Speaker 1:

Welcome to our podcast, designed for psychologists, therapists and counsellors who want to take their business online and live a soul, nourished and profitable life without compromise. If you want to know the secrets used by practitioners just like you to navigate the global e-learning market successfully, then you're in the right place. I'm Dr Talib, chartered Psychologist, business Mentor and your host, and welcome to the Abundant Practitioner Podcast. Today, we're going to be talking planning for 2025, right, we are closely, very rapidly, approaching the end of 2024, and it's a perfect time, before the clock strikes 12 on New Year's Eve and heading into 2025, to sit down and really redeclare what do I want? What exactly do I really want within my life? What exactly do I really want within my business? What exactly do I really want within my business? Yeah, now I'm going to focus on business here with you right now. Right, because that's what I'm here to do is help you with your take a moment to really think about what do I want when it comes to my business? What do I want? What do I really want? Right, if I could start again, some of you might need to ask that question. Right, if I could start again? I got a blank canvas, right, and the question is there open wide what do I want to create? Who do I want to help? How do I want to help them? Right? What type of revenue levels do I want to generate? What type of impact goals do I want to have? Right, what do I want?

Speaker 1:

Sometimes people find it hard to write down what they want, and then you can start with what you don't want and then maybe you'll start to shift into understanding what do I want, right? So that's the first starting point when it comes to understanding the vision for the next year, or the vision for the next decade, or whatever it might be right is knowing what do I want? Where am I heading? You've got to allow your mind to go to work and really start to see what is it you are moving towards, right, so that things can arrange itself for you and put you on that right step. So this is very, very important and that's the question I want you to write down what do I want? What do I want? What do I want? And I would encourage you actually, over the next seven days, to ask that question to yourself again and again and again, maybe even taking some time in silence, and again, maybe even taking some time in silence, right? Or out on a walk, or when you're in the gym or doing exercise or whatever it might be right, maybe you're a mom and you're up breastfeeding the night, right in that moment. You know, whatever it might be, whatever it works for you. But draw that question to you, to your mind, right. What do I want If I was to put aside all fears, all concerns, all?

Speaker 1:

Is this possible for me? What would other people say? Would people afford it? You know who like all of this noise. Just remove the noise for a moment, right, and come back to what do I want. What do I want?

Speaker 1:

Who would I help? Who would I start to help, right? Right, I know so many practitioners, coaches, consultants Right, they are natural born helpers and healers and they just want to help everybody. They want to heal the world, right, yeah. But I want you to really think, like who would you start with? Right? Who are you going to start with? Yeah, so who do you want to help first? Who's really called in your heart to help first? Right?

Speaker 1:

What is it that you just are fired up to talk about, to just jump out of bed and just be like, oh, I just want to do something about this. I want to help people with this. Right, that's what I want you to bring to the forefront. What is that Right? If you got a call tomorrow or today and was like, hey, I need you to come and be on this TV show and talk on this, what would that be that they would say to talk on? What would just be like right, I had a call like that last week. Guys, literally, yeah, so you know, like that can happen, right, but what is it that you feel like? Oh, you know, if you were called to go and create a TEDx right now, what would you want that to be on? Right, if Oprah got hold of you and said, hey, we need to meet up and have a conversation, what would you want to have a conversation with her about? That? You want to share, not about what she wants to share, right, but you want to share. Yeah, think about that. Really, sink back into the mission. It might be totally different to what you have been doing, and that's okay. So what do I want? Who do I want to help? Right, what impact do I want to see Lives? I want to change Revenue. I want to help, right. What impact do I want to see lives. I want to change revenue. I want to be making take home. I want to have right. What is that? I want support. I want to call in. How do you want to be supported? Held, you deserve support as you grow and expand. How do you want to be supported, right, nurtured? Yeah, think about all of those things. What do I want? Flip side. Some of you might start on the flip side.

Speaker 1:

I said sometimes it's hard sometimes for people to say what they want because they're so used to not thinking about what they want. Oh, I don't want to think about what I want, in case they jinx it. I don't want to share what I want in my head in case it doesn't come true. I don't want to disappoint myself, right, if you don't put in your mind what you want. It's like saying you just want to go somewhere but not putting in the sat nav a destination point, right? So you've got to map out and mark out where you're going. You've got to map out and mark out where you're going and you can change that, right. Like if I decided you know, I want to go to Wales for Christmas, right, I could start and head out and maybe, as I'm approaching, like, on that journey I go, I think we should go Wales, you know, I think we should go Lake District, right, we can change the sat nav to re-navigate to where it needs to go, but we're going to start on that journey, so it's okay to update where your, what your vision is.

Speaker 1:

I think it's important to come back to your vision because as you evolve, your vision evolves, all of it evolves. So you've got to come back to that question what do I want? Right, even beyond that, right, many of you know that I am a lover of god, right, yeah, and so I lean into. What is it god wants me to do? Right, that may be pulled in for some of you. You may really sit in and lean in, like I can really feel God placing me on this path. Right, maybe it's not what you want, you know, you're not sure, you're not quite caught up there, but you can feel that call of like this is where he wants me. Now I'm'm going to be obedient, all right, I'm going to be there, I'll catch up and want it too, right, so, but ultimately, you've got to have a vision in mind, right, know the vision, right, the vision, make it plain, right.

Speaker 1:

So very, very important what do you want, flip side? What don't you want, right? What do you no longer wish to tolerate any longer, what doesn't serve you, what is holding you back? This might be environments, your own mental environment, things you're telling yourself, right? This may be physical environment, yeah, things around you Like, maybe it's just physically where you work from, you're just like doesn't align anymore, don't like it.

Speaker 1:

Why Get specific in the detail? Maybe it's people, maybe there's people around you that are just not vibrating on your level In terms of the same frequency. Nothing wrong with them, no judgment, right, people are people. Yeah, we're all people. So, but it's recognizing what don't I want, so, but it's recognizing what don't I want.

Speaker 1:

What am I settling for? What am I putting up with? Because I guess I better be grateful. I'm breathing. You know, let's do more than breathing. Yeah, right, yeah. So be honest with yourself. And that's why I say sometimes people find it hard to write what they want, because those things, those narratives, are going around in the back of their mind of, like, I should be grateful for what I have. You know, I'm breathing, I'm okay. Right, we can be grateful for what we have and desire more and connect with our moreness and connect with where we're going to next, where we've been called to grow to next.

Speaker 1:

So what do you want and why? Really, really important, right? So, once you write down all those things, and you can write however you want, right, you can type. If you want to type right down all of those things and you can write however you want, right, you can type if you want to type. Right, if you want to write bullet point um, spider diagram, right, it doesn't matter, yeah. However, just pour it out. Pour it out on the page again. Tomorrow or later today, spend another.

Speaker 1:

What do I want? Just keep pondering that question. What do I want? If your mind goes, I don't know what I want, I want you to ask yourself if you didn did know what you want, what would you want? Right, yeah, okay. So don't allow your mind to tell you you don't know. You do know. If you did know, what would you write? What would you say? Nobody has to see this, it's other than you, right, but you've got to understand. What do I want? Then, after having that list right, is to look at it, reflect on it and be like, out of all of this what I'm putting down in terms of what I want for my business. Right, and you can do this, I said, for different areas of your life. Yeah, if you would like to.

Speaker 1:

When I look at that, what jumps out that would make the most impact in 2025? Right, what is jumping out, like circle around it, what would make the most impact in 2025? And you're gonna limit as to like four things. You're gonna circle, yeah. So if you was to really go for this, like, what do I want when it comes to my business? I'm going to list it all out. What would have the most impact? What would have the most impact? Yeah, and what do you want? You're thinking about what people you want to work with, what kind of products you want to have, right Services you want to deliver. Jot it all down, right, how you want to show up, expand. You want to write and write, and write, and write, and write, and write, and write and write and write. Right, just write it all out. Might be a hundred things there, it's all good.

Speaker 1:

Then you're going to look at it. You're going to be like what's going to have the most impact for 2025? Where am I going to start? Because you can't start on all 100, right? Yeah, so we're going to focus in for the year and be like what four elements are going to be needle movers here, and you're going to just do a circle around those.

Speaker 1:

Those four elements are going to be needle movers, right? Then, each one of those elements, one by one, you're going to take those elements and you're going to write down the steps that you would need to take around it to meet that goal. Right? So you might pick something. Maybe it's a program. You're like, yeah, that program, it's got to get out there, right, you might pick that one program, right? Remember, I'm saying four things. Right, that one thing, you're gonna pluck it up. What would need to happen around there to meet the goal that you were imagining for that thing? If that was the needle mover that you looked around it and you was like, actually that is the needle mover, right, that fills me with excitement. That seat fills me with, where I know there's gonna be impact. Right, there's gonna be results movement. What would I imagine needs to happen around it? What kind of tasks would I need to get done? Right, how many people would I need to impact?

Speaker 1:

So you're going to start breaking this down in a bit more detail, add specifics right, you want to add specific details to it and as you do that, for that one thing, you can then make a plan of action around it that you can utilize for quarter one. Right Focus in you want to go deep before you go wide. So the wide is what do I want? Right, it's all out there.

Speaker 1:

But as you go into 2025 2025 if you're going to make some huge moves, you want to go deep with an area. You want to pick that area and be like this is what I'm taking off the shelf and I'm putting my focus in. I'm going to go deep with that. I'm going to be intentional with that. I'm going to understand what needs to be done around that and I'm going to drive forward. I'm going to reflect and, with that, I'm going to understand what needs to be done around that and I'm going to drive forward. I'm going to reflect and refine and improve and see movement and see it shift. Yeah, and you're going to do those. With those four things. However, what else is important to consider? Right? Who will you need to be to be who will you need to be Right? How will you need to show up in order to ensure that you are rolling up your sleeves and doing what needs to get done.

Speaker 1:

Right, we can't just sit in the vision. Right, there's power in visualizing it as done, in seeing it as done is seeing like yes, this is how I'm operating, this is what I'm doing, this is it, it is done, it is here, right, god sees this for me, I see this for me. It's there, right. But we've got to drive that forward with action, intentional action, powerful action. Right, rolling up our sleeves like yeah, right, resourceful thinking as well, resourcefulness of like oh, if that didn't work, there's another way for it to work. How do I shift it? How do I move it? Right, got to be resourceful in our thinking and not be like you try one thing ah, maybe I picked the wrong thing on my list right, right, and you go winding down into, like, this whole space where you don't then move and do anything. So you've got to be hungry for that.

Speaker 1:

Activated. I call it right. I don't say desperate, yeah, I don't think anything great comes from desperation mode, but amazing things come from activation mode. Right, activated on fire, alive, like purposeful driven. Yes, I'm going to make it happen. Right, the devil is alive. What is going on, I will press forward, right.

Speaker 1:

That kind of like a challenge comes up. You're like not today, right, we're going to figure this out. Okay, you know that type of activation, right. That type of question, that type of motivation so, who do you need to be and who, what parts do you need to let go of? Maybe there's some thought habits, right. Maybe there's some thought habits, right, that you have that 2024 can hold on to them. Right, you're not bringing it over into 2025. We can all develop and evolve as people and it's about appreciating that.

Speaker 1:

Right, you didn't know what you know until you know it. You didn't know how to walk until you learned how to walk and you still had to stumble and fall and crawl and do all the things before you did it. Right, and you didn't stop trying, because maybe you didn't hit the mark at nine months, right, maybe you didn't hit the mark at one years your first birthday, maybe you still weren't walking, but you did it eventually on the timeline that you had, right, that God had in store for you. So, also right, we want to have these intentions and these timelines. And we want to have these intentions and these timelines and we want to set, like some time, specific goals to motivate us, to activate us. Yeah, because if we have a timeline, we're like, yeah, let's go for it, but if we don't get there in that time, it's OK, just be like OK, cool, that wasn't the time, let's reset, keep going, we just reset, we keep going Right. No-transcript right.

Speaker 1:

A childlike ability to succeed is I've not done it yet. They don't even know the yet, right? They just know that I'm going to walk sometime and I see it around me and I'm going to model and I'm going to see and I'm going to look at the praise, right, and so really, really important to activate that as you drive forward. So what do I need to let go of? What am I even telling myself, oh, I'm no good at this, right? Oh, I tried something before. It didn't work, right, got to put all of that away, strike it out, forgiveness, work, letting go, work, letting go right, just let it go and renew right, be renewed, become renewed. Process of renewal, right? So this is a process of like, wow, how far have I come? What have I done? What have I learned? Right, I would say as well. Well, like to those in the academy, I'm like you know, it's not just when you're putting something out there the earning potentials. That's not what we're looking at, right, what's all about the learning potentials? What did you learn as well as you put it out there? Right, you want to recognize that as well. Yeah, so it's not all about earning, earning money, money, money, right, like it's about impact and learning and evolving and becoming. All of that is part of the process.

Speaker 1:

What support do you need? What do you need to invite in? All, right, what do you need to invite in? There's another um youtube episode. What is it being called? It's like loves. If you, you said loves, I think loves is on the on the banner, but it's about, like, time management and it's like you know, where do you need to invite support in for yourself? Right through delegation? Right, you could probably delegate to some people in your home that are, like they're living beings in the actual house that could do more to support you to have more time. Right, you could probably delegate and or get support by the meals getting delivered to your home or something getting delivered to your home or something. There may be some levels of support that you can gain to allow you to have capacity to pour into where you need to pour into, right. So, by loves, what I mean is L is for lower, lower.

Speaker 1:

What are the things that you are doing that you need to lower the amount of time you are spending on that so you have more capacity and time to pour into what you need to do for these goals. Right, these might be things these might be thinking people yeah, boundaries, oh, outsource. You could outsource in the home. Right, before you know so, many people are like, oh, I need to hire a staff team. Think about your home first. Right, have you outsourced as much as you can within your home, the support within your home? Right, having people come in. Maybe somebody could come in and support you, clean, or whatever it might be.

Speaker 1:

So you've got more space, time, energy, instead of walking up and down the aisles looking at the. You know what butter should I choose? Or whatever? Right, eliminate that. Just create a shopping list online, done In the basket, gone, delivered to me. Right, how do we optimize our time? We all have 168 hours a week, every single one of us, right? God didn't give you one more hour than me, or me one more hour than you. We've all got 168 hours. So we've got to look at that.

Speaker 1:

What things do I need to void? Am I spending time on stuff that I'm really not moving the needle to what I want to do? I'm throwing way too much on netflix, right, cancel the subscription. Yeah, stop watching it. Right, utilize that time for something more meaningful. Yeah, scrolling looking at what everyone else is doing.

Speaker 1:

What do you need to void, right, remove that's what the V is, e expand. What do you need to? Once you lower, outsource and void, could you expand your time in? Expand your time into learning Things that are relevant to moving you forward? Right, you need to elevate your skills around marketing. Then learn about marketing. Right, do the things that will optimize you there. So maybe you expand there. Right, if you're saying you don't have time to move your body or go for a walk or spend with the children, if we lower, outsource or avoid some of these things, you'll have time to do other things. Right, and then stack. Stack is an amazing one, because sometimes you might need to stack time right. Turn your commute into a library where you're learning. Right. Turn your car into a library right, you might need to stack. You know, I've seen many amazing people come through the academy that have so many responsibilities and commitments, but they stack time. They're cooking and preparing food for the family and they're learning. Right, they're stacking time, so they're optimizing. So what's support? Right? And then do the work.

Speaker 1:

How do we shift a plan into action? We do the work and we reflect, we reset every single week, every single week. On a Sunday or a Monday, you sit down for half an hour. You say how did I win the week? What did I do, well, what am I going to intend to do next week? What powerful thinking am I going to have as I drive? I win the week. What did I do, well? What am I going to intend to do next week? What powerful thinking am I going to have as I drive forward for the week? How am I going to look after myself? I remain nourished, and then you drive forward and you start again. Right, you reset, you take a moment and you reset each time and you do the work and you power forward. Right, you run towards the vision. You run on fire and activated, joyful. Right, you run for it. Yeah, you see the vision and you run forward for it.

Speaker 1:

So those will be the things that I would say when it comes to planning for 2025, that's how I want you to think about your planning, okay. So this is definitely something that's how I want you to think about your planning, okay. So this is definitely something right that you are going to want to listen to again. Okay, and in terms of that, right, like the other things I want to say before we have a connection around this is the other things right when it comes to marketing and moving your business forward, revenue-wise right. Decide what's the revenue target. Right.

Speaker 1:

Think about it as well. Think about it right. Like, let's take a moment to think about what feels achievable in terms of I'm all for unrealistic, I'm all for quantum leaps. Right, I'm all for it. I've seen it in my own lives. I've seen it in other people's lives, but I'm also all for you setting goals that inspire you, activate you and don't freak you out, so you don't move. Right. So you've got to think about it as well.

Speaker 1:

In terms of revenue target. This is what I want to hit. I can see it. I can run towards it. I know I can do this. It feels like a stretch, but I know I can do it. I'm going to try and know I can do it, so it's got to be. It feels stretchy. Yes, right, it's not going to be like, ah, yeah, yeah, right, you want to feel the stretch, but you don't want to feel it so far that you don't even move because you're like I cannot do it. Right, yeah, like, you want to be able to run towards it, right.

Speaker 1:

So think about your revenue target, what that is, that you can run towards it and like, yes, I'm going for it, right? You also want to be able to think about translate that into specifics. How many of what would you need to sell to make that? Get into specifics, break that down. How many would you need to sell a month? Or how many would you need to sell a week? How many would you need to sell a day? Right? How many would you need to sell a quarter? However, you want to break it down, but how many would you need to sell?

Speaker 1:

Now, in order to sell that, you need to speak to more people than you would sell it. So you want to expand into the specifics of not just knowing. Actually, I want to get this revenue goal, and that means, again, this get this revenue goal and that means, again, this many clients. But therefore, you want to times that by five or even ten additional people that you would need to get in contact with, that would want to talk about it, right, and then we want to expand that in terms of, well, what did that mean? Where would I want to? What would I do to bring those people to me that I would then talk about it? And that's why I'm a big believer around having like an amazing, like just useful, rinse and repeat marketing strategy that you can go and you can do again and again and again. You can refine, you can audience build around it. You can really develop people around it as well.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so really, really important to recognize, like, what am I putting in my business that I'm going to repeat and I'm going to repeat and diarize it right, diarize it. You know one of the things that I shared in my retreat and that they were all working on you can get yourself one on Amazon. Guys. It's like a 2025 year planner, right, get yourself a planner right, a wall planner and on that planner, put like a marketing event that you're going to do, and do that event every six to eight weeks. Like, repeat it, repeat it, repeat it, repeat it. Put it in your calendar, plan out the whole of 2025 of when you're going to do that same event. You're going to get better, you're going to optimize it. You're going to get more people there. Maybe the first time you do it right, one of my clients the first time she did her event, she had 15 people right. The second time she did her event, I think she had 300. The third time it's 800, right, you want to repeat it. You want to get better. Give yourself a fair chance by giving it a go again and again and again, and chance to optimize it. So that's what I want to say there as well.

Speaker 1:

And then planning for rest periods right, planning your rest. Think about you're going on holiday. You're going to take some downtime. You're going to like how are you going to rest? Right, rest and revive yeah, you want to sprint and you want to slow down, sprint, right, slow down, sprint. Yeah, see each quarter as a sprint, right. So, with every quarter, think about when you can put in that nice, after a 90 day period, a nice bit of rest. Not too long, right, but long enough, right. Rest, catch your breath and go again. Right, every quarter is enough to do enough at what most people do in a year, okay, so that's what I would like to say about planning in 2025. I really hope that serves you and serves you well.
