After a disappointing return with "Part V," Jason officially makes his zombie comeback with "Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives," which is hailed as one of the better sequels in the franchise. What did Vinny think about it?
Hello, welcome to Poppin' Cinema with your mama and friends, the podcast. I pop my friends cinematics one movie at a time. Here I am with Vinny. Vinny, hello. Hello. He's getting to hear that. He's getting ready for another uh adventure with Jason Voorhees for Friday 13th, part six. And uh what is your beverage of choice today?
SPEAKER_03It's a very uh kid-friendly beverage, I'd say.
SPEAKER_02It is absolutely kid-friendly, totally.
SPEAKER_03Bush light lime for my father-in-law.
SPEAKER_02Kids love it.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_02So anyway, as I said, uh we're moving into part six. So we're about almost halfway done now. Yes.
SPEAKER_03So that's crazy that we're halfway through this journey.
SPEAKER_02Right? Yay. So uh part six is called Jason Lives, released in 1986, so 40 years ago. This is kind of crazy to think about. Wait, when when was this one released? 86. 86, okay. Jeez. 40 years. Wow. Crazy. Yeah. I remember seeing this when I was a kid. I'm like, damn.
SPEAKER_03I I know, so you were born when? 80. 80. Okay. Wow. So this had. Did you see this? No, what what did you see first in theaters? Like Godzilla was the first ever.
SPEAKER_02First or movie I saw on theaters?
SPEAKER_03Or no, was it Sister Ed?
SPEAKER_02Uh no, first movie I saw on theaters was Alvin and Chipmunks.
SPEAKER_03Really?
SPEAKER_02Not like the live action one, like it was like a kid movie in like in the 80s. Oh, okay. Then the Transformers movie my mom took me to. And I can't remember other ones, so I never saw the only Fire 13th movie I saw in theaters was the remake in 2009.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I see.
SPEAKER_02But um no, Sister Act was when I saw 1993 with my mom and then my neighbor and their kids. And then that's when I was in high school, I had no friends through all of high school. Yeah. I was a loner, so I didn't go to movies at all till Godzilla in 1998.
SPEAKER_06Oh.
SPEAKER_02So I had five years in between. I didn't go to any movies.
SPEAKER_03Gotcha. Yeah, I was I was wondering, that's why I was asking, I was wondering if you saw any of these in theaters. Yeah. Yeah, but just the remake.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well, then they did uh a couple years ago, they had the 40th anniversary of the first movie in theaters. Oh, yeah. Re-release, so I saw that in theaters. That's pretty cool. It was pretty cool. So yeah, this one's direct uh came in 1986, directed by Tom McLaughlin, stars Tom Matthews, CJ Graham, Jennifer Cook, and David Kagan. So um, once again, Jason, well this time Jason actually comes back, unlike the last movie. So yeah, it wasn't him. Yeah, it wasn't him. So he comes back and uh gets another confrontation with the good old Tommy Jarvis rounding up the Tommy Jarvis trilogy. So now I'm gonna play the trailer, and when it's done, we'll be back to talk about the movie.
SPEAKER_00This is between me and Jason. Jason belongs to Hellman to see he gets there.
SPEAKER_07No one in power screen wants to be reminded of what that mini activity is. That's what we think.
SPEAKER_02And we're back, so we'll be talking about this movie now. So this is your spoiler alert. Let me get off some tidbitting tidbits about this movie first. Director Tom McLaughlin took some uh props home from the film, including Jason's tombstone, which sits outside of his house, made to look like Jason is buried in his yard, and his casket, which sits in his garage. He tells of uh how a city employee refused to enter his yard uh to read the meter because he thought a body was really buried there.
SPEAKER_03It's honestly a really cool prop to bring to your house. Oh yeah. I would I would love that. Because you could like people people don't have to believe you, but you could be like, oh, this is like the actual grave they use in the movie, and they'd be like, No, but I believe them.
SPEAKER_02Right. Uh David Kagan, who plays the sheriff, um, he was Jennifer Cook, who plays Megan, his act uh he was her acting coach before they got the movie together. And so they were uh yeah. Uh years after the release of the film, Kevin Williamson uh told director Tom McLaughlin that this film had a huge influence on him growing up and helped him inspire to write the uh meta slasher Scream.
SPEAKER_03Wait, like this inspired him to write Scream. Yep. Wow, that's kind of cool, actually. Yeah. Like, okay, yeah. Because that's a huge franchise in itself now.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. They revitalized the slasher genre after it ended like in the 90s, early 90s. Wow. So yeah. Uh at 86 minutes long, this is the shortest Friday 13th film. It did fly by. It did. I like that. Uh Nancy McLaughlin, who plays Lisbeth, the girl in the car. Yeah. Is uh the director Tom McLaughlin's wife.
SPEAKER_03Interesting.
SPEAKER_02Fun story about the two. Um, this is also a film debut of Tony Goldwyn, uh, who plays uh Lisbeth's husband Darren. Um if you know like his name, but you know his face. He's been in movies like Ghost, The Pelican Brief, Oppenheimer, One Battle After Another, and then he's the main character in the uh series Scandal with Kerry Washington. He said he said like he's one of those people you ever see the meme of like actors who've all these movies we don't know their names, but we know their face. Yeah. He's like one of the he's actually on that list. Yeah. He's like, yeah, I see that guy before I can't remember his name. But in uh so in this movie, the town of Crystal Lake is renamed Forrest Green to disassociate itself from Jason's previous murders. Uh, this is the only installment where Forrest Green is used, as the town has been named Crystal Lake in both the previous and subsequent movies.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh Jennifer Cook, who plays Megan, retired from acting after appearing in this movie.
SPEAKER_03I mean, honestly, she wasn't she was kind of a better actress as far as Fire the 13th goes, though. So I'm surprised she retired after this because she did pretty good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I mean, or she had a good coach, I guess. Yeah. Um, so talking about the McLaughlin's life, um, wife. Um, when Jason lunches at her with the spear through the car's windshield, uh, CJ Graham kind of uh the director told him to like just go straight to the car, but he was a marine, and so like his c instincts kicked in and kicked in. He saw her as the enemy, so when he put the spear through and like almost went at her. Oh wow. So like nearly missed her. Like real life, like he's like, yep, uh, yeah, my wife almost died from that movie.
SPEAKER_03That's crazy. I mean, so they use an actual spear?
SPEAKER_02Yep. Uh yeah, so the trajec trajectory uh uh leer towards McLaughlin, uh, who nearly avoided impalement.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean what's the actor of who played Jason in this one? C. D. Graham. Okay. Did the director like go off and I'm just like, yeah, let's get my wife.
SPEAKER_02No, he did a joke about it. Oh, okay. I don't know if he did before, but yeah. It's a big joke now. Yeah. Like, yeah, she's my wife. Uh the character Court, he was played by Tom Fredley. Yeah. Did he look familiar to you at all?
SPEAKER_03He really did, but I I don't know what he's played in, but he he looked really, really familiar. That was the dude in the RV.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Right, okay.
SPEAKER_02Well, he doesn't play in any really big moves, but he's the nephew of John Travolta.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Oh, well, honestly, yeah, he kind of does look like John Travolta.
unknownYep.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02So this film made uh over $19 million, which is $59 million today, with a budget of $3 million or $9 million today. And it's actually the first time that the Friday 13th installment did not gross over $20 million, and this began the general decline in the box office returns. It was also the first Friday 13th film that failed to open in number one, uh, came in second after Aliens on its third weekend. And then on a budget of uh the budget made writing. So the kill count is 18 for this one, except not including Jason because he didn't die in this one. So the first one eleven, second one ten, third one thirteen, fourth one fourteen, last uh part five nineteen. So this went down by one.
SPEAKER_03So I wonder why they I wonder if they even intentionally thought to make the code count more and more in each one, or if it just kind of happened.
SPEAKER_02They did.
SPEAKER_03Okay, they did.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we'll talk about that more in here. Okay. So what are your overall thoughts on this movie?
SPEAKER_03Um it honestly was one of my favorites for some reason. I don't I don't know what it was, but it's like the entire time the plot and just the pacing, the moving of the movie, like had me attentive. Like it made me I don't even know how to explain it. I was just happy to watch it. Like some of them, like the third is just hard to get through. You're just like, oh, it's just in the series. Fifth, pretty bad. Fun, but pretty bad. Yeah. This one was really enjoyable, so I wouldn't mind watching it again. Like it's definitely a rewatch, something I'd go to bed too.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's one of the more like well loved of the franchise, so yeah.
SPEAKER_03And and his kills were just so aggressive in it too. And like you saw like well now he's zombie just and like you saw the real strength of him. Yeah. And just like I don't know, I just thought it was a really awesome movie. He had like a tool belt with weapons. I'm like, that's pretty freaking awesome.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02He says a weapon uh went to Lil's Lowe stole a toolkit.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, dare I say it might be my favorite so far. Wow. Yeah, it's this one was up there. I don't know what about it, but it's just yeah, I liked it.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah. It's really good. Like I said, that's I like it too a lot. It's one of the top three, but I felt bad because it didn't do very well.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02And I think it was also because the fact of part five came out before and people were like kind of pissed off. Yeah. It's like we didn't bring Jason back, like, okay, you Jason's back now, but screw you.
SPEAKER_03Well, just think of like the time period it was in, like in the eighties, like they see the final chapter and it's supposed to be really good, like it was good. And then the fifth is just they're like, Oh, why the hell do they bring this back? Like they're just greedy for money, this movie, they put no effort into five. That's probably why they didn't see six.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And then also, honestly, like in the late 80s, the Sosher genre was declining.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because I mean, the mid eighties you had like Friday 13th, Amor and Elm Street, Halloween, Hellraiser, Child's Play, The Burning, like Sleepaway Camp, just a whole bunch of other slasher movies that all came out around the same time, so people were like, another one. Yeah. But came back, like I said, came back with Scream in 96 when uh like West Graven came brought it back. So it ebbs and flows. Now we're back again with Terrifier. Because it died out for a little bit now. Arcticlown's revitalizing it again.
SPEAKER_03And yeah, when is that coming out?
SPEAKER_02Next year.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02Terrifier 4. Yeah, definitely want to watch it. I'm excited for it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I still haven't even gotten around to the second one. But I watched the first and liked it.
SPEAKER_02We can do that after this. Just recently, like, what are you gonna do after this movie? Like, oh, there's I have hundreds of horror movies. Oh, yeah, we show you. We get to start terrifiers. Yeah. And I'm in Elm Streets and Halloween, so Hellraisers, just even other small horror films that don't have sequels to them. Oh yeah. Oh yeah, it's I get more than enough to show you. So we kind of talked about this earlier during the movie and about how the beginning with Tommy and his friend Alan were going to make sure that Jason was dead, and Alan talks about how they were in the mental hospital together, and you're like, Well, I guess he didn't kill Pam in the fifth movie. So yeah, he he didn't.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02They never really expressed what happened, but I mean, if he killed her, he wouldn't been out ever. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So well, as the dude says in uh The Princess Bride, a dream within a dream. A dream within a dream. That's Mawedge. That's what Tommy was thinking about because he had the dream that he was killing her. And then another dream after that that he was killing her. Yeah. In the hospital. So a dream within a dream.
SPEAKER_02I was going Space Balls. I was like Mayowage. Like, no, that's not that was Space Balls. Yeah. Love that movie too. All good. So there's original idea for this movie was to introduce Jason's father, whose name is Elias. Yes. Because you wonder who buried Jason. Because I mean, there's no family apparently. But then that was that was the idea was scrapped, but there was still like a novelization that talks about him like burying Jason and visiting his grave and just being he was like a deadbeat dad.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So it wasn't like, you know, Pamela Voorhees, psychotic, you know, killing killing for my son.
SPEAKER_03He's just like Did they divorce then or like what? Do they separate? Okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, separated and all that. But that's all in like there's no movies ever talks about him. It was just the novel novelization of it. So it was interesting though. It would have been cool to see him.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it w it would have been honestly, just to get a bit more of a backstory.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So then Tommy digs up Jason's body, uh, finds him fully dead, but proceeds to stab it with a metal fence post, which lightning strikes. So kind of like Frankenstein bringing his monster to life. So Jason becomes, you know, comes alive again, kills his friend, and all that begins Jason's next kills and the next well, not the remake, so the next five movies. So in this sense, does this mean that Tommy's responsible for all these kills as well?
SPEAKER_03Yes. I mean I I wouldn't have like I mean I understand his mindset and I understand for the plot, and he wants to look Jason in the eyes like see he's like, no, I want to see his body. They're like, okay, we see the grave, he's still here. And he's like, nah, that's not enough. Um it's definitely his fault. I feel like I would have just thrown gasoline on top of the grass above the grave and just burnt that as symbolism. But he wanted to l dig him up and look at him.
SPEAKER_02I I would I would have done what he did like not with the fence post, but uh like open the open the coffin, seeing his standards just light him on fire just to make double triple sure.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I mean, yeah, yeah, like anything. I mean again, you're you're not thinking in the moment like, oh, this is gonna be a lightning's gonna strike and lightning and then he's gonna come alive. Like you're not gonna you're not thinking of that.
SPEAKER_02Um but still it's yeah, it's still yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, well, and the one uh the one police officer calls Tommy Flash, which I thought was funny because a lightning strike happened.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I was just like, well, I mean, they didn't know they were thinking of it, but they were.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well, I'm sure they might flash like DC Flash because he was like so Megan's like, oh, he was with me when Cord died, and he's like, Well, you can be two places at once. Yeah, not really. So with this whole thing, what does it say in a more metaphorical level where we tend to leave our terrible past behind, but sometimes we feel like we need more closure, resulting in the past coming back to haunt us.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, honestly, it would it was perfect symbolism for that. Because like I'm trying to think of an an example, but there are a lot of people that like what's a good example toxic relationships. Like they keep saying they're done. They're saying, like, oh I'm in a much better place, I got a good job, I got this, that, that, and they keep going back to the same cycle of that person no matter how much they're hurt, and you actually backtrack your life when you go back to that. Like it if if you leave someone or something in the past and it didn't benefit you before, most likely it won't benefit you again. And even if you've forgiven them, they could change, could grow, could mature. People keep going back to that. Like I see a lot of women do that. Like they go back to toxic dudes, and I'm like friends of mine, I'm just like, you're an idiot. You're literally choosing what you chose to leave behind, you're choosing it again so I don't feel bad for you. It's like people think they need to like face it and forgive whatever happened and like have more closure and they just self-destruct. That's what I call it. Like you're self-destructing yourself. Yeah. Yeah. So that's Tommy had his way of that. Of course, it was with something completely different, but I just think of relationships. Like people like could leave their past a certain way and move forward, but they go back and that blows everything up.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. I thought he was just faced with like some uh emotional scars, but Tommy's case, she lives with a bunch of bodies.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like, yeah. It's kind of a kind of a higher way of doing it, but yeah.
SPEAKER_03And and just think like it it's so long after the fact too. It's like he could he really could not let it go. Like I feel like like, yeah, what he saw as a kid was traumatizing and like he stabbed someone to death. Like I'm sure this traumatizing, but like it's over a decade later is what you said, probably. So it's like would you really be thinking about it every single day in that extent? I mean I'd I'd think of it once a day for sure, but like haunting me the way it like it wouldn't haunt me, I don't think. Not not that long.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. I feel like it would haunt me if I was, you know, attacked when I was a kid by a plucky-faced, like huge brute of a killer that just like grabbed me from behind and went to burst through the window, or everything else. Like, yeah, it probably would stick with me more. But he went to a lot of the therapy, which I guess didn't work. Yeah. Because he went when you open the the grave and he hears you hear like the scene from far four, and Tris is like, no, and it's like die, yeah. He still thinks about that. Yeah, it was in part five, too.
SPEAKER_03That's what I mean. Like thinking about it to that extent years later, I'm just like, I would definitely think about it sometimes, but he's just like it's always on his mind. It's obsessive, yes.
SPEAKER_02So the title card for this movie, you see Jason's eye, and then it widens, and Jason walks through with like the machete and like slashes it's like James Bond. Yeah, it's like a spoof on James Bond. So like McLaughlin wanted this movie to be more comedic.
SPEAKER_03Like, um And it kind of was it was, yeah.
SPEAKER_02But uh the people at Paramount said he can as long as he doesn't make Jason a joke, which also yeah, he didn't make Jason a joke.
SPEAKER_03No, he didn't. I mean, there were there were like two times where it showed Jason just like tilting his head like a dog or something. That was funny.
SPEAKER_02That happens a lot, and like Jason and Michael, they both like scenes that they just like tilt their heads kind of like, huh?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like a curious little coup to say, huh? Yeah. I'm still still gonna kill you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It's like, oh, there's someone in there. Okay, time to die. Yeah. Um, so then Tommy goes to the police station, warns the sheriff of Jason's return, they don't believe him. So we're we're omnipotent observers, so we know Jason's back, and Tommy's right. Yeah. But if you were in the sheriff's shoes, would you have believed him or would you have done the same thing the sheriff did?
SPEAKER_03He handled it exactly how he was supposed to, I feel like. Like all I could think about the whole movie was like, I know we're supposed to be pissed off at him because we know Tommy's telling the truth, but like he asked the questions the sheriff would ask. He's just like, Oh, you're Tommy, your family wasn't one who got killed. Oh, you were in a psych ward. Like, those are the questions I would ask if I was a sheriff. So I'm like, he didn't really handle it wrong. He just was kind of working with what he got. He's just like, Oh, you're that psychotic kid that you washed your kids, or not your kids, but like your family get killed. Like, I get it. Yeah. You're you're crazy. Like, I I get the situation. Like in his mind, that was the truth.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah, because I mean in his eyes, like this Tommy Jarvis guy, he was in mental hospitals. Yeah. I mean, he endured part four and part five of Jason and fake Jason. So he'd be like, Yeah, I don't believe you, and uh probably gonna lock you up just to keep you overnight because I don't trust you.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and the last mental hospital he was in, like he went off on a dude and beat him up like at the hospital itself. You know what I mean? Yeah. Like they wouldn't have heard about the one in the trailer park, but like I'm sure it was talked about that he beat up another patient, like word got around somehow, probably I'm guessing. Yeah. Yep. So like I see where the sheriff's head was at.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So we're talking about the kill count. Yeah. Um Paramount actually wanted more kills in the movie. Okay. So that's why we got so there's like um a couple of vignettes, I call them in this, where like the main characters like Megan, the camp the counselors, and Tommy and the sheriff Garris, but yeah. Then it's like interspersed between there's just random uh moments. Yeah. So the first one is Darren and Elizabeth, we talked about with the the trivia part. So what'd you think about that segment?
SPEAKER_03Those were the In the car. In the car. Okay. With the spear and all that. I thought it was pretty cool. Like I I would have just full full floored it too and like tried running them over.
SPEAKER_02And like Didn't that happen to you before?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Uh I did say that. Yeah. So there was like a 6'5 or 6'6 dude just walking in the middle of the street at like four in the morning. And like he was on the other side of the street, then walks towards my car to like intimidate me. Like I know what he was trying to do. I'm like, it's like a burglar of some sort trying to get me to stop, trying to scare me. And I was like, no, I'm I'm gonna hit you unless you move. And like nobody's gonna know I did it. It's four in the morning. So I literally floored it just full speed. I'm like, you better move. And he did. Like I was fully willing to hit him. Yeah. Because he got right in front of my car. Like he was on the other side. Then he walked towards me. So that's when I knew some crap was up. I'm like, it's four in the morning. I'm not dealing with this crap.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Cars are weapons. Yes, I believe that.
SPEAKER_02Yep. So then Darren gets out his little pea shooter gun. That was like a little it's just a little baby gun.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I wouldn't have even given a warning. I would have immediately gotten out and just started blasting. I'm like, he already stood there long enough with what looks like a weapon.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Okay, Danny DeVito.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So anyway, I start blasting. So then Jason impales him with uh the uh fence post through the dick again.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and then just throws him over his shoulder. Pretty cool looking.
SPEAKER_02That was pretty cool. It's just leg spreads like phew.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And then the amount of times Elizabeth or like that's her name, right? Like she's just squirming around, like kicking in the mud. Yep. I'm like, try to get up now. Like she was literally kicking like 10 times, like do, do, do, do, do. I'm like, you look like a toddler, like throwing a fit. Oh, that pissed me off. But I was like, oh, for the plot.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and then happened.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and then Jason just spears her in the head with it. Yeah, I'm like, he went behind the car. You're stupid. He didn't just walk away.
SPEAKER_02Yep. I was I what was it? Uh part five when Pam is running from Jason's he falls, he's just kind of like crawling instead of getting up. Yeah. Like that's one of the tropes in horror movies I don't really care for. How the falling is like so you fall get up.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Or start bear crawling, like do something. Do the marine calling. Yeah. Like uh, like in football, you get on your your hands and your feet. Like not your hands and knees, but your hands and feet, and like you just crawl. It's like you're sprinting, but like with your arms too. Do that. Like humans can do that. Yeah. But instead, no, I'm gonna back up slowly and wait for you to catch up.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, just flail flail around. Yeah. We talked about this too during a movie when he's um being uh chasing sir uh the sheriff. Yeah. How like people can run and he can walk and still catch up to them. Yes. Well, I mean, first of all, in the game, it's a teleportation thing. Which some people say they joke around to say like, oh, Jason can teleport now because he's inhuman. I mean, maybe. Yeah. But I just also think that so you're running, the person that's running is exer exerting more energy.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And Jason's just lumbering in a like CJ Graham is six foot three. So for him to walk, it's a long stride to catch up, and also he's just walking, so he's not getting winded, where the guy person running says like after a while he's just start getting tired, so then it's gonna be time to catch up.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, honestly. And then when he does catch up, you don't have any energy to fight.
SPEAKER_02Nope. It's like I'm done. Yeah. So then the paintballers. Um I liked I liked this scene because very random, but very random and comedic with the little guy with the music going around. Fun fact with this too, it wasn't CJ Graham that was chasing in this, it was another it was a stunt guy, I think. I can't remember what his name was. But he was supposed to be Jason, but then Paramount saw the the scene and like, nope, he's too fat.
SPEAKER_03It was like fat as how insulting. They're just like, you're uh you don't make the cut.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well it wasn't fat as like muscle. He they're like they wanted a leaner Jason. Yeah. So uh so that wasn't CJ Graham doing those kills, but so what do you think about those the characters and their deaths?
SPEAKER_03I mean honestly they're kind of enjoyable. Just like I feel like I had somewhat of a care for them the moment I saw them just because they were like friends doing an innocent thing, just having fun doing paintball. Like girl sneaks up on them, uses a good strategy. I'm like, oh, they're just having a blast right now. And there's the nerdy dude with like glasses and goggles. I'm just like, oh, love him already.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Um and then the sexist uh one to he's just like women shouldn't be here anyway.
SPEAKER_03He's like, they need to be back in the kitchen. Like I just I even said out loud, hell yeah. I was just like they're they were just such like a stereotypical like friend group. They had like they had kind of like the D-bag misogynist dude, then just the nerdy, like quirky dude, the girl that's a badass, and the two dudes that act like badasses, but well the ones who were girl, yeah. Yeah, literally, I'm like, this is just a good friend group right now. So I was kind of sad to see them go.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I was just like, dang. Yeah, first it was the misogynist guy who gets his face uh pushed into a showed into a tree with a smiley face that's it.
SPEAKER_03That was pretty cool.
SPEAKER_02It was cool. The best part with that is afterwards Jason picks up his machete and has his hand and his arm still on it. Yeah, Jason's looking like, what the hell?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's another like they if they didn't mean to make it comedic, like it was pretty funny. I'm just looking at that, just like, dang, I'm pretty strong.
SPEAKER_02Well, I think that's what it is too, because this is the first time we see zombie Jason, so he's probably like, Oh, I know it's a strong. He's like, Wow. There's a deleted scene too where he he holds it and he just takes the hand and just drops it.
SPEAKER_03Oh, they they should have kept that in there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that would have been great.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Were they afraid to get like the ND17 rating or whatever it's called?
SPEAKER_02Actually, they almost had PG 13.
SPEAKER_03Really?
SPEAKER_02They had to keep adding more stuff to make it R.
SPEAKER_03Hmm. Interesting. I thought he was gonna like slaughter when he went in the cabin with all the kids. Oh yeah. I was just like, okay, this is the moment. Like he flips, he doesn't care about killing kids. Mm-hmm. And he still didn't he didn't know. I feel like he would have. I feel like he might have killed the one girl that like they were making eye contact, he got closer to her, but then of course a noise was heard, like it always is.
SPEAKER_02Yep, no witnesses.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Wait, so back to the paintballers. So the three get decapitated in one swipe. Yes, which is pretty cool. And then the little dudes just gets ripped to pieces off screen.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02I mean, poor.
SPEAKER_03That's his limbs shined everywhere.
SPEAKER_02Right. Yeah. So then that's the second group, and then the final group is uh with Martin the gravedigger. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02The crazy Ralph character.
SPEAKER_03I I thought that's who he was gonna be. I was like, oh, he's gonna be a peepin' tom, too, just staring at the moving sex, but he didn't even get to see it.
SPEAKER_02Nope.
SPEAKER_03Poor guy.
SPEAKER_02I love Well he's talking, he's talking to his bottle, he's like, You'll be the death of me. He throws it behind him, never hear it land. He's like, You've led me astray. Yep. So those in the back never hears never hears it fall.
SPEAKER_03Turns around, Jason's just holding it, cracks and just that's what I liked is like these kills, unlike the last movie, felt like thought out, and like it was clever that he noticed his bottle didn't hit the ground, and like Jason gets behind the car, like you know what's gonna happen, and then stabs the chick from behind, like looks above her. Yep. Like this whole plot felt thought out, and like they cared about making this movie genuinely good. Yeah, that's what I liked. Oh, yeah. The bottle was a really good one because he because he's drunk as hell. He's just like, Am I tripping? Am I am I that plastered? Or like, did I not hear that break?
SPEAKER_02I also fact that just stand there, just catches it. Just and stabs him.
SPEAKER_03Yep, yeah, like again, cool kills.
SPEAKER_02He just starts chopping up with the machete, and then uh so Steven and Annette are the couple that's in the woods celebrating their engagement, I guess. Always, yeah. Like, who who does a picnic in the middle of the woods in the middle of the night? Yeah. Doesn't make sense.
SPEAKER_03Not at night, not at night.
SPEAKER_02I mean in the daytime, I guess. Daytime, yeah. But but they're like middle of the night and like celebrating, like you should probably not do this at night, but yeah.
SPEAKER_03He's just such a D-back, he's like, you know, you thought I brought you up here for only one reason, but it's because I really love you.
SPEAKER_02And the one reason.
SPEAKER_03Yep, yeah. She's like, Well, I do owe you, like, like it's like what do he wanted? I'm like, Yeah, you can kill him. Yeah, I don't like this guy.
SPEAKER_02Yep. So the Steven sees uh Jason hacking up Martin, and Jason notices him. That was pretty cool too. It's just like reason machine, he looks like, hmm? Like, oh, hello. And they get on the bike to leave, and Jason appeals both of them at once. So it's kind of like with uh um with the paint bowlers, well no, with San Sandra or Sandy. Yeah, Sandra and Jeff and Jack and Marcy from the first two movies. Yeah. Yeah, I'm like, oh double appealment again.
SPEAKER_03And this was the first triple too with a paintballer. Yeah, that was cool.
SPEAKER_02Yep. One swipe, that's how strong he is. Yeah. So then, so that's all the filler material for the extra kills. Yeah. So the main characters is Tommy, Megan, Sheriff Garris, Sissy, Court, and Paula. Yeah. Um, so unlike any other films in the franchise, the cast is a lot smaller.
SPEAKER_04Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_02Like usually in like, you know, part two, I mean there was like a whole bunch of them, and part five, there was a bunch. So does this work for you? And do you think we get more character develop development out of it because of it?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I feel like I honestly like these characters a lot more. And um, I feel like you could see who they all were a lot better because like everybody else were just kind of random kills, but they weren't so random to the fact to the point where like they didn't make sense. You know what I mean? Like, they all had cool kills, and then you meet the main characters, and they seem like like they all their quirks to them. Like, some of them were generally good counselors. Um I don't know. I feel like they just there was more to them that made it like more significant whenever they would die. Yeah. Like I thought like I'm trying to think of a specific one. Like where I actually felt emotion if they would die. It's not just like, oh yeah, hell yeah, cool kill. It's just like, oh damn, he's actually gone. Like, I don't know. For this movie was one of the first ones that did that to me, where like I felt connected to them and I was like, Oh, I'd I'd really hang out with this group. Like I'd vibe with him.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, they were cool. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And the one dude was just vibing until the literal literal end just like in the van. You listen to Alice Cooper in the in the radio and yeah, she's screaming, horrified, making so many noise. He's like, You taking a shit back? And I was like, It's a little bit more.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Like, do you scream when you take a shit? That's yeah.
SPEAKER_03I mean, you have some like Which to be fair, I have I have one time. I had a lot of just like these these really hot the hot sauce off of Amazon, and like I and then I had like buffalo wings, which aren't those aren't hot, but just added on top of it. Then Buffalo chicken dip for the Super Bowl, all within two days. Oof. So then I was on the toilet and like you should ask Faith about this next time she's here. The noises I was making, I was screaming. Wow. I was like, you know, it's not so far fetched anybody, like, you taking shit. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You're setting that toilet on fire.
SPEAKER_03He's like, babe, you want me to turn it up louder?
SPEAKER_02As she's dying. Right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Well, that's another thing, is like when she was dying. I think that's another thing about characters. It's like to this point you kind of barely saw her character, but I still felt really bad because it's all you saw her like not just straight up get killed, like she struggled. Yeah. I was like, Oh, I kind of don't like watching this because it's as if like a rapist or serial killer is like doing it in front of me. Yeah. So I I don't like that they showed her struggle so much.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they had her, he had her for a while.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it gave the effect a lot more though. Like I liked it. Oh yeah. Hard to watch.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah. So the kids arrive at camp, and this is the first time in the franchise where actually kids arrive at a camp. Yeah. So, you know, it took six times, so we finally have kids. Yeah. So we kind of talked about hinted at this earlier. So do you ever think that Jason would have killed the kids, considering like Tommy in the fourth movie? Like Jason didn't really go after Tommy until Trish like really brought Jason to him.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I feel like he's finally getting to the point where he's just a cold-blooded killer and doesn't care. Because I fully believe he would have killed, especially the one little girl if he wasn't interrupted. Like he seems like he just doesn't care anymore and he enjoys how strong he is and how how much terror he could cause. Like he likes people seeing him kill their friends and kill people around them. Like he likes seeing that fear in their eyes before he kills them. He just does not care who it is anymore.
SPEAKER_02Well, the director actually said that Jason would not harm a child out of sympathy for the plight of children generated by his childhood drowning.
SPEAKER_04Oh, gotcha.
SPEAKER_02So that's why he was staring at them, but he wasn't doing anything because he was like, You remind me of me.
SPEAKER_03See, that's what we said in uh in one of the other ones. Like we thought he wouldn't kill kids, but like this was the first one where I thought he would.
SPEAKER_02But if the director says it, I'm Yeah, the director and the writer, you know, he kind of has final say on it. Yeah, I guess I guess so. I mean it makes sense, but then also he really tortured those kids. Yeah, he did. Like he kept rushing through the door and would just like stare at them.
SPEAKER_03Like that's what I mean, is like he enjoyed the fear he caused and the terror he caused. Like he liked people watching what he was doing.
SPEAKER_02He did watch a lot.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Because there were sometimes he would just like like the sheriff, for example, like he would just stare. He would just look at you and like give you a second or run or something. He's just like, just try it, just try anything. I want you to. I want to see how I want to see your effort fail.
SPEAKER_02A lot of people compare Jason to Jaws. Jaws. The shark from Jaws. Yeah. Or like it just kind of like watches and stalks now. Yeah. Before it strikes. I'm like, especially at the end when he just walks into the water and it's like, dun it, dunno, dunno. But no, but yeah, I could see that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I was kind of surprised to see him go under. Like Jason start swimming, but then I again I was just like, okay, but this is a new version of him. This is him proving to himself, even like, oh, I am a badass. Like I can do anything I want.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Basically.
SPEAKER_03I I feel like was do you think that was symbolism that like he's a completely new Jason, like him just choosing to go under?
SPEAKER_02No, it's just like he was so set on killing Tommy he didn't care where he was. Oh, maybe. Yeah. Like look down in the wall, he's just kept his eyes on Jason uh on Tommy. He just kept going down, down, down, then boop. So I just think it's more so like a like a shark. Like you see the prey, you just go right at it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and then him walking towards him on the dock, like to come out to the boat. I was just like, oh, it's about to go down. Like you could feel it. You're like, it's about to go down. Oh yeah. Which that scene was also really sweet. Him setting the water on fire, like the aesthetic of it. Like the whole movie, like it felt like a better plot. I loved it.
SPEAKER_02Definitely. Yeah. So with Megan is uh the sheriff's daughter and also the counselor. Yes. So you know, the sheriff tells him, tells her, like, stay away from Tommy, you know, he's crazy and all that stuff. So then Megan seems to take a shine to him. So do you think it's because she considers him a bad boy or is she really inclined to believe him?
SPEAKER_03Um honestly, like, for some reason it felt like whatever they were developing had like weird baggage mixed with it, but it felt genuine. Like it felt like the start of something. That that's what I thought about it. Like when they were like kissing through the like cage or bars or whatever. I'm just like, Alright, I could kind of see this actually working out, and then like her telling them to stay down, and then like sees him getting hard, she's like, That's what I want. Like, I'm like, maybe they're actually like seems like something's genuine, like they're on each other's level, they're the same level of weird. Yes, that's that's what I thought. I'm both very weird. They just click.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So in my mind, I'm like, yeah, that makes sense.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I felt the connection there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, honestly, I did. I was just like, they have more of a connection than a lot of couples in Friday the 13th so far.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think she was coin she was coy with the idea. Yeah, because anyone she was back at campus, like, what if it is true? What if Jason is back to Nadietta? Like, does he believe it or not? But I think she did.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But it's just more to him than really matter to that. So back to the RV scene. So um Nikki is the girl. Yeah. She was played by Darcy De uh Darcy DeMoss. Okay. We've seen her before.
SPEAKER_03Darcy DeMoss.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, in another Friday 13th movie.
SPEAKER_03Which movie?
SPEAKER_02Uh the final chapter, 4-4.
SPEAKER_03Oh my goodness. Uh but she wasn't someone who survived, it was just a background character, probably. Like redished as a different character.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, she was uh when Axel is at the beginning when Jason's at the morgue and Axel the the douchebag uh corner guy is watching the Oh wait, she was the one on the screen. Yep. Okay, yeah. Which is actually a real show. It was a real show, so yeah.
SPEAKER_03I was wondering when she would pop up because I remember you saying, like, oh, she appears in the series. Yep. Yeah, I that should have clicked immediately, but yeah. A lot of girls look like that back in the day with the blown out hair.
SPEAKER_02That was different. Man, 80s style was great.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I love the hair, honestly.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the hair is awesome.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, so then like we said, Jason grabs her in the bathroom and pushes her face through the wall so more so hard it goes through like you see like her. It's like taking the when it's like serving trays and like wonking someone ahead with it and it's like see their thing like, damn.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm just like the force he has is crazy. Yeah. Very impressive.
SPEAKER_02And then he drives the knife through Court's head.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02And then the RV flips. What do you think about that? That whole sequence when the R V just flips.
SPEAKER_03Uh that I think that's when maybe it first clicked that I was like, oh, I'm gonna like really love this movie and it's gonna rank very high for me. Cause like it just felt so put together when it flipped, and then like the shot of Jason like just busting out the door, like walking out, like un unscratched.
SPEAKER_02I'm like, man, this is the RV on fire, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it was awesome.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's uh McLaughlin McLaughlin talked about that scene that he had you know at one shot to do it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So like the stunt driver was driving, and they had to they had CG Graham in the in the RV the whole time.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because they wanted him to come out through the door, and then people are like, Why we why would he have to be in there the whole time? It's just flipped the RV and they put him in afterwards, but whatever. He didn't mind.
SPEAKER_03Well, yeah, because they could have like she even walks out like when they're looking at the power line thing, like the charging port. And um, you're just thinking, like, okay, the door's on the other side. Jason probably went in there, like I I even said him. Oh, he's in there.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03So they could have just not had him waiting in there, like they could have had him physically get in when the other shot of the RV was there, but you know, they did what they gotta do.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, put the surprise in, like, oh maybe they gotta wait. No, he's in the bathroom. Yep. He was taking a shit.
SPEAKER_03I wonder if that caught a single person off guard or if everybody got like, oh, he's definitely in the bathroom.
SPEAKER_02I'm pretty sure they knew they were gonna die. Yeah. But even the 80s, who knows?
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Maybe like, oh my gosh. I doubt it. We don't know because we always knew, like, okay, well, they're gonna die. So it's not really a surprise to us.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Oh, can we talk about how weird that sex scene was? She's like, to the beat. Ten more minutes.
SPEAKER_02Ten more minutes. Yep.
SPEAKER_03And the motion they were going, I'm like, they are not having no. It just didn't look right.
SPEAKER_02I mean, they're fully clothed.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, this is the this is the only one in the franchise that has no nudity in it.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, I was I was surprised.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was very awkward. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I thought for sure sissy like there'd be nudity. I don't know why. It showed her, and then I was just like, She looks like she's gonna be a slutty person for some reason. But happened to not be.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no. Yeah, it was this is really funny. That is a funny scene because literally she's fully like top-on, but that's like I guess it's like dry humping or what?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and then like he still somehow just ruined it and you know, finished a little too early. And I'm just like the song was done. I'm like, what do you think?
SPEAKER_02Well, the song was done because the I mean Jason pulled out, yeah. But you know, he he did what he wanted to do.
SPEAKER_03He's like, Well, I guess it's over, and he knows damn well it wasn't ten minutes. You know, if it had he lived, he's like, I lasted a whole ten minutes, he probably went and told all his boys, but right.
SPEAKER_02Nope. That was funny though. That was so awkward thinking about it.
SPEAKER_03It was so funny. Okay, and then seeing the shot of the RV rocking, and Jason just like the tilt, yep. He's just like, Well, it's time.
SPEAKER_02Yep. It's like, huh.
SPEAKER_03He's like, at least they get to hear a good song before they die.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. No, Jason's probably like, hmm, the RV seems kind of the shock seem kind of bad. Let me go check underneath the hood.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And Jason's he's honestly a nice guy. He even let them listen to some of the song again before killing him. Yeah. He's a good guy. He's like, no, you can finish your song.
SPEAKER_02He's a gentleman.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So then the the Sheriff Garrison's men find all the bodies, and he's convinced that Tommy's a copycat killer. Yeah, thinking his delusions caused him to snap. So again, we know more than they do. Yeah. So if he were in Garrus's shoes, would you have the same thoughts?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'd be like, Well, this dude's really going to great lengths to prove this. And I mean how you can't blame the sheriffs, like he was in a psych ward, you're just like, wow, he's really willing to go through with this. Yeah. And they know Tommy's able to beat people up, they've heard about it again. So I'm just like, Alright, yeah. Good good thought process. He definitely did that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, again, like people hate on Garus a lot.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But again, in that situation, you don't you don't know Jason's killing people. You think, well, the logical explanation is this crazy kid who was in the loony bin is talking about killing people and people getting killed and now people are dying, so Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So then so that's what will happen in there. So then back at the camp, there's Sissy and Paula and the kids. And uh Sissy is talking about this special card game she wants to play. Yes. So we're gonna play that now. I got that here. You okay. So the game for that was so like different cards. So um I have a Friday 13th deck, so it's it's all Jason's. Yeah. But this Jason is the Joker Jason. Uh-huh. So Jason's the Joker in this one, not a Jack in the movie. So he's like, okay, so you shuffle Jason into the deck, and you split up into four like into um different uh groups, and each group represents a cabin, and you have to guess which one which cabin Jason's in. So I got four cabins of four. So we got one, two, three, four. Which one do you think Jason's in? It's not in the movie, this is for three. Alright, so let's see. We got King, Queen, Jack, and Ten. Nope. Try again.
SPEAKER_03Oh wait, he's the Joker, not Jack. Yeah, he's the Joker. I was about to say, wait, Jack. Oh, let's see. Two.
SPEAKER_02Alright. Nine, eight, six, and five. You are not good at finding Jason.
SPEAKER_03Oh no. So four.
SPEAKER_02One more chance. Four? Four. Yeah. Alright. King, three, ace, and ace. What? Did not wow. How?
SPEAKER_03Alright, so first time jitters, I'm getting zero.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Jason's number number one.
SPEAKER_03Aren't there?
SPEAKER_02He's just helping kill all the counselors.
SPEAKER_03That's crazy.
SPEAKER_02Also, this game makes no sense. Okay. I have no idea. Like, what is this game supposed to be? Like, so you get it right, then what? You get hey, I I get well, I mean, now I can pick on you now, like you can't find Jason or shit.
unknownI know.
SPEAKER_02Your words. Yep. So that's the game. Makes no sense. Uh-huh. I thought it was pretty funny. Yeah. So then Jason kind of haunts it. Oh no, this is uh my friend John got a pop, Funka Pop of me. What? Yeah, it's pretty cool. I'll show you later more in detail. Yes. Yeah. So um Jason, that's when he goes to the kids' cabin, and the one girl's like, I saw a monster. So like, oh court's just playing a joke, yada yada yada. So then Paula's in bed and Sissy hears a noise outside, so she thinks it's Court again, so she dumps the uh pop on him. Yeah. So basically Jason just got dumped with pop on him. So then Jason pops up and just grabs her, pulls her through the window, which I think is great because then her slippers just fall.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like, okay. Then snaps her neck around and pulls her head off.
SPEAKER_03That was pretty cool.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I liked I liked Sissy because like you said, like she looked like she'd be the slut. Yeah. But she just she was a nice person.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, just genuine, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I was like, oh poor thing. And then later on, Paula um gets killed by Jason in the cabin with a machete. Yeah. Which most of us off-screen, you don't see what happens if we're like her body, like well, her body going through the wind the window, Jason pulling it back in.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then you see at the end, like literally from like ceiling to floor, it's covered in blood.
SPEAKER_03Well, that's what I'm saying about like liking these characters more. Like the camper was so terrified and came to Paula and like she talked to her how you would talk a little kid down off of something, like trying to calm her down, like using that voice you use with a kid. Like just they just seem genuine, like nice people. So it's like it kind of meant more when they died. I'm just like, oh, that was a good counselor who like really tried counseling a kid and yeah, died for it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well saying Paulisteth is more brutal than the others. Yeah. Which is sad because she was like the nicest of all of them. Yeah. But there's also people that well, it's people who say uh it's because like we said, I told you during the movie that she looks a lot like Alice from the first movie. Yeah. So Jason could be like, You're the one that killed my mother.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So that's why he was like watching her when she was with the kid and everything. He's just kind of keeping an eye on her. So it looks like her. Yep. So he's just literally man. Like you didn't even see her body. Like there was no body, this is blood. Like he just eviscerated her.
SPEAKER_03Yes. A lot of blood.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm like, damn, that that's hardcore right there. So what do you think about the car chase scene with uh Megan and Tommy and uh the cops?
SPEAKER_03Pretty awesome. Honestly, it it threw me off guard. It felt like we were watching a completely different movie. Yeah. And like whoever they got to drive the car, like the stunt, stunt double, whoever did that. Pretty sick. Yeah. And it was a Chevelle too, right? It just all I could think about was the live action Bumblebee. Oh yeah. Yeah. I can see that. Just the like the because that was one of the like the live action transformers are like good and bad. I know you don't like them because you grew up on the original. Yes. But like the car chase scene with Barricade, the police car, kind of reminded me of that. I'm like, oh, this is just a sick classic car.
SPEAKER_02The first movie I liked.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then the other ones that Michael Bay did I thought were terrible. But then um the other director did Bumblebee. Yeah. Which I thought was great.
SPEAKER_03Yes, it was.
SPEAKER_02Because when Bumblebee back to the RV. I mean not RV, the BW bug. Which is also in this movie. Yeah. With Darren and Lizbeth, their car was a bug.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I honestly like I thought the car trace scene was very good, and then like ending with like her turning onto the road and then seeing her dad with the gun, just like, oh crap.
SPEAKER_02And the Thomas between her legs. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Like it was just good. It's like wow, they actually thought about this movie. They didn't just throw it together for money. Yeah, I like it. But it still was for money, but yeah.
SPEAKER_02But I do like its action-y comedy, like it the RV flipping and everything. Like you don't find these in most Friday 13th movies.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. It was very cool.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Felt like an action movie.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm. So then uh the sheriff takes him back to jail, and then he finds out that Cordon uh Nikki are dead. So Megan tells him, like, Tommy was with me when it happened, so he couldn't have done it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So then he still leaves. So was Garrus just being a sh uh short-sighted um thoughts with uh Megan, or was he actually confused on how his prime suspect can be at two places at once, and he just didn't answer Megan because he didn't want to look like an idiot on his job?
SPEAKER_03Uh I just feel like he he didn't like how snarky his daughter was being already, like how much he would talk back, and like he said she was badmouthing, like enough being a smart ass. Like he said something along those lines. He didn't want to be wrong, and he's just like, No, I'm gonna go make extra sure though, because like you're already testing my limits today. Yeah. So it's like he he just did not want to be wrong about that. He's just like, no, I I have to like it doesn't make sense if it's anybody else, like it can't be.
SPEAKER_02That's the only part about him that frustrated me. Is like obviously he didn't do it. Yeah, can't be in two places. Like even the his assistants like I called him Flash. I'm like, dude, he's he ain't Barry Allen. Yeah, he can't be in two places at once. So but also kind of points to like cops in general that like sometimes when they want to f solve a case that seems unsolvable, they take like, oh, the boyfriend did it. Yeah. Like, okay, well, I mean we can there's no proof of it, but we can kind of conjecture stuff here, make it look like he's guilty. Yeah, for sure. Just to be like, see, look, we got a case done. Yeah. So I'm like, oh. So then uh him and his men go to the well, Camp Forest Green, Crystal Lake, whatever. Yes. And then Megan breaks Tommy out, which is pretty funny too. I like the little um well, they said the kiss they had. Yeah. And just how they were like fooling around with the clever scene, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02They got the got Rick to go and uh let him out. So yeah. So they head over there with all the supplies that Tommy got because for him it's to kill Jason is to return him to where he once died. Yeah. So they had to drown him again. So then Jason kills the two cops. It's kind of cool with the knife throwing and then uh the part actually they're both part three kills. Yeah. Because I mean part three, she was Vera was in the lake and he had the spear gun.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But it just was a regular knife that he just threw. And then Rick, when he crushes his skull and his eye pops out, that other cop, he crushed his skull, and that was more believable too, because his eye didn't pop out, but he heard the sound effects are great too, because you heard like the crunching.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like, oof.
SPEAKER_03Like this movie definitely took a step up. Like, did they have what was the budget again?
SPEAKER_02Uh like three three million.
SPEAKER_03Okay, and that's a probably a little bit more than before. Yeah, I'm gonna guess. Yeah, yeah. So I feel like you could tell. Like it all looked a little bit more real. Yeah. The only time you could really like see a mannequin was when like the head fell out of the back of the car. Yeah. But like the rest, it it felt real. Like it felt good. Like, I'm like, this is very good for the 80s.
SPEAKER_02Oh yes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So then the sheriff finally sees Jason. Yeah. Which I think is it was pretty funny how he shot him with the shotgun. Yeah. And just falls, and then Jason's gun sits up, shoots him again. Yep. The music three times, like stands up, shoots him, shouldn't shoot him. Like, even though it's like a little comedic.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and on the third day, cross rose.
SPEAKER_02Amen. Yep. So um sheriff's like, oh fuck this. Starts running. So then Jason chases him, and then Tommy and Megan arrive. Megan's screaming for her dad, so Jason gets distracted again because he hears a noise. So he goes back, and then so the sheriff like can't let Jason kill his daughter, so he's like tries to kick him at him with a with a stick. You know what I think? Dude, I think this is one of the better kills when Jason grabs him and like Lily like bends him backwards.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, just snaps him.
SPEAKER_02Snaps his back, like right, like I don't know how you describe it, but yeah.
SPEAKER_03Well, that's another thing is like again, I felt more connected to the characters. It made me kind of sad when the sheriff died. Like he only pissed me off really one time, but I'm like, he's just being a good dad or trying to be.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. You think he was a good dad? Huh? Do you think he was a good dad or it's just over the overly protective?
SPEAKER_03I was up and down about it. I feel like overall he was a good dad, like his intentions were there, but he just I feel like because he was a sheriff and because his wife already had passed, like they talked about it, like yeah, he felt more of a pressure to be hard on her. So it's like I could kind of see why he acted the way he did.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So that's so funny, uh, cool thing with that scene is that um the actor was in a pit, like they dug out a pit. Yeah. And so the actor was standing in the pit. There's another actor that had like the same colored pants he was wearing, he was in the pit face down.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay. I mean, that's pretty clever.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so that was the actor's legs, and the other the actor's head in the in the hole's legs was kicking out, so then when they bend it backwards, like, huh?
SPEAKER_03So practical effects.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well, I mean, it's the 80s, that's all he had.
SPEAKER_03It's pretty cool.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I respected that. I'm like, cool. Yes. So then um Jason goes after Megan, starts to kill her with the cracking of the skull again. Yeah. You heard that too. You heard the cracking, like, she's gonna have a big headache after this. Yes. So then Tommy's in the lake already to calling taunting Jason, so Jason just drops her and you know, again, like jaws, sees the target. So do you think he knew Tommy? Because Tommy's all like, it's me you want. Come and get me, you chicken shit. So do you think he knew it was Tommy? He's just was like, Oh, someone else I have to kill now.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, because he immediately stabs uh what was the dude's name in the graveyard, Tommy's friend. Oh yeah, uh Alan. Yeah, immediately stabbed him through the but then he has like a moment of clarity where he just stares at Tommy. It's like he didn't immediately go for it. He's just like he wanted to feel the moment of how big it was and like recognized him. So I think it it showed Jason being kind of caught off guard. So I think he knew who he was.
SPEAKER_02I don't know if he knew who he was. I just think he's not a threat where like Alan like hits him in the head with a shovel. Yeah. So then dude, that was cool too when Jason just first punches through his chest and grabs his heart.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. That was pretty cool too.
SPEAKER_03That was pretty awesome.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I guess I don't think he really knows who Tommy was. I just think that again, the predatory instinct puts I mean he had Megan pretty much like he's gonna crack her skull, so he's like, Well, you're no threat to me. I'm done. There's like a kid playing with the toy. He's like, I'm done with this toy, I'll play with this one.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So goes out to a lake, Tommy sets it on fire, like he said, it was pretty cool. And then they tie Jason up to the Stomping. Oh, you got a ghost again. Somebody. Probably my ghost. Yeah, for sure. Yep. So um gets the the chain around Jason's neck, drops a boulder in, sinks to the bottom, and then um looks like he's dead, but then of course not, strangles Tommy, knocks him a con strangles him unconscious, Megan jumps in to save him. Jason grabs her, she turns on the propeller. That was pretty cool. Yes. Propeller right into his neck and just kind of snaps it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, she steered it like how the old-fashioned propellers were to kill him. Like that, that was pretty sweet.
SPEAKER_02Yep. But then in the end, for the first time, Jason is not dead because you see him still just at the bottom of the lake with his eyes open. Yeah. Which kind of sucks for him because he's like, Well, now what am I gonna do? He's like, I can't move, I can't do anything. I was just gonna just stare at this water.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean it's shows us that he's pretty much immortal now, like can't even really drown because the water clearly wasn't affecting him. Yeah. Yeah. That was man, that was really I don't know why I didn't think of that. The whole water scene was just really clever.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I loved it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I will say though, setting a no, I kind of see why he did it. Like Tommy set the water on gas and fire. I'm like, the boat looks like it has some wood on it, looks like it could burn. Tommy literally, I think that's to show he didn't care about himself as much as just ending this completely. Like ending Jason, ending the history of Jason. Yep. He didn't care about himself living or dying, because I feel like he wouldn't have set it on fire.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well, that's why he went alone. Yeah. Like he kept trying to do everything alone to make it like, I'm going with you. He's like, fine.
SPEAKER_03I know. It's like he didn't really care to live, he just cared to end it. Like so he could die with a good conscience.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That he finally uh accomplished his goal. Yeah. Which he did when he was twelve, but you know, whatever.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Dug him up again.
SPEAKER_02Right. So in the end of all this, like it's all over, movies ended. Do you think the police will believe Tommy and Megan's story? Uh Tommy is seen as the town patriarch, uh town pariah who uh was in a mental hospital, and Megan is the woman who broke him out of jail. Everyone else that were witnesses to Jason is dead, except for the children who are probably too traumatized to really do anything.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean, I don't know if they'd really trust the campers as witnesses, to be honest, if they question all-I mean, I feel like if at least a few of the kids had the same story, then they're just like, okay, maybe like they did see something and it wasn't Tommy, like the one chick who said it was a monster, like they'd probably especially question our like her friends would be like, oh, tell them what you saw. You know, but again, they're traumatized kids, so I don't know how far that'd get them. But and I'm trying to think, like 86, I don't know how forensics worked. Not very well. Yeah, so it's it's just like, can you really trace it back to like Jason's hands being on all of them? Or would you just kind of assume it's Tommy? Like I feel like I'd just like the sheriff did, just like it was probably him.
SPEAKER_02I mean, also, I mean the ace in the hole would Tommy be like, I mean, Jason's at the lake, you can go see him. Yeah. Like take a field trip and go into the water, like, oh look, there's a unalive person, like a zombie type being thing in the bottom of the lake, just staring at you. Yeah. It's like, yeah, he killed him.
SPEAKER_03I know they'd they'd be like, I feel like one of the police officers, like, I don't know who were any of them left alive.
SPEAKER_02Uh Rick. Okay. Because they locked him in the prison. Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_03I feel like he'd be like, oh, Tommy's psychotic enough to dig up Jason's body and do that just to make us believe he wasn't the killer, like that Jason was. Like, I feel like Rick would probably say something like that. Yeah. No matter what, Tommy's going to prison, going to jail. Yeah. There's no way he got out of it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's no.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It's always interesting, and like I like thinking about these movies at the end, like after the credits. It's like, okay, well, what happens next? Yeah. You know, making up your own story.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and like Rick literally is like, oh yeah, Megan's psychotic enough to like leave with this psycho so she was involved. Like, she would he would not defend Megan. No. There's no way he would.
SPEAKER_02No. Yeah. No. So yeah, they're probably both in jail. Yeah, for sure. So would you say that this film serves as a as a commentary on society's tendency to bury atrocities rather than confront them? The people of Crystal Lake want to forget Jason's killing spree by simply changing the town name, and the majority of the plot revolves around Tommy fleeing the law after he drives the ire of the police for trying to warn them about Jason's resurrection, showing society is oftentimes more quick to punish those who raise attention to tragedies rather than the people who perpetrate them.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I feel like um honestly nowadays it's kind of sad, like freedom of speech is getting less and less respected. Like there's divided sides constantly, and like you go into a comment section of literally any video and you'll see someone arguing about something, whether it like relates to what's currently going on or not. Like everybody just has such a different perspective on the world, and um I don't know, some people just kind of live I'll call it blindly, like they don't want to look at what's around them, but like if you do really open your eyes, like there's a lot you should pay attention to. So I feel like the town just trying to completely forget it is like not what's right. Like I feel like if anything, because of how big it got, it'd be something like like Ted Bundy or like Gary Ridgway or Dahmer, like the serial killers you learn about in history because of how like much of an impact they had. I feel like it should have that impact. They'll be like, oh, this happened in our town. Like it it's history, like it should be in their history, but instead they like try to bury it. Like again, imagine we weren't taught about 9-11, and then you randomly find out about it, you're like, Why didn't I learn about this? That's so weird. This is a huge thing. Yeah, that's kind of like this. It's like you really like shouldn't just ignore it. It happened.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02So they're like, Yeah, we'll just rather kind of band-aid through the cancer type of thing.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I I don't like that. I I feel like you need to talk about your tragedies, and like that's the better way to move past them is like confronting them and moving on. Like, don't try to completely ignore them. Yep. It's like Tommy didn't completely move on, but he he at least confronted his past, but he took it too far. So I feel like there has to be somewhere in the middle where like you don't go back to sabotage yourself or anybody else, but you also don't act like it didn't happen. Like you just like, oh, this exists, I'm moving forward.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I figure that for Tommy would have been just to set the body on fire and not stab it. Yeah. But again, we didn't know like he would never expect, oh, Frankenstein's gonna come and revive his monster. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So Jav and Confession, I've not seen any of the Frankenstein's. Well any any version of Frankenstein.
SPEAKER_02Wow. I mean the story, right?
SPEAKER_03Not really. Really? No. Wow. I mean, I've huh I've heard about it a lot, I just don't know what actually it w it was some doctor.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Victor Frankenstein. Yes. He gathered like different body parts um to make a human. Yeah. And to ri um resurrect it, he like put it on the table, sent it up on this thing to like um out to the roof of the the building, the castle, yeah, and had a thing attached to it, so light lightning struck the the pole and it brought him to life.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I have not seen any of the Frankensteins.
SPEAKER_02How about the Draculas?
SPEAKER_03No. Good God, I got so much to show you. Fun fun fact, like the only the only Frankenstein and Dracula I've seen are in Hotel Transylvania. Wow. Like that's the level of like I haven't seen them. Huh. Actually, no, was there no there wasn't. And in the original Adams Family, was there a Frankenstein?
SPEAKER_02Probably not. I mean, there's like a Frank Frankenstein type. Okay. But no, it wasn't a Frankenstein. Okay, no, then I have not. Wow. Interesting. I know. A lot to watch. There's a lot to watch. You're like, we're gonna do after this. I'm like, oh guess so much. In the words of Pinhead from Hellraiser, I have such sights to show you. I know.
SPEAKER_03I was about to bring that up. I was like, I remember you saying that before.
SPEAKER_02Yep, I had him signed it when I met him, Doug Bradley, right up there. He's like, I have such sights to show you. Like, can you please do that? He's like, okay. So another funny thing about this movie is like uh Martin, the gravedigger, when he's like redigging uh Jason's grave, he breaks the fourth wall and looks at the camera and says, Some folks have a strange idea of entertainment. Yeah. So do you agree? And what is it about horror movies that make them so appealing?
SPEAKER_03I don't know. It it is slowly becoming my favorite genre. So it's like I don't know what it is about them. It's like they feel even if you know what's gonna happen, and like like you and I can't get jump scared as easily as most people probably. Yeah. But it's like you still love feeling that in your bones, like watching it, yeah. The suspense of it, the unnerving of it. Like you just something about it I'm starting to really love.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It's kind of like with like roller coasters or like being at a like um aquarium we see like sharks swimming. Yeah. It's like there's danger, but you're not in danger, but you like the feeling of being in danger.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That's what I like about horror movies and also just originality.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and like most people find gore like disgusting, but it's like I find it just kind of cool.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's cool. I don't know. Yeah, it's pretty Awesome.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It's just my favorite. Like it's entertaining. It's yeah. There's stuff happening.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I know we have sick minds.
SPEAKER_02We do we do. I sp me especially, but I'm I'm I'm burrowing into your brain now for that. Yes. So now we gotta rank our final characters as we always do. Oh gosh. Now we got Alice from part one, Ginny part two, Chris from three, Trish and Young Tommy from part four, Pam Reggie and Teenage Tommy from five, and now Tommy, adult Tommy and Megan. Yeah. So at the bottom of the list, who would you have?
SPEAKER_03I'm starting to just lose track of who's who now. Uh I feel like I would put what's Chris at the bottom. Part three? Yes. And then Reggie. Whatever chick was with Reggie. Yes. Uh down there. Um, let's see. Oh, now I gotta go through like the movies.
SPEAKER_02So we got Alice from one, Jenny from two, Trish and young Tommy from four, teenage Tommy from five, and then adult Tommy and Megan from this one.
SPEAKER_03Alright, so teenage Tommy. Uh let's see. Alice. Yes. And then let's see.
SPEAKER_02So Ginny, Tristan, young Tommy, and then adult Tommy and Megan.
SPEAKER_03Alright, so I'd probably put. Probably put. Oh gosh. That's really tough. This is really tough. Probably put young Tommy. But not in a bad way, but just because I have to put him there. Yeah. Uh then let's see. Trish. Very good older sister. Try to protect your brother. Love that. Yep. Um. So Jenny, Adult Tommy and Megan. Yes. Let's see. So I'd say Megan. Adult Tommy and Jenny. Nice. Yes. Jenny's still number one.
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, which like Adult Tommy, I I did really like. I I did like him a lot. Yeah. It's can't take Jenny's spot yet.
SPEAKER_02Nice.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Alright, so now ranking all six movies. So in last place would be three or five.
SPEAKER_03But I'm the order of things.
SPEAKER_02So basically six and fifth. Six and fifth or three and five. Yes. Okay. So fourth?
SPEAKER_03So three and five. Oh, let's see.
SPEAKER_02One, two, four, and six and five.
SPEAKER_03Three, five. One, four, two, six.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
unknownWait.
SPEAKER_03Am I missing one?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I missed this one more. Three, five, one, four, six. Two.
SPEAKER_03Two. Three, five, one, four, two, six. Okay. I think I I'll still rank. And and like, and that's not like a bad, like, fourth seems bad, but like let's see, one, two, four, and six are all really good. So I feel like those are just gonna keep flip-flopping. Yep. It's like this one I'd say this one, yeah, was my favorite so far.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I have a feeling change. I honestly have a feeling the rest of these movies that's gonna be a top four. Yeah, I think. Yeah. But we'll see. All right. Well, now let's see if you can redeem yourself. Come on, come on. As uh as uh not cinema, that's the name of the podcast. First time jitters. So the first out of five questions, first movie got three right, second one three right, third one two right, fourth one two right, and last one one. Yes. So number one, this is a uh a uh softball question. When Lisbith falls out of the car and she reaches her wall, she gives out money and stuff to Jason, thinking, oh hey, he just wants money. Yeah, there's a credit card that she also has, tries to give to him, and he doesn't take it, obviously. So what is a credit card?
SPEAKER_03The American Express.
SPEAKER_02Yes, yes, you got a one right.
SPEAKER_03Well, they just showed it for like four or five seconds. I was just like, okay, this has to be, please.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_03Just one.
SPEAKER_02What is the name of the cemetery where Jason is buried?
SPEAKER_03Oh, wait, wait. Okay. I actually tried remembering this because they showed it and it said one mile away. It was like pleasant hills.
SPEAKER_02Eternal peace.
SPEAKER_03Eternal Peace.
SPEAKER_02Oh gosh. Okay, yeah. All right. One still. So getting back to the game we played with the card game, Sissy had a name for the game. What was the name of it?
SPEAKER_03Camp Blood.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. Yep.
SPEAKER_03Okay, I thought I thought of something.
SPEAKER_02Camp Blood, yep. Yeah. And speaking of Sissy, what is the number on the front of her shirt?
SPEAKER_0337.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Okay. You got three right. You're on par with the um the other ones. Last question. When Jason arrives at the camp, there is a series of words on the left. What is the first word?
SPEAKER_03So I thought you were gonna ask what's the last word because the last word was tolerant.
SPEAKER_02I was thinking about putting it up. Nah, that's too easy. Let's try the first one.
SPEAKER_03Oh my gosh, no. So I looked at the wrong word. Oh, I thought okay. Uh probably not, but can I get a first initial?
SPEAKER_02No, but you can.
SPEAKER_01You can you can do a I could do a From a different movie, but Oh, dude, I hate this.
SPEAKER_03Okay. I I don't know. Friendliness. Okay, friendliness. I was gonna you got a friend in me. Oh, okay. I should've got that. Yeah. Dang it, because I I literally I thought it was so funny. I'm just like the fact that they put tolerant, just like, oh, we just tolerate these kids. I thought you were gonna ask that.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah. Dang it.
SPEAKER_03All right, so three. I mean three out of five. You did better than the last couple. Yeah, we're we're back to my best three.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we're back to the standard. Yes. Rotten tomatoes out of a hundred critics score.
SPEAKER_03I thought it was good, but people might have said it was too short. A lot of people didn't watch it. Let's go 22.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so the first movie got a 70 from critics, the second got a 29, the third got 17, fourth got 25, and the fifth got a 15. Uh-huh. This one, 59.
SPEAKER_03Wow. Good.
SPEAKER_02Critics love it.
SPEAKER_03Okay, good, good, good.
SPEAKER_02And then audience score.
SPEAKER_03Audience. 66.
SPEAKER_02So part one, sixty, part two, forty-nine, part three, forty-two, part four, fifty-two, part five, twenty-six, and then part six, fifty-four.
SPEAKER_03Beautiful. Yeah. So you're out of your damn mind.
SPEAKER_02It's the high the highest praise for the franchise since the first. Yes. So yeah.
SPEAKER_03Like I said, I mean I didn't think I'd like it this much because six is far down a series, and usually stuff goes really downhill, but this made a comeback.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm sad that it didn't make as much money as the other ones did.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But like I said, like the saucer during that time was starting to die down, so yeah. Yeah. So, um, movie's redone. They're all all Muppets. One's human. Which one's human?
SPEAKER_03Uh that's man. These I feel like these get harder and harder when you have like good characters.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Seeing how bullheaded the sheriff was, I'd keep him the human. Seeing him interact with Mavots would be in that.
SPEAKER_02That would be hilarious. Yeah. I pick Jason. Okay. Just because I want to see him just like rip apart like fluff everywhere.
SPEAKER_03Slam one against the tree and one in the bathroom.
SPEAKER_02Or when um Paula gets like eviscerated in the cabin, open up to see like just red, like fluff everywhere.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like, huh, okay. And all the kids are little Muppets too.
SPEAKER_03I know, like, when when he first comes out of the grave and uh is just staring at Tommy, like him just staring at Kermit or Miss Piggy. Oh yeah. Just to stare down would be all right, yeah.
SPEAKER_02It doesn't light, doesn't light. Alright, well, um, that's all you have we have time for today. Thank you, Vinny, for continuing on with part six. We are now halfway done. We got six more movies to go. Yes, I I've really enjoyed it. I'm glad. I'm glad to have created a new uh follower. Yes, honestly, yeah. And then anything you want to say before we go?
SPEAKER_03Um, I feel like I mean I feel like most people that listen to your podcasts have probably watched Friday the 13th. Yeah. But if you haven't, I would go through them. Some of them are hard to watch, and some are really entertaining, really good, especially for the 80s. So I'd say muscle through it if you haven't watched them because they're actually very good.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah. Yeah, so the next one's part seven, which actually didn't get a lot of praise, but for me it's actually one of my favorites. Yeah. But I think it was also one of the early ones I watched when I was younger, other than four, so that might be why.
SPEAKER_03But like sentimental value.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. We'll see what you think about it next week in uh or next time we I post it.
SPEAKER_03Oh wait, real quick though, real quick. Did you see that they're re-releasing cars in theaters in September?
SPEAKER_02Cars? Yes. Oh Lord. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Why? Because it's this year's the 20th anniversary.
SPEAKER_02Wow.
SPEAKER_03Yes. Which I'm happy about. You know me, because like Friday the 13th was your first memory. Yeah. Mine was seeing Cars of My Dad. Oh, nice. When I was three. It's like that was when I was a toddler. I snapped into consciousness, and that was my first memory was watching that in theater, so I've always loved it.
SPEAKER_02You need to go and go see it.
SPEAKER_03Probably, yeah. I think you should come see it too. I'm I think like seeing it at this age now. I actually loved watching it again. Like a few weeks ago, I watched it. Yeah. It's I'm like, dang, it it's one of the better Pixar. Like I loved it.
SPEAKER_02I like I liked the first one. The second one was terrible.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I I wouldn't re-watch any of the other ones without the first.
SPEAKER_02I never saw the third one actually, because the second one's so bad I'm like, I can't keep doing this.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. They did it to sell more toys.
SPEAKER_02When I did um I was at Victory for a while and we did a VBS.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And it was always cars themed. So I was the tech guy. Yeah. So I was up in the up on the in the crow's nest with all the sound stuff around and had to keep playing uh life as a highway. Yeah, playing clips from the movie and stuff like that. It was good. Yeah. So do you think uh Lightning McQueen, uh, do you think he has car insurance or life insurance?
SPEAKER_03Huh. Car insurance.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_03And they make jokes about cars in the movie. Like, oh, my husband was sexy for a two-cylinder. Like that's a line in the movie. Yeah. It's like it's that's what I'm saying. Like, watch it at this age you are now, you actually realize like it was a really good movie.
SPEAKER_02Dang. I saw like the dark theory about that. That's uh cars became sentient and they killed all their owners.
SPEAKER_04I mean, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Guess that's why there's no humans around.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Like, hmm. Yeah, but then there are there are kid cars too.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So where do they come from? Exactly. A little bit carburetor there. Okay, well, uh, thank you all for listening to this uh episode on cars. And uh until next time. Remember, stay fresh. Stay fresh. Thank you.
