Welcome And “83” Callout
SPEAKER_00Welcome, welcome, welcome back to another episode of From My Perspective. I'm your boy Dion. Thank you for listening to us for another episode. Go ahead, like, go ahead and subscribe. And go ahead and put an 83 in the comment section. We'll get to that in a second. Q, how you doing?
SPEAKER_02Man, what to do what it is. You already know the vibes of the show. Boy, Mr. Bear. I got I gotta say your name up on this pod. Mine up with you tomorrow. What's going on, Dion?
Bam Breaks Kobe’s Points Mark
SPEAKER_00Going good, it's going good. But I gotta say it. Bam. It's my bad. It's Wilt Bam Kobe. That's what it is. If you was under a rock, Bam Atabayu, he unfortunately played for that team in blue, but we're not gonna talk about that too much. He now has the second most points in NBA history, the most points in active player history with 83. He passed up Kobe on Tuesday night. Um before I add to ask how you proceeded and how you saw it, I'm gonna tell my story. I was working. No, I give my I I'm a pseudo-heat fan, not really, but I do got the heat notification whenever they play. I get the notification when they play and stuff. So I'm just working. I get the notification. Bam got 30 something in the first quarter. It's like, oh, he's cooking. I look, I get the notification again. Bam got 43 in the first half. Like, oh, he he balling. I sent a text out to one of my friends. I was like, Bam got 43 and a half. His over-under. I got his over-under at 59 and a half. That's what I see. 59 and a half. Because you know, a lot of players they ball in the first half and they cool off in the second. I get home. He got like 60 something. I turned on the game with like nine minutes to go or something like that. I had to find a way, I don't know, over trying to legally stream it or whatever. Trying to find a way to watch the game. He got to 70. We'll talk about the last five minutes, but last five minutes, then he is, I'm watching it for real. He gets to 83 points. But the ball was balling. And I still couldn't believe it to this day. It's been, it's been what, three, full days, three days, and I still can't believe that somebody, out of all people, it was Bim, like, he's not even a score for real. He said in his interview, I came in the league as a defending a lob threat. And he he's he's not even averaging 20. Oh no. Q, well, well, before we continue, though, I gotta get your side of the story. How did you see it when it was coming along?
SPEAKER_02So I got the notification, I think, at the end for whatever he scored in the first half. And I was like, I was like, okay, that's what's up. You know what I mean? Good game. Then I got the notification about what he scored in the third quarter. I'm like, okay, bam, baller. You hear me? Again, I'm good up here. Shout out to Jerry, shout out to Quag. I'm ready to do the mixed bass podcast. So everything, all my notifications is on silent. I don't get notifications. But there's certain I got a group of people who's who could get through when my phone's like that. Just so happened I get a text from you. He's ready, he's ready to break the record. I'm like, what? Hold on. Then I look, Quag ain't on here. He's taking a little minute. I said, all right, George, hold on. I'm gonna run downstairs real quick. So I run downstairs and look at the TV. That's what I called it when he started shooting, when he shot the free throws, 82 and 83. I'm like, oh, did he really break the record? He really broke the record. Then I ran upstairs and I told Quag had just got old. I said, you know, bam just broke Kobe's corner record. He said, no, he didn't. I said, no, yeah, he he really did. So I he said, All right, I gotta talk about it. He said, I know y'all gonna talk about it, but let me get my ass off right here. I said, All right, man, say less. So we started the plot off with Quag starts, bam scoring it. Quag said something, and I'm gonna ask you this. And you can answer it. Quag said Bam might be a top hundred 100 player of all time.
SPEAKER_00And I said, you know, it's it's funny because we we talked about that too. I said, stop it.
SPEAKER_02Stop it. No, he's not. He's a one 150. Top 150. I ain't even sold on that respectfully.
Free Throws And Kobe Fan Backlash
SPEAKER_00Bam is a he's a number two on the championship team. He's a very good number two on the championship team, and we've seen it as he went to two finals with Jimmy Bull as the number one. He's a very good number two. As a number one, you really don't, he's not a bad number one, but you he ain't the number one on the championship team from my perspective. He he still got time to prove me wrong. He definitely proved me wrong. I never thought, like, again, if you told me somebody was gonna break Kobe's 81 record, I would I don't he it wouldn't be in the top 10. I would have, I would tell Wimby, Luca, did James Harden found the founding found the youth, did Klay Thompson remember that his knees forgot that his knees hurt or something? I would have thought one of those players, I'd get to that in a little get to those guys in a little bit, but I just couldn't believe it. Like, but let's we gotta talk about the the hate part of it because as I'm watching it, I'm on Twitter watching it too. Because I was already on Twitter the whole day because of the Max Crosby stuff. Again, we'll talk about that. But I was, and people was, it was some people hyped, but then it was those Kobe stands, and I'm gonna call them stands. Before he even got to 81, they was saying, I hope he just gets to 80. He better not get past 81. I was seeing all that type of stuff. After he did it, the Kobe fans was hot. I ain't seen a fan base of someone so mad for someone accomplishing something so dope. They was mad. Now, granted, Ben did shoot a lot of free throws. But if you watch the highlights and you watch the game, a lot of those fouls was actually fouls. Like he, it wasn't like no SGA fouls where he was flopping. That's why we don't like SGA and we call him a free throw merchant because he he he flops to get to the line. Ben wouldn't flop with Ben was a legit getting fouled. Um I watched the last five minutes. People said it turned into a non-basketball game. I will say I kind of agree with that. It got a little ugly. Um, I didn't agree with the the heat players fouling to get more cracks at the apple. Even Bam said he didn't want it. But again, if you that close, you gotta go for it. They was feeding them. The Wizards were triple team. And I Alex Alex Starr, he had a solid game. He had like 28 points. But you were you don't even remember for getting 83 on your on your top nil, unfortunately. But that's crazy. But I will say, yeah, he did get a little foul, but when it took it when he up to 70 points, he was balling. They couldn't do nothing with him up until like 70 points. After 70 points, it got a little messy and sloppy because they was force-feeding it, they was fouling. So the last, obviously, last 13 points, you can say wasn't truly natural or the floor of the game. But again, if you're that close, you gotta try to get it anyways, by any ways necessary. By by any means, shout out to Ben by any means necessary, you gotta find a way to get there. And I don't blame many shout out to Eric Spotion for for putting his player in that position to get there. Because afterwards, I was thinking about all the players that had some great games. Clay getting 60 and three quarters. Steve Ker, um, Steve Kerr, what you doing now? You you got then I think about you gotta go for it. James Harden when he was on his uh heaters, he had plenty of opportunities. Mike Danturney, you're not seeing the uh Pearly Gates now that I think about it. Because you pulled James Harden out plenty of fourth quarters when he was in 60 territory. So, but I do think more players are actually gonna go for it now. Because, or coaches and players are actually gonna, if they get that far into it, 60 through three, they actually gonna go for it. But how do you feel about the hate, especially from the Kobe fans and some people saying it wasn't basketball, it was some BS. They forced Fed on the last nine minutes, which they did, but sure.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so I was listening to the Brian Winhorst podcast, and Brian Winhurst and Brian Winhorst and Tom uh not Tom uh Dim, I can't think uh I can't think of his name. Tim uh Bontem. Tim Bontem. They both was in the Lakers game, but they left the Lakers game to do emergency pie because Bam dropped 83 points. But the coach the Lakers fans was booing at the staple center. Well, it's not the staple center no more, crypto, at the crypto arena because it bail broke the record, and you know it's them with Kobe fans. Kobe fans, Kobe fans is taking it personal. They're taking it real personal. I I do under I understand why, especially because Kobe's no longer with us. I understand why the Kobe fans is taking it personal. I'm not even gonna throw shade. I don't even, I'm not even gonna throw shade at the for taking it personal in their hate, their hate, I'm not taking it personal. I'm not this ain't no shots at them. But all these other people that's hating. What I realize, right? And you know, me, I call myself Captain Hater. I understand hate, but what I have realized is people, we have come to the point where everything, there's no celebration of nothing anymore. Everything's a critique. We can't people don't define the balance, right? There's no balance in okay, I'm gonna critique what you did, but I'm also gonna praise you what you for what you did. Everybody's trying to undersell what he did. Yes, there was some, yes, there was some foolery to get him to the 83. But me and my son, even me and my 12-year-old, 12-year-old son was talking about it. I was like, Yes, they did some stuff at the end, but my son, before I can even get it out, he said, but once you that close, you gotta go for it. Yeah, if you get up, you have to go, you have no, you have to go for it. And like you said, even Bam to his credit was like, Hey, we ain't we ain't gotta do all that. I'm just gonna keep drag, I'm gonna keep jacking up these crazy threes. And people giving giving him a shade because he has three-point percentage. That's because he he was going for it in a more natural sense. Like, I'm just gonna jack up the threes. If I make the threes, cool, I get closer. If I don't, cool.
SPEAKER_00It ain't it ain't his fault he was getting triple team and he kept getting fouled. Yeah, and that was legit fouls, too. Like you wash off every foul, they was legit. There might have been a couple that was iffy, but most of them fouls was legit.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the Miami foul and stretched the game out to give him more cracks, like you said, more cracks again. Once you that close, it's a 20-point game. We're playing the wizards who ain't even trying. Yeah. We're playing a team who ain't trying. Why you won't it is what it is. We're gonna go for it. We live in a it we live in a world where it's just critique time now. It's just what it boiled down to.
Who Could Chase 80 Or 100
SPEAKER_00Yep, but uh 83. I didn't I feel like someone could get it, and we saw Kobe do it. I felt like it was possible. Didn't think it would be Bim out of bio. I figured it would be a score. Again, Bim didn't come into the league as a score. But I truly believe now 100 is in with range. I think I got one person that could get it from my perspective. I think obviously I think so. I think there's some other players that I think can get it, get 80. But I got three names that within the next five to ten years could challenge that. And it's Entman, Luca, and Wimby. I think those three guys can challenge, get into 80 point territory. I specifically think Wimby could get 100. I think one day Wimby could possibly get 100 or 101. I think that's possible.
SPEAKER_02Okay. I think the list is a little bit bigger for the 80 range.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02I don't the 100 range is Wimby. There ain't no trade to none of the rest of them. I just think Wimby's the only Wimby because he could turn around and just he don't gotta jump the duck. You know what I mean? He already had top. So as far as to get to the 100 points, I don't I don't think I'm still in the belief that I don't think that's possible. I don't think we're going to see that. But if I had to pick a person, it's going to be Wimpy. Now the 80-point range, I agree with you with and I agree with you with Luca. You know, I'm personally, you know, Rock would do because he did, you know, he was preventing my team from getting a championship. But I do think Shay, because you know they do know that if you breathe on him, they kind of fail.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's he's on that list of people. He's another one. If he does get it, he's gonna he's gonna have like 40-something free throws.
SPEAKER_02But that's just his game. That's his game. So I think I think Shay, I think Shay could get it. I do think I think Booker has a chance because Booker already scored 70. So I don't, and did Donovan Mitchell too. They just scored 70. They make five more shots, they had 80. You know what I mean? Or they make a couple more threes. You feel me? They already in the 80-point range. So those is two names, those uh three names that I would add to the people who potentially I think could get 80. I think that's I think that's about it. I know people will say steph, but he's a lot older than them. Steph and Durant, they scores, but like you said, they older. It does take to give to give give Bam credit, it takes cinema to put up that many shots and then to make those free throws.
SPEAKER_00You can tell he was exhausted. Like when he was and to battle off triple, because they was triple three of them before they inbound the ball. It was three bodies only, three bodies before they even so you gotta get off the triple team. As soon as you get the ball, you still see the three bodies, dribble through all that. That's tough. That's tough.
SPEAKER_02So you know what this highlighted to me though, more than anything. The bigger me, the the thing I would hate on is that's a tanking issue because Anthony Davis should have been out there. And if Anthony Davis was after it, he wouldn't have scored 80-something points. He wouldn't have got 83 with AD out there. No way. If the Wizards wasn't tanking, if the Wizards was playing, hell, if Trey and Anthony, if Trey Young, no, I'm not saying Trey Young and defensive, but his offense would have made Bam work more, and Anthony Davis is after Anthony Davis. I mean, uh Bam don't get to 80 something points, but but because the Wizards is tanking and they playing their best available players, this is what happens, and I know people are gonna say Anthony Davis is hurt. Yeah, Anthony Davis, yeah, let him tell. He always hurt.
SPEAKER_01That's possible.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and uh one thing some Kobe fans were saying is like it was against the Raptors. The Raptors was awful. They y'all, I mean, y'all was losing during the whole game, but the Raptors was awful. They had a bad record now. They probably wasn't wizard awful, but they weren't too far behind them.
SPEAKER_02I was trying to say they wasn't wizard awful. Wizards ain't even attempting to win the game. That's the thing. Back in the day, it would be bad teams, but at least they would try. Nowadays, they don't even don't get me wrong, some teams tank, but it ain't like it was like a team tank. Now it's five, seven teams can't get. My team's on over.
SPEAKER_00Speaking of Nino, I saw today that they are out of playoff contention. I don't know if you saw that, but I yeah, we was it last night?
SPEAKER_02No, not last night, it's two nights ago, lost when they lost to Portland. Yeah, we I think it was Portland. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was Portland. We lost that game. We was the first team eliminated from the playoffs.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but uh uh one more thing before we move on. Um how much do you think Clay could have got in a 60? He had six points and three quarters. How much do you think Clay could have got? And Jaden Torrent, he's got plenty of 60-point games. How much do you think them guys could have got if they played the fourth quarter and they actually went for it? They probably could have got to the 80.
SPEAKER_02They could have got to the 80, but I like you said, I respect Spolstrom because he saw his playoffs this close and said, you know what? We going for it. Especially if y'all triple teaming him before y'all triple teaming him before we even inbound the ball, all right. Man, we're gonna break the record against y'all. Because this is ridiculous. This is ridiculous. So y'all think this one person is doing everything, and y'all don't leave all these other people open, y'all gonna leave two people to guard the other three? All right, cool. That's what that's what we're doing.
SPEAKER_00And he wasn't even passing it to him. If he did pass it, the players they the the other four wasn't looking to score. They got it. Hey, bam, be right back open, bro. I got you.
SPEAKER_02Man, that's the thing. He had what four assists, three assists. I think it was three or four. I know he had that's the first thing. He had more than Kobe. I remember looking at that. He had more, he had more to Kobe. I think Kobe had two. I think Bam had three. It wasn't a lot more, but it was more. But yeah, again, I understand why the Kobe fans is mad. That's they that's their idol. That's hell, you know what I'm saying? I think Bam said Kobe was his idol. Yep, that's the people they look up to. So I understand why the Lakers fans and the Kobe stands. I understand why they mad. I understand why they critiquing the free throws, understanding why they critiquing the man uh Miami Fallon to extend the game, but the rest of y'all just enjoy basketball. Yep, literally, just enjoy basketball.
SPEAKER_00You saw history, man. I was I was excited to see history like tell that's the most points televised, you know. I guess I mean I guess I do you believe that 100 point game was real?
SPEAKER_02I've heard enough accounts of people who was actually there to believe that it was real.
WNBA CBA Deadline And Lockout Stakes
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I believe it was real, but so but maybe one day we'll actually get it fully televised. But we got we got switched gears to the WNBA on a somber note. Uh after this was um this was actually on the 11th, after a 12-hour negotiation session running from Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning, the WNBA and this player union did not reach a deal only. New collective bargaining agreement. On February 23rd, the league imposed a March 10th deadline, so that was the day before, target to complete a deal to avoid 26 2026 schedule being impacted. So, in other words, the WNBA schedule is gonna be impacted. But they got fired figure out a deal. What's going on with the what's going on with the WNBA? And then from what I've read, the latest proposal was the salary cap starting at 6.2 million and up of 5.7 million and 2025 cap of 1.5 million. What salary cap? Oh, it's the salary cap. Max salary of 1.3 million in year one that grows to nearly 2 million in year two. And obviously, there's other stuff about housing and travel, that's part of the CBA, but uh, what's going on, man? With the WA?
SPEAKER_02It was a quote. I can't find the quote. It was one of the players. I wish I could find a super screenshot it. I was trying to look for the quote.
SPEAKER_01I feel like the players don't have no faith in a deal actually being reached.
SPEAKER_02And we're we're in March. Like you said, they extended the deadline, the deadline was not mad. We're in March. It's time for it's time for the women's uh women's march madness. We know a couple days after that, they normally do the WNBA draft. It feels like, you know, if it's starting to feel like, you know, if it ain't done by next Friday, we're not having a season. And it feels like I feel like the players ain't having no faith, but I feel like I'm hearing more about their negotiation than we do than they was before. Because last time, you know, before it's like we'll send a counter offer, we were sent an offer, we'll send a counter offer, but they was like weeks apart. Now it's feeling like they actually sit down in the same room trying. Matter of fact, I seen on TikTok, it was a group of people that was eating outside of the negoti uh where they was having the negotiations, egg pizza, waiting to see if they was gonna come out and be like, hey, we get we've we reached the deal. But it did, of course, it did not happen. Like we have said previously on the spot, if the WNBA locks out, I feel like a lot of momentum they had. They have going right now, it's gonna go away. It's gonna fade to black. You got especially like right now, you got a lot of WNBA players playing in uh FIBA. I think they're playing in the feeble in some FIBA matchups, like you got Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese and uh Thomas for real.
SPEAKER_00Paige.
SPEAKER_02Page, damn. I can't I uh uh play Phillip Sports now. Can't think of a name. Kelsey Chiller? Yeah, Kelsey. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah, Kelsey's on the team. But um you got a lot of big names playing in for the WBA right now, and they're coming off the feed with friendlies and or what I don't know if it's a friendlies or attorney, whatever the case may be, that you get momentum. They own their own television. So you would you think that will lead into the draft and lead into the season? Don't look like we're gonna have that. And it's it's disappointing, honestly.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's very disappointing. You just want them to get a deal done. Like, why like I don't know what's so hard. Obviously, I'm not we we've done we've dealt with union stuff, not successfully, but we've dealt with union stuff, so I just don't understand it. Should be easier. You ask one thing, they want one thing, you should just meet in the middle and be happy. I don't know what is the stigma point that the players are like that's they non-negotiable, or and what's the WM based non-negotiable? They get they gotta figure it out. And it's you can't you can't and you got new teams that's supposed to be starting up here soon. You can't you can't have this lockout.
SPEAKER_02No, you can you can't you can't afford this lockout. And then uh I'll just on the one of the quotes from the uh the the WNBA side is like we're uh we have the the uh the contract we have sent over is you know unprecedented. We have given we have given in a lot on what the players are demanding. The players still feel like it's not enough. It feels like the players feel like they could get more. And I don't I don't blame you can't blame nobody for wanting more, especially when you see the TV contract that the WNBA just had. Of course, the players is gonna want they're gonna want a bigger piece of that.
SPEAKER_00So I mean, I don't know. My my something that I would suggest it if it's depending on how close it is to what the women want to the players want. I want to ask for shorter years on the deal. If that's the thing, I don't know how long usually do like 10 years on these things. I say if you drop down to five, we got a deal because that would get you back to the table sooner, renegotiate, and maybe you if you have a successful five years, you get more money. That would be my suggestion. I don't know. They just need to get it done.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think you're right. I think that would be at least to save this season and maybe you know next, maybe do of course. Nobody wants to, they wouldn't prefer to do a shorter deal, but maybe like a three-year deal, two-year deal, love to catch the baby to basically give yourself more time to negotiate. I know that's not ideal, and I know that's probably not the best overall business practice, but it does help with you not losing the entire season.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's what they're already probably gonna impact the season. The WMB season is already not that long. It's not 82 games. I don't know off the top of my head. I think it's already what 30 something.
SPEAKER_02I think it's 30 something.
NCAA Bubble Auburn Vs Miami Ohio
SPEAKER_00It's already not that long. They go from they go literally from like May to August or late June. 44 games. Yeah, late. So they go from like May to late Jul Jul June, July, something like that. So they they get just figured out. Just figured out. But something else that needs to be figured out and the committee, they have their stuff. The NCAA committee has their self a uh conundrum kind of. We we don't think it's a conundrum, but people on social media world think it's a conundrum. We're gonna find out. Uh, we do have a special episode for you guys next week. We'll talk more about the NCAA term next week, but we want to specifically talk about two teams that has been the talk of the NCAA world, and that is now one loss Miami of Ohio. They lost in a in the MAC conference tournament, the first round. I will give you credit. You I believe you called this. You said that I can see them losing in the conference tournament, if not the first round. And they lost the Massachusetts, not the first round, but their first game. Now they are no longer undefeated. I think they're like 30 and 1 or 29-1. 30 and one. 30 and one. And some people said they do not belong in the NCAA tournament. I've seen that a lot. They are ranked 20 at the moment, but I have seen a lot of people say they do belong in it. Now, another team we gotta talk about. There's also been the talk of the college basketball world in terms of will they get in and will they not get in, and it's Auburn. And if you know Auburn, they are they have been a pretty bad team this year. They're like 17 and 15. They have an under 500 record in the conference in SSC. A good conference, I will say. But they have been listed in the last four in or last four out in most projections, which is crazy to me. And Miami, Ohio has been listed as the last four in most projections, which again, crazy to me that they have to sweat it out. But uh Auburn loss, Miami, Ohio loss, people are seen to see the one or the other. I believe, especially if you won't get eyeballs. I saw uh Jeff go Jeff uh Jeff tweet about this. Uh I'll get his last name here in a second. Jeff tweeted about this, he's an analyst, that if you want some, if you want some views on them first play-in games, let's do Miami, Ohio versus Auburn on Tuesday night. That'll get you some eyeballs. But I know you got some thoughts on Auburn and Miami, Ohio. How you feeling about these two teams? It's been the talk of the basketball world.
SPEAKER_02So, you know, I was talking about earlier how I called myself Captain Hater, and I was out, you know, peace and Kumbaya and all that with the Bam record and all that.
SPEAKER_00Jeff Jeff Goodman, by the way. He's Jeff Goodman.
SPEAKER_02I will go ahead and get Captain Hater moment, Captain Hater for a moment when it comes to Auburn. Aubrey was the conversation because Bruce Pearl was taking up for his son when he was down in Miami, Ohio. He was saying his that him and his son, the job that he just left, so his son got nepotism, should have should get in the conference tournament. Yeah, the record in the FCC is 7 and 11. 7? You won seven and you lost 11. You play in the SEC good conference, right? It's a really good conference. I will probably, I will say it was the third. I was top to bottom the third basket um basketball conference in America. I would say third. I would give the Big 12 this year, and I would give it to ACC second, and then I would give it to the SEC third this year. Cool?
SPEAKER_00Last year, last year the SEC was first too.
SPEAKER_02Last year SEC was first. Yeah, you ain't 500. You're not even you're not 500. And it ain't even that you you not 500. It ain't like they was like, you know what I'm saying? Nine and ten in the conference, eight and ten, eight and nine. They seven and eleven. You four games under 500 in your conference. Why are we having this conversation about Army even potentially being in? I was watching the South Lane Conference yesterday. It was between McNey State and Stephen F. Austin. McNey State, 28 and five. 28 and yeah, 28 and five. Stephen F. Austin. No, yeah, both of them, 28 and five. Both of them finished their season 28 and five. McNey State's going to the conference tournament because why? They won, they won a uh they won the conference tournament. Stephen F. Austin was the number one in their conference throughout they won a regular season championship. But because they lost in the conference tournament, they're not gonna get in. Why they not gonna get in? Because teams like Arbit, who play with the big boys but can't be over 500 in the big with the big boys, they gonna get they gonna get auto bits. Well, they played on hardest schedule because of didn't nobody tell you how to add Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas AM to get dang on conference.
SPEAKER_00Did you see did you see Navy, that Navy game, how they lost? They was number one.
SPEAKER_02I didn't see the Navy game.
SPEAKER_00They shouldn't have lost. They uh somebody started that clock for you. That's the conversation from that day. But I I um I don't I agree with you, but I'm gonna I'm gonna I'ma add something to Auburn's favor. Who's the number one team in the country?
SPEAKER_02It's Arizona. Is it Arizona?
SPEAKER_00It is Duke.
SPEAKER_02Duke. I was gonna say it's I can't remember. Is Arizona Duke?
SPEAKER_00Actually, the no who's the number five team. I I should have I I they was number one at the time when they played, but who's the number five team in the country? Florida. Florida. Auburn does have a win, and Steve Pearl, Bruce Pearl's son, the head coach Auburn, he he claims it's the best win in the country. They had they beat Florida 76 to 67 at Florida January 24th. Does that mean anything to you?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's one of their seven wins. Well, what was the other 11 losses? Like you won't be talking, you know what I mean? Like, what are we talking about? Okay, cool. Y'all beat Florida. Yeah, four more conference games if y'all could beat Florida.
SPEAKER_00Uh Arber actually had an awful February, too. I'm looking at their schedule. They won one game in February, and the one game they won was by one point. They had an awful February.
SPEAKER_02So I don't understand. But I get why Bruce Pearl started out of Miami. It was already hate for Miami over Ohio. But Bruce Pearl, when he got on TV, he lit a fire to it. But of course he's gonna light a fire to it because he won Miami over Ohio. Because he probably saw the same thing I saw. They was barely winning a lot of those those games. It it was it wasn't kind of hard to predict they was gonna lose in the conference, the conference tournament.
unknownCool.
SPEAKER_02Once it comes to selection Sunday, you're gonna put Miami, Ohio in, or you're gonna put Arbany in. Arbani got the name on his jersey. Everybody knows that's still a little brother to Alabama.
SPEAKER_00They still, and they're still not a basketball team to me, basketball school to me.
SPEAKER_02And that's no shade. I you know, I got family members that's Arbor fans, and I don't want to throw that much shade to Arbor. But what are we doing? You should if you under 500 in the ACC, the Big East, the Big 12, the SEC, the Big Ten. Any conference, really. Well, but if you under 500 in the Missouri Valley, ain't nobody can even consider you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, you're right.
SPEAKER_02But if you just because you in those big five and you under 500, and we ain't talking about like a game under 500, there are four games under 500. You shouldn't be considered.
SPEAKER_00I I agree with you 100% though. But we're gonna have to see on selection Sunday what happens. I am hoping for that Miami, Ohio versus Auburn matchup because that's gonna that's gonna do some ratings.
SPEAKER_02That that should be the play, but that's the thing. They went 30 and oh, I don't feel like Miami of Ohio deserve to be in a play in.
SPEAKER_00They do I die, I think they they're right now, they are ranked 20. So, how many conference gets auto bids? I don't know what like was it like 20 conferences out there? I think auto bids 30.
SPEAKER_02I think it's 30, 30, something.
SPEAKER_00So you telling me you get 30 teams get automatic bids, probably what Big Ten, ACC, SEC, uh Big 12, and maybe one other conference. Five of those is gonna be teams that's already ranked, anyways.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00So you telling me a team that's ranked in the top 20 can't get a spot in the 64 team tournament?
SPEAKER_02Okay, but in furnace, they top 20 because they was undefeated. Well, they're not gonna be, you know what I'm saying. They know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they'll probably drop, they'll be receive votes, they'll probably be in the room. They'll probably be top top 30. They'll probably drop to like 28, 29, 30. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Do I don't if I'm you know, I'm not Joey Brackett, so don't, you know what I'm saying? Don't quote me on this. But they should be no worse than like a 10 seed?
SPEAKER_00Uh somewhere between 7 and 10. It's 16. I I would give them no worse than 12. Yeah, oh, I think that you think 12? I think that's the worst they should get. I I would give them a 10, but they shouldn't get no worse than a 12.
SPEAKER_02We not act me, neither me or you are acting like they should be uh a top four or top six seed in any any bracket. But saying that they they should be on the bubble is crazy.
SPEAKER_00They're not a last four team in to me. They I saw multiple experts get them either the first, first, four, first team in the last four in or like in the middle of the last four in. They not, no, I don't that the it is if you go undefeated in another weaker Mac. The MAC is not that weak of a conference. It's a weak conference, but it's not like I don't know, oh the OVC all about Ohio Valley Conference. It's not the Ohio Valley Conference. It's the Mac. The Mac is a FBS on football level. They still get solid people. It's not again. I I didn't realize it until I saw it today. Is they've only had one bid since like 1999, which probably should change this year because whatever Wednesday will get a bid in Miami, Ohio. I would I would assume that they would have gotten like maybe two teams every now and then. I was wrong about that, but they've only had been a one business team since 1999.
SPEAKER_02But see, that's the problem. And in basketball, you're gonna have it's 31 teams, it's 37 at largest. You are the ACC gonna get multiple. The Big Ten gonna get multiple, the Big 12 gonna get multiple. The uh the Big East, not a football player, but you know power, power basketball. They gonna get multiple. They're gonna get money, multiple. FCC gonna get multiple. That's it. Those is really your leagues that's gonna get out uh and now uh damn, what a Saint San Diego or St. Mary's. I mean, uh St. Mary's and Gonzaga, you know both of these. Yeah, yeah, they they in there, they in there every year. They they got they got they they always got a spot for them. Yeah, so they conference so after that, it ain't there's no more really open spaces. My thing, it's just me, especially for those smaller conferences. I know it's money in it.
SPEAKER_00Conference tournament. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It's money in the conference tournament, but I really think those smaller conferences, it should be the regular regular season. Because I think I know the Abbey League did it for a long time. They were the regular season champion. I think they just went to a conference tournament. I don't quote me on that 100%. But the Abbey League for the longest time, it was the regular season. They season ended at the same time as the conference tournaments. But if you you smaller conferences, you work so hard throughout the entire season. You have one off night, and you're not getting in, you're not getting into the uh the NCAA tournament, then you gotta go to the NIT, and you might not even get an NIT bid because your teams like Auburn, they might go to the NIT, and of course they're gonna take Auburn because they want the TV viewership.
SPEAKER_00So I agree with you. There was also um I I like that I did send you a picture of a bracket. Now people saying if you are going to do a bracket, you should do it like the Sun Bell do it. Which, in other words, the number one and number two team, they get a bye all the way to the semifinal game. So they just gotta win two games. But if you are the 12th or 13th seed, you gotta run the gauntlet. How do you feel about that bracket?
SPEAKER_02I hate that bracket. I saw that bracket and I was like, why are we even doing this?
SPEAKER_00So you don't even like you just say just make it a regular season champ? Make why we do it, why are we stretching it out that long? Like you said, there's money in it, but they also they want to make sure their top team makes it to the NCAA tournament. That's really what it is.
SPEAKER_02One round, two, three round, fourth round, fifth round, sixth round. It's seven rounds of the tournament. I understand, like you're gonna give your people who had the regular season a uh upper edge because they did work hard during the regular season, but to not have to play until the what?
SPEAKER_00Sunday. To Sunday when that that's uh that's the women's. I apologize. That was the women's.
SPEAKER_02But still, didn't not having to play is a what?
SPEAKER_00The March 3? They don't they don't gotta play to well March, like I said, March 8th. They so they bracket, so it was it was it was uh Sunday, so they bracket was last week. They tournament was last week, sorry. Yeah. They champ the championship game was on a Monday, so they don't gotta play the Sunday, their championship game was on a uh Monday. Why are we doing that for?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like why is it you didn't have this tournament started on the third. The champion the one and two seed didn't play to the eighth. That's crazy. Like we should we should do that, but I also don't like how the ACC do it in the sense of the the three bottom teams don't even make the conference tournament. Yeah, your season was over, which for your major conferences that the tournament, okay, cool, because they're they are you know they have different caliber of scholarship athletes or whatever the case may be, so they it's more chances for upsets. But you wouldn't have this problem if you didn't have 16 or 18 teams in your daggone league.
SPEAKER_00That's another conversation for another day.
SPEAKER_02You wouldn't have that, you wouldn't have this problem if you had the beat team, had team, or even 12 teams wouldn't have this problem. That's how it was in all good old days. Don't make no sense. The Pac-12 should still be a conference.
Bracket Challenge Plans And Giveaway
NFL Free Agency Max Crosby Twist
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I agree. But uh, yeah, uh again, we have a special episode for you guys next week. Uh, we will be having another bracket challenge like we did last year. Well, there will be a giveaway. Uh, Captain Hader will announce the what the giveaway will be later, but keep on the lookout. We will have a special episode announcing our bracket tournament. So be prepared. We are gonna do, I believe we're gonna do a women's and men's bracket this year. So go ahead and download your app. Be on the lookout early next week for a special episode of when we will be in when in or what the giveaway will be. So keep on the lookout. But we gotta go ahead and switch gears to the NFL because um use the NFL, they have a they usually take over the social media world with our free agency. They did for a little bit until Bam snatched that chain back. But free agency came, uh tampering season, Monday and Tuesday was here, Wednesday things became official, but the big news of free agency was there was a big trade, and I was excited to talk about it too. But before we got to talk about it, the Ravens said, nah, we go, we we we call give back seeds. So they they sent Max Carlos D back, and then they got their first round picks. Some people are saying it was by remorse. I think it was part of Ba's remorse and partly maybe he's not as healthy as he was, but keep in mind, the man had surgery two months ago. He got off crutches last week. He wasn't passing on physical. And for the for the ones that don't know, the physical is not like a pass or fail thing. It's a what do we see? Can we tolerate what we saw in it? So it's one of the it's not like a what happens is they pass or fail. It's a we just checking to see what you look like. Do we like what we see? No, we don't. We're gonna fail you so we can cancel this trade. That's basically what happened. I think part of it was buyers remorse, though, because two first rounds is a lot. I wouldn't have done it. I'm kind of glad my cowboys didn't do it. But Max Crowley's price just went down, though. So maybe my cowboys should get back in there. But how how we what you think?
SPEAKER_02I do you think it's buyers remorse? Uh Trey Henderson came back and said, Yeah, I take it.
SPEAKER_00He did he took less money too. It's it's up to 30 with incentives, but it's 28 a year.
SPEAKER_02He took less money, and I I don't Dion, it feels like it's a little foul play here for me. From my perspective, I could be wrong. That's what the some of the some of the reports are saying that it's some foul play. I could be wrong, but it feels like it's foul play because of the fact as soon as the trade trade get rescinded, it went what was it 24 hours? I don't even think.
SPEAKER_00Trey Henderson was a uh he was a Raven at like 10 o'clock.
SPEAKER_02Say he was a raven at 10 o'clock. I don't think nah, I think it was earlier than that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because we was walking out before. Yeah. It was like nah, bro. It was a man. Look, I feel like it was some foul business. And if if it was foul business, that's that's shame on the ravens.
SPEAKER_00Very much shame on the ravens.
SPEAKER_02Because you failed him. And then you you not only did you hurt his value, and he gotta go back to that team. It's no way of going back. He's never gonna play for the Raiders again. Because you was gonna trade, which he didn't want to play for the Raiders anyway. But then you hurt you hurt his trade value for the Raiders. Because now everybody's gonna be like, nah, he's hurt, so we're not gonna give y'all two first-round draft picks. Now the best they gonna get is a first and a third, or a first and a fourth. Or hell, at this point, they might even get second round picks. That's no, that's shady business. The Baltimore Ravens did some shady business. That being said, they basically got the same player.
SPEAKER_00Uh I I think Max Crosby is a is a level above from our perspective.
SPEAKER_02I I think Max Crosby, I think he's he is better, but I don't think it's that far off.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02Right? I think like if he if he's a if Max Crosby is a B plus, Trey Henderson's a B or B minus. It's it's a difference, but it ain't that big of a difference. You get what I'm saying? It's like your five percent being at 88 instead of 96. You know, you're gonna have it a little bit longer.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02You know what I'm saying? But I get it money-wise, but if I feel like y'all could have just waited to Trey Henderson for that contract. Why y'all just wait for that negotiation to play out? Because I feel like they was having a negotiation with Trey Henderson, stuff wasn't going their way, then they traded for Max Crosby, and then Trey Henderson came back and said, Yeah. Well, I take that because you y'all didn't get y'all didn't give him enough time to mull up um look over the offer or whatever the case may be and give him some time to decide. It feels like it's shaky business, man. It did like I said, you hurt the Raiders. Imagine the Raiders was gonna mess up them two first-round draft picks anyway.
Quarterback Moves Kyler Murray And Tua
SPEAKER_00Hey, hey, and the Raiders spent a lot of money thinking Max Crosby was off the books. And he back on them books, they didn't get as much money as they thought they did. Yeah, they spent a lot of money, they are preparing to be a competitive team next year. Uh I they the Raiders are saying Max Crosby is a Raider. We know they gotta say that, though. They got to, because they gotta build up that trade value somehow. I'll be shocked that Max will probably be on the team a little bit longer. I can see him getting traded like during training camp or stuff like that. He'll be on the team a little bit longer. People are apparently they like this 2027 draft a lot more than this draft anyway. Don't know why. Don't know why people, I don't know why people hold on to I would have the Rams model for real. I don't care about these rookies, unless it's a first two rounds. I really don't care about these draft picks. Take these things, bro. Give me the solidified player, but it is what it is. Um, but that wasn't the only thing that happened with free agency. Um Kyler Murray, breaking news, he is now a Minnesota Viking. Um to a tour got released by the Dolphins, and now he's an Atlanta Falcon, which we can talk about this for a second. I don't I get it for Tua's standpoint, but I guess the Falcons still believe in Michael Phoenix. I at this point, it's not that I don't believe in Michael Phoenix, is you're not available, dog. And okay, you're not available. And I didn't understand Kyler Murray was the best quarterback free agent on the market. If I'm Atlanta, imagine having Kyler Murray, B. John Robertson, Kyle Pix, Drake Lynn. That sounds like money to me. But they went to go with Tua and want to keep stick with Michael Penix. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Here's the thing with Tua, though, to Atlanta.
SPEAKER_02Like you said, Michael Penix. He ain't healthy. Availability.
SPEAKER_00Tua don't be that available half the time, neither though. It's not, it's he's a little bit more available, but it's one with Tua is a scary availability because you know you feel like he's one hit away from being done.
SPEAKER_02And look, I wouldn't assign to it if I'm Atlanta.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_02Because in fact, I don't know what he's gonna do. I don't know when he's gonna do it. You know what I mean? Like, like you said, he is available, but he get hit and then he be missing a game or two.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You know what I mean? Kyler Murray, if I'm Kyler Murray, I don't know. Yeah, it's cool. We can go to Atlanta. And Drake London is cool. Bijan Robinson? Kyle Robinson, B. John Robinson probably be best running back in the game, or the second, no worse than the second best. Right? His name is Justin Jefferson, and all I gotta do is get it over. You know what I'm saying? Hey, Drake London is nice. And it's a no shouch, no shade to Drake London. It's Michael, I mean Pitts, you know what I'm saying? He be no shade to him neither. Right. But that's just Jefferson. Like, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00That's that's top two receiver, yeah. Yeah, that's top two.
SPEAKER_02That's different. And I know they got a good head coach. Atlanta's they got a new, they got a new head coach that's unproven.
SPEAKER_00I mean, he he's he's got a couple coaches of the years, I guess.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he got fired for a reason. What are we talking about?
SPEAKER_00You know what I mean? You're right. But uh yeah, the the Minnesota Vikings do got a better coach. They've shown with competent quarterback play that they can make some noise. Oh Kyler Murray's gonna be the starting quarterback over J.J. McCarthy. Let's just call it Spain to Spain.
SPEAKER_02They don't like JJ McCarthy. That's the thing. People don't be people don't like JJ McCarthy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02People be acting like they don't like Kyler Murray in the two. So I don't know how that's gonna work, but they don't like him either. And Stefan uh Stefanski. I mean, yeah, he got a couple coaches with ears, but again, maybe I should give him more credit. He was coaching the Browns. Okay. I guess I gotta I guess I gotta give him more credit. It is the Browns. Right, he made the Browns a little respectful. All right, I gotta take it back. I gotta take it back. He's still getting fired for a reason though.
SPEAKER_00So he did he did get fired for a reason. But you you you're not necessarily wrong, but I feel like I understand that's Jesse Jefferson right there, and all I gotta do is throw it up. But I feel like it's a l- Now, maybe I'm wrong. The Atlanta, I feel like they have one of the most talented teams that has not shown a lick of anything on the field. And they they end up in the NSC stay in the NFC South, bro. They act like they can't win in it. All you need is nine wins in the NFC South. And they can't even do that.
SPEAKER_02I mean, you not you not wrong. Drake, like I said, I gave all of them that credit. I just is just different to me. Okay, to me, and this is this might sound crazy. He is the closest thing to Randy Moss since Randy Moss.
SPEAKER_00Okay, you know, you know wrong.
SPEAKER_02You can you can beat that. Like I said, Drake London, top team, top 10-ish, top 15-ish rap receiver in the game. I say top 15-ish. He's a top 15-ish. Bijan, like I said, if he's not the best running back in the game, he no worse than two. Yep. Pitts is a good tight end. I get all of that. But if you can play with Randy Mouse, you play with Randy Mouse.
SPEAKER_00All right, good point. Good point. I'm not gonna argue with you too much. You you are not wrong at all. Uh some couple free agency moves that happened, or DJ Moore got traded from the Browns to the Bills. Josh Allen, you got you one. I don't understand why the bro why the Bears did this, but hey, no excuses. You you didn't have a number one. You got a pseudo number one. I don't I don't know, I think he's a great number one, but he's a number one.
SPEAKER_02He's a number one, but he ain't one of the ones.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he ain't one of them ones. Um Kenneth Walker of the Super Bowl MVP, he is with the uh Kansas City Chiefs. Uh Travis Kelsey decided he's going to play one more year. I was a little confused about that one since Patrick Mahomes is coming off an ACL injury. He probably will miss probably the first month of the season, if not more. So he's gonna be ready. I don't see it. Yeah, I don't know. Uh he's I and I've always it's gonna take him a little bit to get going. So I'm not expecting much from the Kansas City Chiefs, but they do got Kenneth Walker. Um Mike Evans, he has ended his 12-year career in Timber Bay, and now he is going to be practicing next to that power plant in San Francisco. So hopefully uh you got stretched extra long, Mike Evans. I know you got history with some hamstring injuries. Yeah, it makes me stretch a little bit extra longer over there in San Francisco. Um trying to see any of the big notable ones. We said Trey Henderson win. Um we said the Ravers, the uh Raiders, they took Tyler Lindenbaum. He has the highest paid center in NFL history. Uh, even Jeff Saturday said he's about to start working out with that crazy contract that the Raiders gave him. Uh that's all the big notable ones. Is there any other notable ones before we go to our respective teams?
SPEAKER_02No, I did like the Raiders finding of the center. I wanted to mention that because they are, we know who they're drafting. They're drafting the quarterback. They are going to give him the tools to be successful. They got a good, they got a good center, they got a good left tackle, and they got a they got a good guard. I draw blanks on their names, though. But they have the makings of a good offense. Hopefully they could draft another like a right tackle or another guard to help continue with the growth of the offensive line. But they drafting Mendoza, so they're gonna give him the tools.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I would have the likes for them if they could have to get him a number one ride receiver. Yeah, don't get me wrong. I know they got Browls, and I know they got Genty, right? Like I know that. But, or not even maybe a number one round receiver, a veteran ride receiver like a Mike Evans. Yep, that would have been yeah, that would have been a good get to solidify him, it's basically like a safety blanket.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
Cowboys And Titans Free Agency Grades
SPEAKER_02So, but don't get me wrong, like I say, because they're gonna do team Browls. He's the best tight end in the game.
SPEAKER_00Yep, you're right. Uh so as we get to our respective team, the Cowboys, they did a little bit, not a lot. They uh traded for Rashawn Gary from the Packers. Uh pretty good uh pass rusher. If uh Trey Henderson is a B B minus, Max Crosby is a B plus. Trey Henderson is a C. So he's not, I mean, Rashawn Gary is a C, not great, but solid, somewhat consistent. We also signed Jalen Thompson from the Arizona Cardinals safety. Uh, those are big two big moves. We re-signed a couple people, but those are big moves. I'm happy with it so far. Uh we missed out on the Kobe Dean. He ended up with the Raiders. They picked up that said the Raiders, they've been spending a lot of money. I wanted the Kobe Dean. We are in desperate need of a linebacker, so hopefully we get a linebacker in the draft. Um, and we probably could use another cornerback. But I'm not too upset so far with the Cowboys have done so far. I give them a C plus B minus. Could have done more, but how do you feel about what your Titans have done?
SPEAKER_02Try to give them a grade. We've been spending money, but we had the most cap space. So we had to we had to go out here and spend some money. Uh I give them a B plus. I won't get um everybody else is acting like it's an A plus. I'm gonna give them a B plus because I also know my team. Um this they got a lot of people that Dayball was familiar with, that has history, he has history with. So I don't know if that's gonna be a good thing or if that's gonna be a bad thing. I know they picked up a center, uh Austin something. Then they picked up the wide receiver from New York Giants Jets. Wendell Robinson. I think I want to say he's a Kentucky native. So we see what he can be. They got they got the cornerback Taylor. So, like I think I said, I give him a I give him a B plus if we gonna weigh and we're gonna see. We did try for that defensive tackle. I wish I could remember his name. They sound mentioned Trubisky is to be the backup. So, like I said, we spent a lot of money. Let's see how this pans out because we have spent a lot of money before in recent years, and it did not pan out as well as I thought.
SPEAKER_00Well, Calvin Rayleigh dropped a bag off at his front door. Dion, don't get me started. And I still couldn't believe when I saw that contract. Hey, I mean, he he's good, but that's that's that dude number one receiver. That's I I'll put Calvin Rayle like a DJ more. Like he good. He a one, but he ain't one of the ones.
SPEAKER_01I'm still mad about that on contract, cuz for who and for what and why? And he ain't he ain't been bad, but he ain't been good neither.
Daniel Jones Deal Breaks Minds
SPEAKER_00Yep. Um, another one I know going going through this list again, Daniel Jones. He received a bag, a two-year$100 million deal. Good move by the coach for re-signing Daniel Jones for two-year$100 million.
SPEAKER_02Not for that price.
SPEAKER_00That's a lot of money. I think he's gonna lie.
SPEAKER_02Coming up, he got a he broke his leg in an ACL injury. A kill was it ACL or Achilles? I thought it was ACL. Okay, but it might be Achilles. It might be ACL. But still, we're talking about a dude that wrote Daniel Jones is his best when he has to run. He ain't gonna be able to run for a while. Even when he plays, he ain't gonna be the same dude. Y'all gave him that much money? 88 million guaranteed, too. And it has the potential to go up to 100 million. Yeah, yep. So they nuts. You hear me?
SPEAKER_01Nuts, I tell you.
SPEAKER_00Well, I'll pop up. It's two years 88 million to potentially go up to 100 million. I saw this two years a hundred million. That's how I saw it.
SPEAKER_02But I think like 60 of it or 50 of it or something is guaranteed. Yeah, yep. No, no way. I'm giving him that much money coming off a broken leg and an injury in the either Achilles or ACL or whatever the case may be. No, I'm not. Not not Daniel Jones. He he for all right, I'm chill.
SPEAKER_00Uh, but we might need to put uh Daniel Jones Aegis Blazer up in the rafters. Let's look at his money that he has received from these teams. Uh, he's received in 2019 25.7 million for four years from the Giants. Then he received 160 million because that 2019 is when he got drafted. He received 160 million over four years. He got 14 million in one year last year with the Colts, and then he got two years worth of 100 million, totaling at 299.7 million. So we can basically call it the even$300 million Darren Jones has made in the NFL. Golly, I should have played quarterback.
SPEAKER_01That's nuts. He ain't even that good. Even when he's healthy, he's a 10 10 through 20 type quarterback.
SPEAKER_0210 through 20? 15 to 30.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. When he when he when he's on, when when Daniel Jones is on, he likes 15. When he's on, he likes 15.
SPEAKER_02The coach was cooking. The coast was cooking. The coast was cooking. But they also lost, they also lost Pittman. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Which is yeah, Michael Pittman, he is with the Pittsburgh Steelers now. Um is Aaron Rodgers gonna come back? Would you keep would you bring Aaron Rodgers back if he the coach if he the stealers? If you the stealers, Kyler Murray would have never gone to the Vikings. You got at least calling.
SPEAKER_02I mean, he probably still would have, but you sure you don't want to come play for the Steelers? Man, I would get everything in my power. Why you know what I'm saying? I would have gave him a bigger bag, or whatever the case may be. I know he got released, so I don't know. You know, the contract.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he got released, so he didn't he got the basically the minimum 1.5 million. Yeah, so pinion, but I would give him a little bit more money, too, because hey, we need you.
SPEAKER_02I wouldn't never, but yeah, so I don't know. I guess you gotta call Aaron Rodgers back because our free agent quarterback is gone. Like Melissa.
SPEAKER_00Just out there, James Wilson is out there.
SPEAKER_02Like I said, all the quarterbacks is gone.
SPEAKER_00So Anthony Richardson. So some quarterbacks, Anthony Richardson. He's out there on the market. Justin Fields is out there. We're not doing that.
SPEAKER_02Pittsburgh already tried, they already kicked the ties on the Justin Fields though. It didn't work.
SPEAKER_00Kurt Cousins is out there. Uh the Cowboys just released Will Gear. Will Geere. He was our backup. So I mean, hey.
SPEAKER_02Like I said, you better call Aaron Rodgers. Don't get wrong, Cousins. I don't know how I feel about Cousins. He ain't he ain't good enough to be.
SPEAKER_00Oh, um, another big one. Malik Willis is with the Miami Dolphins. Um I'm not a big I haven't seen enough to be excited about that personally. I wanna did it, but they got familiarity. The defensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh for the Packers is now the head coach for the Dolphins. So I guess he's seen enough. I ain't seen enough for Malik Willis. You've seen he was a tight. I ain't seen. He looks tight.
SPEAKER_02We quit on him a lot sooner than we we probably should have. But that's the same thing. A lot of teams quit on him. Hell Geno's jet again.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.

SPEAKER_02But back to Cousins. Cousins is good enough to not bury you. That I mean, he ain't gonna make you miss the playoffs, but he ain't gonna also help you make the playoffs. That's how I feel about it. Yeah, you know, if he was if we talk about cousins five years ago, then you you hop on that, but not now. So yeah.
