How are we doing on this Wednesday?

Speaker 2:

I'm absolutely great man, I can't complain. I am still riding the high of our victory or the Lions in very profound fashion. And yeah, I'm like. I mean I think you know this week has been really crazy at work, so that's been like insane. But at the end of the day, just to see the amount of joy that I received not just from Sunday, because Sunday was great, I think all Packer fans can relate but then to see what happened on Monday night and to watch those two dysfunctional teams go at it, and it was just like you know, someone had like told two like you know sheep and they put like blindfolds on them and they told them to you know know, like graze the yard and they didn't know what they were doing that's what it felt like, it was amazing like to watch these two first round pick quarterbacks who were basically being halted as, like the, the next generational talents of the nfl, and they both look pretty subpar.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, I feel great, like it great. It seems like this weekend was just a weekend of giving us a lot of joy. How are you doing?

Speaker 1:

How have you been Right in the high. It was a good weekend with that. Brewers got a serious sweep over the Pirates, even though now these Rangers just want to get out of Texas. I keep saying that every time I come back. It's like I just want to get out of Texas. I'm so sick of this place right now. Um, badgers got a win, yet it was ugly, and now they got bama, so we'll see how that all goes I mean it's, it's good, I'm riding the high.

Speaker 1:

I haven't stopped smiling since I've seen micah parsons chase down jared goff. That was the craziest one yes, I would say that sack, because he just like he wasn't there and then he was there, like he just came out of the pile and then was just in a full fledged pursuit and it was like matt lafleur is like ah, how did he say he's like he's shot out of a cannon or whatever?

Speaker 1:

yes just something crazy and I was like, yeah, it was what it was like. It was exactly what it was like. But I mean, give me your thoughts. I mean the whole micah parsons thing what were your?

Speaker 1:

thoughts on him coming out last, like that was, was pretty cool seeing Matt LaFleur call him the night before and say, hey, you want to come out last. Usually Xavier McKinney would come out last, but he's like give him his moment. I mean, just give me your thoughts on giving Micah Parsons his moment first time in Lambeau, running out of that tunnel.

Speaker 2:

I think it shows you the camaraderie that this team has, considering the fact that they could easily like you know, people could get in their feelings and get it. You know they can get in their emotions about certain things, but the fact that he was able to do that Xavier McKinney was in full support of it and the ovation that he got was absolutely amazing I mean, other than big Mike being there to be, you know, celebrated for the 2010 team just to see just the ovation and the team and just everything. And the funny thing is, from the moment he stepped onto the field after his name was announced, it seems like that energy and that support did not end until the game was over and then it followed into the locker room. What I mean by that is you just saw the players galvanize and just get this rally around this guy for everything he did, because, yeah, he may have only had one sack, but his presence on the field was known. On the limited, I think he had only like 30 snaps and, yeah, for a guy to come in 30 snaps to play the way he did and honestly like, like you said, that play when he's shot out of a cannon and then he's just running this dude down, like. I know that edwin Cooper is like the Michael Myers incarnate. He loves doing the Halloween stuff. That's what that felt like. That felt like Freddy Krueger walking down a victim of his and I'm not going to lie it just seemed like from the beginning of the game to the end of the game it was just this energy that was just going through the whole team and you could just feel it across the board.

Speaker 2:

And I think someone said on a radio show earlier today was this guy missed all training camp. He hasn't been like, actually like, and he just only had two practices. And for him to have that kind of presence with two practices, it's pretty wild to think like he even said himself today and there's a, you know his interviews that he did that. Imagine how we're going to look in week five, and I'm like, all right that he did that. Imagine how we're going to look in week five and I'm like, all right, we after week five, because week fives are by right. So imagine week six when he comes out and now he's fully integrated into the defense.

Speaker 2:

He's a part of the. He's even more so, not just part of the game plan, but like knows from more like more so, from practicing and working with his guys like, okay, I know what lucas. I mean he's been the biggest hype man for cooper and lucas van ness and roshan gary, right and just now then, when what they're good at, what they're not good at and where they can kind of lean on each other, I'm sky's the limit, man. I'm just saying this. That week one has, really, think, set our standards kind of high and I'm I'm just excited, how about you, man? What do you think?

Speaker 1:

I love. Okay, so you basically just went through my next point that I was going to talk about. It was the Micah Parsons effect on this team. Right, the Micah Parsons effect, and we saw it in full-fledged that Evan Williams interception was caused by Micah Parsons. He got around Seawall there and he just caused that interception because Goff had to get rid of it.

Speaker 1:

Then you see, I love the package. Jeff Affle did a phenomenal job in week one. He threw Micah Parsons on the outside, he threw Gary on the opposite and he slid Lucas Van Ness to the inside. And I love that, because Lucas Van Ness could just bull rush. He could just be himself just bull rush. Don't worry about a contained kind of component to your job.

Speaker 1:

Just get the quarterback, and that's what he did. Lucas Van Ness looked a thousand times better. Uh, davante wyatt looked great. His pass rush grade actually came in at a 72. He was phenomenal, according to pff, but he was phenomenal. Just watching him, davante, why it was great? Uh, another guy that I saw that got better kobe wouldn't.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he looked great he looked phenomenal and he looks jacked, he looks like I see why he's starting. I now know Like we were kind of questioning at first. We're like how did he, you know, earn that job? Whatever, I see it now, I really do, I see it now and I just love the Micah Parsons effect. Just made everybody else on this defense that much better. The hype, this defense that much better. The hype, the, the, just the flow, the feeling that these guys have they.

Speaker 1:

Just they feel good right now. Yeah, you could see it in their play. You could see. I mean we forgot that edgar and cooper was even playing because we're all so focused in on micah parsons that edgar and cooper is just secretly having this phenomenal game and we didn't even like watch it to see it. He just looked great out there.

Speaker 1:

And one thing that I just want to talk about the run defense. I heard and this is just what I heard. I don't know it's all crazy talk, but kenny clark was leaving and they were all like oh, you know, I I heard dallas media and lions media and everything wow, kenny clark's leaving. This run defense for green bay just got a thousand times worse. Micah parsons can't play the run. What are they going to do now against the run? They're not going to be able to stop the run. The Lions had 46 yards between Jameer Gibbs, montgomery Williams, goff, 46 yards in total on 22 carries. There was nothing there. They only had 22 carries because there was nothing there in the run game. So I don't know where it got worse. Just talk to me about the run game. What did you love to see out of the run defense in this game, because I mean 46 yards on 22 carries. 2.1 was the average for jameer gibbs and david montgomery.

Speaker 2:

I mean honestly, like I think, knowing how dan campbell is a run first coach, he loves running the ball. Yeah, they like taking their shots, but at the day he's pretty old school guy, he likes to run the ball. You know jamar gibbs comes into the league this year as a guy who I mean in fantasy football he was going like top five picks. I know people aren't big on fantasy, but that just shows you like the kind of expectations that they were having for him. And then on top of that too, david Montgomery was still going pretty high too, because the two of them as a one-two hit was a pretty big deal. They showed that last year. And for us to not only stymie that but to make them obsolete, I mean I know we took a lead relatively early, but Detroit's the kind of team that doesn't really get out of. Like it wasn't like we had like a four score lead or something you know, like the game was still in a way where they could still run the ball and they had no success. I mean you have Jamar Gibbs, who is also a great receiving back 10 catches, 30 yards. Yeah, he had 10 catches because you know you had to dump it off because the pressure was getting him off. But he did nothing with that.

Speaker 2:

And I think what I really enjoyed watching this defense do was watching the guys rally to the ball carry. I remember Joe Barry's first year. I'm not a big Joe Barry guy you guys know my disdain for this man but his first year as a DC what we noticed with his like the defense was playing. They were playing with their heads on fire, right, they were like rallying to the ball, making tackles, things like that. You're seeing that with a half-league defense, but also with a lot more aggression, a lot more intensity.

Speaker 2:

And I think it can't go without being said that the difference that our defensive line has looked from the last couple years without Kenny Clark and how that looks now with Mr Covington coaching and I made a joke to myself yesterday I was like could you imagine what this defense would look like with Kenny Clark? I'm just saying like it's already pretty sick. And could you imagine if 97 was in that middle too? Right, I don't even know It'd be. It would be almost unfair at that point. Right, I don't even know, it would be almost unfair at that point. But the fact that we were able to do this after we lost not just a great person but a great player, kenny Clark, who is probably poised for a great year coming back from his injury.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I think that we exceeded expectations and I think we have a great test coming ahead of us here, because I know we're going to be talking about it here soon, but the commanders- I mean they ran like 243 yards on the giants and the giants have a pretty solid defensive line and yeah, I think you know this is going to be a great test for seeing just if we were just really that good or was detroit really that bad. I'm not trying to take anything away from the win like please don't get me wrong but I'm kind of hoping that it's more so the earlier than the latter you.

Speaker 1:

You know, and I said it earlier, I don't Detroit's going to be fine, like they're going to be a solid team this year. Dan Campbell figured out you had to replace two coordinators that I don't think fans or anybody else realized were that important to this team until this first game. And now you realize like there's still a lot of talent on that team, it's just they're very dysfunctional right now.

Speaker 2:

And.

Speaker 1:

Like there's still a lot of talent on that team, it's just they're very dysfunctional right now and, like Kirby Joseph, you didn't even hear his name.

Speaker 2:

He was not employed.

Speaker 1:

Invisible. Yes, there were so many. Even Aiden Hutchinson, like you heard his name, maybe called. His name was called one important time and that's when he depleted Jordan Love and it was an illegal hit and then he got everything like screwed up. And then, on that same place, tom heard yes, so actually you heard his name in a terrible way in that one there, but there is a guy who's gonna have something to say about that.

Speaker 1:

Run game for the commanders quay walker oh, you look amazing I actually loved what I saw to quay walker in week one. I really did his what we talked about last year. He can't what we talked about last year. He can't get off a block. He can't get off a block. He can't fill the holes right. It seemed like he was always in the wrong spot at the wrong. He's never in the right spot. Let's go with that. And he was good at pass coverage, but he wasn't good in run defense. I thought he was great in this game in run defense. I don't know, did he grade well in the run defense? 61.

Speaker 2:

It wasn't great, it wasn't terrible, it was 61.

Speaker 1:

He was like average.

Speaker 2:

Solid. It didn't look average no.

Speaker 1:

I don't think 61 I thought was kind of low. I thought he was pretty good in run defense. Anyways, I'll take 61. Pff sometimes is just whatever they think.

Speaker 1:

A little wonky yeah we've talked about the pressures that they grade and everything. It can all be different, but I thought Quay Walker was great. I think Edgerick Cooper is phenomenal and I love your point there about them rallying to the football and that's the juice that we were talking about. All these guys are playing like they all need to earn a paycheck, yet Like they haven't all earned a paycheck. Quay Walker is a guy who hasn't earned his paycheck.

Speaker 2:

Was Quay extended? No, not yet. No, not yet. His fifth-year option, I think, was activated, but Devontae Wyatt's was not.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, Yep, there you go. So I mean Quay is still playing for that paycheck right now. So you have a lot of guys in this defense who are still playing for that next payday right now. Maybe you're seeing that right now out of some of these guys and that little extra juice that they're bringing, but it's definitely that micah parsons effect there. So kind of just speak to me about that linebacker core right now and maybe, if you want to shoot in that secondary right now, because the secondary still there's some good in there, but there's still some scary.

Speaker 1:

Because keratin valentine's great. I think he's gonna be really good.

Speaker 2:

But and the flip side of that, keisha nixon, yeah, I still don't know with him, I don't part of me was very upset how keishon kept letting amasai brown get like easy completions underneath routes, right, but I think it was by design, like the way he was. When he's protecting the outside, he's protecting the like the fly around. He's also like protecting the sideline, I feel like. So he was trying to push him inside, so he's like well, if I push him inside, he catches the ball. That's fine, because the defense is all there, right, and they're going to make sure that he doesn't get anything right, which I think was like the idea. And then, when it came to Valentine, they said that minus the playoffs, I think in regular season, maybe in playoffs because I don't know that goddard uh touchdown was on him technically.

Speaker 2:

He hasn't given up a touchdown since 2023 yep, week 14 to 20 I just got that just came across twitter, as you were saying to me week, and I'm just like, yeah, and isaac tesla ran an awesome route and he, you know, he made. He also made like a basic odell beckham jr.

Speaker 1:

Catch right, it wasn't like it was an easy catch, right so I was a darn good catch. That was awesome like yeah, 100.

Speaker 2:

I was like, okay, well, you know you took, you know you tilt your hat to that. You're like, all right, well, that's respect, right? Yeah, um, I think that you saw xavier mckinney. I mean, he had moments. He got called on a really bogus taunting call which I thought was really dumb.

Speaker 2:

Uh, uh, evan williams has proven that he definitely is, uh, not a reach when he was a fourth round pick coming out of oregon and he's showing why he was the best player on that defense. Justice muscato, thank you for that. And when it comes to jevon bullard playing the slot, I just feel like you. Our secondary had their moments of games somewhat tested, but it wasn't too bad because our front seven was on fire. Yeah, like you say about the linebackers quay walker, edgar and cooper, even isaac duffy they all had good games. Again, when they're playing that base defense and the linebacker gets put on a receiver, it's the most infuriating thing in the world. But you know, next week sorry this thursday we're gonna really see them get tested, because I feel like the weapons for Washington are very similar to what we have in Detroit.

Speaker 1:

When it comes to skill set.

Speaker 2:

When it comes to talent, debo Samuel is not really like. He looked really good last week. Terry McLaurin I've loved him since day one. Zach Hurst is an old, wily veteran. And then, of course, the rookie, jacory Merritt, bill, who just look like fresh legs out there. So you know like. And then, of course, you can't take away, you know, jaden Daniels, basically a rookie of the year and just an absolute amazing football player as a quarterback and just just as a leader. Yeah, this defense is definitely going to be tested, but again, parsons is used to playing this Washington team like there's nothing new for him, which is a which is a good thing for us.

Speaker 1:

I would say you know, and going back to your point there, both the secondary and the front seven playing like they're on fire. I would say that we finally have the front seven going. That's going to make the secondaries job a lot easier.

Speaker 2:

We talked about it.

Speaker 1:

Last year, no pass rush made the secondary look worse. I think now you can kind of get away with it. It's just going to be a matter of if you get against a team who you know and the Lions, they have a lot of young guys on that line too, so they're still working through some of their you know young struggles. When you see the Lions the second time around, their adjustments, do you make those adjustments and how does your secondary respond to that too? Because you know a Dan Campbell team is not going to play worse the second time around. They're gonna get better. And a team like the commanders is playing well and you know you're gonna have teams on this schedule. It's a pretty tough schedule. I mean, you look ahead. There's a lot of tough opponents on there, so you're gonna have some tough games. So it's a question of how does the secondary respond, and it was. It was the second touchdown in his career that he was alone dude since 2023.

Speaker 1:

So that's the first one since 2023, though, but he's only allowed to do in his entire career. That's awesome to see how to carry to valentine there. I would say, yeah, my only worry is on the back side there, nixon, and, like you said, I mean he was maybe just doing what he was told. You know, keep protect the outside, force him, and I can see that, uh, bullard did play a lot in that base. He was playing a lot of safety, so that's something to keep an eye on. There, too, was bullard playing a lot in that safety spot there? But you're gonna see that mix, because bullard he's definitely, definitely gonna be in that mix there. That safety back to the slot. You're gonna see him work around there a little bit. So we're gonna come back here on the back side of this ad break. We're gonna preview, we're gonna wrap up the lions preview ahead and look at that commander's game coming up, what we want to see and what we hope to see against the commanders coming up.

Speaker 2:

We'll be right back. You know it's under pressure right now you're concrete.

Speaker 1:

That's why it's on level right now and that's why you need to call our friends at b and h concrete lifting. They're gonna help you out. Tired of tripping over that sunken driveway? Maybe that patio? Your sidewalk's causing you trouble? We're getting close to winter right now. You're worried about your shovel because you're just going to be going along and I've been there, we've all been there. You got the shovel in front of your gut. Maybe you're shoveling along, you hit that little lip and all of a sudden, boom, there you go, lost your breath, you pass out in the driveway. It's just a whole thing. You don't want that. Call bnh concrete. Before that happens, call them. They'll come over. They'll flatten that thing out like brand new. You'll be able to put a level out there, you'll be able to set a ball out there and it won't roll into a little crevice. That's all you need to know. Bnh concrete lifting have. Let them help you get your concrete right. So, ummer, back for the break. Here we haven't.

Speaker 1:

We haven't exactly talked about the offense yet for the green bay packers coming off that lions game. We talked a lot of defense, and rightfully so. The defense was great in this one. We didn't even talk about Rashawn, gary, he was fantastic. We didn't talk about I mean a lot about Cooper, he was fantastic. Mckinney was great. The defense was good all the way around.

Speaker 1:

I don't think there was really a outside of like worrying about the secondary. I don't think there was a real spot on this like defense where you're like this was bad. So let's look over at the offense, because there was definitely. I would say the offense was more or less the spot where you could look and say you had some issue. Maybe the run game didn't really get going. Josh jacobs I wish they could have got him downhill a little bit more. You just didn't see it in that one. So, ummer, I mean the run game, was it a worry for you? Are you not so worried? I mean, they got him a touchdown later out of the game. He kept that streak alive there, but they just weren't able to really open up any holes for josh jacobs in this one to get downhill and get going. So I mean, what were your thoughts on the run game coming off this one?

Speaker 2:

I think I you know, following some of the guys that I follow on twitter. Um, they were saying that the linebackers are crashing really hard for detroit, so they were doing everything they can to stop the run, no matter what right. Even with that being said, the run blocking based on our offense line wasn't the greatest and that josh jacobs does make up for a lot of it, and even he was having some struggles right. So we did get a touchdown, but again, they were doing everything they can to kind of get us out of the run and force us to throw, which then then put the ball in Jordan's hand. He was able to light him up pretty well and be extremely efficient throwing the ball.

Speaker 2:

I'm not worried about the run game as of right now, but I do feel that, as the season goes on, we need to get a little more consistent and be more positive in that way, because we have seen how good this team can be when they're in a balanced offense, and the thing any Packer fan can agree with me on this is that what we've noticed is, in the first half, the packers look great and it seems like no matter what team it is, no matter what quarterback it is. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter, coach, none of it. We always look terrible in the third quarter.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, we always take a step back, we take the foot off the pedal, we do three runs in a row and then we're punting. It's just crazy stuff that don't even make no sense, right, and it's just like I don't know if they're resetting or what's going on. Right, they reboot the system, but it just doesn't look very efficient at all. In the third quarter, and then it seems like fourth quarter, they wake up and they kind of get their head out of their you-know-what and they start moving in the right direction. Honestly, if you take away the actual running aspect, when it comes to things that they had to do Josh Jacobs, chris Brooks they were absolutely amazing at pass blocking and I think, as a running back, having know having that extra blocker back there who knows what he's doing, knows how to pass guys off, and I mean Brooks looked like Brooks was taking on defensive tackles.

Speaker 2:

I mean I'm just saying like I'm not wasn't extremely impressed with the run game, but again, it's one of those things where, like sometimes these games, when you're playing against a divisional opponent who know you extremely well, sometimes there's things you just can't get away with right, and so I want to see how we fare against Washington, because you know they've redone their defensive line. You know they got some pretty good guys out there Kinlaw Hargrave, you know, they brought back Fowler, you know. And then of course Ron Payne is still there. So I'm really interested to see, like, how we fare against them, because you know, look at the way the floor has been able to be he has always had Dan Quinn's number. Anytime he's played Dan Quinn defense, he just eviscerates them. I hope I'm not, like you know, jinxing us here, knock on wood, but he just finds a way to be able to kind of expose dan quinn's defenses.

Speaker 1:

So it'll be interesting to see if he can keep that streak going. Yeah, yeah, no, and you mentioned blocking there and I I do agree, I love the blocking. Chris brooks and josh jacobs in that game, and I did see a couple video. Uh, they did. You know, I watched the game, but I was watching the video of chris brooks taking on some of those, uh, defensive tackles coming through. I'm he did a pretty darn good job too of keeping him out of there. But looking at the switch, so Zach Tom gets hurt on that point I talked about earlier and Kennard comes in. I thought Kennard played really well.

Speaker 2:

I agree.

Speaker 1:

Really well in that game and against some pretty good pass rush too. So it's going to make it interesting when we do see Zach Tom come back, what they do. Because if he's going to make it interesting when we do see, you know, zach Tom come back, what they do, because if he's going to be out against the Commanders, you expect we're going to see Kennard again. Kennard plays well again. I mean, you're going to see maybe some guys moving around, moving pieces again. We could maybe see it again. We saw Jordan Morgan kind of moving around in there. So maybe we see some more movement in there. I don't know movement in there, I don't know. We'll see what happens with that one there. This offense though, I mean they look good. Jordan Love looked good. He was making some. Jordan Love made some darn good throws in this game. That throw to Reed, that was money.

Speaker 1:

That was nasty the throw to Dobbs was awesome that one deep one there. I think he had another big throw, I can't remember.

Speaker 2:

The.

Speaker 1:

Kraft throw Touchdown over the middle. There that was money. He once again took some shots and I don't know if you can really. He took some shots where he could have just Then we ran.

Speaker 2:

He looked like silly body running out there like bro, like oh my God yeah.

Speaker 1:

I mean he had some throws where it's like he had. Okay, he took the shot, but he could have just dumped her to Kraft for a good 10, 15 yards and been fine.

Speaker 2:

I know exactly what you're talking about. Zach Tucker Kraft was open right underneath and he went deep and I was like it's those like things where he's he's a highly aggressive quarterback, right where we're not always used to that because, you know, rogers had his moments, but a lot of times he would be a little more conservative. So, like you said, he just needs to kind of like sometimes just take the gimme instead of trying to take the. You know know, go for six every time.

Speaker 1:

That's why I was okay with that second half. A lot of people are like why didn't the Packers blow them out? Cause it was like they were on that way to it and they kind of went conservative. And I was like I'm okay with that because Jordan love he, I love him. He makes good throws, he can be a dominant, great quarterback, but sometimes he gets crazy, yeah, and if he got too crazy with it, as we saw, there was that interception that he did, throw that got called back and then he had that the odd one craft that anzalone like had in his hands and dropped it.

Speaker 1:

It's like that's the jordan love that you get scared of making those bad decisions.

Speaker 1:

So you're glad that those got called back. It's not going to show up on his box score, but we remembered those and we're like okay, now we maybe see why matt lafleur said let's go conservative a little bit here in the second half, kind of just not put the brake on, because you don't want to put the brake on completely, but maybe don't get crazy with it and just let your, because the defense was playing so well. Why would you force the number? Why would you force it? The defense is playing so great until they stop playing great and you have daniel wheelan who can flip the field so easy why get crazy with?

Speaker 1:

it just let let the let those things work themselves out. So I was okay, I mean, with the concern. So like, all in all, were you okay? Second half it seemed like I don't know if they got conservative, but it seemed like they kind of slowed down. Were you okay with that in that second half?

Speaker 2:

yeah, because at the day they weren't giving up anything on defense and with your right tackle being out and you want to make sure that you're protecting jordan too, yeah, I'm okay with that. I mean, it was one of those times where, you know, belton would got a couple snaps at right tackle, so I was fine with that as well. But at the day, you know, you had the game in the bag, you were pretty confident with the way things were going. Yeah, like why should I sit there and think about it like this too? You don't want to put too much on tape. You know it's week one. You know you want to keep teams guessing a little bit. You don't want to put everything out there.

Speaker 2:

So again, I think in the past we've had situations where in the second, come back and try to play better, you know. Or like we saw last year, where the defense played well in the first half and, oh sorry, we would get behind early in the first half and then the defense will wake up in the second half, but now you're down four scores and your offense needs to now play catch up, right, yeah, so this is one, that one of the few times where in the last two, three years where we were able to not only score first on Detroit, but then also stymie them at the same time too. I haven't seen us have a complete game like this in a very long time. That's, I think, the most encouraging thing with everything.

Speaker 1:

No, it's been like a year or two. At least it's been a while.

Speaker 2:

Detroit comes to Green Bay, and they basically made it like Ford Field Junior. It was embarrassing. Yeah, you know, basically made it like fort field junior. It was embarrassing. Yeah, you know, he had so much hollow blue in the stands too. It was just like I love. Oh, he was. Yeah, when you call that out, I was like my man, I appreciate it, I was all for it.

Speaker 1:

I was like you do it, man, you you tell them because it is a problem. It is definitely a problem, and I know there's a lot of fans out there who don't want to hear it, but you got to stop selling your tickets off to lions fans I, just because they're going to pay top dollar for it.

Speaker 2:

I don't care Of course, and my thing is like I understand everyone's hurting for money, but, man, like there's something about the lore of Green Bay. When you come to Green Bay and you just see in the stands our colors only, you may see a little bit of our team, but very rarely.

Speaker 1:

And over the last few years that has really kind of taken a turn, which I don't like at all. It's what makes philly philly it really is. You get them crazy, terrible fans up there, like that lady who stole that home run ball from that poor kid, and it's just like it's just like, you got those fans out there and that's what makes exactly great.

Speaker 2:

That was a philly on philly hate too, I think. Philly on philly fan like philly fans don't know what to hate sometimes yeah, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 1:

They hate their team, they hate each other. It's a whole thing, philly fans are different. They're built different out there. They don't know what to hate. That's why Reese Hoskins loved when he came to Milwaukee, because he's like thank you, I get out of that, because they don't know whether they're supposed to hate me or love me, because I'm on their team right now If hate me or love me because I'm on their team right now if I'm struggling they're gonna hate me.

Speaker 1:

That's all that. Oh, that's all that I know there. So let's look ahead. Commanders coming up here tomorrow that's gonna be a big game. The first thursday night game, or not first thursday night, but first thursday night for the packers there. It's the first one on prime, isn't it? I believe?

Speaker 2:

yes, it is first one there.

Speaker 1:

So I mean, yeah, you get to watch it on fantastic amazon prime, so great for everybody who gets to do that. But what are we looking at? So what do we want to see against this Commanders team from the Green Bay Packers?

Speaker 2:

I think, on offense, I kind of want to see them continue pushing the ball downfield, trying to be aggressive and trying to dictate to the defense how they want to go about this game. I think our defense, if it keeps playing the way it is you can take your shots, you can make a couple mistakes. You have a defense that can help make up for it right. They said Jason Wolde had a great thing on one of his shows just recently. He said that how LaTroy Butler and Reggie White and those guys would tell Favre hey, you play your game, don't worry about making mistakes, don't worry about making interceptions, we'll get you the ball back. And more often than not they did and I feel like you're going to see maybe a little bit of that in Green Bay. On offense and on defense, I kind of just want to see us find a way to contain Jaden Daniels right, because he is a superstar. If he's not a superstar already, he's a superstar to make it right and he has a very like almost like eloquent way that he plays. And I mean that I'm a big LSU guy anyways, I'm a big Jaden Daniels guy but just the way he plays it's like almost like he's graceful out there and we have to take full advantage of their offense line.

Speaker 2:

Their offense line is young. They have a couple rookies starting. Brandon Coleman's a first-year guy. You have Josh Connolly Jr rookie at the right tackle spot. You need to take advantage of these guys. And Cliff Kingsbury is a good play caller. But LeFleur again, he's had his way with Quinn and with Kingsbury, so I'm hoping that we can continue that success. What do you think? What do you think are our best shots here?

Speaker 1:

I really want to see the run game get going.

Speaker 1:

I really do, I know we're talking a lot of crap about him right now and I know this is a good command. What we saw, in week one at least, and it was against the Giants, but I mean we saw a pretty good run defense. I want to see this Packers team come out and own the line of scrimmage. I don't care, and you know Matt LaFleur, I thought he did a good job play calling, but I thought he could have done a better job trying to spread it out a little bit. Maybe trying to spread it out for Josh Jacobs, trying to, you know, extend the defense right.

Speaker 1:

And I think Josh Jacobs involved, because if you're in a playoff game against the commanders, if they can just sit on your pass, that's where Jordan Love might get scary. So you got to be able to rely on a big back like Josh Jacobs to help carry the load, to help carry this team where you want it to go. So I'm looking at the run game, I'm looking at this offensive line and I'm saying, all right, show me what you got Elton Jenkins, you want to get all this money. Show me what you got canard, you want to earn some playing time. Show me what you have here, sean ryan, I mean all these guys.

Speaker 1:

They're kind of all in that limbo right now show me what you got out there and we're gonna see who's gonna make their money's worth right now. So that's where I'm kind of at right now is I want to see this offensive line earn it, because the past they did pretty good. Pass block, I mean, the past pass block was pretty darn good because, like we said, aiden Hutchinson and et cetera, we didn't hear a lot about him. So the pass block pretty darn good. Run block I mean it wasn't terrible. I'm not saying it was terrible. There were some moments, but it just never really got going.

Speaker 1:

And I just want to see them become road graders. I just want to see a game where they just come out and play bully ball own the line of scrimmage, own the trenches. You went in the trenches, you work your way out. I want to see him win in the trenches because I know the defense can and I want to see that again. I know the defense can. I want to see his offense will own the trenches and from there then we see the pass game get going, then we see all this stuff happening here. So that's where I'm at right now. But before I let you go, we saw some news and I just want to break it down really fast here because I got to get going here, because I got to get to the back from a break talk a little brewing. Get out of here for the day Christian Watson gets signed to an extension. One-year extension there. No Dobbs extension, no, nothing like that, but a Christian Watson extension. Just give me your thoughts. Just quick thoughts on that. Love it.

Speaker 2:

I love it. He was supposed to be Goody's first round wide receiver pick, but the Minnesota Vikings didn't want to play ball, so then he was the first pick of the second round. He signed him to a $13 million extension, so he's good until basically 2026, gives him a chance to come back from his ACL and not have to feel like he's in a lame duck year. I guess you would say right, and there's an opportunity to show that he's healthy and then maybe earn even a bigger contract. Easton Butler just put out something saying that multiple teams have reached out to Green Bay asking for the availability of Romeo Dobbs and that there's like two offers on the table right now. I say no, thank you. I think that Dobbs and Love have a real great connection, but I think when we come back after the bye week and we see watson, golden reed and dobbs out there and a four wires here split with tucker craft, I can't wait. You talk about speed on speed on speed with reliability.

Speaker 1:

let's go hey, you're talking wicks and musgrave, yet you guys yeah, I didn't even tell you yet they're.

Speaker 2:

They're in the wings waiting, so for me, I think it's a great signing. I think he has proven Watson has proven time and time again he's not just an amazing person on the field. He does everything correctly off the field during interviews he's just an ultimate team player. For a guy who could really probably get really upset and mad about not getting the ball this and that he's not a diva and I know that gets thrown out a lot for receivers but he's just a really good team player. He's a glue guy. He's the right dude that you have for your culture and I think you reward people like that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, no, I agree, I like it there. So, Elmer, I got to run here. Let the people know where to find you out there across social media.

Speaker 2:
