 On Today's episode, the POZ 5 is honored to sit down with a legend in Philadelphia college basketball: the longtime head basketball coach of Saint Joseph's University. 

Phil Martelli

Martelli is best known for his long tenure as head coach of the Saint Joseph’s University men’s basketball team. He led the Hawks to seven NCAA Tournament appearances, including a perfect 27–0 regular season and an Elite Eight run in 2004. That same year, he was named AP National Coach of the Year. Over 24 seasons at Saint Joseph’s, Martelli amassed over 400 career wins and was a four-time Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year. Since 2019, he has served as associate head coach at the University of Michigan, helping guide the team to multiple NCAA Tournament runs. 

Martelli played point guard at Widener College (University).
