SPEAKER_00:

Welcome to Reclaim Your Voice, and I'm your host, Sarita Gianchiani. Reclaim Your Voice is a podcast devoted to empowering you to find your voice, awakening from the prison within, and shedding toxic beliefs to find your true authentic self. This podcast is not about folding into stories that we have told ourselves and holding on to narratives that keep us small, clinging to invisible boundaries, but to empower us to walk into and embody our truth. Change our reality to become an alignment with our authentic self, our missions and our dreams. Each podcast will leave you with key takeaways that you can implement into your daily life and begin the process to living in your truth. Thank you for joining us today. Welcome back to Reclaim Your Voice. So I've been on a short hiatus. I'm sure you probably noticed. Well, it wasn't short, it was probably about a year. I was trying out a few different things, different roles, but I am back. I missed Reclaim Your Voice, and we're back with some gusto. So I want to tell you about this next couple of podcast episodes that are going to be released, and it's on the nervous system, dysregulation, trauma, and somatic practices can that can help you regulate your nervous system. So let me tell you a bit about how I got into this and what led to this focus for the next couple of podcasts. I was, I've been working with a personal coach for some time, and she's absolutely amazing, and she does a lot of work around um the nervous system and being dysregulated. And I was like, okay, yeah. And, you know, she's talking about that when you're trying something new or you're leaping out to new adventure, whatever it may be, that there are these protector parts that come online. And it's that they're trying to keep you safe, right? Based on past experiences, things have happened, and it's it's your body's way of keeping you safe and out of harm's way, whatever that may be or look like. And I was like, okay, but it really didn't make the connection with myself. And then I was talking to somebody else just about things I want to do related to my work and how I I don't always follow through, or I don't kind of there's always something holding me back, basically. And we're talking about imposter syndrome and this this perception of okay, what will other people think of me, and and how that is what's stopping me from going forward in different areas of my life. And then now when you're working with somebody and whether it be in therapy or coach, it's so important to open up about different facets of your life. And there are certain areas that I just did not want to talk about. And this one day I was just chatting about something that happened and was relating it to my childhood, and then all of a sudden, it was like she's like, Hey, Surrey, just gonna stop you right there. We've been focusing all this time on maybe it's imposter syndrome, this perception of how do people think of you and see you. And she's like, you know, I don't think if it's any of this, it's this need to please people, and it just stopped me in my tracks. And I thought for a moment, oh my goodness, that is exactly it. And it was just this moment that was incredibly powerful and also just melted that expectation and that pressure I'd put on myself. It was so transformative. And it was through that, and as we were talking just about how how the past, how our experiences shape us, and you know, through these conversations, I was like, oh, you know, this this dysregulation of the nervous system. But it really struck a chord that day, and I began to see just how important and powerful this work is, and also we need to be open to it, right? And that's part of our own things that we have to go through, but it's just so powerful. So I thought, okay, we have to have some episodes on this and dig deeper into this, the nervous system being dysregulated, and how somatic practices can help us. And as I started going down a rabbit hole about this, because I just became so fascinated after I don't know how many years of working with somebody who does so much work in this area, and it's just it's what struck me is just how sometimes you don't even realize it's on autopilot that we have these protector parts coming through. If you notice patterns in your life, um try to think back like, why isn't it that you're not able to capitalize on moments? Go forward. What is it that's holding you back? Sometimes you're not aware. And the other thing that I found so interesting is sometimes we don't need to dive into knowing the why on this deep level. And I think that's so important to take a moment and pause on because our brains are such that we always want to know the why. Sometimes it's recognizing those patterns that are really important as well. I've got some guests coming in to talk about trauma informed practices, dysregulation in the nervous system, and what this is all about. I really hope that you'll find these next couple of podcasts informative and eye-opening to what might be happening. If this is something you've ever been curious about or you've heard about it, I think this is something that's really getting a lot of uptake now as well. So I am so excited and happy to be back with Reclaim Your Voice and a quick reintroduction as it's been some time. I am your host, Surreya Giangiani, and Reclaim Your Voice is a podcast about finding and diving in and being your authentic self. In the world we live in, there is so much that tells us who we should and shouldn't be that we over time lose ourselves, lose who we are. And so this podcast is about rediscovering our authentic self and bringing that out. Um, and you know, if you've listened, listened to the first episode, and I'll drop it in the show notes, it was all about my journey in this area and how I lost a sense of who I was. I didn't even know what I liked and what my hobbies were. Can you imagine? And this happens over time. Sometimes we just get so stuck in doing mode that we forget about ourselves, or we get messages throughout our life that tell us how we shouldn't behave, and we're told, Oh, you're too loud, or this is too much. And then we just begin quieting with aspects of ourselves, bearing them, and then we start to forget who we are. So this podcast is all about reclaiming your authentic self, whoever that may be for where you are now, and stepping in to recognize what are those wants and desires that you put on hold in your life? Maybe you wanted to go back to school, maybe you wanted to pursue a career in counseling, maybe you want to go take a dance class or an art class, or maybe you wanted to go and take an automechanic class, whatever it may be. What's stopping you? And to just begin to pause and go, hey, am I acting and making decisions for something that I would like to do and explore for my own kind of fulfillment, what brings me joy, or am I doing things for others? And I'm not saying that's wrong, but I think we need to find our sense of self to have that fulfillment so that it gives us capacity to help and serve others in meaningful ways. And so that is what the focus of this podcast is about. I hope you join me on this journey, and I look forward to hearing from you, connecting with you all again. It's been a it's been a bit of a break, but I'm so rejuvenated and ready to pick this up again and see where we go. So wishing you a beautiful day, and let's get ready to dive into the nervous system.
