Allen Largin's Instagram bio reads "a little kid doing big kid things" and it couldn't be more fitting. After launching a career in footwear design after winning a national Nike design competition in high school, Allen wanted to see just how far his passion for design could take him. It took him around the country to places like Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour before he had the unique opportunity to return home to Detroit, MI, and work under local billionaire, Dan Gilbert.

In this episode, Allen and I talk about the first time he was told his creative work simply wasn't good enough, we explore some important mindsets for creators like whose opinions matter and remembering why we create, and we talk about the many things happening in the city of Detroit and the role Allen gets to play in bringing new people, opportunities, and impact to the city.
