Will You Survive "Sinners" Part 1
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
A knock at the door, a soft voice asking to be let in We go deep on Sinners, the vampire tale that honors the old rules—no entry without an invite, silver that burns, sunlight that judges—while twisting the myth with a hive link that shares sensation and pain without erasing choice. That thin line between connection and control frames our central question: are these vampires puppets, or corrupted souls still capable of mercy?
We dig into the Smokestack twins and Preacher Boy as the moral core of the story. Stack’s refusal to kill Smoke—his drive to turn, not destroy—turns vampirism from pure hunger into a tragic theology. If the life of the flesh is in the blood, then drinking becomes a doomed attempt to feel whole again. The movie’s small details make that argument sing: war-torn tremors, a cigarette rolled by a steadier hand, a protective mojo bag, and color cues that foreshadow fate. Even the humor works like a blade, easing tension without breaking the film’s logic or its stakes.
We also tackle the film’s cultural weight. Sinners places Black characters at the center of power, peril, and choice, without flattening them into symbols. It stares down the politics of invitation, the performance of politeness at the door, and the violence waiting outside. Along the way we compare classic lore from Dracula to Interview with the Vampire, talk through new-strain theory and agency, and challenge whether the movie was overhyped—or quietly masterful. The final blaze, the withheld bite, and a brother’s embrace linger because they ask something bigger: what does it cost to keep a promise in a cursed world?
If you enjoy story-first horror, sharp lore, and debates that respect the rules, hit follow, share this with a friend, and leave a quick review telling us whether Sinners nailed the myth—or broke it in the right ways.
Banter, Setup, And Spoiler Warning
SPEAKER_02Hello, survivors, and welcome back to another episode of Will You Survive the Podcast. And today we watch the movie Cinners. But before we get into that, we have our two co-hosts. We've got I'm Alex.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna wait. I want a proper introduction host.
SPEAKER_00We've got the mustache king himself from Los Angeles, California. Welcome back to the podcast.
SPEAKER_02From California zip code.
SPEAKER_03Is that the German is 1839? South South Street. South South Street. Everybody knows I'm from that south-south.
SPEAKER_00South?
SPEAKER_02You could say you're an SS member.
SPEAKER_00Whoa. Part German. He's a part of that SS clique.
SPEAKER_02We can't get this wild, bro. We can't get this wild. Hello, Josh.
SPEAKER_00Hi TJ.
SPEAKER_02Uh fuck you. Kill yourself. Said that. Anyways. I just wanted you guys to shut up so I started the episode. Um, I I got that.
SPEAKER_03I heard. We were talking about toaster shootles, and you cut us off. It was a very important conversation.
SPEAKER_02It was so important.
SPEAKER_03Can we get back to it actually?
SPEAKER_02Today we watched the movie centers. It is a 2024 five 2025 film from Ryan Kugler.
SPEAKER_03One of those 2020s movies.
SPEAKER_02One of them 2020s is made in the 20s. Um it's a great movie. It's a vampire movie. It's also a uh cultural movie for me and my brethren, the whites. Okay. Um and really did them wrong in this film. Yeah, they really did my people wrong in this film. Uh I just think it really shows all the death and destruction that those people caused to my people.
First Impressions And Vampire Tropes
SPEAKER_03You know, okay, I I've been oddly uh this is gonna sound weird. I I've oddly had a lot of talk about about um slavery i in like the media that I consume. I just realized I watched a couple of podcast episodes that kept referencing like Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad and slavery, and I'm like and and then you you suggest that we watch this movie, which you've been saying for a while, but it's just funny that like I swear this week uh is like flooded my feed.
SPEAKER_00Which just for consistency, uh spoiler alert, because this is a new movie, newish.
SPEAKER_03Oh, it is within two years, yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's 2025.
SPEAKER_03Spoiler alert. Anything we talk about, this movie could spoil the movie if you haven't seen it, but I feel like a lot of people have seen it. You should go watch it.
SPEAKER_00Not because it's good, but you know.
SPEAKER_03You don't think it's good?
SPEAKER_02You know, this is high key. If you think this movie's bad, you're racist. Um be honest.
SPEAKER_00This was classic. Only TJ would pick to watch this movie.
SPEAKER_02Only pick good movies? I think Mr. Cooties. What the fuck are you talking about?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, this is coming from the guy who picked War of the Worlds and Cooties.
SPEAKER_00This movie by far. I would say it has to be ranked down there like oh, I don't know. What would this be? What would this be? Uh this is probably gonna go down for me as the best vampire movie.
SPEAKER_02That's what I fucking thought, brother. Dude, it brought back the old vampire tropes where you gotta invite them in. Did you catch that on your first watch?
SPEAKER_03I did, absolutely. I mean, they make a big deal of it.
SPEAKER_00Here's here's what what blew me away about this movie. I will tell you from the start, the way they were going and how long of a setup it was. I'm sitting here thinking, oh my god, they're like redoing fucking from dusk till dawn. And they absolutely did not. They really made this their own movie, turned it into something that felt absolutely unique. It was it was a little too funny to be scary. I didn't find myself jumping at all, but but it was it was they held the vampire tropes perfectly, they did not break any rules that I was able to find. Granted, this was the first time I watched it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, there was some there's some horror elements throughout Sprinkled, but it wasn't really like a horror, horror movie. Like when she gets up off of him after fucking biting his neck out, and she's covered in blood like that, and her eyes are glowing with a little twinkle. Right. That's that's fucking freaky. Yeah, but it's all practical, by the way. Those are contacts, and they had a little mirror inside of them and they would shine light at him.
SPEAKER_00But they they killed it with the uh comedy immediately after. It's not what it looks like. That was that was great.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I I guess so. I I didn't really have a prop. So okay, how do you want to do this, TJ? Do you have a specific way you want to run this episode? Or do you want to do that? I just want to talk about one of my favorite movies.
SPEAKER_02You can ask me questions. I got I know a shitload about this movie.
SPEAKER_03Maybe unpopular opinion. I was talking to some co-workers, and I think we all agree. I think it was overhyped, but I think the cinematography was amazing. It was a it's a really well-written film. Um, and and I do think it's like it's a film, it's very, it's very good. Um I do think it was a little overhyped. I think it was a little silly in some parts, and then there's some things I that I feel like might be inconsistencies, but I I very well could have just missed something. Like so the first thing is the vampires at the end. Um Stack and I don't I don't know who the girl was.
SPEAKER_00I forget her name. She was Beatrice, was that right?
SPEAKER_03I I don't I don't remember, but you you know who I'm talking about.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Why didn't they kill him? And let me preface this by saying the the reason I'm confused is because in the in most of the movie the vampires are like blood bloodthirsty going after everybody, like there's no discrimination, it doesn't really seem like they're thinking. Are they under mind control?
SPEAKER_02Is that they so it's hive minded.
SPEAKER_03But and why but why was he able to make a promise with um with smoke while the the lead vampire was still alive, but he makes that promise not to go after him and not to go so uh basically go after Preacher Boy?
SPEAKER_02You know, so Baldurskate, Astarian, right? Yeah, in order to become full vampire, he has to kill his like creator type beat. Yeah, yeah, so it's kind of like that. Uh the you so you seen the scene when they're all fucking doing the Irish jig and shit. That's because of him. Yeah, so it's it's like hive mind shit, but they're not under mind control. They kind of just like experience everybody's thoughts at once, they're all connected, right?
SPEAKER_00So he's he's not controlling them. The the Cajun woman answered that. She said there were two types. The type that they were won't die when the lead is killed.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00They they are on their own completely, and you have to hunt them down individually. They are an entity. Yes, and they can make their own mind up.
SPEAKER_03I get that, absolutely. But when Smoke beat Stack, uh in the what was it, a barn or something? Yeah. Um, when Smoke beat Stack, and this is when they must have made the deal that he wouldn't go after Preacher Boy, right, um the the lead vampire wasn't dead yet.
SPEAKER_00But he was already a different type of vampire. That's what the Cajun woman was.
SPEAKER_02It doesn't matter even if he was alive or whatever. Like he he knew like the deal was being like made. Like he he knew that prompt because they're all thinking together as one.
SPEAKER_03He knows he trying to kill his brother.
SPEAKER_00So why was he why was uh no? He was trying to turn his brother.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. He was telling him that he like they didn't kill anybody, they didn't like suck anybody completely dry in this movie, right? They just turned them.
SPEAKER_00They turned them.
SPEAKER_03Well, okay, no, what it's in the kill is that you die when you become a vampire.
Overhyped Or Masterful Filmmaking
SPEAKER_02It's in a it's in a I think okay, so the reason why Ramick, main vampire, was going after Preacher Boy is because of in the beginning of the movie, it says that you know, great artists or whatever can like open the veil or whatever and play across the veil or whatever. And Ramick is an Irish man, he got ostracized by his people, I'm pretty sure, and he's literally unable to go home. So the reason he wants Preacher Boy to become a vampire is so that he can gain his ability to play and sing because they're like hive mind, right? So he just wants a little bit of like home, you know? That's the whole reason, and that's why they were turning everybody just to get to him.
SPEAKER_03I I get that, yeah, I understand that. My point is more of a semantic. It's that it seems that Smoke made it well, Smoke made this deal with Stack that Stack wouldn't go after Preacher Boy since Smoke won. They kind of allude that uh that Smoke killed Stack, but then later on, obviously Stack shows up, so you know that he really didn't. So there's just it feels like there's some inconsistency because the when the the lead vampire, uh what was the name again?
SPEAKER_00Ramic. Ramick.
SPEAKER_03Ramic. When rameck got hit over the head with uh presumably silver guitar, silver, yeah. Um, and it was burning into his skull, all of them were feeling that pain. Then he got stabbed in the in the heart with a stake, all of them felt that pain. Now, I wonder was Stack also feeling that pain?
SPEAKER_00It didn't show it.
SPEAKER_03They didn't show. And then when they all died of of the sun, um, that makes sense because obviously they all died. It would be it would have been interesting to see if any of the vampires were inside if the same thing would have happened to them, if they would have died by proxy, or if they just would have felt all the pain, and then once they were dead, that they would still be alive.
SPEAKER_00In the lore, what I guess stack in the lore they all would have died, except for the one who see he basically Ramak unintentionally created a new strain of vampire, and it happens that's that's what they were explaining in the in the lore, and maybe it has to do with a certain type of of strong personality. So, in essence, it could be um I'm gonna try to say this. This might be a bad analogy, but it it it would be like uh an alpha creating another alpha, and that one can think for himself, and everybody he turns will then be but following.
SPEAKER_02I think no, what's her name? White bitch, Hayley Steinfeld. What's her character's name? Uh a quarter of a quarter black lady, Mary, Mary, Mary, yeah, Annie's uh smokes girl. Um so he turned Mary first, right? And then she bit uh stack. So what if that has something to do with like you know, that type of mindset where Alpha, you know, Alpha and then strong personalities, they're in love, shit like that.
SPEAKER_03I get the strong personalities thing.
SPEAKER_00It just seems like Do not think that Stack was trying to kill Smoke for the reason like I want to kill you, I'm I'm following this guy, but rather he was trying to turn him because he wanted his brother with him.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so I think he I guess so he somewhat just retained his some sort of humanity within him.
SPEAKER_00I I wouldn't even call it well, I guess I guess you're right, because at the end he he hugged Preacher Boy and left him.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, and so did so did the girl.
SPEAKER_00So did Mary. She said, see uh, what did she say? Uh did she call him Smalls? What does she call him?
SPEAKER_03She called him like uh Sammy, Sammy Boy or Sammy Boy?
Hive Mind Rules And The Promise
SPEAKER_00Little Sammy because she didn't call him Preacher Boy, yeah, little Sammy. Yeah, and that was that was indicative that they have their own thought, they're able to to come up with their own their own way of thinking, their own way of shall I say, performing. They're not obligated when they're like that that type of vampire.
SPEAKER_03It's weird, like so I g I guess you would have to argue that the the vampirism what's that called? Um there's like a name for it. Oh well called vampirism.
SPEAKER_02Vampirism is I think that's it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that when you so w we would have to argue that vampirism skews your mindset into thinking that that is the best way. Because I you would think that if somebody got infected and and still had control of their thoughts, they would be like, Oh, well, I'm gonna stay away from from the people I love if I can't contain myself. I don't wanna kill them, I don't want to do that to them.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03But if he had this idea, uh but I guess you could argue that after living for so long um and not aging, uh when Preacher Boy asked him, like, I guess, like, how are you doing or something? And uh Stack was basically saying, like, you know, it was uh, oh, I I loved that day. Last time I seen the sun, I got to feel a sunset, like, last time I was with my brother. Yeah. So I guess maybe he grew, you know.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so you could still follow the lore if you were to go back in time and watch a movie called uh Interview with a Vampire. They held all of these tropes in that one as well. That was um allegedly based off of the the Bram Stoker Dracula, the vampires. A lot of the rules existed. They talked about uh you can never feed off of the dead, all of the the stereotypical silver garlic. The one thing that has always been more of the Bram Stoker is the the cross, the crucifix. Uh, but even then, Dracula was he was never susceptible to the crucifix. And then if you follow things like Van Helsing, Dracula would grab the crucifix and catch it on fire and turn it to ash. And it would hurt him, but he was he wasn't afraid of it, right? But all of the others, all of his lowerlings were afraid of it. And the the lore has always existed that if you wanted to rid the world of vampires, you would have to kill Dracula, Dracula. He is the ultimate being, right? He was the one who was made into um he made a deal with the devil, and the story is so wicked that he was when he was sent to to hell after his death, that was Vlad the Impaler. Uh, when he was sent to hell after his death, he was so evil that Satan made a deal with him that he would bring him back, he would set him free, give him wings, but he could never be in the daylight, and he would have to bring as many souls with him as he could. So the lore in this movie is it's impeccable, uh, even to the point where uh Stack is capable of choosing who to turn and who not. Now, you're probably right. The fact that he withheld, he stayed away from Preacher Boy his whole entire life, that Preacher Boy had no idea the guy was still alive. That at the end, when he came up, he's like, How? Right? And then he explained that Smoke almost killed him and that made he made a deal. You know, I guess I'm the one that he couldn't kill, which also I believe it kind of alluded to the fact that Smoke was still hunting them. Is that it? Did you get that idea?
SPEAKER_03I got the impression that Smoke died.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, Smoke died.
SPEAKER_03Did you once he was hallucinating, holding a baby he didn't have?
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's right. That's right.
SPEAKER_02He died, yeah. He died. Another just a little scene was a big thing. The thing before that notice. Yes. I so first of all, I want a prequel for the Smokestack twins. I would like to I don't even need fucking vampires in it. I just there would they were working with Al Capone and shit. They were at war, you know.
SPEAKER_00Well, here's the funny thing it could totally be a prequel with vampires because Preacher Boy's dad knew something.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. Also, that motherfucker was dark. He was yeah, dude. I have my shit on full. Against the white background, that was crazy.
unknownIt's crazy.
SPEAKER_00I liked it, but um but I was gonna say but all of the rules, they followed all of the rules, they implemented all of the rules, the the carnal and viciousness of these things was impressive. It was I I really do like that. I really loved and hated how they were so sickeningly sweet at the door when Ramak and his I was gonna bring that up uh earlier when we were talking about like the humanity within them and like how they change or whatever.
SPEAKER_02And you can definitely see like a difference in their demeanor and like how they talk and shit. Cornbread at the door, we just gotta be kind to one another, you know. Like he was not talking like that beforehand, and like which that's clearly right away ramix like whiteness. Um I just gotta say it, it was his whiteness coming through.
SPEAKER_03Oh, so I wait, wait, wait.
New Strain Theory And Agency
SPEAKER_00When you say right away, you mean when he came to the door of the family and he was pounding on the door saying that some Indians, so uh what did he call them? Chippewa? Was it Chippewa or Chalky? Choctaw Choctaw.
SPEAKER_02I think it was Choctaw.
SPEAKER_00That they were after him, and he was like, There ain't been no what are we talking about? What? There ain't been no Indians here when the when Ramack first came to the house and the Indians did come looking for him, they're like, he's not what you think he is.
SPEAKER_03Oh no, I didn't know that right away. No. Whoa, well, okay. When when they said um uh he's not what you think he is, and if he is in there, we need to do we need to act right away. I did have this thought, because I know what the movie's about about vampires. I knew that already going into it. So I was like, oh, maybe that's a vampire.
SPEAKER_00I'll tell you what, I thought it was the Indian. Motherfucker was the Indian.
SPEAKER_03I didn't trust the Indian.
SPEAKER_02You didn't see the burns.
SPEAKER_03I didn't. He was toast. I did, and I thought it was weird, but I didn't think he wasn't fully burning because the sun wasn't all the way.
SPEAKER_02It was like almost down, and that's why he was still alive.
SPEAKER_03Oh man.
SPEAKER_00Wow, no, I missed that. Yeah, I know. He was running from him.
SPEAKER_02He just clicked you fucking.
SPEAKER_00Good catch. That means that they had him locked up somewhere.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um see, because they could have just undid him right there in the sunlight, but they were keeping him alive for several years.
SPEAKER_03So would you call a vampire a demon? Or is it it's just like a ghoul, like a separate?
SPEAKER_00It's it's it's a uh it's a a humanoid, it wouldn't be a demon. Demons are not humans.
SPEAKER_02And I think it's in like lore that they just they don't have their soul, they just instantly go to hell.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like they're doomed, they're their soul has been departed, right?
SPEAKER_02Aren't I dunno. Y'all are the the Jesus y folks in here. Do demons have souls? Are they souls?
SPEAKER_03So angels don't have souls either.
SPEAKER_00So I'll tell you, I'll tell you, no, they're they're spirits, yeah. They're a spirit, so they're made up of what you would call spiritual matter. But here's the interesting thought it's not whether a demon is or isn't, but what is a demon, right? What is an angel? Because the word angel only in its original wording just means messenger. That's it. It's not, you know, what is this thing that we've created? We call them angels in the Bible. They call them seraphims and uh Be not afraid.
SPEAKER_03The other one seraphim and uh cherubim, cherubim and seraphim, and then there's a couple more literally that is literally my favorite thing in the Bible is it it describes the most horrifying, terrifying creature you've ever seen in your life just appearing in in front of these people and then going, Be not afraid, what do you mean?
SPEAKER_00There you go. So what um what I would posit is not demons, right? Because I do believe in demonic possession, if you will, but we use that term even, even I use that uh loosely and probably incorrectly, because what we're actually talking about is most likely the watchers, which were angelic beings, came down and mated with the women of Earth, they call them the daughters of Eve. They had offspring. The offspring were uh called Nephilim, and they were apparently so giant and uh carnivorous that they were eating the flesh of men. And that was if you've ever read like the uh epic of Gilgamesh, there's there's multiple uh cultures across the world that were never in communication with each other that all say the same the same story, if you will. And it's a fascinating tale, but now God sends the flood, kills all of these Nephilim, but they're part human, which is a soul. So I feel like so they would be spirits walking the earth. So the question that I would posit is what if those are what we always think? Like I think of those, those departed spirits, skinwalkers, mimics, we call them Bigfoot, uh, all of these cryptids, um, black-eyed children, all of all of these stories that we have could very easily be answered by these departed spirits.
Stack, Smoke, And Protecting Preacher Boy
SPEAKER_02Also, I'd like to say that like if the vampires immediately lose their soul, wouldn't they just be like husks? You know? I feel essentially they are. We're trying to like figure out what a vampire is. I feel like they're just a husk.
SPEAKER_03Well, that's where I'm kind of confused with like he says it's a corrupted soul. Why yeah, I see that would make more sense to me because to say that it's a husk would would kind of at least you would have to say sinners doesn't follow that. Because if it's just a husk, then it would be mindless and it wouldn't care, and it wouldn't make a deal with its brother to not go after a certain person if it was just a husk. So at least in sinners that can't be the case.
SPEAKER_00That's where I think that's where I think all of them. WIS vampire.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they're they're a husk. I think all of them the reason they're drinking blood is to try to gain back a soul.
SPEAKER_00Well, that's interesting. That's a very interesting point because even biblically it says uh in I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna paraphrase it, but the life of the flesh is in the blood, and the the life of flesh is the soul. Once the soul is departed, we've already examined the zombies. A zombie is a human without a soul, it's it's a lifeless husk.
SPEAKER_03So, but what about certain zombie movies that have stated that you're still there? You're trapped, like the cure, right? Like you're trapped inside.
SPEAKER_00See, honestly, that's why I have so consistently been against that that thought. It is such a horrible thought.
SPEAKER_03That your soul is corrupted, but you're trapped inside.
SPEAKER_00I do think that's a great point for vampires. If Maddie just said that, I'm I'm actually on Maddie's side. It's a corrupted soul.
SPEAKER_03That's why I said I agree with that.
SPEAKER_00I think that makes a lot of sense because that would be it's always trying to win its, if you will, if you'll allow me, TJ, on this. Uh it's trying to win its salvation back, but it's impossible. You never can. And that would be very that's a a very good point that you made, that it's constantly drinking the blood trying to regain that that salvation that that an uncorrupted soul would have. That you just blew my freaking mind right now.
SPEAKER_03That yeah, I think I agree with that.
SPEAKER_00I really like this movie.
SPEAKER_03It's a it's a fucking great movie.
SPEAKER_02Did you notice the fact that um but I'm gonna disagree with Eric and his co-workers?
SPEAKER_00I honestly cannot say that this movie was overhyped. I think it was way underdone from my perspective, just my perspective.
SPEAKER_02Not to bring race in or anything, but every time there's like a black movie, you know, we get excited. Uh, everybody's like, oh, it's overhyped, like fucking Black Panther or fucking nope, get out.
SPEAKER_00See, I you know I didn't think I cannot say that. I cannot say I this is just my subjective opinion. I didn't know a single person. This isn't saying much because I don't know a lot, but I didn't know a single person who ever thought anything negative about Black Panther. And in all honesty, that's what I was. I thought that was my that was my favorite movie, and I'm gonna I'm gonna be blunt about this. This this is gonna hurt some people's feelings. Very unpopular opinion. I cannot stand when Disney makes like they take a role that was a Nordic, white, red-haired girl and turns it into a black character that doesn't make sense to me. Gingers have have gingers keep playing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't know why that's a thing. It's also a thing that black superheroes have electric powers, but then you have things like like Black Panther.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's a role that was specifically created for the he was always an African. That made perfect sense. Then you have um one of my favorites, it's Halloween time, one of my favorite movies. I watched this because it puts me to sleep so quickly. I love it so much. It's a comfort movie. Is uh The Haunted Mansion, the new one. Uh again, made perfect sense to create a role for a black character, and I can't stand that they take these roles that don't exist, that don't make anything, and they do the same thing to Mexicans or Latinos in general.
Classic Lore: Dracula To Interview With The Vampire
SPEAKER_02Did you know you have your own through though? It's the white tiger in Marvel. Not even joking. He gets his power from a fucking amulet that's has like a fucking Aztec god in it or something. I ain't white. Yeah, no, the white tiger, he's Mexican. Oh, is he really? Yeah, don't make sense. They couldn't say the fucking brown tiger.
SPEAKER_00I mean, that would have been cool. I'm the brown tiger, Holmes. There are there there are characters that are. There are characters that I've read, and uh one of the things about the the characters that just drives me nuts is there are so many historic Latinos and Latinas that are are freaking heroic. And you can make your own damn story about them that this would be a riveting tale that would r educate people on the Hispanic community that most of us didn't learn about these people.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's why we need more directors like Ryan Kugler and we need the Hollywood business to allow such movies to happen. Because Ryan Kugler is also the man who made Black Panther and uh a bunch of other great movies. We need original characters for you know, I I agree.
SPEAKER_03That's also what I think with like uh with female characters where they they just love to make a female version of every superhero, and you're like, just make a new one. Listen, I love I love Black Widow, that's a unique character. Yeah, uh, I love Gene Gray, that's a unique character.
SPEAKER_00Uh the Scarlet Witch?
SPEAKER_03Scar I Scarlet Witch is literally my I only downloaded Marvel Rivals to be a Scarlet Witch main, and I am. And it I didn't even know what her abilities were. I was just like I'm gonna play Scarlet Witch.
SPEAKER_02If you're a comic book nerd and you got angry that the Silver Surfer in the new one was a woman, she's literally in the comics. That's the wife of the Silver Surfer. Just wanted to point that out.
SPEAKER_00I don't know enough about the comics. I I I did get mad because the OG Captain Marvel, like they didn't even introduce Captain Marvel until it was a a woman which was decades into the comic. So I was like, okay, well, thanks for that.
SPEAKER_03So so when does Batman fight Thanos? No, they got when's the crossover happen?
SPEAKER_02You got like lasers that can move up and down and shit. Kind of stupid. Back to centers.
SPEAKER_03Batman with prep time versus Thanos. Thoughts? Uh no.
SPEAKER_00Batman with prep time? What prep is he doing to battle Thanos?
SPEAKER_03Well, that's the thing with Batman. Well, the thing is he has win anything with prep time.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no. Because he beats Superman? Yeah. Okay, no, that's the real question.
SPEAKER_02Superman versus Thanos? He got training from monks. That's all he needs. Batman? Yeah, dude, that so ain't technique. Doctor Strange got trained by a white lady, a bald white lady, and he's made Yeah, but Batman doesn't need a gay ring to give him his power.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. He has capitalism on his teeth.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but what about Superman? There's a comic where he's fighting the establishment as the press, but he's one of my favorite Batman comics is where um he literally creates a robot called Failsafe, or if he ever kills somebody, like if Batman ever kills like anybody, he created a robot to stop. Stop him, right? And this robot proceeds to beat literally everybody's ass in the Justice League, and Batman is fighting it the entire fucking comic. Literally, he gets flown into space, falls down to Earth, somehow survives. Regular ass man, by the way. Batman's just OP for no fucking reason.
unknownThat's true.
SPEAKER_03That's kind of like okay, that kind of reminds me of Squirrel Girl's whole thing. We're really off of Sinners right now, but Squirrel Girl, her whole shtick is she always wins. Yeah. That's her shtick.
SPEAKER_00She beat Thanos Squirrel Girl.
SPEAKER_03She's a Marvel character. Apparently she beat Thanos by herself. Because she just always wins. That's what she's doing. She's a baddie.
unknownWhat?
SPEAKER_00So back to Sinners. Did you notice that?
Souls, Demons, And Corrupted Salvation
SPEAKER_02So Stanis versus Rakim. Yeah, Stack always rolls smoke his cigarettes because smoke has tremors from the war. And that's why at the end of the day, he's trying to roll the cigarette and he's shaking. He can't roll.
SPEAKER_00Okay. I thought that was I thought that was the uh the fear of of what had happened.
SPEAKER_02No, he I had no idea. He's a cold-blooded killer. It's just like tremors from the war.
SPEAKER_00See, that was the other reason why I thought that it went the way it went. Um the twins knew that they were both damned already. That that was their joke. Right? Go to hell. I'll save you a seat or I'll I'll save you a room.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the stole money from Al Capone.
SPEAKER_00So they both knew that this was what this was their end result. We're going to hell. So it wasn't like they were afraid of being damned.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_00So when the brother was like, hey, we're gonna live forever like this, and Stack went after Smoke for that, it was like, nah, I'm gonna turn you. We're gonna be we're gonna be together like this forever. Smoke put up a fight. Nah, I ain't going out like this. I'm not even gonna be there.
SPEAKER_02They're the same age because they're twins, maybe like minutes apart or whatever. Yep. Um smoke has always been the older brother. And uh, I don't know if you caught it, yeah, but when he asked Preacher Boy if his dad beats him, he was asking him that because when Smoke and Stacks dad was beating on them, Smoke killed him. So that's also a detail.
SPEAKER_00There's a lot of death in that.
SPEAKER_02And that the guitar that he got, um, that's right. That's from his father.
SPEAKER_00Sell that guitar. No, that's a lie. That's our daddies.
SPEAKER_02But that's why he really he couldn't kill his little brother.
SPEAKER_00Wow. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02He's been protected this whole time.
SPEAKER_03I knew this the second one of them got bit. I I already knew it. I was like, fuck, this is that's obviously gonna be something. Uh, because for a half second, I'm like, damn, they're gonna kill off one of the qu one of the twins, and I was like, there's no way. So they didn't do all that work just to play by one guy.
SPEAKER_00That's interesting.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it that's it's like uh when Will Smith played that what what was it, Gemini? It's pretty cool that they can double, but I guess you know, Disney Channel.
SPEAKER_02No, but like they they made some like act like they they made up some like stuff in order to be able to do like because he's not doing it how like Parent Track did it, where they film him two different times. There's a body double and then they're digitally editing his head on it, but then he also films as like he filmed both parts, but it's you know, so he can like hand him a cigarette and shit. It's pretty cool, you know, stuff. That's sick.
SPEAKER_00So nerdy vet actually uh said in the in the chat, one backstabbed the Italians and the other backstabbed. Now I did catch this. He backstabbed somebody. I didn't know if it was the Hispanics or the Asians, I don't know who he backstabbed, but clearly that was made relevant when the woman figured it out and was like, You're pitting them against each other. They're gonna think each other did it, which made perfect sense, which is why they they blew town. And then wasn't that uh was that Staxwoman? No, um, that was Smoke S Smokeswoman.
SPEAKER_03Annie?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Annie who said uh is Chicago done with you? Was that right? Am I saying that right? Was that who said that?
SPEAKER_03I don't remember.
SPEAKER_00He said, We're done, we're done with Chicago. Yeah, but is Chicago done with you?
SPEAKER_03Gotcha. Like, do you still owe Chicago coming to look for?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, they stole from Capone.
SPEAKER_03So that is Yeah, because uh uh the question was like, Oh, you guys made it to Chicago, you guys were there, you guys talk so highly of it. Why are you back?
SPEAKER_00They they know yeah, uh what was it? They know Jim Crow in Chicago, yeah, yeah, it's no different, it's just taller buildings.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Capone got caught by the fucking IRS. Ain't that a bitch?
Character Details: War Tremors, Mojo Bag, Colors
SPEAKER_00So that was a very interesting point of this was their interaction with the world and each other. Of course, we didn't know anything about their interaction with the world. That would be that would be an interesting story to tell. But now one of the other uh how would I how would I point it out? So in their dealings, the the brothers being uh what they are, Preacher Boy was already making his uh exit, if you will. He already said that he was gonna go away, right? He was done. That was his first and last night doing this. But now, at what point did uh did the brothers already know what was going down with the uh the clan, if you will? Yeah. So before they did before the the vampires came and told him what was happening. So basically the vampires told everybody else what the plan was that though that the man who sold them the place was gonna come back and kill them.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and they already knew they say they said don't come back here with any of your clan buddies, or well fucked you out.
SPEAKER_00That ending was dark for that very reason.
SPEAKER_02This was badass though.
SPEAKER_00That he came out, and and see that was the other thing. I don't think he was gonna he didn't want to go out as a vampire, he didn't want to live forever.
SPEAKER_03No, but his his woman died, and no, he went out killing racists, but he was gonna go, he knew he was gonna go back to the room. Here's my here's my thought. I think that was a pretty great American moment right there. Yeah, you shouldn't be on my property, you're on my property threatening me.
SPEAKER_00There's consequences I have a lot of money.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he was like he just interrupted me, bro. And the fuck the screaming while he's doing it, too. Help me out here. Satisfying.
SPEAKER_00So nerdy says uh help me out, TJ. Nerdy says the twins' clothes have meaning too. Do you do you know what he means by that? I am not familiar with I okay. The blue means ties to the spiritual being a vampire, red means blood being unalived.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah. No, I know there's meaning, and they they do dress very like differently. Um, I don't got that off the top of my head though. I'm not that much of a nerd.
SPEAKER_00Um that's what nerdy says. The blue means ties to the spiritual being a vampire, red means blood being unalived. So they were wearing telling us the whole way through.
SPEAKER_02Did Smoke die after he took off his mojo bag? He took it off, right? He had a bag hanging around his neck that his wife made him. It's a mojo bag, is to keep him safe. I'm pretty sure he took it off, and then that's when he died, and that's why he died.
SPEAKER_00See, I didn't see I didn't see him wearing anything when he went out in Blaze of Glory.
SPEAKER_03He was just in a tank top.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that tank top on, that was all I saw him in. He wasn't carrying anything on his own.
SPEAKER_03What he did before he he took the baby was he put out the cigarette.
SPEAKER_00That was you put that out and I'll let you hold her. I don't want her smelling of that. And then that fucking guy, he see, you didn't know he probably would have just laid there and died if that man wouldn't have said, I have a lot of money. He took him out of his delusion with his baby.
SPEAKER_03Well, that's what I mean. He was like, Oh, you interrupted. Well, take the rest of this clip. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that was wild.
SPEAKER_03But yeah, they never show him die, but they they heavily insinuate.
SPEAKER_00And I will I will also show you the other thing I he took it off and then he died. The other thing that I loved was a nice detail. The other thing that I loved about it was the uh the fact that all of those vampires, I mean, well, okay, let me say this was a love-hate relationship that I had. I just got so angry at that lady who just screamed out and welcomed the water.
SPEAKER_02But then they were gonna go to town and f fucking kill her daughter, so but were they? Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Cause I think it was just a bluff. I think it was it did exactly what he was hoping it would do. Yeah, it would make her freak out and let them in.
SPEAKER_02I feel like it was a half bluff. Like, I don't doubt it that he would go into town and get more and then come back.
SPEAKER_00I mean, they they would have done it, and then how vicious would that have been to make her daughter come back and have her see her like that?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I mean, she already got her fucking husband taken, so yeah, but they were all right there.
SPEAKER_03So I don't know, I didn't get the impression that he was.
Race, Representation, And Original Characters
SPEAKER_02They literally would have been fine if they just didn't invite them in the back.
