Speaker 1:

How, how we doing everybody, and welcome to Wisconsin Sports on the go with Trage. I'm your host, trage. It is Wednesday, a fantastic Wednesday here in the great state of Wisconsin, and we can say that for the first time in a while now, because we had a couple of wins last night, a couple of big wins coming on the Wisconsin sports front, so we got to be talking about those games today. Lots to get into A great Wednesday. Today.

Speaker 1:

The weather has been getting a lot better here in the state of Wisconsin. If you're in the state of Wisconsin, you know it, you know it well. It's like that solar eclipse just brought in this fantastic weather. Yesterday. Sun started popping out and it was warm. It was nice. I was working, I was down to the long sleeve t-shirt on. It was fantastic, it was just fantastic, and it looks like the weather is going to remain the same. They're talking 70s come this weekend here. So nothing better, nothing better than some warm weather here in Wisconsin. We've been waiting for it, trust me, we've been waiting for it. We got a little bit. Then it snowed again and it's like when is it going to go? Well, here it is. We're warming up here in the state of Wisconsin, and well, so are some of the sports. So we're going to get into them all today.

Speaker 1:

Here I want to first. First I want to jump into the Brewers. Let I want to first. First I want to jump into the Brewers. Let's look at that Brewers game from yesterday. There the Brewers win that one 9-5 over the Cincinnati Reds. It's almost like a flip the script from game one of the series game to Brewers in this one Got out to the big lead and then the Reds were the team that was trying to battle back and I mean they made it a ballgame. I got to say this Reds team, just like we've said about the Brewers this season here, as this team battles, this team doesn't really feel like they're out of games. You know, like the Brewers yesterday they were down what? 8-0 at one point there and they battled back. Same with this Reds team they're down 5. I think they're down eight to one. Yeah, they're down eight to one, going into the seventh there, and then they were able to bounce in a couple of two run inning there's in the seventh and eighth and that's what made this thing close there. Nine to five there, the Brewers were able to pull this one out. But I mean just the way that this Reds team battled back. It's just like man. These two teams are young, they're hungry and man can they hit the baseball around. So fantastic stuff there. 9-5 was the final.

Speaker 1:

In that one Brewers out hit the Reds in that one 13-10. An error piece on both teams there. In that one For the Brewers I believe it was on Adamamas, a throwing air, yes, uh, throwing air on adamas in that one. That was the the only air for the brewers. So definitely a big step up from yesterday there where the defense struggled for the brewers. Defense held true in this game here against the reds, hitting wise for the brewers. We saw oliver dunn get to start there. He struggled in the lead off spot in this one. So hopefully you know he got a little time off there at the end of the game. Hopefully you know things start to straighten out for Oliver Dunn.

Speaker 1:

Contreras in that two-hole he was one for four. Yellich two for four on the game there with three RBIs and a walk in this one. Willie Adamas one for five in this one. Willie Adamas, one for five in this one. Bowers one for five. Hoskins one for four. Sal Freling this guy is starting to heat up.

Speaker 1:

For us folks here, it's the move to the bottom of the order. I'm telling you we had him at the top, he was struggling to start the year. We move this guy down. Three for four, three singles, an RBI and two runs scored on the game there. Fantastic stuff out of sale. Terang was one for five in the Blake Perkins. Three for five, three singles, three RBIs, two runs scored on the game there for Perkins. Bottom of the order for the Brewers in this game. Here you're talking about four RBIs just in the bottom. Three guys in the order there with Frelick, terang and Perkins, with Frelick and Perkins knocking in some runs there. So good stuff there. Brewers hitting the baseball in this one.

Speaker 1:

Looking at the pitching staff and this is where also, I mean some fantastic stuff there Joe Ross this is a guy he hadn't pitched I believe the stat was he hadn't pitched into the seventh inning since, like 2021 in the bigs, and he goes six and a third in this one. Five hits, 200 runs, three runs on the game there, one walk and seven strikeouts on the game for joe ross. A fantastic outing for joe ross in this one. A bit. I mean that was huge. That was huge, because this bullpen for the brewers we talked about it early on this year and I said it there was that they were going to need these guys to go a little bit longer, not just Freddie, that was the thing is Freddie was getting them six, six innings there and that's fine and dandy. But what about the other four guys? Right, the other four guys can't go four to five innings a piece there every single night because then the bullpen is going to get taxed, right, and we're going to be calling up guys left and right trying to uh, trying to make up for the lack of production there in the starting rotation. So it was great to see joe ross be able to extend this one.

Speaker 1:

Get into that. I mean, could you have left them in there? Yeah, I would say you could have left joe ross in the ball game there, but you know dictating times, he hadn't pitched a lot this year. So I mean one one start on the year before this, one year and it wasn't a very long outing for joe. So I mean he had, I believe, 87 pitches. You could have left him in there in that seventh. But all in in all, I mean I thought it was the right move to pull him out of there. You had Paguero, you had Pajams, you had Uribe, all locked and loaded. Bryce Wilson was most likely ready to go there and others in that bullpen. So it's like, okay, you know, let's get him out of there, let's get in one of our other guys here and see what can happen.

Speaker 1:

We had Elvis Puguero come in for Joe Ross there Inning and a third, two earned runs on four hits in that one. Two strikeouts. Not a bad outing out of Puguero, not fantastic. But he hadn't pitched since last Friday there, so coming in a little bit cold, I guess you could say Maybe that had a little bit to do with it. I'm not, you know, that's up in the air kind of thing there, but that could have something to do with it there. So Poguero goes inning in a third two earned runs and four hits.

Speaker 1:

Hudson then came in for Poguero in a third of an inning there. He had zeros across the board. Good stuff out of Hudson. And then we saw Abner Yaribe come in for that ninth inning In an inning pitch. He gave up one hit, three strikeouts and one walk in that inning. I mean they put the pressure on him In that inning. No outs. Second and third, with nobody out after that pass ball and it was looking like we had Pyeumps who was warming up in the bullpen in a hurry. It was like I don't know if Abner's going to be able to get out of this one. And I mean't know if Abner is going to be able to get out of this one. And I mean Abner Ribe pitched fantastic.

Speaker 1:

I thought that that performance by Abner showed me so much more than a 1-2-3 inning, because in a 1-2-3 inning there wasn't really that pressure right, and for a rookie pitcher, the biggest thing I want to see out of him is how does, especially in the later innings, right, because there's a chance that you could get this guy, say the Brewers are in a 3-1, 3-2 game, right, just like this one, 9-5, still not. I mean the Reds were never out of it and you have, say, elvis Figueroa in there. Now Abner's got to come in there with, say, bases loaded, nobody out. How does he react to that situation? In this case he's the guy who put those two on. And the way I mean Abner's not a massive strikeout guy, he's got dominant stuff. I mean we see a sinker. That thing is nasty and I mean he throws 100 miles per hour, he touches triple digits. So you would think this guy big strikeout guy. He's not. He's not a huge strikeout guy, right, relies a lot on the ground ball and in this outing here, three strikeouts in a huge spot, middle of the order, coming up right. He had to work through the middle of this order here I believe three, four and five, with runners on first and second there, india and steven are second and third there with nobody out. He's working through the three, four, five hitters in this order and I mean just, he did a fantastic job, fantastic job shutting the door, getting it done with there, and that was. That was great stuff, great stuff out of abner ebay. So I mean we can praise him all day long. The guy has pitched abner's pitched fantastic for the Brewers this season, especially being young and being thrown into the situation that he has been right we were going into this year we had Devin Williams. That was the closer. Devin Williams was the closer on this team and that's how it was going to be. And just like that, devin Williams is out. Now we have to rely on somebody else and it was the young guy we tossed in, abner Uribe right off the bat got two massive saves for the Brewers there early on against that Mets and now coming in here against the Reds another fantastic performance. So I mean just good stuff out of the Brewers all the way around there in this game against the Reds.

Speaker 1:

I love the ability that the Brewers have right now, not to. I mean they look, you, look at this game against the Reds. I love the ability that the Brewers have right now, not to. I mean you look at this game here. They jumped out early right Three nothing lead there in the third. And lots of times in years past we've seen this Brewers team, or the Brewers teams of the past there, jump out to these early leads and it's like, okay, now it's survival mode, right, they get out to these early leads, but they like, okay, now it's survival mode, right, they get out to these early leads, but they don't keep the pressure, they don't keep putting guys on, they don't keep producing runs throughout the game.

Speaker 1:

It's like early on, brewers offense. Late in the game it's like how can my bullpen save me? Once again, right, we only have a one run lead. You know, lots of times it was like two nothing. You know late in there, which puts a lot more pressure on especially. I mean you look at this game, the Brewers starting pitching will. I mean you look at a guy like Joe Russ. It's a lot more pressure to come and pitch games where the Brewers can't score you runs.

Speaker 1:

I mean look at Corbin Burns last year with the Brewers. How many games can you remember? And I remember a lot where the Brewers would give him one run or two runs. So Burns had to be fantastic, otherwise the odds are he's probably going to lose that game. That's where the big difference is for me this year versus last year with this Brewers team the ability to produce runs, not just spotty throughout games there or well, not just spotty in areas right Early on or late in the game. They finally figured out. No, this is a Brewers team that collectively puts pressure on teams throughout ball games and I think that if they continue that throughout the season, that's going to be great stuff.

Speaker 1:

Because you look at the Reds, they're just like the Brewers. They get guys on and a majority of that lineup is looking like they can steal a base right and that puts a ton of pressure on you. Look at the Brewers against this Reds team. How much pressure having a guy on base like Ellie De La Cruz is, or even a couple of the other guys Spencer Steer gets out and he runs a little bit there. Jonathan India, guys on this team that just get out there and they run and they're not worried about it. And that's the thing I see with the Brewers right now Terang, frelick, churro, jelich, it doesn't matter, these guys are all looking to swipe second base. Jake Bowers I mean you have guys on this team, one through nine and well, askins Contreras I don't know if they're stealing many bags out there, but you have a lineup with so many guys that are able to steal bags and put pressure on pitchers out there that that is going to be a big help to this Brewers team.

Speaker 1:

Also, the small ball game. I think Perkins one of his hits early on I was I was on the road yet on my way home from work when I was listening to it a little bit there but I believe that one of Perkins hits was a bunt single there early on and I love that. I love the ability that these Brewers team isn't afraid. They aren't afraid to bunt. That's what I love. And in situations like that, perkins not a, I mean, he had well in this game here three for five, but not a overly dominant hitter, right, and he steps into the box and he bunts her down. The third baseline gets first base. That puts pressure on teams now. Now you just had a guy bunt his way on. Now he's a speed threat at first base who can steal second on you and you have to worry about even the next guy coming up and bunting him over, right? I love that. I love that about this Brewers team. So good stuff there with this Brewers team, especially looking at this game here against the Reds. I mean just a little more. I just want to keep talking about the Brewers here because I love what I'm seeing so far.

Speaker 1:

And my next question and this is one that I don't know how you know, I've been this guy's hater. I've been this guy's hater, you know, just simply because the down years were the thing that really kicked me off the bandwagon, off the bus, right, and that is I'm talking about Christian Yelich here. Is Christian Yelich back? Is he back? Are we seeing the Christian Yelich that we saw in 2018? Are we seeing the guy we saw in 2019? Is this a resemblance of that guy? Are we seeing the guy we saw in 2019? Is this a resemblance of that guy? The way that it's starting right now, I don't know how. I would say it's not right.

Speaker 1:

He's hitting right now. He's hitting .324 for this Brewers team. He's got four home runs. I believe he's got nine RBIs on the year already and two steals, two stolen bases on the year and he gets on six. He's scored six times on the year so far. I mean OPS sitting at above 1,000 right now 1.116 right now for Jelic, I believe. He's third and hit, or fourth and third and hits for the Brewers two with 11 on the

Speaker 1:

year. There Is he back. Is this the Christian Yelich that we remember? The power numbers are there right? Four home runs. I mean I think when Austin was on the show here, we did the over-under for home runs. It was around like did we set it for 15? I thought we set it for 15. We did pick the over. So I mean we're set up fine. Right now. He's got to give me 11 home runs through the next 100 and what 150? Some games that are left on the docket yet. I mean it can happen, it can happen yet. But I mean when I'm watching this guy right now I don't know if you if you, I mean I don't know how you would say it Like, is he for sure back? I don't know, but is he hitting at 2020, 2021,

Speaker 1:

100%? And it's a lot of it's confidence with this guy. A lot of it is he got himself in the weight room. I mean you saw him coming out of the off season Again. The guy looked like he was. He's been working and working on his craft and the swing just looks a lot more smooth. Also, the inside pitch he's getting to it. You

Speaker 1:

know. You looked at his numbers even last year. A lot of it was, if guys pitched him inside, he struggled. I mean, if you look at it, he struggled on the inner half. He struggled to pull the baseball. He was a guy who was, I mean, and you can do it, but an inside out kind of guy. And does that work for you? Yeah, I mean, derek Jeter was a great guy for the inside-out hit there. Is it going to work nine times out of ten? I mean you could probably make it work four times out of ten, but it's great to see

Speaker 1:

him. Now he's pulling that inside pitch. That's something that we haven't seen. Is the pull of that inside pitch consistently in a while. It looks like he's on time, it looks like he's getting after it and swinging early and counts too, you know, getting after guys and putting bat on ball. That's something that he did struggle with, too was seeing the baseball, I thought. And now it looks like he's seeing it like a beach ball out there, because the amount of solid hits that he has had is fantastic. I mean, there's nothing more that you can say about this guy than what we've seen, and it's been fantastic stuff there hitting the baseball. So I'll leave that up to you guys out there. I mean your own opinions, perspectives on it is Yich

Speaker 1:

back. I say, and this is I got a phone call earlier. My uncle loves to tell me all about it because he's always, you know, on the christian yellich side of it, and I've been like, oh gosh, here we go again with that kind of stuff, you know. And so every day, every day, now that the brewers, I get a phone call. I get a phone call from him and he's got to tell me all about it. Oh look, he's got three RBIs and he's two for four on the game and I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah, I was like call me when it's about halfway through the season, call me. You know. You know I keep saying call me at this point, call me at this point. And you know I get

Speaker 1:

it. The excitement's back right. The guy that we paid X amount of dollars to to be our number one guy is producing like our number one guy is supposed to, and that's exciting, that's fantastic stuff and hopefully I'm going to tell you this now. I'll eat my own words on the guy if this continues. I will. I am honest to truth. I will eat my own words. I told my uncle I was like I'll say I will announce an apology to you online. I will announce an apology, I will announce it to everybody, my apology, and I will send him a letter personally saying I apologize for anything bad I have said about you over the past three years. I will send it personally. Trust me on that one. So I apologize for anything bad I have said about you over the past three years. I will send it personally. Trust me on that

Speaker 1:

one. So I mean good stuff there with Yelich, all the way around there. I mean one through nine. You can go one through nine on this team right now and they're hitting the baseball and that's what I think you know. It's not just Yelich, but now it's Sal Frelick's hitting the baseball and Terang's been hitting the baseball, jackson Churro, reese, hoskins, contreras has started out the season hot. Not many people look at it because they're like, well, this guy's just been like this right and it's almost like you know you take it for granted a little bit how great he's been. But we've seen a fantastic start to the year at a William Contreras there, so good stuff all the way around there for the Brewers one through

Speaker 1:

nine. I mean the biggest thing that I want to leave the Brewers on for the day is just the way that they answer throughout games. Here they don't sit stagnant. In years past it seemed like this team was so I don't want to say relaxed, but it's like the worry wasn't there. It was like the drive wasn't there, the push, the fun aspect of the game. They seemed slow, they seemed out of it throughout games and all that kind of

Speaker 1:

stuff. And now you look at this team this season here and it's like we're after you. I mean I watched Willie Adamas run up to the batter's box Like the excitement of this team. They're all up on this dugout steps. They're all in there cheering. I mean this team is just fun, that's simple. The simple thing that I can say for the start of this year is just, this team is fun. They're fun to watch, they're exciting, they make the game exciting. They're not boring. You know you get teams that are boring. I mean you look at a team like the Yankees. The Yankees are boring. If you ask me, they're a boring team. But you look at this Brewers team, even teams like the Braves they're a little bit younger yet I mean just exciting baseball. Baltimore Orioles, the Tigers just exciting baseball teams out there. The Reds I mean we're playing right now. We're seeing how exciting. I mean we're not Reds fans, right? I mean if you're listening and you are a Reds fan, you're a Reds fan, but you get it. These are exciting teams and I love that. I love where some of these teams are heading right now, just the excitement around them. It's like they're still in high school or college playing college ball. Just the excitement level is unreal. So love it. Good stuff there with the Brewers. So Brewers get the win there against the Reds on Tuesday night

Speaker 1:

9-5. Wednesday here we're going to see the return of Wade Miley. Wade Miley will be back for the Brewers in that one, starting his first game of the year. He'll face off with Hunter Green for the Reds in that one. Green, nothing and nothing on the year, with a 2.53 ERA heading into this one. So good stuff there. The flamethrower Green going up

Speaker 1:

against. Do we just call him Father Time? I don't know what we'd call Wade Miley. Do we just call him father time? I don't know what we'd call Wade Miley. I'm just going to call this guy the grandpa of the staff. You know what? We're just going to call him the ace of the staff. Wade Miley's the ace. We all know it. We all know secretly deep down. Wade Miley is the ace of this pitching staff. So we're going to call him the ace of the staff going for the Brewers in this one. So good stuff

Speaker 1:

Speaker 1:

Speedways. But with that, let's get into the Bucs. Let's talk Bucs, let's talk Bucs for a second. Bucs got the win against the Celtics last night and you know what I honestly I want to be 100% honest with you guys I did not expect I would say that I did not. I fully went into after talking about the Bucs yesterday. It's like I just mentally prepared to talk about a Bucs fifth loss in a row there and they bounced back big time. I mean, you look at the Bucs in this one first quarter they outscored the Boston Celtics by 16, 37-21. And then in that second quarter they outscored the Boston Celtics by 16, 37-21. And then in that second quarter they outscored them again there by four. In that third quarter that's when the Celtics kind of closed it up. The Celtics outscored the Bucs there 24-15. But the Bucs were able to finish strong and win this one 104-91 in this

Speaker 1:

one. Looking at the Bucs in this one a surprise for me and for many. Heading into this one, we talked about some of the things the Bucs had to change. Well, they changed. They went with Patrick Beverly in that starting rotation and I mean, if you want more effort, you want somebody to get after guys, you want a leader out there on the court, that's Pat Bev, that's your guy right, he's your PJ Tucker of this season. So, pat Bev, he steps into that starting role and man, did he deliver in this one. 20 points for Beverly in this game, four for eight from downtown, eight for 13 from the field in this one. 10 rebounds, one offensive, nine defensive rebounds in this game there and also three assists for him. They were actually plus 12 with Pat Bev on the court there. So good stuff there out of Beverly. In this one. Brooke Lopez goes for 15 for the Bucs Middleton with

Speaker 1:

12. Giannis Antetokounmpo, that was the biggest scare I think Bucs fans have had in a little while right now. Not the scare of we might not win the first game of the playoffs, right, we might not make it out of the first series. No, we're talking a scare. Giannis goes down to the floor with an apparent leg injury. He gets up and with some help and all of a sudden stumbles and it's like, oh boy, what is going on? He's grabbing at his calf area. I mean I lucky, I was glad it wasn't the knee. But then when I see him grabbing down near the lower part of his calf, I was like oh no, he's had Excuse me there. He's had that Achilles issue this year. And I was like, oh no, don't tell me, don't tell me that's his Achilles, because I believe I'm pretty darn sure he was a game time decision for this

Speaker 1:

one. I don't know if it was due to his Achilles, but I mean to see him go down it was like no, don't be his Achilles, come on, tell me it's a cramp. Tell me it's a cramp, tell me we're moving on and everything's good. And he went back to the locker room. He was walking, but gingerly, and he got back to the locker room and it came out of there a left calf strain, just a strain. And you know it's not great news, right. Still, I mean you're looking at a time frame about three days before you're starting to feel a little bit better on that calf. So the return to action for Giannis, I'm not sure on that that's going to be something, barring how serious it was and everything like that recovery time, how long it's going to take. But I mean that was about the best news you could have gotten out of that situation. Besides the fact it could have been a cramp right, that would have been the best news was a cramp, but outside of that, I mean, I'll take I. I will take the fact that it's just a strain and everything's all good on that end of

Speaker 1:

it. So you honest, though, in this game before the injury, seven for 11 in this one, eight rebounds. He had two blocks and 15 points. We saw Damian Lillard go for 12 in this game here, five for 11 from the floor, two for five from downtown and three rebounds for him. Five assists for Dame in this one. Chris Middleton, with seven turnovers on the ballgame. Seven turnovers, that's not good. I'm going to tell you that now. That ain't good. So I don't know what. I was watching the Brewers more than the Bucks there, but seven turnovers. I don't care how it happened. You had seven turnovers. Even if there was I don't know a couple of travels and I mean some unlucky stuff happening, I get some of it, but seven turnovers there's still. I mean, probably a majority of those were just bonehead decisions. So Middleton struggles in this one, especially turning the basketball over there, but nine assists on the game for him there and looking down the line, here we had Bobby coming off the bench. He gave 15. Aj Green at his sixth off the bench there for the Bucs. We got a little Ajax time for a minute, I guess in this one here we got a little Ajax time for a minute, I guess in this one here. And Malik Beasley came off the bench for the Bucs there 25 minutes. He had five points, one for five from downtown in this one, connington with four and that was about it for the

Speaker 1:

Bucs. In this one. Bucs shoot 53% from the field in this one, not a bad day shooting the basketball. And from the three-point line they were 47% 17 for 36 there. Only shot shooting the basketball and from the three-point line they were 47 percent 17 for 36 there. Only shot two free throws on the game there from Giannis, two free throws. That was it. Bucs relied heavily on the three-point ball in this one and well it worked out in their favor 49 rebounds for the Bucs compared to 38 for the Celtics. In this one, bucs held the Celtics to 39 percent from the field and 32% from downtown in this one. Looking at the Celtics, tatum had 22, holiday had 12, derek White had 9, and Brown had 14. No Porzingis in this game. He was out for this Celtics

Speaker 1:

team. Xavier Tillman, a former Michigan State player. I did not know Xavier Tillman was actually playing in the league. That's interesting stuff there. He had six points. Former Wisconsin Badger, played for Virginia and also played for Marquette for a little bit there. Sam Hauser 28 minutes, 3-8 from the field, 2-6 from downtown. Eight points on this ballgame here for Hauser. So good stuff

Speaker 1:

there. Out of the Bucs. In this one, bucs got a win. That's all we could hope for. Right Got a win and now they move on. I believe they will play tonight here. Yeah, tonight they have the Magic, so we're going to shoot Shot in the dark. Shot in the dark tells me no, giannis, for this one we're never, we're never sure on what's going on with Dame, so let's just leave that one as game time decision as of right now. As I'm shooting this, you never know what Dame and Middleton you never know, so we don't know. About the injury report for the Bucs it seems like it's something new every day with this Bucs team. Hopefully, though hopefully, giannis everything checks out further with Giannis and he is good to go here pretty darn soon because the Bucs have Wednesday, friday and then I believe that game will be on Sunday, the last game of the regular season there for the Bucs against the Magic, and then they will have to get ready here for the playoffs. So good stuff there coming out of Milwaukee. On that one, one of my

Speaker 1:

wisconsin. But with that I got to get to my stat of the day, this one. Coming out of the NCAA, we saw a stat the UConn and Purdue National Championship game averaged 14.8 million viewers 14.8. 14.8 million viewers 14.8. That means that the Women's National Championship game had more viewers than the men's for the first time ever. Uconn and Pertua had 14.8. Iowa and South Carolina had

Speaker 1:

18.9. This is the only thing I got to say, and I'm not taking anything away from the women in this one. Did some of the viewership have to do with the late start time for the men's championship game? And it might not. I'm just asking a question to myself. I guess there, because there's nobody talking to me on this one. But I mean, I just that was going to

Speaker 1:

be. Another thing I was going to talk about was what the heck is up with the late start time. I mean you look at the women's national championship, like a three o'clock start on a Sunday, that's fantastic. That's a fantastic time. Now this is a Monday for the men's game, so I'm not saying start at three, there's a lot of people still at work. What I'm saying is like five, 30, even six o'clock, but here in the state of Wisconsin, I mean, what was it? It was an 8-20 start for that game and I just thought that was ridiculous. I really did. I get location has something to do with it there, but move the game up, move the game up. I mean I just thought it was ridiculous an 8-20 start

Speaker 1:

time. And you wonder why viewership might have been down because of that. Because this was a heavyweight battle. I mean you can't say that there was better. You know, last season it was what we had san diego state and gonzaga, or no. San diego state and uh, you got sorry, sorry about that. I just blanked for a second there. San diego state and uh, yukon, you're gonna tell me that there was. I mean that game didn't get a lot of viewership either. But I mean you have a national championship game with two heavyweights in Purdue and UConn. Everybody wants to see how Zach Eadie plays against Klingin in there and I mean it was a fantastic game. I don't know if everybody got able to watch that game. Uconn did win it there by a wide margin. They were able to shut down

Speaker 1:

Edie. I thought that was fantastic stuff and Edie got called for a little bit of stuff in that game, a lot of stuff he should have been called for. You know, I watch it and I was listening to who was it today? Mike Greenberg on Greeny on ESPN radio there and he was talking about the game and he goes. I don't know if anybody hasn't watched big ten basketball or anything like that, but he goes watching zach edie. Officials must just love him and he went on a rant about it. They're basically saying how you know, not calling fouls on him and everything like that, and it's been true all season long. It's just people don't want to believe it. People don't watch for that. They watch for the skill level. The guy's got a boatload of skill of an interior post player. But the problem is is how he gets there right and the I mean last night I saw him actually a call for a travel. I haven't seen somebody call zach eddie for a travel all season long and he got called for one in there. I thought it was great. I thought that's something that should have happened all year long, because how do you? I mean, I guess if he's going to the league, then the travel kind of goes away when you get an NBA. So maybe they're just preparing him for the NBA. They're like you can have five steps, that's fine. I mean just just ridiculous stuff there. But I mean, hey, it was

Speaker 1:

a. I thought it was a good national championship. I just thought UConn was too much. I really did Just like watching the women's national championship game with Iowa and South Carolina. Uconn just has so much talent on that roster, not just in the starting five but coming off the bench too. They have depth and it's just ridiculous when you watch that team and I believe it was Klingin got into foul trouble there and they brought in one of those bench players and he checked Edie out once and from there on it's like Edie wasn't the same player. He got pushed around by a guy who was a little bit smaller and all of a sudden Edie I mean just didn't know what to do and I thought that was a fantastic. I thought that was fantastic. I'd love to see it. Well, I had UConn winning the national championship, so I'd love to see it there. I had UConn winning the national championship, so I'd love to see it

Speaker 1:

there. And I'm always for the downfall of Purdue. Trust me, I'm always for downfall of Purdue. I'm a Badger fan. I'm not one of those guys who says Badgers are out, I'm going to cheer for the Big Ten. No way. I don't like Purdue. I especially don't like Duke. So not Big Ten, but I don't like Duke. So I'm never going to cheer for Duke. But I mean just, I'm not that Big Ten fan who's going to cheer for the next Big Ten team? No, no, no, no way. Unless I picked them in my bracket. I don't care, I'm all for downfall. So good stuff

Speaker 1:

there. Coming out of the men's tournament in yesterday's action. But I thought that was interesting to see the viewership higher in that women's game than it was in the men's. Was it due to the start time? I don't know. I don't know, but we'll never know. We'll never know unless we ask everybody in the world. Why did you not watch the men's national championship game? But with that this has been Wisconsin Sports on the go with Trace. Thank you guys for listening. I hope you enjoy your Wednesday, but until we catch you guys again on the show here on Thursday, tomorrow, deuces, yeah, oh, my Lord, watch me sway.
