DON’T STOP TALKIN’ ABOUT IT!
Well hello. Hola, Aloha, Kanichiwa, Chavela, Sawadika, Yo, what's up? It's your girl, your friend, your sis, your chica, and your amiga, your homegirl in the gospel, lyric, the lyrical miracle McCree. Hi everybody. Thank you for stopping by my podcast. I appreciate you so much. I am here with another quick one. Uh, well, that's the intention. I just want to encourage you today. So let's talk about it. I've been thinking about and doing some reading, and a couple of times this theme has come up with me, where I am questioning where I am in my life and how far I think I should be along at my small age. I always say, Lord, I feel like I should be further along, um, farther along rather than what I am. Um I feel like I should be doing this or I should have done that. And who told me that? What made me think that where I am right now is not where I'm supposed to be? Because the word says a good man's steps are ordered by the Lord. So if he orders our steps, how do we know that we're not where we're supposed to be? How can we say we're not where we're supposed to be? Because if he's doing the ordering, are we not? So um I had this conversation again day before yesterday, and I just felt myself feeling so not defeated, but just feeling like I'm not measuring up, I'm not living up to my potential. I'm not okay. I'll say it. I'm not enough. Have you ever felt like that? Like you're not enough, you haven't done enough, what you're doing isn't is not enough, or some some semblance of that. So some semblance of that. And that's what the enemy wants. He wants you to feel like you never measure up, you're never gonna be enough. Everything you do, that's not even enough. To have you chasing after something, spinning your wheels, feeling you know, insecure. That's what he wants. So I remember the person that I was speaking with. She's an older woman and she's wise in the Lord, and I thank God for her. The woman is 73 years old, she looks like she's 45, she moves like she's 35, um, and she's actually my personal trainer. Can you believe that? My personal trainer for fitness is 73 years old. This lady is incredible, and she's a believer, and I thank God for her. But when I was mentioning to her those aforementioned things that I just said, you know, about not being enough or not feeling like I've done enough or um feeling like I've uh or not achieved, but try to achieve so much, and yet here I sit. And she had to let me know that, you know, your life and times are in the Lord's hands, and you can pursue all those things. There's nothing wrong with wanting to be better, with wanting to be successful. She said, but you know, but the Lord's idea of success is not the world's idea of success. The world's idea of success is you're married, you got 2.5 children with a house and a white picket fence, a nice vehicle or nice vehicles, um, uh so much money in the bank. That's their idea of success, but they don't have the Lord. So are they really successful? Because you can have all those things and not have a savior. And guess what? When you stop breathing, you'll see that you're not as successful as you thought you were, because now you have to spend eternity separated from the one who created you. So, what I'm learning and have learned that being a child of God and having a relationship with Jesus Christ, that is real success. That is being successful, and it's not a cop-out uh to make up for shortcomings, it is the truth. Because all that we have, all that we need, all that we desire is in Christ. And everything that we do, we do it unto the Lord. That is what is successful. But in this fast-paced world, you know, it feels like everything is all about results, and not just results, immediate results. I've heard someone say we're like we're such a microwave generation of people. Um, we just want everything right now, so fast, so quick. Hurry it up, you know. Like, life ain't Amazon. You ain't getting everything in two days. The Lord is not overnight and everything. You know what I'm saying? Like, it's just not happening. Yeah, it's not Amazon. So we want these immediate results, you know, everything is about metrics, milestones, you know, milking every moment for more. And we celebrate speed and shortcuts that sound almost too good to be true, like overnight success stories that and instant results. We see it on Instagram, we see it on Facebook, or or wherever we see it. But what the Lord values is faithfulness, and I'll I'll give you an example of what I'm talking about. So if we look at this beautiful picture from 1 Samuel 17 about how David stewarded the call on his life with such faithfulness and humility, I mean, he was a shepherd boy. At this point, he had just been anointed king by the prophet Samuel. Let that sink in. David was tending to sheep, and he was anointed king by the prophet Samuel. Not to mention, out of all the people, all the um the brothers that the prophet saw, David was the one that was chosen. But imagine being a child and having siblings, and this great man comes and and wants to do this big thing because the Lord has called him to do it, and anoint a king, and your parent does not even call you out. Calls all your siblings except you. Just let you stay out there attending to the sheep because apparently you're not good enough. That's how it would come across to me. Like, you you called all of my siblings, and you did not even call my name. You literally left me out there. So Samuel's like, do you have another child? Like, I'm sure he knew. And so he calls David. And so when he calls David out, the prophet Samuel anoints him as king. Like, this is who the Lord is looking for right here. Not the strongest, not the smartest, not the, you know, the Lord, he wanted David, the humble shepherd boy. So after Samuel anointed David to be king, he didn't demand the crown, he didn't take matters into his own hands, he simply went back to tending sheep. He literally has just been anointed king, and he went back to the mundane, or what we would consider mundane, the the humble son or even the humiliating of tending to sheep. Imagine that. The future king of Israel tending to lowly sheep. So one day his father, Jesse, asked him to bring food and supplies to his brothers on the battlefield. He wasn't even sent there to be part of the battle. So he's excluded again. But you can bring the supplies, like this constant not seeing David for who he really is. But David, he just he did what his father asked of him. So even though he wasn't sent there to be part of the battle, but just a simple delivery boy, he obeyed. He didn't say, Why me? Why can't they bring their own supplies? Or don't you know who I am? No, he honored his father's word. So let's take a deeper look into the details here. So the Bible says that so David rose early in the morning, left the sheep with a keeper, and took the things and went as Jesse had commanded him. His obedience to his father's instruction to me is commendable because after being anointed king, he still humbled himself. And even more than that, look at his heart. It's revealed in his actions. He didn't just have, he didn't just leave the sheep unattended and rush off to the battlefield to deliver the supplies. He took the time to leave the sheep with a sheep with the keeper. And that may seem like a small detail, but I don't think it is. I believe it's something that's worth leaning into because it shows how David handled the seemingly menial responsibility that his father gave to him. He made sure the sheep were cared for before he went to take on another task. He was diligent and honorable and faithful in everything that he did, down to tending to the sheep. Even when nobody was watching him. David was faithful. And that simple, faithful obedience, I believe it brought him face to face with his destiny that day. The door didn't swing open through his striving or trying to make things happen or ooh, let me put myself in front of this man. He looks like he's coming to offer something great. Let me let me show him I can do it too. He didn't. He stayed in his place, he stayed in his his what he was assigned to do, which was tend to the sheep. He didn't try to make it happen, he didn't, he didn't say anything. He just stayed faithful in the ordinary. And that is so hard for us because some things do just seem so ordinary. Like it's leading to nowhere. But the Lord sees your faithfulness even when no one else does. So maybe today you're showing up day after day at work, you're putting in your best efforts, you're probably outperforming other people, and your boss just does not acknowledge you. Um, you're showing up in your parenting, in your serving, and sometimes you're just wondering, does this even matter? Because I know I have wondered that. Like, does anybody even care? Like, does this even matter? But let me tell you, it does matter because it matters to the Lord. The Lord notices you, He sees your faithfulness, and the Bible says a faithful man will abound with blessings in Proverbs 28:20. Let me read it again. A faithful man will abound with blessings. This means that as you remain faithful even in the unseen and the unimpressive and the unexciting, you are positioning yourself for favor. You're positioning yourself for increase and opportunities that only the Lord can orchestrate for you. Only He can do it. Faithfulness isn't about doing something big, it's about doing what's before you with the heart that says, Lord, I'm doing this unto you, even if it's small. I've seen people at church cleaning the bathroom and they just look so happy. They're in there just cleaning away, singing and cleaning, cleaning and singing. And I believe it's because they're doing it unto the Lord. So even though it seems like it's menial, like you're cleaning up after people, to them, that's not how they see it. That's not how they see it. They probably take it as, you know, I'm doing this for the Lord, I'm tending to his people, I'm tending to his sheep, just like David did. So whether it's stewarding your time well, showing up, staying diligent with the hours you've been given, staying present with your children, not despising the less glamorous, but the essential responsibilities in your day, or simply being there to serve with the good spirit, even when there's no one there to applaud you. That's what matters. There is seed time and there's harvest time. We know that. So what you're faithful to sow in the small, unseen moments, the Lord sees, and He's faithful to reward you. And Psalms 126 reminds us that the one who goes out sowing, maybe even with tears, will surely return with a harvest that is overflowing. So you don't need to chase after blessings. Just stay faithful to the Lord and the blessings will chase after you. Don't worry if things feel slow or unseen. You're not falling behind. I know the world, the world says, Oh, you should have had this by now. You should have at this age, you should have, you should have. They don't know what you should have done. They don't know. The world does not know. The Lord knows. You're right on time. You're right on time with him. So the world may run on in this obsessive urgency for results, but we don't have to. We don't have to. We can just trust the Lord and keep sowing, keep being faithful with what he has entrusted to us. Because our Lord is good, he's good and he's faithful, and he will bring to pass all that he has promised, everything that he's promised, he will do everything. Trust him, believe him, and know that he's got it, and he has it for you. He's not overlooking you, he's not bypassing you, but in that moment, in the at the right moment, at the right time, it's gonna be your turn. All those things that you have desired in your heart.
