We unpack a trade deadline that moved a lot of names but barely moved the needle, then pivot to a Super Bowl that feels lopsided but strangely dangerous. Eight teams angle for three elite prospects as the league wrestles with tanking, injuries and incentives.

• why Giannis staying reshapes Milwaukee’s summer leverage
• Cleveland betting on Harden over Garland and the fit with Donovan Mitchell
• Dallas keeping Kyrie while moving AD and what that signals
• Utah and Washington playing pre free agency to attract talent
• Minnesota’s missed edges on attainable guard upgrades
• Pacers add Zubac but lose Mathurin and swallow risky protections
• the tank math: eight teams chasing three franchise changers
• contenders unchanged despite noise around the margins
• quick hits on Porzingis to Warriors and OKC depth needs
• Super Bowl preview: turnovers, matchups, and MVP picks

Also, happy Black History Month. I hope you hope you celebrate properly. One more thing. There's a link in the bio with merch. It's Black History Month. Go ahead and support a Black Business. Please and thank you. But it's the trade deadline. It has come and gone. But you know, I gotta introduce the man, the myth, and legend to talk about all things trade deadline. Captain Hate himself, Q. How you doing?

SPEAKER_01

Man, I want to do what it is. You already know the vibes. Your boy, Mr. Bell, aka aka say your name is on the spy. Might not beat you tomorrow. You know, Deion, this is my time. You know what I mean? Basketball eating up, college basketball going on, men's basketball, women's basketball. You know what I'm saying? Shout out to the UVL women. They're doing their thing right now. So yeah, no, this is my time. Basketball is my time. You the football guy. Yeah. Tell everybody about our pods. Dion, the football guy. I watch it. But you know, that's Dion's thing. You know what I mean? Basketball is what I love. So Trade Deadline, NBA time. Like I said, you know, heating up in the NCAA. You in conference, uh, conference season, basically. Yeah. It's the time.

The Stars Who Didn’t Move

SPEAKER_00

It's the time. Basketball season, we're we're we're getting to the all-star break here soon. We'll talk about that when we get closer to it. It is what it is. But trade deadline is here. Like we've like I said last episode, NBA, there's usually some fire to the smoke and trade deadline. And we got some fire, but there was there was some smoke that turned out to be nothing but smoke. The biggest trade bait out there that never happened, Yannis Atskudupo, he is staying put in Milwaukee. He may not play, he may not play again this season. We'll see. Uh, Kyrie Irvin, even though AD has got shipped out, he's staying. Uh Lamello ball, he's staying. Jaborant, he's also staying. Mommy Heat didn't make a trade at all. They're the only team in this conference that didn't make a trade. Don't know what they're doing. Do y'all want to get better or do y'all just want to watch? Y'all always saying we're gonna sign somebody free agency. These big guys don't make it a free agency, bro. Come on, Pat. But Q, like the the guys that didn't get traded, which one was the most surprising about these guys that did not get traded and was on the trade trade block?

SPEAKER_01

The most surprising, the most surprising, I guess, I guess is you have to say it's Giannis, right? Because there was so much smoke around Giannis that when he actually it when the when the three o'clock hit and he didn't get you didn't get no news, you didn't get no conversation, it was kind of like that's surprising. It's surprising because he was so talked about and he's the biggest name. You it doesn't okay, it doesn't make for me, it doesn't make sense. If you're going to wait until the offseason and you got it, then you hoping if you Milwaukee that Giannis signs the extension. Because if you if he don't sign the extension, you might as well you you gonna have to try to then. Now, I I know the office could be better or whatever the case might be. You have more first-round draft picks, but you want this looming over your team's head for the rest of the year? That hey, Giannis Giannis might might be here next year, he might not be here next year. It don't, it doesn't. I think it now, while the office might be better, I think is it worth the headache? That's for me. I that would be the question I would be asking. Is it worth the headache? Because Giannis is gonna want to play basketball, but you don't want Giannis playing basketball because he's gonna he's gonna make y'all a 500 team, we're gonna mess up your potential with having a good pick.

SPEAKER_00

And he's already got a cap injury, too. So you don't wanna you don't wanna play with them cap injury. We saw what happened to all those guys last season.

SPEAKER_01

Giannis said he's gonna be out a couple months, but the team is like, uh, nah, we you know he's gonna be re-evaluated in a couple months. Well, a couple weeks. It's a couple weeks. Giannis say I'll be back in a couple weeks. Even Doc was like, What? No, no, no, no, no, no. He's progressing, but I don't know back a couple weeks. Giannis is gonna wanna play basketball. So y'all gonna make it uncomfortable in the building when y'all gotta tell Giannis he ain't playing basketball? I don't I don't think I will be, I don't think I would want that headache, but that's just me. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I agree. Giannis was the biggest, biggest domino to not fall. I will say I was the most confused about the Mavs keeping Kyrie. I understand he's hurt, but you probably could have got something for him. And you clearly you're in a situation where you're ready to basically tear it down and rebuild it with Cooper Flag. You got rid of AD. We'll talk about that in a second. I was a little shocked that they kept Kyrie and they even reporting saying they want him part of this core. The man, how well, Kyrie, 33? 34? Yeah, is he dead old? I think so. So, like, dude, I don't know what they would say. I would have tried to trade him, get some for him. Cooper Flag's been playing the point guard position. He's gonna be your point guard looking like moving forward. The Mavs actually look pretty decent, but they're probably still hoping they can get them a nice little pick, pair them with Cooper Flag, and we'll see what happens. Job Morant, I'm a little shocked about that one because he's been won now, and they didn't give him his wish. That that that relationship is not gonna be repaired. He's not gonna be there in the 2020s for the 2027. I just I'll be shocked. And Lamella Ball, they actually traded for some people to try to get better. They actually got Kobe White, but Lamella Ball is still in, he's still a Charlotte, Charlotte Hornet.

SPEAKER_01

Now you're right. Like Kyrie don't make sense because of something back. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But Kyrie is hurt, so maybe you'll get more. Kyrie, you understand that Kyrie ain't gonna play. That's where Giannis is gonna want to play. So Kyrie not playing, doesn't we already expected that, so his outputs will be better in the summertime. Because Ja saying, I don't want to leave Memphis. Like he's out saying that in public. I don't want to leave Memphis. But it's all of the again, like use your analogy, it's all this smoke that you want to be gone, and then y'all traded, like we're gonna get to later, Jerry Jackson Jr., triple J. So why would why wouldn't you go ahead and start all the way over now with y'all? I don't to me that don't that don't make that don't make sense. But the lamello, you brought up Lamello, and I forgot about LaMelo. Oh shade, the Lamello. But the thing I thought about with the Lamello was Charlotte, they traded for Kobe White. Okay, cool. Kobe White is a good player. My thought was with the Kobe White situation was Minnesota traded Mike Connolly to Chicago for some for some stuff to basically say save salary to get up under the tax aid. But then turn around, Kobe White got shipped to Chicago for some second-round picks and some salary filling. Y'all couldn't got Kobe White. Minnesota should have traded for Kobe White. That would have gave Anthony uh Anthony Edwards a running to me. I don't is Minnesota trend.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know what they do. That's my question. We do call him a possible, we do call him the possible of the West. But you can you can change that possible to a full-on book if you if you played your car right to the trade deadline, and they didn't really play the cars right.

Kyrie Confusion And Dallas Direction

SPEAKER_01

You didn't have a they didn't have enough to go get Giannis, and that's what they wanted, right? They wanted to pair Giannis with Anthony Elbert. You didn't have enough to go do that, but why not do the things on the perimeter on the edges of the team on the edges of the roster to make the team better? If you could get Kobe White for some salary cap filler and some second-round draft picks, I would have done it. Or even the y'all do uh I can't think it now. Now drawing a blank on this name, uh Jeremy McCain. If I y'all ain't got a first round draft pick to trade for him, y'all could have done so much better to y'all could have done smaller things to make this team better. But yeah, I don't know. I just that Minnesota, that was the thing that took away from me from this trade deadline. Is is Minnesota really trying? Or they just saying they try.

SPEAKER_00

I don't I don't know what's going on, but yeah, but let's let's go ahead and talk about the first big domino that fell toward the trade deadline. And it it's it was a confusing one when the when the reports came out where James Harden was being shopped. They actually set him down because he's being shopped. Like, then the Clippers just fought their groove. They started out terrible. Now they found their groove. They might try to make some noise in the West a little bit. Didn't expect him to come out the West, but you know, they might maybe win or maybe make it to the second round or something. Apparently, James Harden said he didn't request a trade, but also he wanted a contract extension. And the Clippers were looking like they probably was not willing to give a 36-year-old a contract extension. So they traded him to Cleveland for Derrick Garland, which you get a younger player, he's probably obviously not James Harden, but James Harden isn't James Harden for one. But Derrick Garland is a solid player and he's younger. I say Cleveland might, I mean, I'd say the the Clippers might have got a win there. Now, I don't know why Cleveland did this. I I don't, I mean, James Harden is cool. Um, the should the biggest beneficiary, the bit the biggest piercing that benefits from James Harden going to Cleveland is the trip club owners. That's the big that's the person that benefits the most is the trip club owners. So I don't I don't know why Cleveland did this. But can you come on? Can you guys you got your explanation for me?

SPEAKER_01

No, I don't listen. Okay, so like you say it on the blood. James Harden took a leave when he doesn't years younger. And he's gonna be cheaper once because James Harden wants a contract from everything we heard. James Harden wants to contract a teacher. The Clippers is like, no, or we'll we'll talk about it later. Cool. James Harden said, give me a battle here. That's the rumors. James Harden come out and said, I'm thrown off by this. I didn't know they wanted to trade. All right, cool. Whatever you say. But James Harden is going, I think Darius Garland would be cheaper than James Harden going forward. So and he's 10 years younger. Why would you make that trade? I don't understand why you make that trade. And then no shade. Can we just be honest on this pod? Can I be honest on this pod? Yeah, y'all struggled in the playoffs last year. You trade for James Harden, Mr. Captain? You call me Captain Hater. He's Captain Strogger in the playoffs. Like he was better, not in the playoffs. He's Captain Struggle in closeout games.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, don't get me wrong, one of them close out games. I won't. I won't the Brooklyn ones, I don't really blame him for.

SPEAKER_00

He didn't have a he was he was on a hamstring.

SPEAKER_01

He was on a hamstring, he was on one leg. He came out there and tried to help Kevin Durant the best he could. I don't really fault him for that one. The rest of them is kind of like, all right, come on, man. Y'all know what James Harden.

SPEAKER_00

That one I got well, Houston, I think they missed what 20-something threes.

Minnesota’s Missed Margins

SPEAKER_01

It was the whole team. He brought the bad mojo for the whole team. No, let me not say it was all his fault. But he the mojo was bad for the team. So you struggled in the playoffs last year. You bring in Captain I Can't Close out of game. I get y'all got Donovan Mitchell. And Donovan Mitchell is Mr. Big Game. He he he relishes it in the moment. James Harden doesn't. Okay. That's putting a lot of pressure on Donovan Mitchell.

SPEAKER_00

But they gotta learn how to play together, too. Johnny knew how to play together.

SPEAKER_01

It's gonna take them the rest of the year to learn how to figure out because James Harden needs the ball. So does Donovan Mitchell. Now James Hart has proven that he could play off the ball when he got somebody, when he got somebody, but they also got Evan Mobley down there who is should be going towards their best player. He should be working towards that. He won defensive player of the year last year. You know what I mean? And he got an offensive game. It does improve them in the quit in the simple fact that Darius and Garley and Donovan Mitchell are both small guards. James Harden give him James Harden does give him some height. But he don't really he only play defensive when he wants to.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

And he don't want to that off. So he's playing less and less defense. He don't want to that off.

SPEAKER_00

So that weird. It's confusing. So I don't know. We'll see who it figures out. Clippers, let's see if they can keep that mojo because they like I said they started at horrible. Then they actually started hitting the groove. I still don't think, I'm sure you don't think they're coming out the West either, but they actually look like a solid team.

SPEAKER_01

I was gonna say the Clippers, because it's gonna be another trade. We're gonna talk about it. The Clippers, the roster, if you want to look at it, it can make sense. Yeah. Some of them, some of the moves they made. Because in the on the Clippers aspect of this trade, we got somebody cheap when it's two years younger. That he's not as good, but he is still all-star quality.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. So solid. They sent him to Utah, which okay. I don't, I guess. I don't. Utah, they they haven't they haven't done much since they traded Donovan Mitchell and uh Rudy Gobert. They got Ace Bailey, but that's that's that's the most they got going for him. What's what's going on in Utah, man?

SPEAKER_01

Pre-free agency? Yeah kind of like what my facility did. We gon' we gonna do pre-free agency because nobody wants to come here. So we gonna use our we have to you we have to overpay for people to in in trades. And I feel like that's what they did. They got they are making basically because I don't think is Jaron Jackson J probably ain't gonna play this year neither. They be gonna have to look into that with all these style players not playing for most for pretty much the rest of the year. He ain't gonna play. Larry Markin had already missed a week, I think took damn near two weeks with the flu.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So they're gonna tank and then they're gonna try to be good next year.

SPEAKER_00

Let's keep let's keep a track on that take meter, though. So we got um Milwaukee and we got Utah. We'll talk about another one here in a second. So that's two teams on the table.

Harden To Cleveland And Fit Questions

SPEAKER_01

Not to mention not to mention Charlotte probably isn't a tank meter.

SPEAKER_00

Charlotte take meters too. So but yeah, so I don't know what's going on with Utah, but let's go ahead and uh slide down to Dallas. Again, we're surprised they kept Kyrie because they got rid of Anthony Davis. You can add Dallas to that semi-tank team. They got a nice team, they got some solid pieces. They get they are they have a future. They have a future, but it looks like they're still probably in tank mode a little bit as well. So and uh Dallas, Utah, Milwaukee, Charlotte as 14s. We there's a point to this. We'll get to that in a second. But AD got traded to the D uh Washington, D.C. for also AD and D'Angelo Russell. I wanted to add that shout out to 502 on D'Angelo Russell. They seem like they've attached to the help for some reason. I will say, I honestly forgot that the Wizards got Trey Young. So I was like, okay, they might got something, but it won't be what they got won't happen until next year, because AD probably gonna be playing the rest of the year. And Trey Young might not be playing the year the rest of the year. That's just not me speculating, that's what some of the reports are saying. So you can add Dallas and the Wizards to the tank team. So that's six teams right now. So I don't know. A D to the Wizards. A D to the Wizards.

SPEAKER_01

Again, man, for who and for what? Because simple thing, they already gonna have to, they're gonna have to extend Trey Young. The Wizards are again. You gonna have to A D want an extension. A D want money, Dallas wasn't gonna give it to him, so he wanted to get out of Dallas. So you're gonna go to Washington. Washington's probably gonna give him an extension. It's just me. And then you can tell me if I'm wrong. Trey Young and A D and they young pieces, because they probably they tanking two, so they want a young, they want a young guard. It's Trey A D what? Six in the what six six in the East. Are they okay? Just like this. Trey A D with all the young pieces. Are they gonna be a top four in the East next year?

SPEAKER_00

No, especially with uh we'll we'll get to some other teams that might make a comeback. They not good this year, but they they probably be good next year because they get a star player back. But we need to go that far.

SPEAKER_01

We just go, are they they not gonna be better than Boston? They're not gonna be better than New York. They not Cleveland ain't not better. I was gonna say they're not gonna be better than Cleveland because Cleveland should have been I I I like Philly.

SPEAKER_00

Joel and beat, if he can stay healthy, they they can be problems, but we know he's not gonna stay up. But I do like look, I do like uh VJ Max. Yeah, I like that tandem. So I mean, even with AD a trade. And don't forget about the pistons, they look great.

SPEAKER_01

That's the team I was trying to, I was like, it's another team that hurt. It's the pistons. Well, we I y'all gonna y'all raise, y'all. I mean, I know they got it because now the NBA said you gotta spend your money. There's a certain amount you gotta spend, so you gotta pay somebody, so you're putting it in trade, you're putting it in AD, but trade trade stay hurt, ad stay hurt. Is that really the people you wanna spend your money on? Yep, and then especially the contract extensions that both of them is gonna want. Both of them probably gonna want to still make 40 to 50 million dollars a year, and no offense. The way no, no offense, the way the salary cabin is now, neither one of them is worth 40 to 50 million dollars a year.

SPEAKER_00

Yep, uh the Wizards, they are not this year, but with with Trey Young and AD, they'll be in that play and invitational with the Chicago Bulls and the Miami Heat and the Atlanta Hawks. That's that's that's the playing invitational for the East, and it has been for the past couple since the play has been a thing.

SPEAKER_01

Washington did the same thing that Utah did, and the same thing my places did. Free agency.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

We gotta trade for people, we gotta use these assets and we gotta trade for people to get them in the house. I just don't, and you I I I got egg on my face because I thought you asked me six years, six, seven years ago, I thought AD was gonna be the best player in the league around this time. He hasn't shown that because he stayed heard, and you know, it was hard for me to say because he went to that school up the road. Yep, and I don't like saying nice, nice stuff back then, but I thought AD, I thought AD had every all the tools to be one of the best players in the league. The two he don't have is being on the court. So I don't understand it from Washington. Dallas, you had to get rid of the AD because you basically had to get rid of the whole Lucas thing. Okay, it's over with him.

SPEAKER_00

It made it made the look made the Luca trade even worse, but still.

SPEAKER_01

It did, but it's over now, right? So it's over. We just it's done. This is what we got for it. We're going forward.

SPEAKER_00

But all right, but yeah, we're up to seven tank teams, but let's go ahead and talk to one more tank team of 2026, and that's your Indiana Pacers. They made a move for Zubak the center for the Clippers. Solid center. Not not he's not gonna tear the house down. He's a solid old school center, gonna get you rebounds, gonna get you a couple points, post points, can uh protect the real solid center. Uh he's not the shooter Miles Turner is. So that's he's not as athletic as Miles Turner either, but good rebounder, can get you some post points, can protect the real solid. But like I said, they're clearly tanking for a high drive pick, so that brings the tank teams to eight. But before I get to what these teams are tanking for, how do you feel about Zubox?

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so Zubox is all-star caliber player. Like he was an all-star last year, he's an all-star caliber player. Um we I we I knew he was in the market for us in because we lost Miles Turner. And we was the talk was from Utah uh Kessler, but it just it just happened. They wanted a higher price than what we was gonna willing to pay. And Kessler can knock down an outside jumper as well as Zubatch. It ain't really that's not really his forte. So I don't we had to give up Matherin for it. Benedict Matherin. And the thing I hate about it for with Benedict was Benedict was one of the ones the people he could get his own shot. Yeah, he can ISO, get his own basket. If he Get foul. He could get to the free throw line too.

SPEAKER_00

I don't remember what game it was, but was it the finals? He uh he gave somebody the twin-tween step back jumper. I'm like, no way he shot that. And then he hit it. It's like, oh, he it must be in his bag. But yeah, that that impressed me. Mathorn has the one-on-one game.

SPEAKER_01

So I don't we don't have that no more. And that's my biggest concern. Plus, then then we gave up two first-round draft picks. And one of them is like 2000, I think it's 2031. So it's like, all right, cool, whatever, we'll deal with that when the time comes. But it has potential to be this year's first round draft pick. It's just heavily protected. One through four or ten or yeah, ten through thirty. So basically, if it lands in five, five, six, five through nine, we it goes to the clippers. Is that really the why can't we just say top 20 protected? You know what I mean? Or like but I get it, the Clippers is like we want a potential to have a lottery pick. But why can't you just say lottery protected or top 20 protected or whatever the case may be? But this one through four and 10 through 30, I look it's gonna land at six. Boom, there it go.

SPEAKER_00

There you go.

SPEAKER_01

So we just lost for nothing.

Utah’s Pre Free Agency Strategy

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, and what makes it even worse, we just mentioned all the teams that are potentially in tech mode. We uh we was up to eight. And look, like you said, we watch a lot of college basketball. There's three guys from our perspective that are game changers that will change your franchise around. That's uh AJ, uh Peterson or what is it? Peterson, Patterson, Patterson, Patterson, D uh Patterson, and uh Boozman. It's those three guys. You gotta get a top three pick. I believe if the Pacers get AJ or Patterson, y'all good money for next season. Y'all, y'all, y'all ahead of the Wizards for sure, especially if y'all get one of them. Is there is there a person you probably would rather have? Or is there somebody I'm not thinking of? Because it for me it's those three. You agree it's those three guys?

SPEAKER_01

For okay, so as far as like game changer, yes, I think it's those. I think it's one of those three. I think there's other solid picks that would that's like first-round draft pick quality, and they're gonna be good players. But if we're talking about game changers that could be potential all-stars, that we're not even potential people that we you know is gonna be all-stars, I think it's those three. Everybody else, they good, solid, they're good solid players and they're gonna be starters. But as far as big time, I think it's those three. We don't need boozer because basically it would be us replacing Pascal Ciao, yeah, because they played the same position, so it wouldn't make sense for us to get them. So we need one of them too. We need Patterson or the Panzer. I'm not, I ain't thinking. You know what I mean? Either one of them, we cool. It gives us somebody that can get their own shot, and that's what we need.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and especially with Tyrese uh Halliburton being healthy, it's probably gonna take them a couple months to get confidence in that uh that calf. But I think the pacers can make some noise again in the east if the ball falls that way, literally. But again, one through four, eight through whatever, what ten through whatever, godly, that is y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all risking a lot trying to be bad when a lot of other teams are trying to be bad.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think I ever seen a pick with that type of protection. No, but then if we if it don't if we don't convey this year, I think it conveys in 29.

SPEAKER_00

So last question, NBA trade airline uh uh McCain for the Philadelphia Saving Signs, he got traded to OKC. They need somebody so that's really what it is. They be on the eight people everybody heard. They was looking like they was gonna be 74 and 8. Now they're gonna be. I said they're probably at first I said 65 wins. I think they might get 60 wins now, because they've been they've been dropping a lot of games ever recently. The Austin Spurs again last night. But you um with the trade deadline coming on I don't think the contingency has changed because it seemed like a lot of the bottom feeders was the ones making trades. Like you said, they were playing doing free agency in season. So I don't think nothing changed, especially with Johniston, John Stan. I don't think I think the contenders are still the same. I think it's still the the three in the pops from the West. The East is uh probably the pistols, because they seem like they're the best teams, but uh we young they're young. I don't know if I trust them.

SPEAKER_01

So it's two like some two deals before we didn't talk about Corzingis. We forgot about Corzingus, but here's the thing Corzingis is kind of sick and hurts all if he's healthy with Golden State, that's a great pickup. Oh yeah, it's a great pickup.

AD To Washington And The Tank Tally

SPEAKER_00

They they they got rid of Kaminga, he's going to Atlanta, so he was he finally got out of Golden State. Hopefully he drive.

SPEAKER_01

Which I don't know, does Kaminga really work in Atlanta? That's a whole nother conversation. He he finally got out of he got out of golden state, but does he really work in Atlanta though? Because they already got people at his position. Man, but then we also bounced him with Boosovich. Yeah, I think if we talk about the East, Tatum is attempting Tatum's gonna play this year.

SPEAKER_00

Shout out to Jalen Brown. They actually are better than I thought they would be.

SPEAKER_01

You know, that's my dog. He should be top three in the MVP conversation from my perspective. Jalen Brown should be top three in the MVP conversation, and then especially if uh Shay is out for a while, because Shay, because you gotta play something at 65 games, he's gonna be out through all-star break. If Shay don't make the game the game count, it's him the joke. And then Joker miss some time too. So for where Boston is, I think Jalen Brown deserves it. I think he should be in the MVP conversation and not just in the talk. He should be really a consideration. Um I think Boston's in the easy line, you know who like we miss him in the West. It's them too. But if I had to pick a winner, if I had to pick a winner for the trade deadline, I don't I can't think of a winner. I feel like I think of more losers than maybe maybe is it homework if I say Indiana? Because we went here and got our center.

SPEAKER_00

I think it's a win if the ball bounces your way.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, if the ball bounces our way and we don't lose that draft pick, but if we lose that draft pick, then I don't I don't think we the winners. Yeah. Because we just so I don't I don't really know, though. I really don't know.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, this was a a lot of hat, a lot happened, but this wasn't a like, you know, 80 going from the Pelicans to the Lakers, Luca going from the Mavs to the to the Lakers. It I feel like this didn't change this pro trajectory of this season. We'll see in future seasons because a lot of these things, like I mentioned, eight teams are trying to take for three game changers.

SPEAKER_01

A lot happened, but nothing happened at the same time. If that makes sense, a lot a lot of people moved, but then nothing happened. You know what I mean? I think that's the best way to describe the trade deadline. And shout out to Utah because they at least attempted. That's all I can say. At least y'all attempted. Yeah. But the NBA got a problem on their hands with all these teams, all these teams tanking and all these star players not playing. Right. You can't continue to allow that to happen.

SPEAKER_00

You can't. Something's gotta, Adam Silver gotta figure it out. I mean, he's probably still trying to figure out this all-star problem. He might have it figured out with this US versus the world thing. We'll talk about that more when the all-star break gets here. But yeah, it's alright, trade that line. Better than what the NFL usually brings out. So I cannot complain at all. But speaking of NFL, last game of the season is here. Um, Pro Bowl happened, flag football game. It was cool. It was cool. I watched a little bit of it, but it was cool. That's all I gotta say. I just wanted to mention that. But the Super Bowl is here. Seattle Seahawks versus the New England Patriots. Everybody and their mama, including my mama, says the Sea Light of Seahawks should dominate this game, but it's the Super Bowl and it's the New England Patriots, and they're wearing white. So I'm still going to Seahawks, but I'm not gonna say they're gonna dominate like they probably should.

SPEAKER_01

I'm going to Seahawks too. I'm going to Seahawks by team. But if doesn't this feel like a very New England type win? Yeah. When nobody people ain't really excited about the Super Bowl like they typically are. And there's a team that everybody thinks is better on the other side. This feels like a New England, we gonna we gonna win. This this you know, this is what it feels like to me. I ain't confident enough to pick him because I seen what he had to do. It wouldn't shock me if New England wins.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, uh, one thing people have been like seeing with New England, like they played uh Justin Herbert, uh, who has who's missing both his tackles on the left side. They played uh Houston, Texans, which they did not, they really didn't score on them, but Texas is like a top five defense. They got helped out by CJ Stroud, and then they played a Denver Broncos team, who again they have a solid top five defense, but they played against uh Jarrettham who hasn't thrown a pass since 2023, and it looked like it. But you're going against the number this is this ain't a top five defense. This is a defense number one. Sam Darnold, he has in the regular season been prone to turn the ball over. He hasn't in the postseason. And they got Jack Smith and Jigba and Kenneth Walker the fourth, or the third, Kenneth Walker the third, I think it's third or fourth, he's been running his tail off. I just I'll be sh I wouldn't be shocked that New England wins, but it depends on how it happens. All the way, I feel like New England wins this game is Sam Dornes turns the ball over like he had in the regulars season a little bit. But even then, they still have worked their way to get the number one seed. So the defense has been that great that they turned the ball over and defense has belled him out.

SPEAKER_01

You just took the words out of my mouth. I'm gonna be honest, it might be petty, it might even be Captain Hayden because that's what they call him. Sam Darnold gonna throw two interceptions in this guy. And I still think they're gonna win about 10. He's going to throw two at two interceptions in the game.

SPEAKER_00

He'd been too clean in the playoffs, too.

SPEAKER_01

It's it's the same Darnold. You know what I mean? It's literally the same Darnold. Ain't nothing. I don't think it changed that much because he still did he lead the league of turnovers, or he was in the top of the league of the last season he led the league in turnovers.

SPEAKER_00

There's a lot of fumbles and picks.

SPEAKER_01

So it's the same Darnold. He just he just playing good because it also helps that the defense look good. That being said, part of me still won't go with New England because this feels like the New England type of game. And if if they turn if they turn uh turn one of those over into points, then it does change the game.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and another thing, New England's offense has not looked good. I get like I said, we they played top five defenses. They look good, but like we said, they're defense number one. Y'all look good against defense number four. Y'all think y'all gonna look good against defense number one? Drake May gave been psyched five times the last two playoff games. That that that pass press is crazy too.

SPEAKER_01

Drake may like it. Not to go against this defense. He ain't like it. Stefan, uh Stefan D for them to win this game, Stephon D is gonna have to have a monster game. Yep. That's just what it boiled down to. Because it ain't gonna be, it's not gonna come from the runner game. It's gonna it's gonna it's gonna come from it, it's gonna come from the uh the offense.

Pacers, Zubac, And Risky Protections

SPEAKER_00

Yep, and and also I know Christian Gonzalez, he's a good corner. Don't single him on Jackson Smith and Digga. Do not single that man, it will be a long day. If you single coverage, Jackson Smith and Digga with Christian Gonzalez, y'all better bracket that man. Y'all better put safety hip over top. But you can't you then you're gonna let Cooper cut you with a thousand with a thousand knives if you better put safety hip over top. You bank on Sam Darnold throwing an interception. Put that safety up. And uh Rachid, Rashid Shahe, by the way, that was the trade, that was the trade of the year. Because they got it from so shot, too. Don't kick it to him either. Yeah, you're not you. Don't be like Tony Dungey back in the Super Bowl when they played the Bears. He's like, well, we ain't scared of no Devin Hester. Kick it to him. Took it back. 10 seconds later. Wait, what was I thinking? With a blink. Yeah, don't don't don't don't be like Coach Dungey and kick it to Rashid Rasheed. He he gonna he don't you ain't gonna shoot see nothing but his shoe bottoms.

SPEAKER_01

All right. Who you gotta win the MVP?

SPEAKER_00

Oh man. I just feel like Kenneth Walker has just been on fire, and I'm gonna give it to him. He had what three touchdowns against uh the 49ers, I just think it's gonna be him. Is it to me it's him or Jackson Smith and Jigaboo? I'm just going with Kenneth Walker.

SPEAKER_01

If they do what you said and they don't let Jackson Smith get off, I wouldn't be surprised at a Cooper Cup.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

If he can affect what he's going to the Hall of Fame, but we we 11 um like 11 receptions, like a 11-12 receptions, 112 yards with a touchdown, because the simple fact that we were so scared of Jackson Smith and the J. Jackson Smith, I ain't even gonna try.

SPEAKER_00

But um, but um uh Super Bowl, what six o'clock Sunday? Yeah, I'm assuming you're gonna be watching live. You're gonna have your adopte beverage. You you excited about the Super Bowl, or you just you just watching it because it's the Super Bowl.

SPEAKER_01

I'm just watching it because it's the Super Bowl this year. It don't it's feel like it's it's feel like it's like a wrestling. Normally it has a storyline. It's a really got the I guess Sam Darnold is a storyline, and then the New England Patriots being the new England Patriots. I guess the new storyline, but it just ain't it ain't up for me. Plus, I think another thing is I think Seattle no I think Seattle has the potential to blow him out, so that's the other thing. That's kind of why I do it due to uh Sam Darnold.

SPEAKER_00

Yo play, good play. You got a man fired in in Minnesota. They've been they've been slain. I don't I don't want to butcher my man's name. I forgot it off the top of my head. I know it's a black man getting fired in Black History Month is crazy, but they've been butchering your name. He made one probably he made a bad decision by letting Sam Darnold go. But damn, y'all ain't got to y'all ain't have to pull up the he took two weeks off to spend time with his uh his wife that had a bad had a rough pregnancy and his baby. Took two weeks off of paternity leave. Y'all ain't had to do all that, bro. Is that not the craziest thing? And then then there was people coming out like, nah, bro, you ain't supposed to do that. What you mean you ain't supposed to do that?

SPEAKER_01

I was listening to the shout outs that Dominique Box were Dominique was kind of like old school football, old school people's like, not even not football, oh just old school people, and me in the general's like, nah, that ain't what we do. But Dominique's like, I guess in the new new age, that is what we do, and also he came from Wall Street, he didn't come from football.

SPEAKER_00

Yep, so he better make yeah, yeah. Hey, if it was me, y'all would have seen me for a month, probably. So I'm just saying, okay.

SPEAKER_01

Now you well, you run a team, you now you well, you run a team, you gotta, you know what I'm saying? It's only so much you can do from the house.

SPEAKER_00

You're like, nah, we better be here. It wasn't it was in the middle of training camp, too. But man, his job is done in training camp. He got the players together, you know. He just maybe cutting a player or two. I was gonna say roster cuts. Yeah, yeah. But that'll do it for another episode from my perspective. Trade deadline came and going. We are getting to the heart of basketball season after the all-star break is when it actually's supposed to get serious. We'll talk about the all-star break. It's probably whack. Uh probably whack. Probably whack. Um, my man, he just got signed by the Bulls three-time champion McLean.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, uh, McCullough. Max, Max, uh, Mac, uh, is it McCullough?

SPEAKER_00

McCullough. He said he ain't doing it. He said he ain't doing it again this year. So that's already a stain on the man. All right, I ain't that's alright, less exciting. Whatever. But we'll see. But I'm excited for the NBA after the All-Star Break. I'm excited for the playoffs. We had so much excitement last playoffs, especially since your team made a long run into the NBA finals. Unfortunately, your team might not won't be there this year, but hopefully, some other team can do something exciting to make this playoff exciting. All out like Jimmy Butler with the Heat or Tyrese Halliburton with the Pacers. Tyres Halliburton, like I said, he's a fan forever for me. The way he made last year's playoffs so exciting. But NBA Super Bowl, last game of the season, probably the Seahawks, but who knows because it's the Newland Patriots. They got Voodoo over there. Robert Crab didn't make it to the uh NFL Hall of Fame. They probably didn't do it because they didn't put Bill in. It would have been a little nasty work. It would have been nasty work if they put Robert and not Bill. Just saying. But boy Dion, thank you again for joining us for another episode of From Our Perspective. Please like, please subscribe, hit that link in the bio and support a black business and happy black history month. Q, go ahead, take us home.

Three Franchise Changers In The Draft

SPEAKER_01

Man, when I saw that Robert didn't get in, I was like, ah, they only did that because they didn't let Bill in the first time. That's the only reason. Because they they saw all that pushback. But y'all already know the band is your boy, Mr. Bell. AKA say your name up on the spy. Might up with you tomorrow. You're gonna get that job later. Peace.
