Join me as I share inspiring stories , incredible guests and tangible actions that will transform you into the healthiest version of you , that version of you that is fully restored and hopeful for all that is possible . Welcome back , everybody , to season two of the restoring hope podcast . I am so excited that you're here to join us and I'm really looking forward to what it is I have to share over the next two months . The other day , have you ever had a download happen to you where you're like you're just sitting there and a thought comes to you and then like literally , it's like this waterfall of thoughts just pouring into your brain and you're like I've got to write this stuff down Because if I don't , I might actually forget it . I don't know if you're there or not , but sometimes that happens to me . So , anyhow , I was listening to this podcast and it was about superpowers and it got me thinking those podcasts and it was about superpowers and it got me thinking . I was like you know what is my superpower ? And then when I started to think about it , I couldn't come up with just one . I came up with a lot of them . It was like there was one , then there was another one and then another , and next thing I knew I had a list of like eight different superpowers . And so then I was like , but which one is the most important ? And the more I really started to think about it and look at them and jot down information about each one and why each one was a superpower , it dawned on me that we can have multiple superpowers . I mean , think about your kid's favorite action figure hero , right ? Superman , iron man , batman . I don't know , does Batman actually have superpowers ? He has a lot of gadgets . I don't know if he has superpowers , but Superman has superpowers , right ? He has x-ray vision , he can fly . You know , Gosh , he's stronger than steel . All these incredible superpowers , and we as women , especially as moms , we have a large number of superpowers . So I am going to , every Tuesday for the next eight weeks , share with you one of our superpowers , and I want you to start taking note of these superpowers in your life and if you find that maybe this area , this particular superpower , isn't that strong . But I want to give you some little tips and tricks on how you can strengthen that superpower , because every single one of you can use your superpowers .
Speaker 1So the first one is purpose . So , the first one is purpose . Your purpose is your superpower .
Speaker 1Now , I recently just did a women's retreat and actually the theme of the women's retreat was anchored in purpose . I talk a lot about purpose and your God-given purpose , right , and the reason why is that when we are aligned with our God-given purpose , it brings clarity and focus into your life and when you have clarity and focus , it will help you to feel balanced and fulfilled . So so often women are like you know , I don't know , do I have work-life balance ? And I'm like we're never going to have work-life balance , because most of the times when people think of work-life balance , they're thinking of equal time . Do I work an equal number of hours as to the number of hours that I spend with my family ? And , quite honestly , that probably just is not that realistic for the majority of people . But I define work-life balance really is more of an alignment Do you feel as fulfilled in your work as you do in your family life . It's more about quality and not quantity . So when we are aligned with our purpose , we have a better feeling of balance and fulfillment . We feel fulfilled . When we are doing something that is not in alignment with what God is calling us to do , we will lack fulfillment , we will feel empty , we will like begrudge the work , and so I want you to really start thinking about what is your purpose Now ?
Speaker 1Here's something important to keep in mind your purpose may change as the seasons of your life change . So if you're a young mom with little kids , your purpose may be very different than five or 10 years later , as your kids get a little bit older and then , especially , as your kids start to leave the house . So know that , even if you are 100% , you knew that you were truly in line with God's calling at one point in your life . It is possible that your God-given purpose now is different than it was before , and don't be afraid to change course . So most of you know that I have four children and I've homeschooled those kiddos , gosh , since the beginning of time .
Speaker 1So I've homeschooled for over 20 years , and this is the first year that I am not homeschooling . I have graduated . My three oldest and my youngest is in 10th grade this year and we prayerfully made the decision to do something different and , to be honest with you , I feel very at peace with it because it was a prayerful consideration . At peace with it because it was a prayerful consideration and I really felt like God was saying that my time of homeschooling , that that is my primary focus , was changing . It was not something that I necessarily wanted to give up , but when you start to pray over what is it that God is calling you to do , what is best for you , what is best for your family , it brings in that clarity and focus right . So , going to this to figure out what is your purpose , listening to God's calling Now , I always give this little analogy of God .
Speaker 1Gives you that tiny little whisper to start with , and a lot of times you might feel like it's a gut feeling . You might describe it as that . Sometimes people even almost be like I don't know , is it just my thoughts ? Like , am I thinking this or is God actually whispering it to me ? But what I have discovered in my years of living is , if you don't listen to that gut feeling , that little whisper that is really God talking to you . He'll start to tap you on the shoulder and at first it's going to be this nice little tap and then it's going to be a little bit more of a you know , a hard tap , and then it's going to kind of be a little bit more of a little shove . And this is all because you're not listening right . And many times at this point you know that God is telling you to do something different . You know God is maybe telling that your purpose needs to change , but you're letting fear , insecurities , all these what if ? Scenarios come into play , and so you're not listening . And what I have found in my life experience is that then what happens is it's a six by six boulder that he slaps you up the side of the head with .
Speaker 1Now I don't mean that to say that God is an unloving God . I'm just saying that God will um , it could kind of get ugly sometimes if you don't listen to him . So listen to God's calling , that voice that is revealing to you what your purpose is . All right , and that way you can have this incredible confidence that comes when you are aligned with God's given purpose . The other incredible thing about purpose when you are aligned with your God-given purpose is that it acts as an incredible motivator . Now I'm just going to be totally honest with you Just because you're living out your God-given purpose does not mean that things are going to be easy , right . But when things get difficult , if you're truly aligned with the purpose that God is calling you to do , that purpose can be a motivator to continue during challenging times , because what it is that you're trying to accomplish is meaningful and worthwhile .
Speaker 1Now , so often in life , I find that we kind of get in this rut of doing something maybe is not really aligned with what God is calling us to do , but we're doing it because either one , we've always done it . Two , it brings in a great paycheck if it happens to be work related . Three , whatever it is that we think we'd like to try to do , like we're like . I really do believe God's calling me to do this might be scary because it's different , it's new . Maybe it seems far-fetched , maybe it's starting a new business , maybe it's going back to school , maybe it's quitting your job and , you know , going to work for a different company . Let's face it , change can feel really uncomfortable , right ? It is so amazing to me that people would choose a difficult situation that is unpleasant because they at least know what to expect , versus change that might bring about incredible benefits , incredible potential . But it's this unknown and this change , and so , as humans , we tend to stay with what we know , because it's comfortable , even if we hate it , isn't that crazy ? But when you're aligned with your purpose and things are challenging , it really does act as this motivator , it acts as this inner strength and it creates this resiliency .
Discovering Your Purpose Through Journaling
Speaker 1If you don't know what your purpose is , I'm going to give you a couple little tips on how you might be able to figure out what your purpose is . So the first thing I love I just always go back to this almost for everything is I love quiet time and journaling . There is nothing quite as powerful as sitting down by yourself in a quiet space . I typically love it to be like either outside or looking outside , just really trying to be close to God's nature , the beauty that he has created for us , and just journaling .
Speaker 1And if you don't know what to write , I always tell people , like , just start writing questions , right ? What is my purpose ? What is God calling me to do ? And maybe you're like I don't have a clue . Then you can just say , literally write the words I don't know what my purpose is or what God's calling me to do , but if I did know , what might it be ? And I know it seems like such a subtle difference , but somehow when we ask that question if I did know what might it be ? It gives you this freedom to not have to feel like you have to write down the right answer , right , like you can just start brainstorming , if you will , and just write down things . They might be right , they might not be right , because you're just like what might it be ? That doesn't mean that it is this , and as you journal , things will start to come out . Things will come out that you would not even think of if you were doing this all in your head . So I always encourage you really to try to journal this and not talk in your brain , not think in your mind , not talk out loud .
Speaker 1There's something unique and special about journaling . The second thing is you could just ask yourself questions like what is it that I've always wanted to do ? What did I enjoy doing when I was a child ? If I could do anything in life and not even get paid for it , what is it that brings me joy and just start asking these types of questions and you will probably very quickly figure out what it is that your purpose is Now . It doesn't mean that you won't have fear with that , but I think most of us know what it is that God's calling us to do . We're just afraid to speak it out loud .
Speaker 1If you would also like , you can visit my website . There is a free downloadable . It's on the five pillars of your well-being the health mental , mental , emotional , spiritual , physical and financial health and I love that free downloadable because it just starts to shine some light into areas that might need a little bit of help . It's not specific to your purpose , but I think that as you start to answer these questions and read through that little free downloadable , it will bring a lot of food for thought for you .
Speaker 1The other thing I love doing for women , if anyone's ever interested , is I love coaching women . I do one-on-one coaching . I have a 12-week program and in that a lot of women find what their purpose is Now over the next eight weeks . So just so that you have an idea of what's going to be happening in this , season two of Restoring Hope podcast , on Tuesdays for the next eight weeks I'm going to be putting in this short little episode on one of your superpowers . So every week I'm gonna cover one of the eight superpowers . I had this download from God on and what you'll start to find is that these eight superpowers they kind of build on each other and they're interwoven . So it did take me a little bit of time . I was like , okay , these are some pretty eight incredible superpowers here . Which one do I start with ? And when I started thinking , I was like purpose is definitely where I want to start , because it kind of sets the stage for discovering what drives us right . Our purpose provides direction and motivation for each of the next upcoming seven superpowers .
Speaker 1On Thursdays , every week on Thursday , I'm going to be releasing an episode with a special guest , because you know I am still all about helping you to know that , no matter how dark your journey is , there is always hope and I have some incredible guests who are going to be sharing their stories and you will definitely want to connect on those , follow those people . I'm always looking to help you just feel that silver lining , no matter how dark things may be . So I thank you for joining me . I'm so excited to be sharing these eight superpowers . I'd love to hear what your purpose is , so send me a DM , send me an email message . However it is that you found me , connect with me , tell me what it is that you are discovering is your purpose , and please share this episode with somebody that you know and love , because the truth of the matter is is we can all use a reminder as to what our eight superpowers are .
