We react to a wild week across WWE, the World Cup, college sports, and the NBA, starting with how a nine-day title reign can change the way fans view a top star. We also debate what “fair” looks like when leagues rewrite the rules, from NCAA eligibility to NBA teams chasing the next superteam move.
• Sami Zayn losing the WWE title after nine days and what it does to his next big moment
• CM Punk’s return and whether the hometown timing helps the story or hurts the champion
• FIFA World Cup 2026 quarterfinal picture and why the tournament finally has us locked in
• USA vs Belgium frustration and the emotional swing of conceding right after scoring
• Brandon Storce being denied and what a lost year means for development and the draft
• NCAA moving toward five years to play five and the downside for players returning from injury
• Jalen Brown to the 76ers and how Embiid’s games played becomes the real strategy
• League-wide NBA chaos plus the big question of where LeBron James lands

Welcome And Housekeeping

SPEAKER_00

Welcome, welcome, welcome back to another episode of From My Perspective. I'm your boy T H coming to you with another episode. Go ahead and like the video. Go ahead and like the pod. Go ahead and subscribe to the pod. Because like 60% of you guys aren't subscribed for some strange reason that makes no sense to me. But it's all good. If you subscribe, I'll forgive you. But you guys know I'm joined by the man, the myth, the legend himself, Captain Hater. How you doing today?

SPEAKER_01

Man, what a dude is. You already know about your boy, Mr. Bell. AK so your name up on this pod. Might not shoot a mob. What's going on, Dia?

SPEAKER_00

I'm doing pretty

Sami Zayn’s Nine Day Reign

SPEAKER_00

good. Way, way better than Sammy Zayn. After having probably the best nine days of his life, he lost his title on Monday. So if you know lived under the rock, Sami Zayn won the WWE Undisputed Universal title, whatever they call it, the big gold belt. He won it at Night of Champions in a triple-depth match, and he lost it Monday to a returning CM Punk. Nine days. Now, I'm not necessarily mad of, you know, scripted, scripted storytelling. Hopefully they make use of this great storytelling. Making the Sammy might go a little crazy after earning his title after being so long to get it, get to the mountaintop, just to get it taken away by a guy that was on vacation for 11 weeks and just got a title message, just fell out of the sky, which he said before he went on his vacation. But how you feel, Sammy Zayn, nine-day run? I'm okay with short reins. Nine days is a little crazy, but hey.

SPEAKER_01

Cool. Nine days, yeah, he didn't even make it to the next Saturday night's main event. Forget the next PLE. He didn't make it to the next Saturday night's main event. That's is that that's kind of wild, right? Like he uh I saw the Becky Lynch about you know surprising with Kevin Owens, and they had their moment, and that was sweet and beautiful. And he lost the title like three days later. And I get transitional champions, right? But Jinder Mahal held a championship while we didn't say like two months, I think.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god, he even defended it once or twice. Only reason why he lost it because Brock Lesnar wasn't trying to fight him as you know, whatever a Survivor series. He was like, I messed with that. Go ahead, drop at the AJ.

SPEAKER_01

No, you your first title defense you lose. Now imagine I wasn't expecting it. I I was expecting him to win it over in Saudi Arabia, but I wasn't expecting it again. I was expecting next year at WrestleMania. Can you really give him another world title run if you had him losing in nine days?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean, hopefully he's gonna scratch and call, but the the title win isn't not gonna be the moment. It's gonna be whenever he defended. I think if you want to give him another moment, it has to be him successfully defending it. You know, maybe a wrestle media, Saudi Arabia, or whatever. He has successfully defended. Just getting it ain't gonna do it for us now.

SPEAKER_01

I don't I disagree. Oh, you know what I'm saying? I'm being honest with you, bro. I disagree. I don't think the next time, if he wins it again, I don't know how serious people's gonna look at him because it seems like he only held it for nine days. If he had again, if he had to dropped it, again, because they got a Saturday night's main event coming up, I think what two weeks from two weeks from now, I believe. Yeah, if he had to dropped it then, okay, cool.

SPEAKER_00

Defended it on Monday night, and then not even show, but you know, they did it because it's his Chicago, CO Punks from Chicago.

SPEAKER_01

That's another great point that I forgot about. It ain't even you must be on SmackDown. How you lose your title on rock? You feel me?

SPEAKER_00

You lost your day off. Lost your title on supposedly your day off.

SPEAKER_01

So you call me in the work on my off day just for me to lose the title? Yeah. Nah, man. And then I seen the online discourse about CM Punk being a part-timer. I mean, is he really a part-timer?

SPEAKER_00

He just took some time off. Yeah, he took some time off. He ain't a real part-timer. I will say it's crazy though. Like when that WrestleMania match happened between Roman and CM Punk, I thought Roman was gonna be the one that we wouldn't see if it was CM Punk. But I mean, he CM Punk is also old. He needed some time to recover from that bot, that body to recover, you know. There's been multiple times. That man, that man jumped into a crowd and broke and broke his foot, I believe. So he he's fragile, so he needs some time to recover that body.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he uh, like you said, C Punk needs some time. And I get they got they're getting ready to build SmackDown. It's gonna be the punk show. That's what they rebuild. They're gonna build SmackDown for Punk. Okay, cool. Uh, so what what I mean, that means you finally gonna get your wish of Cody not gonna be in a world title pitcher.

SPEAKER_00

I think he still is. I think it's gonna be a multi-person, man. Because keep in mind, even though CM Punk wasn't one to get it, it was supposed to be Cody Rose, but then Gunther, you know, put his paws on him, injured him. He wasn't medically cleared. They had to find a replacement, and the replacement happened to be the guy that they called in. They probably called him in from work. Hey, you home, you right down the street from All State. Just come on in here and get this title for us. That's all they they just called him in to work.

SPEAKER_01

He was off two. I got my um y'all called me in on my update for a world title. I mean, I guess I I guess I can roll down here. You feel me? But let me go strap the boots up real quick. Uh, you I you're right. I guess it will be a multi-man after going after the uh the championship. But ain't Gunther going after Elders now? Aldus or what is the name?

SPEAKER_00

They teased Drew McIntyre in Aldus and they never gave it to us now. Maybe they want to give Gunther another career to retire. You know, it'd be Nick Aldis in the rain career, because I mean they wasn't gonna use him anyways. So I mean, I guess that's something, but I don't I don't care, bro. I'd rather Gunter be in the making a fate of four. I'd rather be Gunther, Cody, Sammy, and CM Punk.

SPEAKER_01

A retirement of a person who ain't never wrestled in the company don't do don't do nothing. At least even Goldberg was like the definition of a part-time. At least he was been in the WWE for some years. Nick Aldis came in in a tie. He never put on no boots. He can't Nick Aldous came in in a tie. So you retire a person who was already in a tie, don't really, I don't know. It don't move the needle, move the needle for me. That's just me.

SPEAKER_00

But yeah, it'd be a multi man match. I will say it ain't neither one of my main events. Whatever they do, I'm sorry, CM Punk. Give it to Brock and Oba and Roman Cell. Those are the main events. Y'all can y'all can have the opener for what night two. Oh, oh.

SPEAKER_01

That's a great point. Damn. Yeah, because yeah, Oba would Oba and Brock would be would be the more celebrated match. Damn, putting the world heavyweight championship as the opener, though.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, it's kind of that's showing how you feel about your title. That ain't a good look. I mean, they they care about the title. I'm sure they could. I mean, what where are you gonna put it at? You can't put it in the middle of the match. That's even more disrespectful. I think it's gotta be, I think it's gotta be Surrey Knight's main event. So you don't know that title is not gonna get defended on SummerSlam?

SPEAKER_01

No. I'm sorry, because SummerSlam was too nice. I meant Saturday, oh, the Saturday of SummerSlam makes it the main event. Yeah. I think CL Punk's defending it as Saturday night's main event. And then it's gonna be another defense at SummerSlam. And I think that would be the headliner for Saturday night. And I think you break, you're gonna have Oba and uh Barack. It's gonna be the opener for one of them fights. Because he is meaning said they want more.

SPEAKER_00

It's either gonna be the opener, but for if I'm the booker, that's my night one main event. It probably would be my night two main event, but ain't no title on the line, so I really can't do that. So it'd probably be my night one main event.

SPEAKER_01

Not for no eight-minute match. No, man.

SPEAKER_00

Now you're right, though. Helen is there, nah. You're gonna tell Brock Lesnar in his hometown. Probably potentially Brock Lesnar's last match.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah, now you're right. It probably does deserve headline, uh, I mean, you know, close up atmosphere and treatment. But I think you gotta put both your world heavyweight titles as your uh as your your main event, your main card, or whatever.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but uh we'll see. We will be talking about it, me and Q. We may bring some other people on to talk about some swimming stuff as the main event, but so we haven't talked about as much and we probably should have, because everybody else has been talking about it. The FIFA

World Cup Fever And USA Frustration

SPEAKER_00

World Cup 2026, it only comes around every four years, and it's a pretty big deal. Let's be honest, a pretty big deal. It's got me and Q watching some soccer. And we, you know, I I know I watch a lot of you know high school and division three level soccer, but I really don't watch a lot of professional soccer. But this has been pretty interesting. Uh, unfortunately, USA got belt to ass put on them against Belgium, but we are at the round of eight, the quarterfinals. You know, we got France, Morocco, they play tomorrow. Spain and Belgium play on Friday, July 10th. Norway and England play on July 11th, and Argentina with some people, some people considering the GOAT being uh Messi. They came back being down 2-0 to win uh 3-2 against uh Egypt. That was an exciting game. I watched that. They go up against Switzerland, but hey, I can't lie. World Cup been pretty cool, unfortunately. USA, they didn't make it past the round of 16, but their run was nice, had a good group stage. I watched a group stage game, and obviously I watched a round of 32 and the round of 16. But outside of that, shout out to the USA. We're not known for soccer, but you know, we showed out a little bit. Now we're gonna focus more on football, though, like we normally do. But Q, how was your thoughts on the World Cup so far? You know, we at the Final Eight. I know you watched a few games.

SPEAKER_01

The World Cup, I don't I'm gonna be honest here, for transparency. I'm not really a soccer guy. So even the FIFA's beforehand, I think I caught some glimpses of USA soccer, but I've never really watched a full game. This year I have been locked in and I have watched multiple full games. Like right now, even though it's a rerun, I got Brazil and Norway on in the background. Right. That's how good the soccer has been that it got me watching games that I already know the outcome. Right, but this had good these matches have been uh in it wasn't, I can't, not versus Belgium, but the thing we uh we played before, I can't think of the USA played before. Bosnia. Bosnia. I I always look for those like stand-up and cheer moments because I don't I have them, but not like you know, that often. Like when my Pacers was in the finals, when Jay Uso uh won Royal Rumble. Like I think I look for those moments when the US made those goals in versus Bosnia. I really was standing up, jumping up and down church. Like I was excited. And my uh I went down to my I went down to my sister's house and my cousin was over and I was I was explaining to him because she was like, I can't even get into it. And I was telling her about how I was excited. She said, You do that with all sports. I said, no, not in this way. It's I don't know if it's the patriotic aspect of it, but it is having me lock in and jumping up and down. Let's be real.

SPEAKER_00

This last I get it. Yeah, I get it. I've been locked in, jumping up. Like I was I was upset, like to the point, like you know, with my cowboys dudes. I was upset, especially because it was that bad of a belt to have on the belt you put, but go keep going.

SPEAKER_01

Man, uh like you said, like my faces be losing, I'll be like, I've been well, Louis Valoose. I just sit there and south, like, yeah. I started looking at all the things y'all could have did differently, and I'm watching that and so I even though yeah, let's be real, but I don't know none of the rules, I don't know how this stuff works. I'm learning it on the fly. You feel what I'm saying? I don't know what's going on. But sitting here watching the Belgium game, and I know that the US has a history with Belgium, which of a history of losing, uh, which is crazy to say. But it's like we picked our worst time to have our worst game. I knew when they scored that first goal in like the first 10 minutes or whatever the case may be, it was gonna get ugly. I already knew it was like, and then we tied it up. Tell me nice. Tell me it's nice. You feel me? I hope he's on the team going forward because I know he's uh he was like an army bred born in Germany, but I hope he's on team going forward, but man, when he tied it up, I jumping up and down excited, not even five minutes later.

SPEAKER_00

There you go. It was literally 60 seconds. 60 seconds right ago. I'm hype. I'm like, yeah, we heard they scored that second. I'm like, oh okay, we still down one goal, we can still win. It was it was the third goal, because that third goal was from B. Like what like it was one of them, like when a when a DB falls, and you're like, what are you doing? Like, or and the and it's like it's one of them where the DB and the safety are pointing at each other, both saying, Hey, you should have had that. It was one of them, like, bro, y'all just gave up a 50-yard touchdown bomb on y'all. That wasn't supposed to happen.

SPEAKER_01

I no, it's like he he won't, it's like he got scared to kick. If he was supposed to be kicking it out, then it's like he hesitated, like, no, we're gonna go cool with the motion. Imagine again. I don't know about something. So maybe there's a reason he was doing that. I don't know, but I just from my perspective, I don't think that's what you're supposed to be doing. And also, bro, why are you so far out there? Yo, get your ass back here, brother. Yeah, I don't know. That's just it. I was frustrated. Once he once that go went in, I was just like, oh yeah. I didn't even see the four go. I woke up even more bad that they gave it a go. It was once new, it's that third goal. Once that third go went in, I was like, yeah, ain't no, ain't no coming back, it's over. You feel me? It's just so we could imagine. I wasn't expecting, I'm being real, I wasn't expecting us to win it because you everything you heard about us in soccer and getting the other countries to play soccer, I wasn't expecting us to win at all. But I was expecting us to be Belgian. Because we was favorite. You know, I ain't a Batman, but we was favorite to win versus Belgium. I thought we were gonna win that one, then lose in the next round, but hey man, everything happened for a reason. But I am let me ask you, are you gonna continue to watch the world, the World Cup?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I'm gonna continue to watch it a little bit, especially no. Uh I'm not gonna be as locked in as I would have been if the USA, but the games, uh I'll be home Thursday. I mean, I'll be home Friday watching the games. I'll also be home Saturday. So I'll probably watch the games. So I mean, if I'm not watching the games, I'm gonna be playing college football 27th. It's gonna be that one of the two. So I might as well maybe check out a game or two. I definitely will check out the finals on July 19th. I'm gonna go watch the whole thing, which I'll see. We shall see how good it is. But so far, the way it's looking, Argentina with some people's goal in our messy, they look like the team, they look destined to win this whole thing in the battle.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we we all know enough about Soccer to have that conversation about it's Messi them gold. But what I will say is that's a bad man that I seen. That's a bad man that I'm watching, and he's not in his prime, too. That's what's even scarier. Oh you know how crazy that is that he's he is like for American purposes, like a Tom Brady or LeBron. You're not supposed to be doing what you're doing at this age.

SPEAKER_00

What are you bro? What are you doing? What what what super soldier serum did they give you?

SPEAKER_01

This is why we and you had this conversation personally yesterday. That's why I think soccer is the hardest part to play because of the simple fact. It's like it really is like artwork on on the soccer field a little bit. And I don't think everybody can do that. And Lionel Messi is watching him do it looks easy, but I looking at everybody else, they don't do it as smooth as he do it.

SPEAKER_00

Him or uh Mbappe, uh um Kelly Mbappe. Them two.

SPEAKER_01

I can't think my son came asking me about the 18-year-old kid. I can't think of his name. But my son came down here, you know about him? He liked that. So now I got now I'm gonna be following his career. Yeah, and what he does. I can't think of his name. I know he ain't gonna be playing in America because you know the big money's over as far as yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you know, America, we don't care about soccer for reason.

SPEAKER_01

But we're getting better though, honestly. As far as Kern, I feel like as a country, we are getting better. Because like I said, this FIFA, we actually it's everybody random is watching this. As a word, the previous FIFA, they wasn't as big. Imagine it is in America this year, so that might have something to do with it.

SPEAKER_00

Well, yeah, but again, no FIFA World Cup, the fact that it's been wasn't in North America, all three of the host countries, Mexico, United States, and Canada, all got sent on packing. So, hey, they came to our front door, knocked on our front door, slapped us, told us to come outside and fight, and we still didn't do nothing. So, hey, we didn't defend home turf. Mexico, USA, or Canada. Gas to do better than that.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, yeah, but I we how it's looking, because I've been now I've been looking up FIFA rules and where the places is gonna be. There's a possibility that it's gonna be back here in 2030, 34. It's 38. It's 38. Yeah, it's possibility about their rules. A continent can't host it back to back or within like a two uh two-round spin. And but no other team, no other country has ever hosted it within a 12-year spin, but they ain't got nowhere else to go.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because they can't go to Asia and they can't go to Europe. And I also heard that a lot of countries they've hold like they hosted. USA is different. We already got these big old stadiums ready to go. All they had to do was put grass out there. The other countries, when they tell them they they host it, they gotta build these stadiums from scratch. And then when they leave, it's like, well, what we do with it.

SPEAKER_01

So that's what happened with uh Qatar. Qatar still got all of those stadiums because they held they held the last one. They still got all them stadiums, and some of them's not even in use for they trying to repurpose them.

SPEAKER_00

So parking garage and stuff. Hey, it is what it is. But speaking of those big old stadiums that's being used, we gotta talk about, you know, sometimes they're being used by college football games. College

Gambling Fallout And A Lost Season

SPEAKER_00

in general, there's some new rules, but quickly uh Brandon Storce, we didn't talk about it. He got denied for the sub-room draft. So basically, he's not gonna be playing football for a whole year. So he gets that punishment that he probably should have gotten, hopefully does his time and trains and he's ready for the 2027 NFL draft. You could with him basically taking that one-year punch, or as you play, maybe he should at least put drafted to a team.

SPEAKER_01

I don't do you the NFL has a history of like you did some stuff in college, don't mean we gotta allow you to come here. We can set the rules, we can suspend you if we feel fit. And it's basically what this is. It's basically your suspension of you was gambling okay. All right, cool. You can't play her, you can't go back to college unless he wanna drop down to like a D2 or D3, which makes sense for him. Uh so yeah, it makes sense. If I'm if I'm him, it's just me to prove that I can play. The CFL season is going on right now. I no, they already told him no. They told him no. And the CFL.

SPEAKER_00

I see I didn't know the CFL had already told him no. They already told you no. Best thing he can do is go back to Texas Tech. I can't play. Just let me, you know, be on the Practice squad a little bit, train with you guys. Hey, let me keep keep myself right. Let me be your practice squad quarterback. Now, some people might not like that, but hey, he ain't gonna be playing, just and that's gonna keep him in shape. But yeah, CFL already said no. And it wouldn't make sense for him to go to the uh UFL because that's all the way into springtime, and he's trying to get into the draft, which is green. So yeah, that don't make sense for him either. But the Houston Gamblers, that's right up his alley. You out of pocket. That would have been right up his alley.

NCAA Eligibility Goes Five For Five

SPEAKER_00

But the other bigger news that happened in college sports, not just football, but all college sports, they changed it. Uh used, I I couldn't even tell you what the rule used to be. I'm gonna tell you what I was told when I went to college, and this is division three. I was told you get five years to play four years. That's what they told me. Now, because of COVID and all this other stuff, we got seven and eight-year guys playing. Medical red shirts was a thing mostly at the higher divisions. You tell your ACO they feel bad for you. Sorry, told you to tore your ACL three weeks into the season, we'll give you another season. Now that's done with, NCAA came out with a new rule and basically said, hey, you get five years to play five years. You tell your ACL that fifth year, sorry. You don't technically there's no more red shirts. So hey, five years is all you get. You can play all, you can play five years. So they they was tired of the eight-year seniors. I'm interested in seeing how it affects people. I know apparently there was some it's not gonna affect basketball, it's not gonna affect football as much, but they basically say the five years starts when you either enroll in college or your 19th birthday. And that 19th birthday thing was like to stop like the Europeans from coming over when they getting the fresh five, they coming over at 22 years old and get a fresh five. Starts at your 19th birthday. So we'll see how that works. But how you feel with five years? You just get five years.

SPEAKER_01

I okay, I'm gonna be honest here. I don't like seven, eight-year seniors, but I also don't like the the red shirts being gone completely. Because if a person tears they ACL, that's I know we see people like Jason Tatum came back quick, but that's really like a year and some change type of injury. So that's basically you know almost two years gone or a year and a half gone. So I wish they still had some mechanism for like a red shirt season. Just one, not saying be at her seven years, but like one red shirt season. But I also like the fact that, like you said, it started with the 19-year at night at your 19-year-old birthday, because in fact, you got these Europeans coming over here at 23. And then they got four years of eligibility eligibility. You shouldn't be here at 27. You ain't even taking no classes for real. At this point, like I understand that the idea of a student athlete is over, but there should be some element to tied to the education skill because of the fact, yo, man, that's you're playing for a college, you're still playing for a university, so there should be some element of education. I was listening to Donovan Mitchell talk, and he was talking about Lamar, right? And the first year Lamar, Lamar, Donovan Mitchell was there, you would see Lamar around campus. He said by that second season, just so happened.

SPEAKER_00

You didn't see all your straight online classes.

SPEAKER_01

Everything was online, everything was online. And that's how that's how it is. As soon as people touch it out in the campus now, people ain't going, they ain't walking. If you the top level athlete, you ain't even walking around school. You ain't got no, you ain't even really taking no classes. Uh that was just a whole nother tangent. Back to the five for five. Like I said, I like the ideal of it. I just hate that. Like you said, in a senior season or junior season, you turn your ACL, your career's over.

SPEAKER_00

Basically. Unless you unless you put some good tape out there, because let's be honest. No, we hear about probably what, 90% of them guys of football, basketball, they're not going to the next level. And even more percentage, they're not playing a freshman or sophomore year. They're not playing, most people don't play meaningful minutes until they junior year. So I do get that. Like, man, I've been here for two years, you know, running scout team. I get a couple minutes here and there. I finally get my starting job, my junior year, my senior year, boom. Toured. Or toward my Achilles. I I come back my uh my five my fifth and final year. I mean, I'm playing, but I ain't right. I could be better if I had another year, but hey, I gotta use this last year because I I ain't got nothing else. I would I gotta rush myself back from injury, might return. So I I get that.

SPEAKER_01

But here's the other thing I'll other thing I want to say. Well, I want to ask. How many people do you think this really affects? As far as going it actually going to their fifth year. I know probably more men's basketball because dudes is still, you know, hunting around. But especially like football, they'd rather have the younger dudes.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. It just well, depending on some some teams like them older guys. I think because probably some people don't get, like I said, most people don't really get meaningful starting minutes until they junior year. Yeah. They were trying to get a lot of film for no two instead of two years, they get three years to show that they done something for the next level. So hey.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I mean not football. I meant basketball because basketball in the sense of the fact that like the pros cats look at you.

SPEAKER_00

If you talk about basketball, yeah, don't feel them for once you once you're a junior, they're not looking at you no more for real.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, like football, you're right. I'm I got to say the wrong sports. Football, they would prefer the older dudes because it's more of a physical game. But in basketball, if you better say you get to your fifth year, you you're not going pro. So they don't really care that much about it.

SPEAKER_00

Overseas. They're going overseas after that.

SPEAKER_01

Well, at that point, you might as well just I mean, you know what I mean? Just do what you gotta do at that point.

SPEAKER_00

But so yeah, I go. Uh, but there uh before we do change, there is some exceptions. If you go on like a mission, so basically, if you at BYU, you gotta go on a mission. They sometimes they go on mission, so you get that exception. And then another exception I saw was fraternity leave. So, how long do you think it'll be till a player tries to get another year because their girlfriend had a baby? Next year.

SPEAKER_01

Everybody's gonna try to system. It's next year. It's next year for sure. But you think uh uh is that just applying to women's sports? You think they're gonna allow that to play up for the men's sports?

SPEAKER_00

I think it probably should only apply to women's sports, but they might it's gonna be a player, it's gonna be a man. Hey, my girl might not even be this serious girl, might have just been a one night stand. My girl, she had a she had a she got a baby. I gotta sit out there.

SPEAKER_01

I'm expecting a channel, regardless, right? I'm expecting a child. So I gotta be here, but then I can't focus on I can't focus on whatever sport I'm playing right now.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, it all just lines up perfectly. Yeah, yeah, we'll

Jalen Brown To Philly Breakdown

SPEAKER_00

see. But let's go ahead and uh talk about the big trade of the NBA that I think is I didn't get to talk about it because it happened after we pod. But Jenny Brown is now Philadelphia 76, and I think this is a big move. Um, I'm gonna get Q's opinion, but I think this makes Philly, you know, as long as Joe M can give them 40, 50 games, that's all they need from him. I think this makes them a definitive top three team in the East. And I think they'll finally get the monkey out there off their back and get past the second round at the very least.

SPEAKER_01

I do think they get past second round. I think you you hit the head that I the head hit the head on the hell of the nail. Uh Joel and B now only needs to play 40 games. You don't he don't gotta feel forced to be out there for 60 years.

SPEAKER_00

If I'm you ain't playing no back-to-back stuff. You all them awards that first team NBA, that NBA MVP, all defensive team, all that you ain't getting none of that, Joey, because you ain't gonna you ain't gonna meet the game requirements. Don't even look at me.

SPEAKER_01

All you gotta do is play, all you need to do is play enough so they can have some chemistry. And really, that's you know, later in the season, because of the fact at the beginning of the season, you want Jalen Brown to get comfortable. You want Maxi and BJ Ashkrone and uh Brown to figure out some chemistry because at the end of the day, that you know, that's your future going forward. Imagine Brown and uh and B's contract do kind of they they expire at the same time. But I think the for Philly, like we talked about with the Giannis trade, Miami won the trade because Giannis is the best player. Philly won a trade because they got rid of an agent, Paul George, and they got Jalen Brown, they got the better player. Young do better, and he can do more at this point because Paul George is aging than what you know I'm saying, what Paul George was capable of doing. The fit, they're gonna have to figure out the fit.

SPEAKER_00

I know Tyrese thought it was his team, it ain't no more now.

SPEAKER_01

But I disagree though. I still think it's Tyrese. I still think it's Max's team. I don't think it's Jalen May. Well, one, I think Jalen Brown's probably the better player. Hmm, is Jalen Brown the better player?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, am I just saying that because I'm a Jalen Brown fan? You saw what Jalen Brown did with a team that we thought was punting on the year. Tyrese Maxi doing that. But Max. It was just him and VJ out there most of the most of the time last year. He ran in the MVP conversation.

SPEAKER_01

Making me be Captain Hater on the person who you know I'll rock with. But let me play devil's advocate. Was Jalen Jalen Brown put those numbers up? But who else did he have to share the rock with? Peyton Pritchard? His second best player was Peyton Pritcher. So he was he had the opportunities to put those, to put up those better stats. Tyrese Maxie.com was ascended. We we saw what he was doing those first couple games, and then he continued to play well. Yes, Paul George got suspended for 20, 25 games, I believe. But Paul George was still there. As well as whenever MB did play, Maxie had to, you know, share the rock. Maxie didn't have the capability or not, let me know, not capability. He didn't have the rope that Jalen Brown had. So maybe that's why I'm like, they probably closer, they probably closer than they both top 20 players, but they probably like 18 to 19. So, and then you add on the fact that Maxie's the point guard. I think Maxie probably is still your team, but you're gonna have to take a little step back because we gotta get Jalen acclimated.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, definitely gotta get him acclimated. But hey, like I said, top three team, they'll definitely make it past the second round. Jalen B, you ain't playing no back-to-back since you know. Make sure you're healthy for the NBA playoffs. But we gotta talk about the boss inside of it, and they basically traded Jalen Brown for a back for box of uh potato wedges, a washed up Paul George, and a couple more first round. That's basically what they got him for. And apparently, they asked for G VJ, they was like, nah. From my perspective, I asked for G VJ, okay. I'm I'm I'm shooting too high. I will, I was going, I was, you know, I'll ask for Paul George and VJ. He said, no, VJ, I'm shooting too high. Now maybe the money wasn't right. Maybe I'm just thinking silly, but why not ask for M B too? Instead of V instead of VJ, what's up with M B? I'm leaving that with at least two players. I'm not just Paul George and some picks. The money wouldn't work.

SPEAKER_01

No. The money wouldn't work with bring out any endeavor. I mean, with Embiid and Paul George going to Boston, then you would have had to trade uh proprietary Tatum. Because that's the contract. That's how the contracts would work. Uh now, that being said, I will say Embiid. If I'm Boston, would you rather have him beat Paul George? That's something that I didn't even think about. And that's a great point. Would you rather have Paul George or would you rather have him be? Paul George fits fits the way that Boston plays better.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because he basically basically uh uh older version of what Jalen Brown is.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, exactly. He could dribble a little bit better. That's the one thing I would give, but no shade to Jalen Brown. But Embiid is the better player, and they both two injury-prone players. So I don't I feel he probably wasn't gonna come off you L or B, but at the same time, he only 40-50 games and how he's gonna really play anyway. So that's a great question. If I'm bossing, I think I would have run ahead and beat than Paul George, but I mean Paul George fits like six.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and also uh this is gonna be a very important year for Jason Tatum. I hope I hope you're healthy, man. Because if you you waffle, you not know if you're not in an MVP conversation, people gonna be looking at you funny in the light. Cause it was already a debate. Who it at no point did Jason Tatum was in any trade discussion, it was always Jalen Brown. So you got a lot of pressure on you. You know what you saw what happened, you saw what Jalen Brown got the team. You gotta do basically something similar. Hopefully, you're healthy, Jason Tatum. It's gonna be a big year for you.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, Jason Tatum's gonna have to have the year that Jalen Brown had last year. It's just as simple as that. For this trade to make sense, or for it not to look as crazy, Jason Tatum's gonna have to have the year that Jalen Brown had last year.

SPEAKER_00

But uh, so but that's still a lot of moving going around.

NBA Dominoes And LeBron Watch

SPEAKER_00

Giannis to the Heat, Lamelo ball to the Wolves, Jab Morant to the Portland Tril Blazers. Um obviously Jalen Brown's in Philly. Those was a lot of moves happened. Do you have a favorite move from what's going on in the NBA? Obviously, the last one last dominant fall. LeBron James, he hasn't decided his team yet. Looks like it's between Philly, Miami, and Cleveland and Golden State, you know, those four teams, one of those teams, we'll see which one. But outside of LeBron, where he could possibly go, what other moves, what other moves are you excited happen and looking forward to seeing how it plays out?

SPEAKER_01

If I had to talk about the trace that already happened, I think Mello to Minnesota, the more I think about it, because I was kind of down on it last week a little bit. But now the more I think about it, them two are gonna put up points. They're gonna be a fun team to watch. Yeah. Well, that too. That too, but Mellow's gonna push the ball, Anthony Elvis to get somebody that he can run with. They I still think they need a power forward because I don't think Jaden McGill is a power forward. I think he's just my forward.

SPEAKER_00

So I know he's valuable at times, but there's also times he's a liability out there, man. So I Rui Hachamora wouldn't make so much sense in Minnesota, but I know the money. Oh um, Rui, the Lakers said nah, they uh it's the it's the white show down there in LA for the Lakers, but Rui said he's staying in LA and going to the Clippers. So hey. Also Kawhi to the turret rap because that was the one that I failed to mention.

SPEAKER_01

Uh I do want as far as like potential left, uh Benedict Maverick, of course he used flights of faces, so that's why I know him. The Clippers ain't offer the machine yet. Come on back. I'm saying, like, if we could get the person we traded and we get Zubox, I'm cool with that. All right, then it's like, all right, cool. We just lost the we just lost the draft pick. All right, it's cool. I know it probably ain't gonna happen like that, but it would be dope to have Matt Burn back on the table.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he was very valuable in the uh NBA finals two years ago. But uh uh other teams that know teams that really haven't made much noise is um they did well in the draft, you know. OKC didn't make no much noise. The Sand Antonio Spurs, they and uh I think it's I think it's his dad or uncle Tobias Harris. You need to put your uh your agent slash dad, you need to put his little sweater vest in the rafters, man, because y'all don't see how you still getting paid. So he's with San Antonio, you know, two Western Congress teams. They didn't do much, but did they need to do much? Probably not.

SPEAKER_01

I was just gonna say, San Antonio did what they needed to do was go get holler at Tobias Harris because they needed the power for. The only other thing they could have did was go get LeBron.

SPEAKER_00

And I don't see LeBron going to San Antonio. I do I do think they need to do one more thing and get them another. I don't know what Luke Cornet is doing, but they probably didn't get them another backup center. This team played on Wimbe minutes. That's probably what I don't know who's out there. I'm sure I didn't, I don't know that I probably didn't want to give the DeAndre Aiden. The Wizards man, they got how they got so many biz? They got DeAndre Aiden's scar and uh AD. Like what's going on? What they what they got cooking up up there?

SPEAKER_01

I don't think AD's gonna be on that team for too much longer. Okay. I'd be sure if he's not, but all right. I just don't because like you said, they got so many they go, they got so many bids. Because Star can move to the Power 4D for store eight if you trade Anthony Davis. I feel like this is a lineup for a setup for Anthony Davis on his way out that door. Because he won a contract extension, and I don't think they won't give it to him. But they gave one to Trey Young, but whatever.

SPEAKER_00

And uh

Tanking Rumors And Portland’s Guard Logjam

SPEAKER_00

I don't know if you heard this. I saw you know a little rumor, a little rumor I heard, and then we'll see if it's true. But apparently the Wizards promised Trey Young a contract if he chose not to play. So they didn't get a top pick. Now we know we've been talking about this whole this whole you know tanking thing. I believe it, but I don't think they're gonna find any type of proof that that's what happened. But I believe that was a handshake deal. But without proof, there's no punishment that they could do. If there was proof, you know, what would you what would you do if you uh commissioner Adam Silver?

SPEAKER_01

It's nothing you can do because ain't no proof, but I had heard that too. I heard it a couple weeks ago, like it was a handshake. Like you said, it was a handshake deal. Hey, don't play this year. But we got you. Like you said, there's no proof. They said this on the phone.

SPEAKER_00

What no text messages? What no emails? Probably didn't say it on the phone. They probably said this face to face, closed doors, windows blind shut.

SPEAKER_01

Well, he got traded up early. The first thing they did, hey, don't play this year so we can get this pick. Yo, what you want? What you want on the extension?

SPEAKER_00

We got if there was proof, I would have told, I don't know if Adam Silver had the power, but if there was proof, I'd be like, hey, contract voided, Trey, you gotta go to another team.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but I also would take picks too.

SPEAKER_00

So y'all can't build Yeah, yeah, they get they get you gotta take some picks from you can't technically take AJ from now. That'd be doing wild stuff. Yeah, that would be a lot of I'd I'd tell Trey Young, you void that contract, find your new team, and then I would take some picks from DC.

SPEAKER_01

I think Churry would sue, though. That's why I wouldn't. I don't know if you could do that. I don't know. Because I think Cherry would sue. Oh, hell no. Nowhere else. Trey Young's not gonna get that money nowhere else. So you you ain't got no choice. He he has to sue because he wants that bread.

SPEAKER_00

Uh another thing that we try to figure out what's going on is the Portland Traver Blazers, they have a lot of guards. They have Damian Lillard, you know, that was uh no Damien Lillard, Drew Holiday, Scoot Henson, and John Morant. You know, so I I saw somewhere that they said maybe Damian Lillard should come off the bench. And I also heard that ain't no way that Damon Lillard is gonna get asked to come off the bench. So it's probably gonna be Scoot and Drew Holiday coming off the bench, but I think. Scoop or Drew Holiday's getting traded? More so Scoop. I was getting ready to say.

SPEAKER_01

I honestly think probably both of them is gonna get traded. If I had to put money on it, I would put money on both of them. But I don't I think it's gonna be. You said school, I think it's more likely Drew because of the fact he's a proven, he's a proven asset.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, championship winning asset, yep.

SPEAKER_01

But Scoot is younger. Imagine Scoot is younger, but he did, you know, he has he did struggle, but he has played better these past, especially last year. He played a lot better. Uh but I think Drew is the more proven guy, so the proven commodity. So I think Drew's gonna be the one to get traded. Imagine he's making $30 million a year. So I don't know. Oh, he could go to Boston because they got a trading section. I don't I don't know if it's 30 million. I think it's only like 20 million. I think Drew's contract's 30 million. So I don't know, but Drew's out of there. From my perspective, Drew, it's 100% Drew's out of there.

SPEAKER_00

All right. We'll see what happens, but yeah, that's the craziness of the NBA offseason. Again, there's one big domino to fall. Where will LeBron go? Like I said, it's between Golden State, Philly, Miami, and Cleveland. We shall see. My vote is either Miami or Cleveland. If I had if you had Miami pick, I'd probably say Miami because that's more of a championship winning team than Cleveland, because Cleveland has James Harden. We know how far that goes. But hey, T, what's your opinion on that?

SPEAKER_01

I don't think Miami's the better team, though, because they ain't got nothing else to write. Philly's the best if he wants to win the championship. No, I'm talking about between them two.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, between them two.

SPEAKER_01

Between Miami and Cleveland. I don't think, I think Cleveland's the better team because of simple fact they got the center, they got Mobley, and they got Mitchell. And then Mitchell just got his contract extension. Shout out to him. But you're right in the sense of LeBron and James Harden. I don't know how that's gonna work. I don't know, I don't know how that's gonna work. That's another thing. I really don't know how he's gonna fit in Miami. He don't really fit on Miami at least because both don't.

SPEAKER_00

Miami don't got the only thing they miss, they don't got the shooters for LeBron, though, you know.

SPEAKER_01

I'm just gonna say Giannis need Giannis and Bam need shooters. You add LeBron, he's not a shooter. But also, both of those teams is gonna need him to play small forward. LeBron can't play small forward no more. I figured he'd be playing more point guard for Miami. Who he gonna guard on the other? That's why I say he's gonna be.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah, that means he ain't sending no chair at age 42.

SPEAKER_01

That's why I'm saying he needs to play foul forward because of the fact. If he plays point guard, yeah, I mean on the offensive end, he's gonna play point guard. But who he's gonna guard on the other? Is Giannis guarding the smile forward? Is Bam guarding the smile for? Because it ain't Lamar.

SPEAKER_00

Everybody sitting in that chair. So lots happening.
