DON’T STOP TALKIN’ ABOUT IT!
Well hello Hola Bonjour Kanichiwa Swanika Cha Privy Niha Aniang Hasayo Morhaba Namaste Yasas Wozu It's your girl your friend your sis your chica and your amiga Your homegirl in the gospel the Lyrical Miracle McCree it's lyric Hello everyone I am so happy to be sharing this with you I'm so thankful that you stopped by my little podcast my little little podcast to hear what the Lord has shared with me I'm so grateful I I don't even know where to start but I'm just gonna start because I'm super excited that the Lord has given this to me and I just want to tell you what he told me adjust your expectations and for those of you who have listened you know that I have a an autistic child so if you hear her in the background I apologize but yeah telling her to be quiet is yeah not gonna happen so say hi hi okay that's my baby so it is amazing what the Lord will use in real time to reveal patterns of behaviors thoughts and attitudes it's it's also not unusual for him to use like the most natural circumstances and places to do it um I have been using the bathroom taking a shower brushing my teeth cooking etc and the Lord has spoken and or revealed something to me um and this time I was in the shower again and I started thinking and thanking God that my kiddo did much better when I washed her hair like just a few minutes earlier so I told the Lord that I noticed like she was much calmer but I also noticed that I was much calmer so I knew that it was the Lord my approach was different I was talking her through it I invited her to participate and I just remember the first thing that she said was wow it's amazing thank you mommy first of all that is the most words that she has ever used in a sentence let's just go ahead and acknowledge that my baby is one two words every now and then three but she's she's getting much better and I thank God for that because they said she would be nonverbal but you know it is the Lord who has the final say it I will believe the report of the Lord so it really warmed my heart that my previously terrified daughter had somehow just adjusted like she wasn't she just wasn't acting the way she normally acts now was she fearful yes and I could see that in her eyes um I didn't try to I didn't even try to calm her down I just kept talking her through it and you know saying mommy's gonna come mommy's gonna wash your hair and it's gonna be fine you're gonna be all clean you're gonna be so much cooler because it's so hot and she kept saying so hot and it was so I just was trying to talk her through it and walk her through it but when I when she noticed I didn't pin her hair up because I almost always do and if I don't without fail she will say oh no my hair but she knew something was different and she probably know knows or knew that I was about to wash her hair so I did see the fear in her eyes and then like I heard her kind of gearing up to start crying like that whimpering and I'm like oh brother in my mind but I didn't feel the stress like oh god not again like I have in the past I'm gonna lie I it's it's a lot because she doesn't just cry like she really has meltdown about the shower and her hair she's gotten a lot better with the showers especially since we were um since we came to Panama because our condo only had showers there was no bathtub so she got used to it but that hair thing yeah she just mm-mm so anyway I felt her gearing up and heard her you know getting ready to cry then all of a sudden my level two autistic five year old child started pacing back and forth down the hall saying deep breath deep breath my baby is trying to regulate herself she said like three times and by the third time by the third deep breath I was even calmer I was already calm and I was calmer so I was really pleased I was like look at my baby she is literally calming herself down deep breath I was like she is so smart I love this kid but I mean honestly I I wasn't expecting like her usual meltdown for some reason I was not expecting it when it was time to wash her hair I was like I'm gonna just do what I'm doing like I really I really believe it was the Lord because I was able to just talk her through it and I just really felt calm I didn't really expect anything like I didn't expect the worst I didn't expect the best like I felt like I wasn't really expecting anything I just was kind of going with the flow of everything and I knew that I felt calmer and I could tell that my approach was different and I believed that she would just do better and she did she enjoyed it and um the experience improved tremendously and in all candor um I believe that her energy started to match mine and I'll tell you why because in the past you know when it was time to wash her hair because it's because it was so much it was so eventful that uh there were times where I just dreaded it I won't even lie like I think there were times where I just prolonged even washing her hair because I just I I just didn't want to y'all I didn't I didn't but I feel like I can't expect her to be calm if I'm tense and irritated but I did I hated washing her hair as much as she hated getting it washed and if I can be completely honest about it I was starting to just voice some of this to the Lord and while I was in the shower he revealed to me that it makes no sense for me to expect her to be calm and enjoy the experience if I'm frustrated and I'm not enjoying the experience and the reason the experience was different this time is because I was different what it's because I was different I was calm and I had different expectations and when when I expect better I get better results when I expect the situation to be different it will be and it was like the Lord really let me know that it is not just pertaining to this particular situation it pertains to everything about my life even what I expect of him like he's always going to do his part because he's a good God and a loving father but how much more would I experience if I just expect him to do what he has promised and what I have prayed for. I mean it really hit me that God expects me to adjust my expectations of him I mean I I just was really I wasn't taken aback but I was just really surprised because I guess I didn't really realize how my expectations were affecting almost every facet of my life and how I've been living beneath my God given privilege even though God has been superb to me but I've been living living beneath my God given privilege because I have allowed life and circumstances and disappointments to lower my expectations of him and so if you are in that place and in that space where you are experiencing you know lowered expectations and not really living the life that you've wanted and feel like the Lord is not um doing certain things it's not that he's not doing it it's that we're not expecting him to do it. And so you know the word has already told us that in Jeremiah 2911 for I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord plans to prosper you and not to harm you to give you a future and a hope Proverbs 1028 says the hope of the righteous brings joy but the expectation of the wicked will perish Proverbs 2318 says surely there is a future and your hope will not be cut off 2 Corinthians 9 and 8 and God is able to make all grace abound to you so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times you may abound in every good work. So like there are so many there are so many scriptures that show us and that reveal to us what our expectations of the Lord should be and Hebrews 412 says for the word of God is living and active sharper than any two edged sword piercing to the division of soul and of spirit of joints and of marrow and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart like his word just goes on and on showing us that he can and will do what he says Matthew 24 35 heaven and earth will pass away but my words will not pass away so whatever the Lord has promised us in his word he will do it because his word says he will and either we take him at his word or we don't that's really what it boils down to. So I pray that you believe and that you receive and that you will raise your expectations of the Lord because he also revealed something to me he said something to me and I'll never forget it. I was praying about something and in my mind it just seemed ridiculously big because I forgot how big my God is and while I'm praying and I'm talking to him I was in the kitchen cooking I'm in there cooking and I'm talking to the Lord about something and Lord I really want you to do this and da da da and I'm just breaking it all down and then right before I didn't even say amen. I just stopped myself and I said what am I saying you probably won't even do that and the Lord oh my goodness he arrested me so fast I heard him so clearly it almost scared me he said see that's the problem you think I bless you because you're good I bless you because I'm good I almost dropped the the knife the food and everything I was cooking on the floor because because I heard him clearly I knew it was him and I'll never forget that we think that God blesses us because we're good he blesses us because he's good your sins if you belong to Jesus have been forgiven. So sitting around thinking that somehow you can earn something for him is ridiculous because you can't. You can't but the wonderful thing is that you don't have to it's already paid for now does that mean just go live your life raggedy no because I don't believe that anyone who has experienced the living God wants to live a raggedy life before him. I just don't think that's a true desire of any true Christian. I don't care how many faults and flaws you have deep down you don't want to live that way if you have experienced the Lord you may be struggling with something you you may be in addiction you may be in some relationship that you shouldn't be in but deep down you don't really want to be there even if you are and so just remember that you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus that his righteousness towards us is a gift it is not earned your sins all of them are paid for for I've heard pastors say well you know he died for your sins you know since you you know since you have been here on this earth no he died for sin period all of the sin that I will ever commit and not just in my I won't say my age but not just up to this point in my life no my future sins are paid for because when Jesus died all of my sins were future anyway do you realize that Jesus died before we ever got here so all of our sins are future sins so if he died for all of our sins that means all the sins that we will commit in the future tonight tomorrow the next day he died for them and so we don't have to exclude ourselves from his blessing because he has revealed himself and revealed his word that his blessings come because he's good not because we're good because we are in Christ we can expect the goodness of God we can expect the favor of God and I just do I like I just have a different outlook I really do like I I thought I believed God before but I really believe God now because he told me himself to raise my expectations if me raising my expectations from my own daughter changed that situation that that one small thing shifted because I didn't expect her to have a meltdown and be off the charts and she wasn't what would my life look like if I raised my expectations of the Lord even though he's been fantastic to me like literally but how much more if I hoped and like if I just relentlessly hoped and without restraint believed God what would my life look like I don't know but I'm trying to find out I don't know but I'm trying to find out and I pray you are too and so I will leave you with that thank you so much for stopping by my podcast and listening I pray that you were blessed and uplifted by something that I said take it with you share it with someone and don't forget to talk about it. God bless you
