Hello, everybody. This is Deacon Louis Zemlick here in the Diocese of Kalamazoo. We're glad you're with us here today for the 12th Sunday in ordinary time, June 21st, 2026. This is also the feast day today of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, of who I like a lot, priest 1591, because Aloysius is the root name for Louis. How do you like that? Aloysious. Isn't that a great name? And then there is uh Saint John Rigby 1600, who I believe was martyred by the British in 1600. So we got some great scriptures today, as always. And um uh another another great uh podcast out there, not podcast, but is this uh this uh father Hezekiah Carnazzo, I love listening to him. Um Institute of Catholicculture.org. So I don't put a plug in for him. Uh not that my plug means anything, uh, but it's really good. It does a gospel reflection with uh uh a person from uh Catholic Radio, which is very good. And of course there's always EWTN, which is a good uh source, and uh Catholic um Catholic Answers, CatholicAnswers.com, which is also a wonderful source. If you're looking for anything, all things Catholic, good information, good solid information. You know, I followed a lead, and I don't know if I mentioned this uh last week, but I followed a thread and uh was making this opinions about the the the Catholic Church and come to find out this this group of Christians hates Catholics. So it's like you cannot be safe. It is not the internet is not a safe place. So verify your sources and uh be careful what you listen to, you know, and you know, stay away from the fringe crazy parts of things. But I will tell you this though, the liberals are much more, are much nastier than the conservatives, than the than the uh like the Latin mass people, things like that. The Latin mass people are generally uh angels compared to some of the liberals who will, you know, you will you will be fired, you know, all you have to do is be accused one day, and and then the next, and then the very same day you will be fired from your job. So the liberals love to do that. This is very sad, very sad indeed. Very nasty, very nasty, not much justice there, so we have plenty to work on, you know, in this human family, and we're gonna talk about that a little bit too. But let's go right into the scriptures, and of course, this week also on the 24th of this week uh is the Nativity of John the Baptist. So it's only six months till Christmas Eve. You know, we think about that. So it's a beautiful, um, beautiful time of the year, this kind of this halfway point, halfway point of the year. So here we go. Our first reading today is from the book of Jeremiah, uh the prophet Jeremiah, chapter twenty, verses ten through thirteen. Jeremiah said, I hear the whisperings of many, terror on every side. Denounce, let us denounce him, all those who were my friends, are on the watch for any misstep of mine. Perhaps he will be trapped, then we can prevail, and take vengeance on him. But the Lord is with me like a mighty champion. My persecutors will stumble, they will not triumph. In their failure, they will be put to utter shame, to long to lasting unforgettable confusion. O Lord of hosts, you who test the just, who probe mind and heart, let me witness the vengeance you take on them. For to you I have entrusted my cause. Sing to the Lord, sing to the Lord, praise the Lord, for he has rescued the life of the poor from the power of the wicked. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Our response to Orial Psalm is from Psalm 69, verses 8 through 10, and then verse 14, 17, and then 33 through 35. Lord, in your great love, answer me. For the sake I bear insult and shame covers my face. I have become an outcast to my brothers, a stranger to my mother's children, because zeal for your house consumes me, and the insults of those who blaspheme you fall and the insults of those who blaspheme you fall upon me. Lord, in your great love answer me. I pray to you, O Lord, for the time of your favor, O God, and your great kindness answer me. With your constant help, answer me, O Lord, for bountless is your kindness, and your great mercy turn towards me. Lord, in your great love, answer me. See you lowly ones and be glad. You who seek God, may your hearts revive, for the Lord hears the poor, and his own who are in bonds, he spurns not. Let the heavens and the earth praise him, the seas and whatever moves in them. Lord, in your great love answer me. Our second reading is from the book of Romans, chapter five, verses twelve through fifteen. Brothers and sisters, through one man sin entered the world, and through sin death, and thus came and thus death came to all men, inasmuch as all sinned, for up to the time of the law sin was in the world, though sin is not accounted when there is no law, but death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin after the pattern of the trespass of Adam, who is the type of the one who is to come? But the gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one many died, how much more did the grace of God and the gracious gift of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow for the many? The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. And our gospel reading today is the Gospel of Matthew chapter ten, verses twenty six through thirty-three. A reading of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew. Glory to you, O Lord. Jesus said to the twelve, Fear no one. Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known. What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light. What you hear whispered, proclaim on the house tops, and do not be afraid of those who kill the body, but cannot kill the soul. Rather be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body, and Gehenna are not two sparrows sold for a small coin. Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your father's knowledge. Even all the hairs on your head are counted. So do not be afraid. You are worth much you are worth more than many sparrows. Everyone who acknowledges me before others, I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father. But whoever denies me before others, I will deny before my heavenly Father. The gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. May the words of this gospel wipe away our sins. Well, welcome, my brothers and sisters. This is the Epiphany Radio Program, Epiphany Podcast. There's about a hundred Epiphany shows out there, but as I was, you know, and I've been out of the habit of even saying Epiphany, Deacon Louis Zimlik, Epiphany Show, because uh that was a radio, the radio show that we had we called Epiphany, but then I looked on my podcast, all the podcast stuff, and I've got Epiphany out there. So I'm gonna start saying Epiphany again, because life is an awakening, my brothers and sisters, and that's what Epiphany means. And I think it's also fitting too because the the Eastern Church and the Western Church are still separated. We still have our problems, right, in our family, as we do, and everybody has in their families, you know, brothers and sisters, moms and dads, aunts and uncles. We're all just a bunch of snotty little bratty children. We really are. I mean, when it comes right down to it, and even the priests, you know, I mentioned, you know, and I do quite often refer to us as worms, you know, earthworms, you know, the earthworms are crawling out of the ground, the the things that the robins eat, the birds eat, you know, the animals eat for food. We are but worms. And it also comes up in the imitation of Christ a lot, too, where they refer to us little snotty, little bratty, no good for nothing children, um, as worms, because we are. You think about how we treat each other over the most ridiculous, ridiculous. I don't want to use the word stupid or dumb, or I think those are words, no fool is the word not to use. Forgive me, Lord. But you know, God tells us call no person a fool, right? And so I'm not calling anybody a fool. But I think it's funny that the Lord calls tells us not to do that. And I think there's a few places in scripture where he calls us that. I think, yeah, I think he calls the rich man that was going to build the barns. I think he says to him, You fool, tonight your life will be demanded of you. And you're making the wrong choices. Anyway, I'm bringing this up because it's relevant. It's relevant to our lives. It's relative, see, it's relative to our lives because we all have relatives, at least most of us do, right? So it's very interesting that um we have lots to work on and that we are we are but worms. You know, a righteous person is false seven times a day. But the question is, are we willing to repent? And if we're not willing to repent and we're going to die in our sin, we're going to come before Christ with that sin on us. That is not good. So repentance is the right thing to do. Even if you just start in your heart today to ask God, dear Jesus, please help me. I don't care what religion you are, any religion, no religion, just say those words. Dear Jesus, open up my heart. Put me on the path to head into the church, the Catholic Church, the original church, help me. Help the East and the West to join together, to be at peace. Because I believe, my brothers and sisters, and correct me, you know, whatever. But I believe once the Eastern Church and the Western Church comes together, once we come together, I think there is a greater chance for there to be real peace in the world. I think there's always going to be conflict, right? You know, we're always going to have the poor with us, we're always going to have criminals with us. These are all people for us to work on and for us to pray for and to try to get them to see the light, literally. Okay. Now I'm going into the scriptures, okay? And I might get off track. So read the God, read the um, read the podcast, the listing on the podcast of all the catechism teachings, and you will have the rock hard uh foundation of the Catholic Church and its teachings and its beautiful teachings, especially about the Blessed Virgin Mary and how important she is. And I met when I said last week that if the United States were consecrated to the sacred heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, things would be better. A lot better. But we're afraid to do that. And I said that in my preaching last week because people are afraid to pray the rosary. You know, our Protestant brothers and sisters, you know, they run from the Blessed Mother like a bunch of little children.

SPEAKER_00

Oh no, we can't look at her. Oh, time we can look at her. It's Christmas time. Okay, look, oh no, Jesus might think I'm worshiping his mom.

SPEAKER_01

It's ridiculous. It's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard in my life. And you guys believe that dribble that comes out of these uh out of these uh seminaries, these Protestant seminaries, Bible church seminaries, about disliking or even hating the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Get with it. Wake up. Are you in a cult? Are you in a in a in a you know the moonie cult or something? Some kind of craziness? We follow Jesus, we worship Jesus. Actually, I said this to somebody this week. They said something to me, you know, like, well, I don't like you because you said this in a meeting. And I said, Well, I'll tell you right now, I never said that. I never said that. So what do you say now? I I heard you say it. There's nothing I can do. You know what that's called? That's called insanity. When someone does that to you, says to you that you said something and you deny it and say, I did not say that, I know I didn't say that, and they insist, walk away. Walk away, because you're dealing with an insane person. Okay, here we go. Jeremiah. We're halfway through. That didn't take long. It's a painless, painless process. Elijah, the prophets, and the conversion of heart in their one-to-one encounters with God, the prophets, of course, talking about Jeremiah here, also talking about Elijah, all the prophets, in their strength for their mission. Their prayers is not flight from this unfaithful world, but rather attentiveness to the word of God. At times their prayers is an argument or a complaint, but it is always an intercession. Hear that? Hear that, my Protestant brothers and sisters? We intercede, we pray for one another. We ask the great saints, greatest saint of all, blessed Virgin Mary, to help us, to pray for us. At times their prayer isn't argument or complaint, but it's always an intercession that awaits and prepares for the intervention of the Savior God, the Lord of history. Okay, that comes from Amos 7, uh, Isaiah 6, Jeremiah 1, Jeremiah 15, Jeremiah 20, which is today. Beautiful. Okay, Jesus and the Temple. This is, and that's the only listening. So that's 2584 of the Catechism, and that's in the section on prayer, the fourth section of the Catechism on Prayer. And I tell you, my brothers and sisters, the great the second greatest book to the Holy Bible, and I mean the Holy Bible, the Catholic Bible, with all the books in it, all the Old Testament books, is the Catechism of the Catholic Church. This is in regards to Psalm 69, Jesus and the temple. Jesus went up to the temple as a privileged place of encounter with God for him. The temple was the dwelling of his father, a house of prayer. It was it was he was angered at the outer court had become a place of commerce, business. There's a lot of business churches out there, aren't there? Yeah. Out of super mega churches with mega money and the mega profits coming in for the mega airplanes. He drove merchants out of it because of his jealous love for the Father. You shall not make my father's house a house of trade. His disciples remembered that it was written, zeal for your house will consume me. After the resurrection, his apostles retained the reverence for the temple. And we should as well. Go to Mass. Go to Mass, go to Mass, go to Mass. Worship Jesus, receive Jesus in the Holy Sacrament to the Eucharist, original sin. Here we go. This is in our epistle from Romans 5. Original sin, an essential truth of the faith. Man's first sin, 400 of the catechism. The consequences of Adam's sin on humanity. All men, all men and women, all peoples, all humans are implicated in Adam's sin. St. Paul affirms by one man's disobedience, many, that is, all, were made sinners. Sin came into the world through one man's death and through sin. And so death spread to all, because all have sinned. The apostle contrasts the universality of sin and the death, and the universality of salvation in Christ. Then the one man's trespass led to condemnation for all. So one man's act of righteousness, Jesus, leads to acquittal and life for all. Beautiful. For the sake of God made him to be sin. The agony at Gethsemane 612 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. I'm moving right along so we can get to the gospel. Okay, here we go. Romans again, dying in Christ Jesus. Death is the consequence of sin. 100808 of the Catechism. Death the consequence of sin. The Church's magisterium, the authentic interpreter and affirmations of scripture and tradition, teaches that death entered the world on account of man's sin. Even though man's nature is mortal, God has destined him not to die. Death was therefore contrary to the plans of God, the Creator, and entered into the world as a consequence of sin, bodily death from which man would have been immune if he had not sinned, is thus the last enemy of man left to be conquered. Sin and death. Sin and death. Death and sin. Right? Follow Jesus. Follow Jesus, follow Jesus. Okay, our gospel today. And uh you can go to deaconlouisemblick.com, find us on any podcast platform, um, any of the major podcast platforms. And uh share us with a share us with a friend, share us with an enemy, share us with uh someone who you don't get along with. Listen to it yourself. Love someone because this is all about love, my brothers and sisters. We talked about love a lot last week, and you know, praying for these people who make you mad. I got people, I got people, I got family, you know, saying nasty things to me. I got people who don't like me. It's sad. I don't like it. Hurts my feelings, makes me want to cry. But I don't. Maybe I'll cry later, but maybe not. Okay, here we go. Catechism of the Catholic Church, number 14. The profession of faith. Of course, we do this at church at Holy Mass every week. We do this profession. We do these professions, we profess our faith before, during, while we're worshiping Jesus Christ, the Savior of the universe. The profession of Of faith. Those who belong to Christ through faith and baptism must confess their baptismal faith before men. First, therefore, the catechism expounds on revelation by which God addresses and gives himself to man and woman and the faith by which man responds to God. The profession of faith summarizes the gifts that God gives man and woman. As when I say man, it's man and woman children, it's everyone, okay? And the author of all that is good. As redeemer and sanctifier, it develops these in three chapters of our baptismal faith in the one God, the Almighty Father, the Creator, His Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, and the Holy Spirit, the sanctifier in the Holy Church. So beautiful. And that's um that's all that. And that's John 17, 1 Timothy, Acts 4, and of course Matthew 10 and Romans 10. Profession of faith. God carries out his plan of divine providence. This is all in regards to today's gospel. 363 of the catechism, body and soul, but truly one. Hell, 1034 of the catechism. Jesus Austin speaks of Gehenna, the unquenchable fire, faith, the disciples of Christ, 1816 of the catechism. The disciples of Christ must not only keep the faith and live it, but also profess it. Profess it in the creed. And then finally, the name of the Lord is holy. 2145 of the Catechism. The faithful should bear witness to the Lord's name by confessing the faith without giving way to fear. Preaching, preaching, and catechizing should be permeated with adoration and respect for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 10 and 1 Timothy 12. So, my brothers and sisters, I tell you, as we go forward this week, that's a lot. You know, it's kind of the lightning round, so to speak, of the uh scriptures for this weekend. But go to Mass. Go to Mass. Enter into the mystery of holy mass. Listening to the script. Say the prayers. Say the prayers. Repeat the prayers. If you haven't been in church in a while, usually they'll have a little guide. Repeat the prayers. Say the profession of faith. Do the curiae. Do the Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy. Curia liaison. Christia liaison. Kurier liaison. That's what I always do because that's Greek. That's Greek, my brothers and sisters. The first language, you know, besides Aramaic that they started out with, the next language they started using in the hundreds and two hundreds was Greek. See? They started using Greek in the Mass. And then it's then started switching over to Latin. But we think about that, and uh Pope Benedict talked about that, using the old languages, Latin and Greek. These old languages tie us back to our brothers and sisters, tie us back to Jesus. Tie us back to Jesus at the Last Supper. See? Tie us back to the Blessed Mother. Tie us back to the Apostles. Tie us back to the communion of saints. Tie us back to that ancient worship. See? That ancient worship. So get off the couch. Do something supernatural. Do something supernatural in your life. Something that you can't explain. Yeah, I go to church. Yeah, I go there. Yeah, I don't understand it. Half of it I don't understand. But I go because I want to learn. Because I'm exposing myself to the God of the universe who's running this place. Instead of having the fear of every stinking weather report that comes out or every single uh ache or pain that you have, you think, oh my gosh, what's it? Oh, what's that? What's this? What's that? What am I gonna do? Baby, baby, baby, cry, cry, cry. No, go to mass, confess your sins, be an adult, be a grown-up. Be a grown-up. Stop blaming people for your woes and stop blaming politicians or wishing the politicians, oh, please give me free cell phone service. Please give me a free apartment. Please send me another thousand dollars a month. That's not what life is about. Life is about love, loving God, and learning how to be a sacrifice of yourself, of your time, of your talent, of your treasure, that you give to God, you give to the other, you give to your spouse, you give to your children. Oh, by the way, it is Father's Day. Don't forget your dad, right? You know, my grandfather was not a great guy, but God help him. Dear Jesus, please forgive my grandfather John. But my dad was a great man. My mom was a great lady. My brothers are good guys, they're not perfect. No one's perfect. Everyone has faults, everyone has difficulties, but we're called to love them anyway. We can still love them, but to hate them is no good. It is not acceptable for us to hate anyone. Hate sin, okay, but not a person. You never know what they've been through. You never know what their life has been like. You never know what trials, what trauma they have been through. Avoid doing that. So, my brothers and sisters, on this Father's Day, every day's Father's Day, every day's Mother's Day, every day's grandparents' day. Pray for our Holy Father. Pray for our bishop, Bishop Losey, and Bishop Bradley. If Bishop Bradley's still around too, you know, he's retired, but pray for him. Continue to pray for him. Pray for the clergy. Pray for the clergy that are from other countries who come here to minister to us and don't complain about that you don't understand this. I don't understand, I don't understand, I don't understand. Just stop it and pray. And maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe next time, or maybe you say to a young person, you see a young man, or you see a young lady, you know, consider the religious life. And for that young man, consider the the life of a priest. But the church decides. You don't decide. Doesn't work that way. Doesn't work that way in the Catholic Church. And I thank God that it doesn't. God chooses, God picks who He wants to have in His intercircle of leadership. See. So love each other. It's Father's Day, and um, I know that's a big one. So may Almighty God bless you all. Father, Son, Holy Spirit, amen. God bless you all. We love you. Happy Father's Day.
