As the Wisconsin spring ushers in the crack of bats and the roar of crowds, it's clear that our sports teams are as unpredictable as the weather. This weekend left me with the scent of fresh-cut grass and the thrill of Viterbo University's softball triumphs. However, the real curveballs were thrown off the field. We're talking Conor Esseason's social media shenanigans that have Badgers fans' hearts skipping beats, and the seismic shift of John Calipari's coaching carousel landing him in Arkansas. The sports landscape is morphing before our eyes, and we've got the front row seats to the action.

Swinging into the Brewers' latest clash with the Orioles, it was a spectacle of grit and grand slams. Freddie Peralta's arm was a spectacle, dealing pitches like a Vegas card shark, while the bullpen tag-team of Buckus and Vieira showed that every strike is a storyline. There's a preview of what's to come as we set the scene for an epic showdown with the Padres at American Family Field, where the Brewers aim to serve up a series sweep.

But let's not forget the hardwood, where the Milwaukee Bucks' stumble casts a shadow over playoff dreams. Yet, the play-in games promise redemption, with the Bucks gearing up for a dance with the Pacers. Every possession intensifies the playoff plot, and as we peek ahead, we're all in on the drama, the dunks, and the destiny of Wisconsin's finest. So lace up and join us for the full-court press of Wisconsin sports - no timeouts, no do-overs, just pure, unscripted adrenaline.

Speaker 1:

Thank you how we doing everybody and welcome to wisconsin sports on the go with trage. I'm your host, trage. It is monday coming off, a fantastic weekend here in the great state of Wisconsin. The weather was phenomenal. You cannot beat the weather that we had over this weekend. 70s here in central Wisconsin. I mean 70s is a-okay with me. I'm good with 60. Honestly, I'm good with 50, with the crap that we had going around for a while there. I'm good with 50, but 70, it was fantastic.

Speaker 1:

Got a lot done over the weekend. Got a lot done Yard work, cleaning up the garage, a little bit, putting stuff away. Like I told you guys a couple weeks ago, we moved, we just moved recently, so still kind of getting settled, getting everything moved around. So great weekend to do it there. Got some leaves picked up in the yard. It was a great weekend all the way around. Spent Sunday in lacrosse, watching a little Viterbo softball down there, watching the sister play her senior game down there. So everything fantastic on my end over the weekend there.

Speaker 1:

Wisconsin sports wise. It depends on which area you were looking at, if you're a Badger fan and you're on Instagram and Instagram or Twitter and you saw Conor Asijian posting pictures left and right telling you that I might go to Maryland, I might go to South Carolina. I don't know where I'm going to go yet. You might have been like, ah, this is not my favorite time right now. This isn't my favorite time Because I mean, there might be Badger fans out there who did not really enjoy Conor Esseason, but that's far and few between, because there was a lot of people who loved Conor Esseason in Madison there, and to see him I saw I was looking through some of the comments on there. I just wanted to see, you know, out of the Badger players that were left, right, you had, I mean, chucky and Steven Crowell and the rest of those guys and they all have social media and everything like that, and I want to see if any of them were in on the comments or anything like that. And I saw Chucky Hepburn gave an emoji and it was like not a frowned face but like a tilted up line. I don't know. It's like the are you kidding me? Like you know one of those kind of faces. They're like the upset kind of face. And they're like the upset kind of face and I mean that's where all badger. When we said that was the one with maryland, the picture you saw there and uh, that was all uh badger fans. When they saw that it was like, hey, I don't know how I feel about this one.

Speaker 1:

I really don't want to see you in maryland, I don't want to see you in michigan and I really don't want to see you in indiana, because indiana has some good stuff going on there right now. They, they, I mean they're putting together a decent roster from what I can see as of right now. Same, I mean Michigan they're going to have a head coaching change, right, dusty Mays coming in, but they're going to have pieces probably coming in from Florida Atlantic. I know the big man down there Goldstein, I think, believe is his name there he's looking to transfer right now. That might be his landing spot is in Michigan and then I know one of their guards too was looking at transferring. So Michigan might bolster up a little bit. Same with Indiana, maryland, I mean we see they're active on the trail right now of Connery season. Who knows where else they're looking right now and I saw you also, like I said, visited South Carolina there did Conner a season, so it's going to be interesting to see where they end up.

Speaker 1:

Truthfully to me, I do see AJ Storr coming back to college. I don't know where AJ Storr ends up. I don't. I mean, would he end up at Kentucky? Now that John Cale Perry's gone, but the assistants are still there that once had recruited him, maybe he ends up at Kentucky. Maybe AJ Storr goes to Arkansas. Right, we have John Calipari. The room is empty. Right there's one guy left on Arkansas's basketball team. Could you see a guy like AJ Storr going to Kentucky? And now let's build around Storr. It's definitely going to be. You know, calipari has got his work cut out for him.

Speaker 1:

That was another interesting thing coming out of last week there John Cal Perry going to Arkansas. That is going to be interesting and with one guy on the roster as of right now. So rebuilding that baby from the ground up and I mean he's got time, right, he's got time. The portal is full, so it's not like you can't add pieces there. But John Cal Perry is not a big portal guy. We've seen this in the past. He's not a big portal guy. So how does he do in his first season having to dip into that portal and see what he can grab? Or does he get recruits to flip? I mean, what is what is going to happen with John Cale Perry at Arkansas? Is going to be something to see there and if he can turn that pro, how long it takes. I mean, does he have that team competitive this year? Is it gonna be a year or two? What is gonna happen there? That's gonna be something crazy to watch if you are a college basketball fan.

Speaker 1:

But outside of the connor season stuff, outside of the badger stuff, we had some good and some bad coming out of the weekend there. I guess bad if you want to look at it that way. We had the Brewers taking two or three from Baltimore. That was fantastic. Right Another series win. Haven't lost a series yet this year. Knock on some wood, don't want to jinx it there. You know they played fantastic ball. Right now we're going to get into that a little bit.

Speaker 1:

The weekend series recap that. And then also the Bucs. We had the Bucs in action. They didn't fare so great, lost their last two of the year there, the first one on Friday and then against OKC. And then they lost that game yesterday to the Magic. And well, the Knicks won. That put the Knicks up there in that two spot. So the Bucs will move down to the three.

Speaker 1:

So we're going to talk about that a little bit today. We're going to get into the Brewers. So right away I want to jump into the Brewers. We got to talk about the good before the bad, right, we got to get into the good first. The good was the Milwaukee Brewers. They won the series against the Baltimore Orioles. Nothing better than that, nothing better than going going to a very good this is a good Baltimore Orioles team and going to their place, going on the road and winning two of three. And I mean the way that they won those first two games. I mean you look at Friday night's game. We'll talk about that game first here. 11 to one was the final score. Brewers jumped out to a three nothing lead early and then they added on four to nothing there four to one and and then two, three spots between the fifth and the sixth inning there. That really I mean just ballooned this lead and then it was just too much. I mean the Brewers all the way around played fantastic.

Speaker 1:

Looking at the lineup for the Brewers, yelich did get injured in this game, started out the game, and the worst part is that he's hitting right. The worst part is that he's hitting. If he, the worst part is that he's hitting. If he wasn't hitting and he got hurt, it's like okay, you know like still sucks but it's like ah, not so bad. But this is a guy who was hitting 333 when he had the back problems there. He had a hit early on in this game and then exited there in the third inning. I believe some back lower back discomfort there. So they're waiting till the Padres series. They're going to test it out, then see how he's feeling. If he's still not feeling it, then we're going to look at an IL stint for Christian Yelich. I would imagine only the 10 day IL there. But I don't know. I don't know what's going to happen in that sense there.

Speaker 1:

So we got in this game here. I mean Churro, jackson. Churro did struggle 0 for 6 3ks in this one. Not Not a great game out of Jackson. True, in the leadoff spot, contreras continues to hit the ball 1-4 in this game. Two runs scored, two RBIs, one walk Fantastic game. He's got that average at the end of this one at .354. Good stuff out of

Speaker 1:

Contreras. Blake Perkins comes in for Yelich 1-3. Night there, perkins is just lighting the baseball up. We're going to get into that by the game here, how well Perkins is hitting. But Perkins, in this one, one for three Adamas, a good game out of Willie Adamas. There were three for five in this

Speaker 1:

one. Three runs, scored three RBIs in this game here and well, tried to start a brawl right, tried to start a brawl there against this Orioles team, and I don't know what this is all I could think. Right, I'm sitting there and I'm watching and they didn't have the camera on Willie. Right then they actually had it towards the dugout and Willie Adamas is coming up to bat. So I don't think anything, right, I don't think anything of what's going to happen. And all of a sudden, you see, I believe it was Contreras had just gotten back to the dugout and he all of a sudden just takes off, bolting out of the dugout. I'm like what is going on right now? You know, something's happening, like something on the field, some kind of brawl, whatever, some kind of argument, whatever it is. But when the camera wasn't on Willie, I had no idea it was Willie Adamas, to be honest with you. And then all of a sudden they flipped the camera and it's Willie Adamas and James McCann. They're face-to-face and I'm like what could have been said, because Willie Adamas, we know it, we know it as Brewer

Speaker 1:

fans. Willie Adamas is like the most I mean enjoyable baseball player. When it's good or bad or ugly, willie Adamas is the most joke like laughing around, it doesn't matter who's out at second base, he's joking with you kind of guy. And for him to be as hot as he was because he was pulled back and he was still trying to get back over there and get the last word into that conversation, just to be where he was, I was like what you know. And then they nobody knows what came out of it right after the game, they wouldn't tell us. And then nobody knows what came out of it right After the game, they wouldn't tell

Speaker 1:

us. I mean, what could have been said by James McCann to fire up Willie Adamas that much that Willie, out of all people, willie Adamas got into his face. I was like oh, and then I can't remember who was saying it, if it was Lane Grindle or if it was the guy on Apple TV. He's like this is the kind of edge that the Brewers have this year. You know Hoskins bench clearing there. And then yet another bench is clear here for Willie Adamas and you look at it and you're like I kind of like that

Speaker 1:

edge. I kind of like the edge where even a guy like Willie Adamas, if you say the wrong thing to him, he ain't afraid of you, he's going to get up in your face too, and afraid of you, he's going to get up in your face too. And I love that. I love the edge that this team plays with and the I mean just the the clubhouse morale of this team that they're not scared of you, they're not scared of anybody. I mean, and I can't remember what I was talking to and they're like oh, james McCann, he would have just mopped Willie Adamas and I'm like I don't know about that one, I don't know about that one. I mean, willie Adamas is a real nice guy, but I just got that feeling that he's got that little extra pop. He's got that little extra pop below him, right, and he ain't afraid of you, he's not. I mean, he wasn't afraid of James McCann there because he was nose to nose with

Speaker 1:

him. I mean, before that ump came in there, that was some sparks in a game that really wasn't relatively close. I mean, look at hits in this game 15-6. Brewers had 15 compared to the Baltimore Orioles' 6 in this one. So not really close in any hindsight there, but in this game going out, adamas 3-5, like I said, frelick 2-4 in this one, reese Hoskins 2-5. Sanchez 2-5 in this one. Monasterio did play in this one 0 for

Speaker 1:

four. And then Ortiz I mean Ortiz showing, I thought the greatest thing you know we talked about before the series guys going up against their old clubs and showing them, hey, you should have never gotten rid of me Like I'm better, you know this. And that I thought Ortiz did fantastic in this series. Three for five in this game. Two RBIs, a run scored, that was great stuff. That was great stuff out of the Brewers and I thought the big number in this game for me, only six strikeouts. Only six strikeouts for a team that has been striking out a little bit. They've been putting up runs, don't get me wrong, but they've been striking out a little at high clip. I love their ability to put the ball in play in this game here. So, going off of that, the pitching staff in this one, freddie pitched fantastic. Freddie pitched. This might be one of the better games I've

Speaker 1:

seen. Freddie Peralta pitch in a while. Right, six innings, five hits, one earned run, 11 strikeouts, one home run given up in this game. One home run, that was it. That was it for runs in this game for Baltimore. He pitched fantastic. I thought Everything was working. He looked like a number one in your staff kind of guy in this game

Speaker 1:

here. I loved what I saw out of Freddie. Jb Buckus came in, then he had an inning pitch there, one strikeout zeroes across the board elsewhere. And then looking at, vieira pitched in this game here, two innings, one hit, one walk and two strikeouts. Good outing out of Vieira there, good outing out of Buccas. And then Freddie Peralta pitched fantastic to start this one 2-0,. Freddie Peralta moves to after that game there with the 2.55 ERA. Great stuff out of Freddie

Speaker 1:

Peralta. You know Burns pitching this series, freddie pitching this series and I got to say Freddie looked better. Freddie looked better than Burns. I will say it. We can live with that. Freddie looked better than Burns did in this series and that was great. So Brewers win game one 11-1 there against the Orioles. Game two a little bit of the same. Brewers win this one

Speaker 1:

11-5. This one Baltimore did hit. I mean they were hitting the ball off of DL Hall in this game here, 12 hits for the Baltimore Orioles. In this one they jumped out to an early lead, 4-1 lead there. And then the Brewers came storming back and I love that. I love this team's ability that they're realistically I mean you watch this team, they're not out of

Speaker 1:

it. That's what I think was missing last year. You can say the year before that those teams when it got to a certain point you just said yourself it's over, this team. I mean I'm watching this team and they can go down. I mean, look at that Reds game. They went down. What 8-0? 8-0, 8-1, whatever it was to that Reds team and they lost that one 10 to eight. Like you, just look at these games for the brewers and it's just like this team's never out of it. They, they don't feel like they're out of it. It doesn't matter if it's eight, nothing. Those guys are all up on the dugout steps. They're all still hooting and hollering, they're all still running, they're all still fired up. That's what I love. I love about this team. I think they have a different kind of chemistry and a different kind of drive than what we've seen in years past. So I love what I'm seeing so far here. 11-5 was the

Speaker 1:

final. In this one, brewers I mean Elvis Poguero picks up the win. Kremer took the loss for the Orioles in this one. And looking at the box, in this one, brewers, they hit once again. In this one, oliver Dunn one for three. Ortiz did pinch, hit late in this one, 0 for 2, but he did draw a walk. And then we look Contreras, 2 for 4. Frelick, 2 for 5. Adamas, he goes 3 for 5 in this game. Bowers, 1 for 5. 2 for 4, or 2 for 5 from Hoskins, excuse me there, 2 for 5 from Hoskins, 3 for 5 from Terang Jackson, sherrill goes 1-5. And Blake Perkins did struggle in this game. Here he did struggle 0-4 in this one, but don't worry, he bounces back in Game 3. Don't you worry, no-transcript. Like I mentioned, dl Hall did struggle Three and a third. Eight hits, five underruns, one walk, four strikeouts, three home runs given up. The long ball did get to DL Hall in this

Speaker 1:

one. Elvis Piguero, though he pitched fantastic, I mean early on in this one, there wasn't really, I mean there wasn't an inning where nobody scored. Like you look across the board there, from the bottom of the first to the top of the fourth. There were runs in both halves. I mean you look at three in the bottom half for the Orioles. Then you had 1-1, 3-1, and then four by the Brewers there in the top of the fourth. Then it came Elvis Paguero and he puts up the first set of zeros for the Brewers there and inning and two thirds, one hit, two strikeouts, a walk walk there. Good stuff out of Elvis. Then you had Hudson come in. Hudson's been pitching well for this Brewers team, very well for the Brewers. One inning pitched, one hit, two strikeouts got that ERA at 1.35. Fantastic stuff out of Hudson there. Then you had JB Buckus come in there, two-thirds of an inning, one hit and one strikeout. Hobie Milner for an inning and a third, one strikeout and then Piams for an inning, one hit and zeros across the board. I mean that's great

Speaker 1:

stuff. The bullpen came into this game and they said, okay, we've seen the beginning Runs coming across. It seems like just automatic. And they came in and said that's it, we're done, we're done, this is it, we're done, we're closing this baby down. And they did fantastic, great outing by the Brewers bullpen in this one. They pitched well. I mean you look at the bullpen as a collective on the year here They've pitched fantastic. So good stuff there out of the Brewers

Speaker 1:

bullpen. In game two of this series. Here Brewers picked up that 11-5 win. And then came game three of the series Brewers, they sadly dropped this game here. You're welcome, oriole fans. We allowed Jackson Holiday to get his first hit. You're welcome. You're welcome for that

Speaker 1:

one. We did that one for you guys, to make you guys feel better that you guys got a good Jackson. We got Jackson Churro, you got Jackson Holiday. We want to make you feel good. We gave you a hit there. Just kidding. Just kidding. I mean it's Jackson

Speaker 1:

Holiday. You know, I really chalked it up to watching the first couple games, watching him against the Red Sox, watching him against the Brewers. It just really came down to he had to see his first hit. Right, you know he's pressing up there, he's trying to do too much. He had to see that first hit. Now that he's got his first hit, thank goodness the Brewers are leaving town because now he can start hitting. I don't care, he can start hitting. Now the Brewers are done with you, you can start hitting all you want. So good stuff there to see Jackson Holiday get his first hit with the Orioles

Speaker 1:

there. But for the Brewers, william Contreras says hey, corbin Burns, remember me, I caught for you. Watch this. I'm going to send her out to straight center Bomb to start off the game. For Contreras. That was fantastic. I love that. But Contreras in this one two for

Speaker 1:

four. On the ballgame, hoskins one for five, frelick one for five. Adamas stays hot, two for four in this one. Sanchez did catch for the Brewers one for three, one for three. Then we saw Terang, one for four. Ortiz one for four. Joey Weamer gets called back up to the bigs 0 for three in this one. Oliver Dunn, 0 for one. And then Blake Perkins. Another fantastic game out of Blake Perkins. Three for four for Perkins there, two runs scored. He had a home run there to actually give the Brewers a 4-3 lead at one point. That was surrendered after that. But Perkins stays hot for the Brewers and I thought that was great stuff there. Brewers, I mean 12 hits in this game compared to the Orioles' 11 they hit. I mean this team is just hitting the ball left and right

Speaker 1:

there. The Brewers did in this game here, looking at the pitching staff, colin Ray gave, I mean, I thought, a great outing for the Brewers. Five and two thirds, five hits, three earned runs, one walk, two home runs given up in six strikeouts. The home run is a little bit alarming, but you avoid the long ball. He pitched well in this game here, so I'm not going to take anything away from Colin Ray's start, though I thought he pitched fantastic, especially going up against an ace on the opposite side in Corbin Burns. Sometimes that adds a little bit of an element to the game and I thought Colin Ray pitched fantastic with what he was given in this one. So great stuff there to Colin Ray. Hudson did come in for a third of an inning to finish it out he had one strikeout. Great, I mean. Hudson's been fantastic. You can't sell this guy any more than he has been fantastic early on here for the Brewers. So he's got that ERA down to 1.29. Great

Speaker 1:

stuff. Omnir Yeribay did take the loss for the Brewers here. He had one inning pitch there, three hits, two earned runs in this one, and I mean not his best outing, but not, I mean he's young, he's young yet you got to give him a little bit of time there. And he's pitched well for the Brewers and in spots he's also had his struggles. So just a young guy trying to find his way here in the Brewers bullpen. So nothing alarming there for me. I think Abner Yorube will be just fine. Hobie Milner did come for an inning at the end there. He had three hits given up there, one earned run, one walk and a home run given up for Holby. So good all the way around series by the Milwaukee Brewers. In this one they do lose the third game in series, but two out of three. Two out of three ain't bad, not bad

Speaker 1:

whatsoever. That will set up a homestand now with the San Diego Padres. That game will be coming up tonight here. A 640 start. Joe Ross will be taking on Joe Musgrove for Diego Padres. That game will be coming up tonight here. A 640 start. Joe Ross will be taking on Joe Musgrove for the Padres in this one. Padres coming off of a series there with the Dodgers, so they're going to be traveling here tonight to take on the Brewers tomorrow night there. So good stuff there. Joe Ross trying to come out with another good start here. 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA. Joe Musgrove, he's 1-2 with 6.87

Speaker 1:

ERA. Heading into this one Brewers I mean Yelich's face Musgrove the most 21 at-bats, four RBIs, one home run. Not sure if we're going to see Yelich. I'm not sure we're going to get news on Yelich coming out tomorrow there when they get back to Milwaukee there. Outside of that, not much happening for the Brewers Two at-bats for Adamas, two at-bats for William Contreras, eight at-bats for Hoskins and two at-bats for Sanchez, Chance Sanchez all with zeros across the board there for average and everything against Musgrove. So Brewers will be facing a lot of

Speaker 1:

these. Brewers will be facing Musgrove for the first time there for the first time looking at the san diego padres, manny machado and tatis are the only ones that the experience against joe ross. Machado and two at bats, he's got nothing to show for. And tatis and two at bats, he's batting a thousand against him there. So good stuff there. Brewers padres coming up tonight here from american family field. That game can be seen on Valley Sports, wisconsin Also, if you want to listen to the game, if you're out traveling, whatever it is, wtmj 620 or the Brewers Radio Network, wherever you get your

Speaker 1:

Speaker 1:

sponsors. But I want to look at the out-of-town scoreboard. The out-of-town scoreboard what's going on in Major League Baseball right now? So yesterday we did see the Red Sox. They beat the Angels 5-4 there. Pirates, they beat the Phillies 9-2. They moved to 11-5. We had the Blue Jays 5-0 over the Rockies, the Mets 2-1 winners over the Royals. Giants they lose to the Rays 9-44. There. Twins lose to the Tigers 4-3. We had the Marlins losing to the Braves there 9-7. Yankees Guardians that was all Guardians there 8-7 in that one. Astros they get a win over the Rangers there 8-5. Astros been struggling. So if you're an Astros fan, good to see them getting a win

Speaker 1:

there. The White Sox take the loss to the Reds. They're 11-4 in that one. Nationals they lose to the Athletics 7-6. There the Athletics are 7-9. Just think about that. 7-9 Oakland Athletics they have not the worst record in baseball. Did not think I'd be able to say that so fantastic stuff there. Out of the oakland a's whatever you want to call them, when they move sacramento I don't know what term he called there. Uh, mariners, they lose to the cubs three to two there. And the cardinals, they lose to the d-backs five to nothing. Standing wise right

Speaker 1:

now. Brewers, they lead the central 10 and four ahead of the pirates at 11 and five, the cubs nine and six. You have the reds coming at 11-5, the Cubs 9-6. You have the Reds coming in at 9-6 and the Cardinals at 7-9. The Brewers have a plus 31 run differential right now. That is just, I mean, something that we haven't seen from the Brewers in a very long time 91 runs scored to 60 runs allowed there. That is great stuff out of the

Speaker 1:

Brewers. Looking at other teams in the Central, I mean you're looking at the Pirates plus 24, reds plus 22, and the Cubs at plus 13. The NL East the Braves are up top right now at a 9-5 record, followed by the Phillies, then the Mets, then the Washington Nationals and then the Miami Marlins coming in last there. I mean you look at run differential right now how much of a difference it is between the Brewers and elsewhere. The Brewers plus 31. You look at the Atlanta Braves plus 19 right now. You look at the team in the NL West who's leading it all. You have the Dodgers plus 15 right now. They're plus 21 for the Diamondbacks. They're in second in the West right now, followed by the Padres. And then you have the San Francisco Giants, followed by the Colorado Rockies there, who are negative 34. So not good stuff happening in Colorado, but not as bad as what's happening in Miami right now. They're negative 35 in the run differential right now. But Rockies, they do not have the worst record in baseball. They are ahead of them. Pesky looking Marlins for the NL. But you want to look worst record in baseball are ahead of them. Pesky looking marlins for the nl. But you want to look worse record in

Speaker 1:

baseball. We got to travel to the al central. That is where the white socks two wins on the season for the white socks they are. I mean, that's a dumpster fire team. That's a dumpster fire team. They're negative 51 right now in run

Speaker 1:

differential. Looking at the al central, you got the cleveland guardians up top there, followed by the Royals I mean a surprise team in the Royals, they are playing well right now followed by the Detroit Tigers and then you have the Minnesota Twins, followed by the White Sox. Al East, you have the Yankees, followed by Baltimore. Then you have Boston, followed by Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto and then you travel to the AL West. This one's a little different right now but I do expect the Astros to figure it out at some point because I don't think the Oakland A's will finish ahead of them there. But looking at the AL West, you have the division leading Texas Rangers sitting at eight and eight, followed by the Angels at seven and eight, the Oakland A's at 7-9, the Seattle Mariners at 6-10, and then, looking at the bottom half of that one, the Houston Astros at

Speaker 1:

6-11. So good stuff there coming out of the MLB standings. I mean early on, yet early on, lots of things going to happen. Yet we can't wait for more baseball. So good stuff there coming out of the weekend slate of games. But with that we got to get into the box. But before we get into the box, I just want to mention the last couple of our sponsors here, quick of the

Speaker 1:

So get yourself down to pittsville farm and home in pittsville, wisconsin. There. But hey, we got to get into the bucks. We got to get into the bucks, the

Speaker 1:

bucks. Over this last weekend here they dropped two games and well, that kind of set them up for. I don't know, maybe they tanked right. Maybe they tanked they wanted to lose so that way they wouldn't get the heat. Maybe that's what it was, I don't know. I don't know. Maybe they tanked right. Maybe they tanked they wanted to lose so that way they wouldn't get the heat. Maybe that's what it was, I don't know. I don't know what it was, but the Bucs dropped two games over the weekend. There they lost that game to the Oklahoma City Thunder, there that was in OKC. For that one, 125 to 107 in that game there,

Speaker 1:

okc. Basically, I mean they just controlled this game from the opening tip and the Bucs Bucs were a little depleted. I mean, in hindsight they were depleted in this game. You know, you look at Middleton and Lopez. They paced the team with 18 apiece there. Beasley was 17, 6 for Bev and then Portis for 4 in this one Dame didn't play, you didn't have Giannis in this game here. So it was a depleted Bucs roster in this game

Speaker 1:

here. But they, I mean guys showed up in this game Gallinario with 11 and 19 minutes, jay Crowder, he had three. Bieschkamp, seven points in this one, six for Livingston, eight for Connington, three for Rollins in this game here. At Ty-Ty, washington with 2 in this ballgame for the Bucs. So Bucs, do drop this game. Shot it well at the free throw line right, 12 for 13,. Not a bad night there, but 11 for 30 from the 3-point line, that's not, I mean not terrible, but 17 turnovers will get you, will get you a lot of the time there. So shots weren't falling and they were turning the basketball over Not good stuff there out of the box going up against

Speaker 1:

OKC. So that set up a Sunday, I mean, with a lot to play for. Let's just say that, a lot to play for against this Magic team. I mean, if you lose and the Knicks won, the Cavaliers won you would end up the four seed. I think the Cavs wanted the four seed. I'm going to be honest with you, because they played the end of the bench against Charlotte Made me really think this team, they don't care, they're all in for that four seed. So I mean they lose, calves do lose, but the Knicks do win. So then I mean the Bucs game was over, I believe for the Knicks game. Knicks did play the bulls, uh, the box and the magic. So that game was the Bucs were done before

Speaker 1:

that. But you knew the stipulation of this game you had to show up, play big time in this one, and the Bucs did not. I mean you look at this game here, did not? I mean you look at this game here, portis 17,. You had Middleton with 17,. Good stuff out of those two. Lopez adds 11,. Pat Bev, he gives you two. I mean I'm not expecting a lot out of Pat Bev there, but Damian Lillard in this game here, 30 minutes, two for 14 from the field, 0 for 4 from downtown, 12 for 13 from the free throw line. He had, I believe, 16 points in this game here. I hope playoffs are Dame time. I hope playoffs are Dame time because I got to see it at some point. Right, we got this guy who was supposed to give me Dame time all the time and I haven't seen it yet. So I mean good stuff

Speaker 1:

there. Bucs do struggle in this game here, though you look on the outside of that Crowder, 6, six points, seven points for beach camp in this game here, four, four, I believe, beasley, and then six for tie tie. Washington in this game here, looking on the flip side of that, they could not slow down. Wagner or bonchero in this game, or wagner, sorry, wagner or, uh, bonchero. In this game here, 26 and 25 respectively. In this game here, bucks I and 25,

Speaker 1:

respectively. In this game here Bucks, I mean shooting the basketball 7 for 27 from downtown. Let me repeat that, 7 for 27. You will not win many games like that. And then you look at the field. I mean field goal percentage as a whole. I mean 30 for 75, 40%. You shot 21 for 23 at the free throw line In this game here, 17 turnovers once again in this game, 10 steals, 16 assists, 34 rebounds. He got out rebounded. You turn the basketball over crap ton in this one, only 11 turnovers for the Magic. And then you look at the flip side of that Magic. They shoot 49% in this game year, 31 from downtown, 94 from the free throw line. They just outplayed the bucks in a game that I thought the bucks would really want. They outplayed the bucks in this game. So bucks drop. They dropped the series or the season finale to the orlando magic. So now that sets the bucks in an I mean I was trying to think of the way I wanted to say

Speaker 1:

this. It sets the Bucs up in a interesting, a very interesting playoff. So now you're the three seed, you will play the Indiana Pacers. We've watched this Bucs team play the Pacers this year and well, it has not been pretty Whether Giannis is on the court or not. It has not been pretty. The Bucs are a little bit different. Right, you have Pat Bev now, so it might be a little bit different. But I mean this is a Pacers team that's ran you this year and what kills the Bucs the most? Athleticism Guys who can get up and down and get after this Bucs team and the Bucs don't do that in return. That's what the Pacers

Speaker 1:

do. So this series we're going to get into it more. I mean we're going to get into this series a little bit more here as the week goes on. We got the play-in tournament coming up first here for the NBA, where you'll see teams like the Sixers and the Bulls are in there. The Hawks and the Heat will all be in playoff games. I believe the Bucs, if I'm not mistaken, they tip off the 21st, so that will be Sunday. The Bucs will play this next Sunday against the Pacers. That'll be the first game of that series there at the Pfizer. So I mean you got first couple games at home there. You got to show us something right. Giannis got a week off here. Hopefully everything gets right with that uh calf there and he comes

Speaker 1:

back. But this is a team the Bucs have struggled with this year. Now you have Pat Bev. How does that change right? How does that change the dynamic of this team? You know getting after guys and everything like that. And everybody's told me all year long just wait for the playoffs, wait for the playoffs. This Bucs team, they know how to turn it on. They have a playoff caliber

Speaker 1:

roster. Okay, okay, it's playoff time Now. I got to see it. I got to see it. Now. I don't want to be a hater, I want to be optimistic, but what I'm saying is that if they win, if they come out and they completely blow teams out of the water and everything's great, fantastic. I'm not going to sit here and say that I was right and blah, blah, blah, no, not a chance. But what I'm saying is I got to see it. I got to see this Bucs team play up to expectations, because you got to have some expectations going into this year, right, head coach or not, whatever the coaching situation was, you have NBA guys. They got to be able to play somewhat subpar NBA basketball. So what are we going to get out of this game? That's what we're going to see here. So that'll be Sunday. We're going to talk more about that series as we get closer

Speaker 1:

here. But looking at the rest of the playoffs there, because the whole thing is figured out now. So we have the Miami Heat and 76ers. That'll be on Wednesday. The playing tournament starts on Wednesday. We'll have the Heat Heat and 76ers. That'll be on Wednesday. You know, the play-in tournament starts on Wednesday. We'll have the Heat and the 76ers squaring off and then we'll have the Hawks and the Bulls. That game will also be on Wednesday. The winner of the 9-10 game will play at the loser of the 7-8 game. That'll be on Friday. So there's your play-in tournament schedule right there Heat, 76ers, hawks and Bulls. Now you look at the rest of it Winner of that 8 seed. So it will be whoever ends up, the winner of that 9-10, and then the loser of the 7-8 game there will end up playing the Boston Celtics. Then we have the Knicks taking on whoever wins that game Sixers or Heat and then you have the Bucks taking on the Pacers and the Cavs taking on the Magic

Speaker 1:

there. So good stuff there in the East. Looking over at the West, I mean you're looking at the play-in tournament right now. You're going to have the Lakers and the Pelicans, that'll be on Tuesday, and then the Warriors and the Sacramento Kings. That'll be on Tuesday there, and then the winner of that 9-10 will play the loser of 7-8. So that'll be on Friday along with the Eastern Conference game. That'll set up first round action there. Okc got the one seed over there, so they're going to play the winner of that game on Friday there. The number two seed, denver Nuggets. They're going to be taking on that seven seed. So the Suns or the Lakers there, the number three seeded, timberwolves will be taking on the Phoenix Suns in that game there. Oh, that was a typo on their part. There it's going to be the Pelicans or the Lakers there. The Suns are in that sixth spot and then you're going to have the LA Clippers taking on the Mavs

Speaker 1:

there. So good stuff there in the NBA playoffs Coming up

Speaker 1:

here. That'll be starting up on Tuesday with the Western Conference games, followed by the Eastern Conference on Wednesday and then a little bit more play-in on Friday, followed up by I mean you're going to have playoff basketball starting this next weekend here, bucs starting their playoff stretch on Sunday going up against the Pacers. So with that, that's about all I got for today. I mean we're going to get more into the Bucs as the week goes on, brewers starting up a series against the Padres. I don't like the Padres so I can't wait for that series there. I want to see the Brew crew just put the nail, just drop them. I just want to see it. I want to see a series against the Padres where the Brewers just bring out the brooms. Bring out the brooms at American Family Field and win that baby. But with that this has been Wisconsin Sports on the Go With Trades. Thank you guys for listening. I hope you enjoy the rest of your Monday, but until I catch you guys back here on the show tomorrow, deuces, thank you.
