Welcome, welcome everyone to Local Living. We are a community podcast for Palm Beach to Parkland. I'm David Conway, your host for today's episode. And with us, we have Yariana Baccia. She is the founder and the owner of Aesthetics by Yari. Yari, welcome to the podcast.
SPEAKER_01:Hi, how are you?
SPEAKER_00:I'm doing great. I'm excited to have you today and learn more about your business, learn more, a little bit more about you. Don't worry, we won't pull the peel the onion back too far. But why don't you start off, Yari, by telling us uh a little bit more about aesthetics by Yari?
SPEAKER_01:Sure. So I started Aesthetics by Yari actually just this year, um, in May. Um I am offering all medical spa services. So I am offering IPL, microneedling, Morpheus 8, um, all injectables, biostimulators, uh, peptides, um, vitamins, um and oh, and of course neurotoxins. So like your Botox. Um, and I and I'm that's what I'm that's what I'm doing right now.
SPEAKER_00:Okay, so you mentioned a few things that I I've gotta be honest. I don't know what they are. I'm gonna ask you a little bit more about them, but yes. Why don't you start off again by telling us a little bit more about your journey? How did you get into the industry? Um, were you were you working at a at a doctor's office? So you wait. You're a nurse practitioner, is that right?
SPEAKER_01:I am, yes. So I my journey started. Um, I was doing internal medicine prior to having my twins. I have three boys. I have twins that are five, and I have an almost four-year-old boy. Um, so I did internal medicine for about three years. Um, I loved it, honestly. Um, however, when I got pregnant and then had my my twins, um, I found that it was very difficult to manage my time as a mom and also working in that field because I was on call a lot. And, you know, you have patients that are very sick and need you all the time. Um, so I made a transition into aesthetics. I had a friend who told me about it. She had a family. She said, you know, try this. It's gonna like it's incredible. The schedule is more flexible. I think you'll like it. So I transitioned. My first job was actually at a place called Ideal Image. Um, and and the schedule worked a lot better for me. So I'm still learning a lot. I still get to do science, I still get to treat patients. However, my schedule is a lot more flexible. Um, because like I always say, you know, if I have something come up with my children, people are not gonna get sick if they don't get Botox right away, right? Like it's something we can reschedule, and I don't feel terrible about it. Um, unfortunately, when I was in internal medicine, it was the opposite. People needed things right away, and it was just something I could not provide at the time.
SPEAKER_00:So it seems like I always assumed that most in your industry kind of came up focusing on the beauty aspect more on the aesthetics, but it seems like you really came more focused on the medical. Is that right?
SPEAKER_01:That is right. I will tell you actually. So when I first started again my journey, I remember the day I told the two physicians that I worked with, one of them was my boss, and I told them I was gonna be transitioning to aesthetics. And they looked at me like I was insane. And they said, You're gonna get so bored. All you're gonna be doing is Botox every day, the same thing you're not gonna be learning, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And in my head, I was like, they're probably right, you know, because I I again I love, I just love treating patients, being around people and just helping them in whatever manner that I can. And um, so I kind of looked at it like, I guess, like not a medical job. And then once I transitioned and I learned about the world of aesthetic medicine, I was, I was in it. I'm obsessed with it. I mean, there is so much to learn all the time. I get to go to cadavers and and learn the anatomy of the face. Um, I get to inject if I get to do health management and on the wellness side. So like your peptides and your IV vitamins and things like that. So yeah, I was definitely never saw myself doing this ever. I mean, if you would have asked me six years ago, which is around the time I started this, you I would have told you, no, I'm never gonna do that. I'm gonna stay in medicine. That's what I studied. I worked very hard in NP school or nurse practitioner school to learn medicine. Why would I do something else? And here I am. I'm taking courses, I'm forever learning, I'm doing going to conferences, again, anatomy, cadaver labs, everything to learn this whole new um field and aesthetic. It's not new field, but for me, it's it was a new field in aesthetic medicine. And I continue to learn all the time because it's forever evolving and changing and growing.
SPEAKER_00:You know, science was my least favorite subject in school. I've got to be a little transparent. And and I don't think I've ever heard anyone say or with such exuberance that they get to go to cadaver labs.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, I love it. I love, you don't understand. I am like, I guess you could say, like, I'm like such a nerd. I will seriously, even when I was doing medicine and I was, you know, treating patients back um doing internal medicine, um, I would sit in my bed on my phone and I would like try to learn more about like EKGs or how the heart functioned, or I don't know, just I find it so fascinating. Um, and now I'm doing the same thing, but I'm doing it in aesthetic. So I'll sit in bed once my kids go to bed and I'm doing like a webinar and learning about different newer Botox techniques, let's say, or the anatomy of the cheek. And I just like I find it fascinating. I think it's so fun.
SPEAKER_00:Couple quick questions and quick answers. So you mentioned a few products. I have no idea what they are. I think you said IPL. Is that right?
SPEAKER_01:Yes, yes, yes.
SPEAKER_00:What's an IPL? Okay, so not an IPA, right? It's an IPL.
SPEAKER_01:It's an IPL. So um, it's intense pulse light. And what that is, it's a machine that uses light therapy. Um, and typically people you use sorry, use it on the face or the neck or the chest or the arms, and it gets rid of sun damage. So all those little brown spots that we get.
SPEAKER_00:Becoming more and more familiar with each and every passing year.
SPEAKER_01:That's why I say you got to wear sunscreen all the time. Um so what that does is it helps to treat that. So it comes up to the surface of the skin and it kind of flakes off. And it also helps with retinas, rosacea, um, broken capillaries. It's an amazing, amazing uh piece of technology.
SPEAKER_00:Okay, next one, Morpheus A. I think you said Morpheus A. I've never heard of that. I have no idea what it is. What is Morpheus A?
SPEAKER_01:Okay, so Morpheus A that uses microneedling with radio frequency. So it helps not to like firm the skin, it helps with the texture of the skin, it goes subdermally to restore the skin and the and the tissue. So it really helps with um not only like fine lines and wrinkles, but really to like help lift. Um, and then it also has um a function on it where you can melt fat permanently.
SPEAKER_00:I feel like I should know this one because we hear it all the time. Peptides. What what are peptides? I hear it all the time and I act like I know what it is, but I really don't know. I really don't know what they are.
SPEAKER_01:So that to me, I'll I'm a little newer to as well. So I'm the type of provider, it takes me a long, like a while to get into something unless I feel comfortable with it. I've learned a lot about it, I've used them myself. So I just um recently got into peptides. I'm doing courses on peptide university. Um, but they're, I mean, they're incredible. They're um chains of amino acids that help your body do different functions. Um, so for example, like your GLP1s, like your semiglutide and your tazepatide or osempic wagovee, um, those are peptides and those help to lower your blood sugar, help you to lose weight, control your appetite. And um those can be used. There's um one called BPC157, for example, and that helps with healing and ligaments and muscle and everything. So it's really interesting. There's a ton of them out there. Um, I'm I'm I know most of the most popular ones, um, but I'm I'm learning and growing more into that field of peptides.
SPEAKER_00:So for someone thinking about maybe having some sort of um work done or have having uh doing something to improve uh the way they look and feel about themselves, or are there any myths or misconceptions you find that uh people might have when they first come to you?
SPEAKER_01:Oh, a hundred percent. We're in, or I'm in Boca Ratone. So people always assume that they're gonna leave. I mean, new people, new patients. I'm not talking about patients having with me for a while. They think they're gonna leave the office looking crazy, like huge lips and huge cheeks, and they're not gonna be able to move their eyebrows, and or their eyebrows are gonna be up to their scalp. And it is such a misconception. And I understand it because they see what's on TV, they they see there are some women walking around like that, and that's fine, but you have to understand that it's it what matters is how I treat you. So if you tell me you want to look natural, I will make you look natural. And that's 99.9% of what I do. Um, I love for my patients to look natural and just refreshed and like, oh, like they've slept really well and they're using amazing face creams and they look really good, but you can't tell why.
SPEAKER_00:Um really is an enhancement of sorts of things.
SPEAKER_01:And it will enhancement. Yeah, definitely biggest misconception. They think they're gonna be frozen and and this and that. And I I once they sit in my chair, I'm very big on educating my patients and I let them know, like, no, that's that's not what I do. Um there's different ways to use fillers. We've come a long way with aesthetics, where there are a bunch of different, like a variety of fillers, a variety of neurotoxins, which is like your Botox, and they're all meant to do different things so that you look natural.
SPEAKER_00:So I know you have a a new business. You're you're you're pretty new here in Boca, at least with your own business. I know you've been in the industry for quite some time, but when you're not focusing on your business, which I have a feeling is most of the time.
SPEAKER_01:Most of the time.
SPEAKER_00:Well you mentioned you have some kids. What do you what do you like to do for fun?
SPEAKER_01:Uh spend time with my family. Um, I have, like I said, my three boys. Um, it's been the since I started my business, it's been the first time since I've had them. Five and a half years I've been able to do bathtime and dinner time with them most days of the week. Um, I was never allowed that because of the schedule that I used to have, but now um I schedule myself. Um so spending time with them on the weekends, we'll go to the beach. They love going in the pool. I love doing all those activities with them. And I love um hanging out with friends and my husband.
SPEAKER_00:We're we're lucky to live here in South Florida, aren't we?
SPEAKER_01:Oh, yeah. We're in the pool almost every single day. Thank God for that, because it makes the boys very tired. So that way they go to sleep.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, and that's a great sleep too. So, you know, as you've you've come through, you worked in, you know, you went through medical training, intense medical training, really, and you worked in the industry and traditional medicine, internal medicine. Um, and now you've you've taken the leap to open and start and found your own business, um, aesthetics by Yari. Do you draw upon maybe a challenge you had in your life or something you went through that you find is benefiting you now?
SPEAKER_01:Um, yeah. I mean, I growing up was a little difficult. Um, my mom was a single mother, she worked um all the time, and we didn't grow up with a bunch of money per se. Um, so it was it was difficult for all of us. I mean, for my mom, for my I have a sister and uh myself, we didn't really get to do all the things that other kids did um because it was not affordable for my mom. Um, so with that said, I feel like that made me want to succeed in life. Um, and I always told myself too that when I had children, I wanted to provide that, provide for them in a way that I like I did not have, and then my mother unfortunately could not give me. So that made me work harder. And um I think that's where I it it could be seen as a bad thing, but I see it as a good thing because it I feel like it made me stronger, it made my skin thicker per se. Um, it made me more empathetic too, I think, towards people and things, just because I've I've fortunately but unfortunately seen a lot of um negative things growing up. Again, now I'm an adult, everything is wonderful, I have a beautiful family, but that's that is what I wanted, that is what I work towards very hard because I did not want um my kids to go through anything that I did.
SPEAKER_00:Sure. That's such a great attitude. And you know, the more you get out there in the world and and we meet people and and when you spend a little time with them, you realize we all have our story, don't we? We all have our story, and it's great that you're using your story to better yourself and better others in your industry. Um, can you tell the listeners something that you want them to know specifically about aesthetics by Yari?
SPEAKER_01:Um I think what I would like to them to know is uh my patients honestly become friends. Um I'm I'm very blessed to have amazing people that come and and I think that I I make them feel comfortable enough to not only be there for their treatment and to help them feel better about themselves, but they also open up to me and it's great. I mean, we we really build a really nice relationship. Um I'm there to educate. Um, I never pushed. I don't like pushing. I know a lot of these um medical spas can be very pushy with sales. I don't like doing that. Um I'm gonna make you feel comfortable. I'm gonna make you feel beautiful. I'm gonna give you what you want, I'm gonna listen to you. Um, and I genuinely like you've heard me, I love what I do. I really do. So I'm always trying to strive to be better, um, a better provider and both for the patient and to make everything safe and make them look beautiful.
SPEAKER_00:You know what is such a testament. I know from speaking with you prior, a lot of your patients they sought you out, right? They knew you, they were comfortable with you, and this helped to put you in a position where you were able to take this leap and open aesthetics by Yari because you earned the trust of your clients and you were confident they were gonna come and find you, and they have. Congratulations on that. So, how how can people reach you, Yari? If they want to reach out and talk more, maybe come meet you and discuss some possibilities, how can they get a hold of you?
SPEAKER_01:So um, I have an Instagram. My Instagram and my website and my Facebook are all aesthetics by yari. So www.aestheticsbyari.com. My Instagram handle is aesthetics by yari, and so is my Facebook. Um, I also have a business number that I always tell people, please feel free, you can call me, text me. Um, that number is 561-607-6904. Um, oh, and another thing I going back, sorry, that I think makes me unique is I tell my patients I'm available. Once you're my patient, I'm available to you 247. Um, I will answer your text if you feel like some type of concern or something, um, you have a question that may be, you know, something like, oh, this bruise looks a little odd. I'm kind of nervous. You can text me at 9 p.m. at night. I will be there.
SPEAKER_00:24-7. So, okay, I gotta ask. So now, does anyone take you up on that? Have you ever gotten the late night text? I mean, it's great that it's available because I would it's available and I really know. If I come in and I get work done or some enhancement, I'm gonna take you up on that. No, I'm just kidding.
SPEAKER_01:No, then listen, I I have people that are are comfortable. I have I've had um a few patients, it's like 10 45 at night, and they're on um, they feel like their cheek is like a little swollen and they're worried. And I tell them, take pictures, come see me tomorrow morning, keep me posted. Same thing if they're on a GLP one, like a semi-glutide. I I'm not even kidding. I got a call one time, like 10 45. She drank too much, too much wine, and it made her extra nauseous on the GLP one, and she was concerned, she didn't know if that was gonna, you know, cause more side effects. And I and I meet like I called her because it takes a few minutes out of my time to calm somebody down or to see what was going on, you know. They're my at that point, they're my patients. I want to take care of them.
SPEAKER_00:1045. That's awesome. It was not the GLP one, it was the wine, ladies and gentlemen.
SPEAKER_01:It was the wine with the GLP one, makes you a little more sensitive. But yeah, I was like, girl, you're gonna be fine. Just drink some water.
SPEAKER_00:So once again, Instagram, Facebook, website, aesthetics by yari. Yep, and then yari is y-a-ri.com.
SPEAKER_01:Yes, yep. And then um, I I also offer complimentary consultations. So if anybody wants to come in and just learn more about my services, um, as long as schedule an appointment with me and I'll be there.
SPEAKER_00:That's awesome. Yari, it's been a pleasure to have you today. Thanks for joining us. That's been wonderful.
SPEAKER_01:Thank you so much. I really appreciate it.
SPEAKER_00:Once again, everyone, this was Yariana Baccia. She is the founder and the owner of Aesthetics by Yari. I'm David Conway, your host, and we look forward to having you back on local living next time.
SPEAKER_01:Perfect. Thank you so much.
