Speaker 1:

Thank you. What are we doing on this tuesday, a fantastic, fantastic Tuesday, here in the great state of Wisconsin? This is Wisconsin Sports on the go with Trage. I'm your host, trage. And well, I told you, I told you we would talk Packers draft today. So we're going to be talking about Packers draft, but I got to talk about that, whatever it was.

Speaker 1:

We saw last night for an ending to the Brewer game, a terrible game all the way around by Milwaukee. So I'm not going to dive too deep into it, I don't want to talk about it too much because we have a lot to get into with the NFL draft. But I mean, just to start it out, watching that game, last night I fell asleep, I'll be honest with you. I mean, worked all day, came home I was, you know, getting ready for the show and then I was watching that Brewer game and well, it was, I mean, pretty, pretty boring, to be honest with you. So about the seventh inning, I dozed, I dozed a little bit, I dozed a little bit and I woke back up. Eighth inning you know I didn't doze for that long, but I dozed off a little bit there, woke back up. Bottom of the eighth inning, there Went to the ninth and the Brewers Sal got it going for the Brewers there in that bottom half, the ninth doubles. And then we saw Adamas walked the double steal. Well, that all happened. Now there's an out in the inning Bauer's coming to the play. Okay, here we go. Here we go drop. Third strike ball gets by the catcher. Wild pitch ball gets by the catcher. Jake Bowers bat comes through, hits the catcher on his backswing. Okay, it automatic dead ball. That it's a dead play, plays dead. Right. Then nothing else can happen except for Jake Bowers going to first base, because what happened before, the wild pitch, happened before now.

Speaker 1:

I don't like the rule, simply because the catcher came into Jake Bowers lane, you know, and I guess when I say lane I am talking about so Bowers has got the batter's box back, right. So I mean we see guys make these extended backswings all the time. The catcher slides and he slid into Bowers' lane, his backward motion lane there where Bowers' bat's going to come back. So first off, I don't like to call anyways, he came. You know if the catcher would have stood up and ran across trying to catch this lane there where bowers bat's gonna come back. So, first off, I don't like to call anyways, he came. You know, if the catcher would have stood up and ran across trying to catch this ball behind bowers and bowers backswing hits him, I get you want to call it a dead ball, but at the same time I'm like it's gonna happen. What are you, what are you supposed to do as a batter? Then you know, you're you're kind of limiting what the batter can do, okay, but beyond that, so the ball gets by before the backwards contact happens. So, bowers, that's a drop.

Speaker 1:

Third strike Bowers should be able to run two first, which he did. He made it there, uncontested. Sal Frelick did try to score. They sent him back. That's the right, I mean technically, according to the rules of the game. That is the right, that's the right call. Okay, that made sense.

Speaker 1:

But no, no, now we're going to call Jake Bowers out on the play. How? What I want to know is how Are we going to get a second day of Brewer baseball where after the game we get another and pardon my French freaking apology from the MLB? Is that what we're going to get out of this? Is it an apology from the MLB? Like, yeah, you know, we know we messed up, we're sorry. We're sorry. We screwed you over. I mean, you know you lost that game to the Yankees and in that big inning Aaron Judge stuck his hand up and well, there was interference there that couldn't be reviewed and the ump screwed up. And now, against the Rays, there was this call that, well, the ball got by the catchays. There was this call that, well, the ball got by the catcher and it shouldn't have been blown dead for Bowers there, but it was. But it was, and we really are sorry, though we hope that you can somehow forgive us and just keep going on. And keep going on.

Speaker 1:

Like the MLB is a crap show. I gotta be honest. I was having a conversation with one of my good buddies out there. He has his own show. They're the BrewPod Brewers Podcast. I believe it's called the BrewPod. I'm pretty darn sure they're. I could be mistaken. I feel bad if I get them wrong there on the shout out the BrewPod Between the Lines Brewers Podcast.

Speaker 1:

I was having a good conversation there with Caden is his name. Over there. We've been chatting back and forth, talking about the brewers and everything like that. We met each other. I found his show on Facebook there and we've been chatting back and forth a little bit and he messaged me and he's like what was that? I mean like you know, he's like he said, I mean you know that the game, the Brewers sucked anyways in this game, but that's a terrible call and I was like it was.

Speaker 1:

I mean we were talking about it a little bit there, just as I've been telling you guys basically how I feel about it here, and you know I just said I said the MLB is broken. It is broken. This is a league now that is money driven. We're going to do everything we can do to get money. That's what we need. That's what professional sports are turning into is a money game. Sports are turning into is a money game. And can you blame them? Are we going to sit here and tell each other that we're just going to boycott and everything like that? No, we're not going to. That's just how it is. We're not going to do it. But I mean it's money-driven games now where it's like you look at the NBA. They complain how the game is played. Well, force some of your rules, right, force some of your rules. Maybe the game wouldn't be played like that.

Speaker 1:

The nfl how the hell are you supposed to tackle anybody anymore? I have no idea. I have absolutely no idea, except for I believe it's still legal to hit them in the midsection, believe that in the gut area? I believe that's still legal. Every other form of tackling, I'm pretty sure, is out the door at this point. So so look at the NFL. How are you supposed to play that game anymore? Look at baseball.

Speaker 1:

Now we can review everything except for balls and strikes, foul or fair on the infield and interferences. Apparently, we cannot review of interference. Why would that be? The one call we cannot make is a freaking interference call. We see how many times throughout games, base runner interference or catcher interference or whatever it is. We see all these. Why can't we review it? Why can't we go to the board and say if you want to use your challenge at an interference, be my guest? Why can't we review it? Why can't we go to the board and say if you want to use your challenge at an interference, be my guest? Why can't we?

Speaker 1:

I don't get it same thing in this situation. Why in the hell can we not call somebody these umpires? Why can't they call somebody and say, hey, dude, what does the rule say? Right, because I mean, you have all these rule experts out there who have all these rules in the back of their mind? They have the rule book sitting in front of them. Why can't we call somebody who has these rules in front of them? Why do we have numb nuts and dippy behind home plate? Numb nuts last night, because that's all I can think.

Speaker 1:

When I'm looking at his face, there is numbnuts. I don't know if he was trying to run a wood chipper or what he was doing out there with the safety glasses on Probably prescription or whatever, but it looked like safety glasses. I mean I wear those same style ones when I'm out there on the job site and I'm trying not to get metal shavings in my eyeballs. That's what he's wearing out there. So he's trying to run a wood chipper out there. These umpires don't have a freaking clue what they're looking at anymore. I mean I'm so heated right now I got something going on my throat there.

Speaker 1:

I mean you look at that play at third there joey ortiz the base hit down that left field line and or that ended up being a double. But you look at that play where the hell's the third base or third base umpire looking? He's looking back towards the pitcher's mound and the balls by him and then he makes the call of foul. He makes the call of foul why? It's simple, can it? Simply as can be when a ball gets hit down the line, just like if you listen to, if you listen to the Brewers radio or if you're watching on TV there, jeff Levering said it plain as day you call it fair up until it gets overturned. Why do you want the play to play out? Kevin Cash came out there and he argued for freaking. Why doesn't Kevin Cash get freaking tossed? He argued for 15 minutes about a call that was already made. The umpires sent him to second base.

Speaker 1:

Why is he stalling this game off? I don't get it. I don't. It is just, honestly, the past two days of watching brewer baseball outside of the brewers just sucking on offense and the pitching staff finally the pitching staff played good and the bre Brewers still lost 1-0. But I mean outside of that, I have really seen the past two days where the MLB just sucks, where it just plain out sucks.

Speaker 1:

It used to be this game that was. You know, you didn't have all these issues. Nowadays. You want to know how bad MLB umpiring is. You want to know how little care the MLB puts into their MLB umps, we still have Angel Hernandez calling games. Let's just be real with ourselves for a second.

Speaker 1:

Yes, he's a storyline. Yes, everybody talks about him when he comes to town. But you guess what? He sucks. We've seen it, we know it, the MLB knows it, yet he is still employed. Why? We know it, the MLB knows it, yet he is still employed.

Speaker 1:

Why Tell me that? Why, we see how many crappy umpires there are in the MLB. You have how many minor league umpires. I don't know. I don't have the number. I really don't have the number off the top of my head. I don't have the number pulled up on my screen, but I tell you there's probably a metric shit ton and you can't tell me. You can't find better than these idiots, these bunch of doorknobs. This crew that is in milwaukee right now should be investigated by the mlb for sucking, just simply sucking. How could a ball get hit down the third baseline and nobody knows where it landed? The umpire has no freaking clue. He had no clue.

Speaker 1:

Like these umpires, they just I mean, truth be told just seem incompetent. That that is basically all I can leave it at. Is that they just seem incompetent at their jobs. If I went to a job and I didn't know what the hell I was doing, I would my job. These guys go to their jobs. They can't do it right. They can't enforce Excuse me there. They can't enforce their own rules, the rules that are created by the MLB. They can't figure them out or take time to. Jeez Louise, it's kicking my butt just talking about this. Oh, excuse me there. They can't even enforce their own rules.

Speaker 1:

Right now, something's got to change, something has to change in the game of baseball, because I mean, I mean, we saw it there, we've seen it before. We've seen the horse crap calls, we've seen the horse crap enforcement of rules throughout the MLB, and yet there's no penalty, there's nothing. There's no like hey, you made a bad call, take a couple days off. There's none like hey, you made a bad call, take a couple days off. There's none of that. Why? Why is that? Why do these guys I mean Brewers have been screwed two days in a row? There's a lot of teams who have been screwed this year, whether by balls and strikes calls, whether by calls in the field, whatever it is, there has been a lot of teams getting screwed this year and it hasn't changed. It hasn't changed.

Speaker 1:

It is getting closer and closer and I think the MLB is just doing it basically because they just want robotic umpires. They want to stop having to pay MLB umps and they just want to have these robotic umpires in there. That's what they want, plain and simple. If to have these robotic umpires in there, that's what they want, plain and simple If they leave these doorknobs in here, they'll get it. They'll get it eventually, angel Hernandez, why are they leaving them in there? They want robo umps, simple as that.

Speaker 1:

It has to be something along those lines, because right now, watching this crap show, watching that crap show that was last night, watching the crap show that was the day before, I'm glad Pat Murphy got tossed. I am glad that Pat Murphy went out there and he lost his temper. I am 1,000% behind him on that, because you got screwed over the day before. You got screwed over in this one. Lose it, man, lose it and make it worth it. He made it worth getting tossed out of this one. So with that, a little bit of a hot start, hot start to the show, right, hot start to the show. Got to start out every show with something and that was our hot start to the show right there. So with that, before we move on here and get a little into the Packers and the Packers NFL draft here, I want to look at a couple of our sponsors here.

Speaker 1:

So with that, with that getting off, hot start, hot start to this tuesday here and it is. I'm loving it. I'm loving it. You got to get a little heated every once in a while and well, that got me. That got me hot.

Speaker 1:

Last night, I told you I woke up from a nap and I woke up and I was in fighting mood. I was, I was in that fighting mood, right, you just you ever had that. You just wake up and you're just like son of a gun. I could fight a bear right now. Probably wouldn't win, but I could fight a bear right now. I woke up in that kind of mood and when I got up and I watched the end of that Brewer game, I was like, ah, I'm gonna go jump on, I'm gonna go jump on the show here and I am going to lose my cool. And that is exactly what happened during this one. I just I couldn't hold it back. I couldn't hold it back. Probably some of the things I said they're a little far out, a little far out, but hey, that's how a lot of people feel. I'm gonna be honest with you. That is how a lot of people feel about the crap show that is going on all the way around right now.

Speaker 1:

So with that, I want to get into something we're going to talk. It's going to be a little bit more exciting, right, a little bit more exciting in terms of leading up into an upcoming season. So last season we watched Packers. Second half of the year they really started cooking, made it all the way into the NFC divisional round there. I mean, should have probably made it to the NFC championship game but blew the lead against the San Francisco 49ers. The rest is history, right. So now we're in an offseason. It's adding on, right, we're reloading, we're retooling and we're going to get ready to rock and roll right Heading into that 2024 season there when they had to play the Eagles in that first match up there.

Speaker 1:

So, opening round we haven't talked about really any of this draft yet, so we're just going to jump back to the opening round here. First round I mean we watched the draft and we're watching it unfold and it's like Cooper DeGene hasn't been drafted, cooper DeGene hasn't been drafted, cooper DeGene hasn't been drafted. And then we got all the way to 25, and the Packers were on the clock and I was like, put it to the bank, cooper DeGene is a Green Bay Packer, right, we listened to Goody talk before. It was like this is the guy he wants in the secondary for Green Bay. Well, he surprised the crap out of me Because he did not take Cooper DeGene. I really did think he'd take him. I'm going to be honest with you. I was like this is a no-brainer and apparently there's a lot more brains to the operation than I thought. Because, goody, he jumps out of need, right, the Packers needed a tackle, they needed some offensive line help. I'm not going to say that the pick was. It's unproven right.

Speaker 1:

Every time you go into NFL draft, it seems like everybody gets irritated by a pick that is made right. Especially early on, we talked about Packers making that pick of Rashawn Gary. There was people who were irate. They're like, yeah, he's an idiot, why would he pick Rashawn Gary in this spot? That's the dumbest thing he could ever do. Jordan Love's a prime example. Stupid, that was me. That was me. What, why, why, why, why did we pick this guy here? We got so many options behind him here, right, and we jump on this Jordan Love bandwagon. I mean, that was me. I'll be honest with you, that was me. It seemed like it worked out. It seemed like it worked out so good against has this whole thing, this whole scheme, to him right? He didn't, like I heard today I can't remember if it was a caller in on the Bill Michaels show or where I heard it but some guy said he's like he didn't go off Mel Kuyper's board. He didn't go off of this guy's board. He said he went off of the Packers board and you know that's what he did in this one.

Speaker 1:

Jordan Morgan, first round pick, 25th pick, offensive tackle coming out of Arizona there, arizona there, heading into Green Bay, 6'5", 311 pounds. And for a 6'5 dude who's 311 pounds? This guy has got some agility and he's got the ability to get outside the numbers and be able to pick up blocks up the field. I was watching a little bit of his highlight tape there and I saw a highlight of him on a screen play getting out and getting a lead block there, and this guy has got some. I mean he's got some agility. He's got the ability to get out in that open field and make some key blocks for this Packers team now.

Speaker 1:

Will he stay at the guard or on that tackle position? I don't know simply because he is a shorter armed guy you know a lot of tackles. They like to see tackles having longer arms, being able to reach outside the body a little bit more. Maybe he slides into a guard spot. But this guy has got some speed and he's got the ability to move around and I watched him.

Speaker 1:

There was a highlight that I saw of him. There was a blitz coming on his left side. I believe it was a linebacker coming in hot off of that left side and he picked him up deep in the backfield and actually knocked him off his route, gave his quarterback time to make a key throw there in that game. So, watching the stuff of Jordan Morgan if he's healthy I mean everybody was worried about his injury in the past and everything like that If he's healthy and this guy's ready to rock and roll, he could be a force to be reckoned with and with that body frame already and his skillset he could make an instant impact with the Green Bay Packers on the offensive line. So I personally am not. You know there's a lot of people who hate that pick by Green Bay. I am not completely sold that that is not going to be a solid one and may benefit them early on here in this upcoming season.

Speaker 1:

So after that first round pick, the Packers moved into that second round. The Packers moved into that second round and the door was still open. The door was still open At number 41,. Green Bay still had the opportunity to get up in the draft and possibly get Cooper DeGene. Yet they said, eh, let's trade it away. They dumped it to the Saints. The Saints ended up with Kool-Aid McKinstry another guy that we were looking at as Packer fans as a potential guy to come to Green Bay and they traded all the way back to 45. And at that 45 spot they picked up Edrin Cooper there, the top linebacker in the entire draft.

Speaker 1:

There he is a very good run defender, led the SEC with 17 tackles for loss in 2023. And I mean this guy gets through the gaps hard. His foot speed is really good. This guy can get outside and he can run down. There was a highlight of him running down a running back after like 20 yards, closing the gap on him and taking him down. So this guy has got the speed. I was just watching his highlight tape here and I mean you watch this guy in the open field making tackles, making tackles at the line, getting into that backfield. He's I mean watching a lot of these highlights here that I'm seeing on the screen right now.

Speaker 1:

This guy is, I mean, in the backfield. He is making tackles on some of these receivers, on these running backs, whatever it is, whoever he's lined up on, and getting into the backfield and taking down the quarterback too. This guy is all over the place reading plays. I've seen one here with Milrow. Milrow tried to get outside on him. He was a little QB spy in that situation and Cooper took him down in the backfield there. So just to tell about his explosive speed there, because Milrow for Alabama their quarterback, he had some decent speed there. And this guy, I mean he gets after you, he gets after you, he gets after you. And that led into that next pick in that second round for green bay, that 58th pick in the draft there. And this guy, he's another guy. He is another guy who gets after you there.

Speaker 1:

Jvn bullard 511 198 pounds out of georgia safety there he's a versatile safety but I mean his biggest thing is he's got a burst to him like no other and he loves, loves, loves, undercutting, undercutting routes and playing on the line. This guy is a big hitter. I'm talking, this guy is gonna lay the boom on you and you can see it. I mean, you look this guy up. You watch some of his highlight tapes all over the place and this guy has got some speed to him. You look at this. I mean I'm watching this player from the 2023 uh playoff there, undercutting her out there and getting an interception. I mean this guy is a ball hawk. He's gonna be all over the place, kind of like an underrated version of cooper dejeene. I mean I'm watching a play now of him taking down a, running back there in the backfield and just beating him to the outside, but he lays the boom.

Speaker 1:

He is a safety who is not afraid to put his body out there and lay the boom on you, and that is something Green Bay needs in this new defensive style that they want to play A linebacker who they can use in different packages to get after some of these quarterbacks that are trying to break the pocket, whatever it is there. Also, you can scheme them up there to send them on a rush. Whatever you got to do there. This guy is a dangerous man there at the safety position. I love that pick from Green Bay in the second round there and then that leads us into the third round.

Speaker 1:

That leads us back into that third round there where the Packers they were, I believe, near the end of it in that third round that 91st pick in the nfl draft there they ended up getting the linebacker out of missouri there, tyron hopper out of missouri there, 13th ranked uh linebacker there, 191st overall there in the league. And I mean he's not a huge inside linebacker there. He's about 6'2", 231 pounds there and he's good at getting downhill and getting between the tackles though he's quick, he's quick, he can get in between the tackle. He's going to be a good gap guy for you there and he's going to disrupt plays in the backfield right. He's got that ability, that speed threat to him that he can chase down guys in that backfield there. And you know, with the loss of Devondre Campbell there you're going to have pieces you're adding in like Edger and Cooper. But this is a guy who could also fill in at times for you and he's going to be a matchup guy for I mean you look at tight ends. You need a guy to line up with tight ends out there. He could be a very good cover linebacker for you going up against some of these tight ends out there. So I like, I like this. I think it's a solid pick thing. Their linebacker room was very scarce heading into this upcoming season here and the packers are kind of addressing that throughout this draft here. So that leads us into that fourth round and the fourth round is where the packers I kind of addressing that throughout this draft here. So that leads us into that fourth round.

Speaker 1:

And the fourth round is where the Packers I believe they had a couple picks happen in that fourth round or I could be mistaken just the one, just the one there. They had the 111th pick there in that fourth round there and they got Evan Williams out of Oregon there and you look at Evan Williams there and oh, you know, I missed a solid pick. I missed a solid pick. That is my mistake. That is my mistake there. In that third round the Packers did get. I went to 91st right away. I didn't even jump backwards there to that pick at 88 there and that was the running back out of USC. That was Marshawn Lloyd there completely blanked me. I was just, I was looking, I was cross-referencing my list because I was like I believe I missed somebody and that was the running back out of USC there, marshawn Lloyd, and he's coming in 5'9, 220.

Speaker 1:

But this guy has got some speed to him. I mean, when he stayed healthy you could have arguably said he was might have been the best running back in this draft here. I mean, look at him, his acceleration, getting around the corners there and also having the ability to find holes in the defense there. He is an all-around great running back there. Has the ability to bounce uh outside there and also shift through the traffic up the middle there. But this guy has got some speed to him. And in the open field, the athleticism. I mean one of his main highlights he had from back in I believe, the 2020 season was him hurtling a guy in the open field there. I mean you talk about athleticism. This guy's got the athleticism. He's got the ability to read a defense and also change direction on a dime and also change direction on a dime. This guy is going to be a force to be reckoned with, with Green Bay adding him in there with a backfield of AJ Dillon and also having Josh Jacobs already, he is going to be set up in a prime spot to produce for the Green Bay Packers there and possibly develop into a number one back for Green Bay down the road. I mean you're talking about Josh Jacobs here right away, but this is a guy who has the ability to develop into something good for the Green Bay Packers moving forward. So with that I got through the three rounds there. My mistake on missing that Marshawn Lloyd pick there. But before we move on and get to the rest of the draft here, I just wanted to mention the last couple of our sponsors here.

Speaker 1:

Speaker 1:

But with that we made it to round four. I was there already, but I had to go back and talk about Marshawn Lloyd there, so we talk about now we have Evan Williams there with that 111th pick, the safety out of Oregon. This came from the New York Jets trade. He actually started at Fresno State, ended up at Oregon there and led the Ducks in tackles in his only season there. Right now, I mean this is a guy who gets after the run. You look at every guy the Packers got in this draft here and you're going to talk about aggression. You're going to talk about guys who aren't afraid to get themselves, get dirty and get into the backfield and make tackles. That is what you love to see, especially with a guy in Heffley coming in who loves to play aggressive. This is a team that is going to play aggressive right with them there. So I love what the Packers did in this draft Evan Williams coming into Green Bay out of Oregon playing at a pretty good program there in Oregon and I mean we're talking about a guy who had a 4.56 40-yard dash there at his pro day.

Speaker 1:

Now you're talking to a guy who ran. I think I ran like a 5. I think I ran like a 5 one time but I think I I cheated the system. But either way, I mean I 4.5 is pretty darn fast to me and this is a pretty big guy 5, 11, 200 pounds. They're coming out of oregon and this is a guy who is going to be a force. And I mean just talking about we talked about there before the safety and jV and Bullard there coming out of Georgia. This is the same style guy. This is a guy who loves I mean he has. He's a ball hawk, he undercuts routes like it's his job. I mean it is his job. But this is a guy who is going to be a force to be reckoned with with Green Bay at some point here.

Speaker 1:

The safety realm. They needed some. They could. I, I mean you could always use extra help out there, right, and this is a guy I mean you. You watch his highlight tape. There had a couple of good plays against usc. They're sacking caleb williams in the backfield and then also, I mean had another sack there against uh, utah in his game against utah. There a couple of good plays against utah. So this is a guy who's going to be a disruptor. You, you can send him on a blitz, you can drop him back into coverage and you're not going to lose anything out of this guy. Evan Williams is a fantastic safety coming out of Oregon there.

Speaker 1:

So that leads us into the two picks in round five for the Green Bay Packers. They had two picks in that round. It looks like they had the 163rd pick there. That was from. The Buffalo Bills is where they drafted that one.

Speaker 1:

They got Jacob Monk, the center, out of Duke.

Speaker 1:

This is a guy I mean he is a traditional center.

Speaker 1:

That is the only spot he plays. He plays center and he has got some speed to him there. I mean Monk, he can get off the ball, he gets off the ball quick and he him there. I mean Monk, he can get off the ball, he gets off the ball quick and he's got. I mean you want initial pop. This guy gives you initial pop 6'3", 308 pounds of pure man coming at you there and I mean all around. You know. You look at Duke and you say I've never trusted guys coming out of these kind of schools. I mean that's a basketball place, right. I mean they're not known for their football guys. But he's a guy who can get to the next level. He's going to get to that linebackers and he's going to be able to read them. He is better in pass covers than what he's going to be in run. But he's got enough tools in his toolbox that I believe he can develop into being that guy.

Speaker 1:

Now is he going to be that guy right off the bat for Green Bay? I don't think so. But you look at this guy. He's a solid pass, like I said, solid pass blocker, and he's going to be able to anchor down the middle of the offense. He's going to be able to anchor it. I really do think he can. I I'm not I'm not opposed to this pick. Now they I mean look at him at duke they did move him out to the guard spot a little bit there and he did make some solid plays out there. But I mean, he's a center. He's a center by trade and where the Packers choose to use him now, knowing that he has that versatility, the ability to possibly be on the outside for you at that guard spot, not a bad dealio there. But this is a solid pickup by Green Bay. They need offensive line help. They found a guy who can possibly kick out to a guard spot if needed down the road, possibly kick out to a guard spot if needed down the road. So that led into what I thought was one of the better picks in the draft by green bay and this was at the 169 spot there.

Speaker 1:

Ketan, uh, ola dappo there out of oregon state, 6 to 216 pounds guy. I mean we talk about safeties with good size. I mean we're talking about a guy with some long arms and some decent speed to him there. But we're talking about a guy who you can line them up on tight ends. You're going to be able to line this guy up on tight ends and be able to get away with it. You're going to be able to do a lot of things with Oladapo that you look at these other linebackers, like Bullard and like we talked about there with Evan Williams, this is a guy in Oladapo with. He's got the ability to be a high I mean a high-grade safety for you there.

Speaker 1:

Now will he be an all-pro? Maybe not, but I think this is a guy who can be. He's going to be a force to be reckoned with in that secondary for green bay. He gets into the backfield. He makes some high level plays. I believe he had one against caleb williams where he came off that left side on a blitz there and ran down caleb williams in the backfield and he's got a couple of forced fumbles. I mean this guy is all around a great, great defender and he is a. I mean you know, you look at, like I said before, with a lot of these players that Green Bay has gotten in this draft here or that they got in this draft here and all aggressive, all great tackling players and something that green bay is going to need here moving forward in heffley's defense. So this is just another piece of the puzzle. Right, this is another piece to the puzzle.

Speaker 1:

That I believe green bay really needed was another aggressive safety, another aggressive secondary guy to bring into this team, and that's what they got here with uh, oladapo there. I mean, looking at him, he like I'm watching this highlight tape here and I I mean I'm just on the espn. They just show some of the better highlights that they had there on their draft profiles. But you watch this guy and after he gets him the backfield you know he's covering this running back here, blows up the play in the backfield there. He's on the tight, tight end, undercuts Terrell for a pick there. He had that sack against Caleb Williams, like I was talking about. This is a solid add by Green Bay and it might have been a steal of a pick there in the fifth round, ninth ranked overall safety in the entire draft.

Speaker 1:

This is a solid pickup by the Green Bay Packers there and that moves us off into the sixth round, where the Packers did get the offensive tackle out of Georgia State. We saw this guy. If you watch the Badgers there, the Badgers did get to see Georgia State. So we saw this guy a little bit there. 6'6", 323 pounds, that is a big man. That is a big man coming at you there out of Georgia State, played a little bit of left tackle, right tackle and left guard. He's a versatile guy and he's a good run blocker there and he can play with an edge. I mean this is a guy who's got some long arms and he's quick in getting into pass protection, so he's an all-around great run block and pass blocking tackle, can play a little bit of guard. Versatility that's what we kept hearing from Gutekens is he wants some versatility out of his offensive linemen and that's what he's getting in. Another one there in Travis Glover there, coming out of Georgia State. So that leads us into the seventh round.

Speaker 1:

This is where I mean we were going to figure out who Mr Irrelevant is there Jalen Key out of Alabama. Jalen Key ended up being Mr Irrelevant safety out of Alabama. That could be a solid pick. I mean he went to Alabama so he's got something behind him.

Speaker 1:

But Green Bay in the 245th pick of the draft they got Michael Pratt out of Tulane. There Number eight ranked quarterback. That tells you how. I mean it was top heavy in the position rank for quarterbacks but then it dropped off heavy. You're talking about a guy, michael Pratt. He was the eighth position rank but I mean you look at his grade there 55 overall. Four-year starter there at Tulane and he progressed over his career there. He has the ability to find the open man. He's got a good idea of reading defenses and fitting the ball into tight windows there. So Michael Pratt is a solid add. I mean you have Sean Clifford already. We know about Jordan Love, so you're just adding a little bit more depth there in the quarterback room could be a solid ad for green bay, just like I said, to have some depth there all the way around.

Speaker 1:

And then, last but not least, they got the cornerback out of uh, penn state there, kaylin king. They're a little bit smaller, 5, 11, 191 pounds, but he's a press corner and he's tough, he's physical, he's going to get against some big wide receivers out there and he's going to be tough on him. He had 16 pass breakups over the past two seasons and I mean he's a guy who's going to get on you, he's going to get under routes, he's going to try to pluck that ball out of the air there and make some competitive catches out there. So Packers wrap up the draft there with that 255th pick of Kalen King there. So that's a wrap up of the Green Bay Packers 2024 NFL draft.

Speaker 1:

I'm hoping to get my counterparts on here, austin and Rogan here, pretty soon to really recap this draft here and see what we thought there. I mean, you can hear it I was recently on a show Brutally On A Sports there, brutally On A Sports podcast, and we talked about the NFL draft there in a whole and what we thought of the whole thing. Not a super lot, not a crazy amount of craziness in this draft. Crazy amount of craziness in this draft. I guess the only weird one I would say was the Michael Pennix to the Falcons. That was a weird one, but outside of that, not a whole lot crazy happening in this last draft year. So that wraps up the NFL draft recap there. I hope it was a good one. I mean I was just reading through some of the bios and everything like that, learning about these guys, watching some of the highlight tapes, and I hope I did a good job for you guys there, kind of recapping that NFL draft there. But with that I mean last but not least for the day here we got to talk about the Bucs real fast here.

Speaker 1:

The Bucs do have the pacers coming up here game five of this eastern conference opening round series and well, the bucks are in trouble. The bucks are in trouble and I don't know if they're going to be able to figure this one out. Uh, you're possibly. We're talking about no dame. No, yannis middleton is, I mean, as far as I can tell, banged up and you're heading into this game five of the series back at home. Even if you win, you head into game six with still question marks on those two guys and you know you bring them back in this series. Yet they're not 100%. They re-injured something. Now you could potentially lose them for next season. Where does that leave you? So I mean there's lots of good, bad and ugly that is still left to happen with this Bucs team. I'm hoping it goes six. I'm hoping they can force another game here, but it doesn't happen. Often you come back from the 3-1 deficit. So hopefully some good to come out of the bucks tonight here.

Speaker 1:

Hopefully the brewers don't get screwed over by the umpires once again and hopefully we get another apology from the mlb. I hope so. I hope so we can pin it to the wall, we can put it on the fridge, we can put it on the fridge at american family Field Another apology letter from the MLB. We can say thank you, thank you. We'll put it next to the other one from yesterday. So fantastic stuff there.

Speaker 1:
