We swap stories about moving worship into the gym and use that change to open a deeper talk on discernment—what it is, what it isn’t, and how Solomon’s prayer still shapes how we lead, speak, and listen. We keep it practical: separating emotion from wisdom, rooting in Scripture, and letting community and spiritual gifts be guided by truth and love.

• why the gym transformation tested our trust and imagination
• Solomon’s request for a discerning heart before wealth or power
• how drift happens when wisdom is not tended
• standing on Scripture in conflict without fueling outrage
• emotion versus discernment and the cost of online noise
• daily practices that grow wisdom: prayer, Scripture, worship, community
• testing teachings and gifts with biblical guardrails
• encouragement for anyone starting over with the Word
• the difference between checkbox faith and a seeking life

Back Together, New Sanctuary Vibes

SPEAKER_05

We're good. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Is it recording?

SPEAKER_05

It is recording. We're on. This we're eight seconds in.

SPEAKER_00

This this is a recording. Well, we're back.

SPEAKER_05

Well, for them, we're we're here. Yeah, we're here for the first time.

SPEAKER_00

First time in a long time we're together again. Together again.

SPEAKER_02

We should have played that song. Missed opportunities.

SPEAKER_05

Well, we're gonna need a tech team to do anything besides hit play, really.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we're doing good to be able to do that.

SPEAKER_02

We're gonna get that sponsorship one of these days.

SPEAKER_05

You know, we did forget to talk last week. We forgot to talk, you know, um, about our our transition into the gym. That was so cool.

SPEAKER_02

I wasn't here for the for the unveiling for the book.

SPEAKER_03

I wasn't either you were.

From Gym to Worship Space

SPEAKER_05

Oh my gosh, you guys know I knew you were here. No, I was in Florida. Nick was going to be. I was only here like half the time because my sister decided to get baptized across the field. So we left after worship. But I will say it was pretty cool. Like we walked in and I was talking, I don't remember who I was talking to. Jenny and Lauren. Jenny and Lauren, maybe. I don't know. But then I came back and Chase was holding Cooper and he was like, it was so funny because you know, all the lights were like pink and blue, and it was dark, and Cooper was like just like almost trying to feel the vibes out. He's like, he was just trying to like absorb it all thing. I'm like, yeah. I I walked over and he was kind of finishing doing that, you know. But it was, I mean, it sounded good. And actually, I listened to um Michael's sermon later that evening, and I thought it it didn't echo. I thought it sounded great. Like, honestly, I mean, we might have to rearrange some chairs here if we get any newcomers. We're gonna have to buy more. That's what I thought, too.

SPEAKER_00

That's what he that's what he was saying.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I mean, I just a good thing, you know.

SPEAKER_00

I was upset because I couldn't come. Yeah, like I know.

SPEAKER_05

My grandma was like, Roger wasn't there. I'm like, Oh yeah, he wasn't.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean, I I I I started, I was partially dressed, and it took me way too long to get partially dressed, and uh was all bent over, and I was like, I can't do this.

SPEAKER_03

I can't Yeah, Dawn sent me pictures. It was just beautiful. It was yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I was I was ups I was upset. You know, as uh I've seen the last twenty years. That may have been the third time I missed church other than vacation. Which was only twice on vacation.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's it was a big thing for me because I kind of bucked Pastor Michael on a little bit every now and then.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's just I don't know why you're doing that.

SPEAKER_03

I uh I couldn't see the end. I couldn't see the end. I'm I'm that person though. I can't see the end product.

SPEAKER_00

You're like my wife.

SPEAKER_03

I can't, you know, and then when it's done, I'm like, Yeah, oh, you know, and um so I'm like, ah, you sure I just don't, you know, I kind of pushed back against him a little bit on it.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, but you weren't the only one.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, no, no, no, there was a there was others that voiced their opinion.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and I mean I knew that he had a vision and it would work, but I just couldn't see it. I could never see it coming together as a sanctuary. In my mind, it was always gonna be the gym.

SPEAKER_05

See, I I seen it right away just because I was thinking that plate that church right beside us in New Point. I'm like, I don't know. I just thought that's where my brain immediately went to when he brought up, you know, brought it up at first, and I was like, Oh, I can't wait, you know. And and anything he does redo, it always looks great. So I was like, Meh.

Change, Growth, And More Chairs

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that I've learned to never doubt him. Yeah. Like whatever vision he has, it usually comes out just the way that he envisioned it. No, no, I might have been like, oh, well, what are we gonna do now for a gym or for dodgeball or for the kitchen? Or so I would think about things like that, but I had no doubt that whatever his vision was gonna be, it was gonna be big and it was gonna be good, it was gonna look great. Go big.

SPEAKER_03

And the fact that we're growing out of our sanctuary now. Yes. You know, the previous one.

SPEAKER_00

So And we don't have funeral carpet.

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_00

Well, we still have it.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, well Yeah, it's still in the village.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but we Not now the kiddos have it. But you know what? That carpet will never ever wear out.

SPEAKER_00

We can shut the doors, we don't have to look at it.

SPEAKER_02

But you know what would help to see all those things better? Discernment.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. You are exactly right.

SPEAKER_02

As my Bible defines it is the ability to discover or to recognize And we recognize change.

SPEAKER_00

And that's tough to do. Yeah, but change and yeah, and change very tough to do. Sometimes change is good, and sometimes we don't think it's good for it for us, but it's good for others. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Just like, you know, we're well somebody told me a long time ago they're like, if there's no pain, you're not growing.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no pain, no gain.

SPEAKER_02

There's no growth without pain. Unfortunately, that's part of the process.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_02

But yep.

SPEAKER_00

It's like getting them molars in.

SPEAKER_06

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Or them them little teeth.

Discernment As A Theme

SPEAKER_02

Little new new baby teeth Cooper's getting so you know, and discernment has a lot to do with wisdom. And last week talking about encouragement, in order to be able to encourage, you have to have that discernment and that wisdom to encourage people. Yes correctly.

SPEAKER_05

Yes.

Solomon’s Ask For Wisdom

When Wisdom Drifts: Solomon’s Failings

SPEAKER_02

Without that, uh, you're probably not going to be the best leader if you don't have discernment. Um diving into this, I was in Kings um looking at Solomon. Um and if you know anything about Solomon, you know he's son of David. And so when David passes, it's not initially Solomon is not supposed to be uh king. Right. Uh but he is eventually chosen, and in the moment of being chosen, um it's and this is in, I believe, Kings 3, 3, 7. Uh he he he tells God, because he's very young at the time, and he says, Now, O Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David, but I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties. Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number. So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong, for who is able to govern this great people of yours? And of course the Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. So God said to him, You have asked for the death of your enemies, but for discernment and administer administering justice. I will do what you have asked, I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be. Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for, both riches and honor, so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings. And if you walk in my ways and obey my statutes and commands, as David your father did, I will give you a long life. So God is very impressed, and and I think God believed that Solomon was genuine when he asked for discernment, because he gives Solomon everything he asked for and more, because that's the true thing that he asked for. He didn't ask for to have all the riches, he didn't ask to have all this power. The main thing that he wanted was that discernment to have that wisdom. Uh now, unfortunately, if you keep going with Solomon, you will realize that he does, he does fall away from God in a lot of ways. His life is not perfect. Um, I forget the it's uh the number of wives and concubines he has was like 700 wives, and how many concubines, and of course they were all from different religions, so they got him to worship other gods and perform other rituals, ceremonies, rituals, things like that, uh, which God became very angry about. And Solomon would also start handling his enemies almost in the opposite way that God had hoped he would. Uh so even, you know, and if you look at Solomon who he was, he was very intelligent. He could do all these, uh, all the all the things that he was capable of doing. Uh, he had all these great skills, all these great talents. Um, so he was known as a very wise, intelligent person. Yeah. But unfortunately, he fell away from that discernment to lead other people in order to, I would say, read people to be on the same level as other people, um, to where, yeah, to where his people would feel encouraged. Right. You know, and and to feel that discernment and learn from it. Unfortunately, he did fall away from that. Um, but you know, God keeps his promise to him. Now he does tell Solomon that, okay, after you die, here's what's going to happen. You know, the kingdom's going to be split, all these things are going to happen because you didn't follow my word. But he keeps his promise to Solomon that during his lifetime, you know, he will be the great king. You know, he will honor all the things that he promised him. Um, so there's a lesson to be learned from Solomon's life, which, you know, his father David certainly had his own challenges. Um, certainly uh he also, you know, did not always follow the word of God in all his actions. So there's a great lesson there to be learned. And I think about this too, because I know there's moments in my life where I've experienced the same things. And I just think in order to be discerning, no matter what you're doing, if if you're a leader, if you're responsible for other people, um, if you are to have a healthy family or a healthy relationship with anybody, you always have to be have that wisdom to know that you're standing on two feet, that you're always um you're always going in the direction that God would want you to go. Because if you do come into and if you do get entangled with people and have conflict, if you if you don't have your own two feet to stand on in the word of God, knowing that you have the wisdom, you're using the wisdom and that discernment, then it's very hard. It's very hard to come out on the winning side. It's it's very hard to come out, you know, with your hell head held high. Um and you may not win that argument, you may not bring the right people to your side. Uh and and you may, even though you might not necessarily be the person in conflict, it it can that conflict can from the outside come come into your life, consume you, and get and and pull you into it. Right. Instead of being able to stand on your own two feet and be able to say, well, no matter what what else is happening around me, I'm gonna be okay. You know, I'm gonna be able to stand on my own two feet because I have that wisdom and that that discernment that I'm following what God wants me to do, not getting caught up in you know, as we talked about last week, the negativity, you know, speaking that in in a negative tongue. Uh that is the big part of discernment for me that I think is the most important, is that you and the only way to have that is to continue to be in the word of God.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, is to continue to practice. Yes, yes.

SPEAKER_02

The wisdom is not something that's just given to you. Yeah, and then you quit. Yeah. And then you quit learning, you quit reading the Bible, you could quit following the word, like you've got it all figured out. You continually have to be in the word.

SPEAKER_05

Exactly.

SPEAKER_02

And continually looking for that discernment for more wisdom.

SPEAKER_05

And I think it's more than just being in the word. I think it's like we said last week, being around, you know, other um Christian like fellowship, um, you know, just being around a healthy community, um, and even I don't I just the prayer, the yeah, I mean prayer, diving into the word, like a little bit of almost almost I'm almost like looking at it almost as like the full armor of God. Like you got a little bit of here, a little bit of there, you know. And yeah, I mean you can get it, even like worshiping, you know, maybe you'll have a revelation with this song that has you know a certain verse, like that gives you discernment on something that's you're struggling with that day or that season.

SPEAKER_02

Yep, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

But um, I found the Latin word for discernment.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, here we go, school teacher.

SPEAKER_05

It means to separate.

SPEAKER_02

So it means to separate.

SPEAKER_05

Mm-hmm. Yeah, so separate good from evil, okay, truth from false, wisdom from foolishness. Foolness, foolishness. Yes, thank you. But I'm like, I wasn't expecting to separate, you know.

SPEAKER_02

But you know, well, and um of course Facebook right now, since you know, no matter what side you stand on with this whole Charlie Kurt, you know, with the assassination. And and of course, you know, now um the way I look at it is okay, everybody has to go, we all have to go back to our normal lives now. It was this huge thing two, three weeks, and everybody was real passionate, really excited, really on fire about what had happened and whatever your beliefs are, you know, and and he had and and we had the funeral and all those things. But now it's like now we all have to go back to normal. We all have to live our lives. And and I think you know, some people are still riding on those emotions, whether you're angry about it or you're confused about it, or whether you think it's important, you don't think it's important, uh, whether it lines up with your p political views or not, maybe even your religious views. Um I think some people are still hanging on to the initial, immediate emotions that they had about what happened.

unknown

Yep.

SPEAKER_02

And I think people need to understand that that is not wisdom or discernment.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Emotion is not discernment.

SPEAKER_05

No, no.

SPEAKER_02

In any way, shape, or form.

SPEAKER_05

I think emotion gets in the way of discernment.

Standing Firm Amid Conflict

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. So it whatever feelings you're having moving forward, when when you see somebody, because you get so many people online that will say negative things about Charlie Kirk, and the political fire start, and the arguments keep going, and people just keep you know hammering away at it. Um that's that's an emotional reaction to what happened. That's that's not being discerning. There's no wisdom in that. So I think people need to understand that what what however you feel about it, yeah, you need to be going to the word of God to figure out what what your opinion is. Yeah. Or or what you need to take away from it. Yeah, what you need to take away from it. How you're how you're gonna apply this to your life moving forward, you need to always be in the word of God. Because otherwise, if you're just if you're just spouting off because you heard somebody say something negative, so now you're gonna fire back at them and hope that something bad happens to them or something bad happens to their family because somebody said that Charlie Kirk deserved it and is that's wrong.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, you may feel like you're in the right, but that's absolutely the wrong approach. That is not discernment, that is not wisdom, that is pure emotion, and it will take you nowhere. It will it will bring you no further to the kingdom or bring anybody else to it for that matter. Yeah, you're not you're not gonna bring you might bring people again, you might bring people to it for a while when when the fire's hot.

SPEAKER_05

Sure.

SPEAKER_02

But again, we all have to go back to living our own lives and things are gonna calm down and you know, anger's gonna dissipate. What are you gonna have left? Well, you just forget about it, and and you know, you didn't learn anything from it. Um there has to be discernment.

SPEAKER_05

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

And I'm not just talking about this situation, but in any situation that you deal with. You should always have be looking for the wisdom behind um the problem or the confrontation, or you know, you need to think about what would God have me do in this situation? Not what I think I have I deserve to see happen. It doesn't matter what what you think. It's all about that wisdom and discernment.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. I think um like wasn't it the sixth sense that we describe it as that months ago maybe?

SPEAKER_02

Or maybe if you keep going I'll remember.

SPEAKER_05

I think it was that maybe just um yeah, I don't I don't remember. But yeah, I mean it's just something that it should become natural. Yeah, and you're gonna it's gonna grow, but like you have to feed it for it to grow. But you also have to protect it, like if you know, like if if it's raining too much or something, like I don't know, pull back or you know what I mean, or if it needs some sun, give it some sun, or you need to know when to feed it. And I think you need to feed it constantly, and I think I think a lot of people don't. And I think a big part of that is they're not getting in the word to do that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I I think a huge part of the conflict is okay, I know I want to stand up for God. I want to stand up for the word of God, and I want to be stand up for all Christians.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And I know that we're in a conflict with people who are not Christians that have different beliefs. So how do you go about that? Yeah. How do you because your first reaction would be was like, well, we we need to be in heated conflict with these people. We need to be unforgiving, we need to be, you know, all of these things. Um but that doesn't represent conflict. No, but you have that conflict in your heart, it's very easy to have that conflict in your heart, like, okay, how do I stand up for God without being in conflict? Like I I struggle with that. Like, I want to be a peaceful person without conflict.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

Emotion Isn’t Discernment

SPEAKER_02

But at some point, you may have to realize, like, okay, this may be an inevitable that there's going to be this clash between the Christian and the unchristian.

SPEAKER_05

Well, and honestly, I mean, that's what led to Jesus' death. You know what I mean? Like, like it's not like I don't think we should try to avoid it because it's yeah, it's inevitable. Like it's going to happen, whether we want it to or not.

SPEAKER_02

Like But how do we do that with discernment and and in God's timing without, you know, uh you know, tipping the you know, the hourglass. Yeah. And and you know, making it, you know, we're we're doing things out of anger, we're just gonna say retribution.

SPEAKER_05

I think we have to leave our emotions out of it. We have to be logical, mature, be you know, sometimes bite your tongue, think before we speak. Like, yeah, you're allowed to speak, but let's think before we do.

SPEAKER_03

And is it aligning with God's word?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. And is it like is it something that God would agree with? Then okay. Is it something that God would disagree with?

SPEAKER_00

No.

SPEAKER_05

Then let's not. Yeah, don't do it. Like I think that's a good way of looking at it, you know?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. It's hard in in today's world because no one wants to listen.

SPEAKER_00

No.

SPEAKER_05

Everyone wants to be heard, but no one wants to listen.

SPEAKER_00

No, I know. Yeah, everybody likes it.

SPEAKER_02

Everybody likes it. Everybody wants their own talk show.

SPEAKER_05

Yep.

SPEAKER_02

But they don't want to bring any guests on.

SPEAKER_05

Yep. Yeah. They're one-sided. They just want to talk in circles.

SPEAKER_02

One table, one chair, one microphone, and that's it. You know, they don't want anybody else, anybody else that has a comment that goes against what they think. They can they can't, you know, they can't discern.

SPEAKER_05

Um, Psalms 119-66. I believe it is King David. Um, teach me knowledge and good judgment, for I believe in your commands. Before I was afflicted, I went astray, but now I obey your word. You are good, and what you do is good, teach me your decrees. Um just trying to read if there's any more that I want to do. Yeah. But I mean, even him just writing it there that, like, yeah, teach me right from wrong. I want to better myself and to better your kingdom. Like, I don't.

SPEAKER_00

I know I messed up. Yeah. I don't always want to be right. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

I mean, sure, you always want to be right, but again, that's your emotion taking over. Like, he's being humble and you know.

SPEAKER_00

I'm never right. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Or it's kind of like that male point of view sometimes, you know. You always have instructions for everything. A lot of times, like, I don't need instructions. I'll just together on my own. Hour later.

SPEAKER_05

Like, where's that paper at?

SPEAKER_00

Been there, done that.

SPEAKER_05

Have you seen that picture going around Facebook that's like me throwing the the cardboard box into the like I don't need these instructions? Me two minutes later pulling them out because I forget what to do next. Like, yeah. Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. You opened the box, okay, but everything else is strung all over the floor.

SPEAKER_05

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_00

Been there, done that.

SPEAKER_05

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Uh-huh. I don't have to do it so much anymore. Yeah. I don't have my little kids put stuff together.

SPEAKER_05

Uh I used to Chase doesn't even read the instructions. Like, I'll start read I'll start something and I read the instructions. It takes me a while, but then he's like, oh, just give me it. And then what do you know? We mess, you know, we we don't know till the end that we messed up. So then we gotta pull it all apart.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, I did I I did that. I did that here.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

What was I putting oh oh I was putting the putting the uh latte station together. And I put everything, put a couple pieces on. The next piece wouldn't fit. Huh. Oh, well, no wonder because this one needs to be on this side and this one needs to be on that side. So that was before I could see though, too. Yeah. I'm using that as an excuse. But it was a good one. Yeah. But yeah, yeah. Yeah. Don't don't look at the instructions. Yeah, this is a good thing.

SPEAKER_05

Well, and I was about to say, I'm like, even when I did look at the instructions, I still messed something up. I'm like, care chase, just take it.

SPEAKER_03

Usually I can't figure it out what the instructions say.

SPEAKER_05

Sometimes they don't even have sometimes it's just a picture. Yeah. Oh, well, I'm better off. That drives me nuts.

SPEAKER_00

I'm better off with pictures. All that reading. I don't like it.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, but I mean, give me a picture and give me a sentence at the bottom. I'm good, you know? Or two sentences, not a full paragraph, because then I my brain can't comprehend all of that.

SPEAKER_00

Too many words.

SPEAKER_02

Just make a picture of the whole page. Don't give me this little tiny picture, this little arrow that I see.

SPEAKER_00

You need to get a magnifying glass so you can see the see the number on it. Okay, I need B13.

SPEAKER_04

Bingo! Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I think discernment is something that you have to continually, like you said, work at it and pray about. Yeah. Trust God's leading on it.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, know that you're like you're not you haven't made it, like you you're still learning his discernment, and you know, um you're not any I mean, sure, there's more that would be mature in it than baby Christians or something, but I think you st constantly need to feed into it and feed it because I mean the devil just keeps getting trickier and trickier.

SPEAKER_03

So well, and I believe it's a gift that God gives you for your obedience, yes, being in the Word. I agree. You know, constantly seeking his guidance and his wisdom. Yep.

SPEAKER_02

Well, and that's where you know everybody's like, Well, what about you know? It's like free will, yeah. We have free will, but we have the free will to look for his wisdom. Yes, yes, uh, you know, that's up to us. Yeah. Yeah. You know.

SPEAKER_05

Now, like we say all the time, like he's a gentleman.

SPEAKER_02

Like, yeah, if you're not gonna knock on his door, like he as in Matthew 7, 7 through 8, uh Jesus says, Ask and it will be given to you. Yep. Seek and you shall find. Knock and the door will be open to you. For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, the door will be open.

Separating Truth From Falsehood

SPEAKER_03

Yes. And I think you're non-Christians when you I don't know, a situation that just is not right, and you know it's not right, and you you know, feel like it's a discernment, and they're like, Oh, you're just superstitious, or you know, they don't understand. Yeah. Yeah. And sometimes it's just it's not even trying, it's it's not even worth the battle sometimes to make them understand because they don't know where the background is. Yeah. To understand that. And I mean you still need to share Christ with them right now. Yes. But you can't go throwing discernment out to them when they don't even know Christ.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. You can't start reading out of the textbook.

SPEAKER_03

No. Yeah. When you can't read. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

That's pretty much kind of the way you look at it. And I look at this like with these kids today, like they like history, like American history. We don't, they're they're not like they're right now, they're not teaching like the revolution in George Washington and up through the civil war with like Abraham Lincoln. They're not even it's like they're not even touching this stuff. But then we want we want our people to be patriotic. And we want them to love their country and all these other things. Like, but you haven't even given them the wisdom and the history to appreciate where they've come from and what they love. So they they don't even they don't even have the desire. Like you said, you you could you could give them all the history and all the great things that were accomplished and talk about Washington and Jefferson and Franklin and and and they look at you like that's stupid because they haven't been brought up with any of that wisdom.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Or that identity.

SPEAKER_05

They don't even I mean I'm gonna say this and I I might ruffle some feathers, but like Tyler Robinson, you know, he's quite I don't know how old 22? So I'm 29, and that's seven years? Yeah. And I'll tell you, even between me and Shy, that's only two years, and I there was a lot of changes in between just those two years as far as the schooling went. So that's another five years on top of that. Like, I truly don't know how much patr, you know, patriotic like symbols that they had actually talked about growing up. Like, did he actually realize that we are living in the greatest country in you know in the world?

SPEAKER_02

Like, yeah, I I don't think a lot of young people do, you know.

SPEAKER_05

No, yeah, I really don't. That's I just don't think they but and I'm not giving him an excuse whatsoever. No, not you know, but I'm it makes you wonder.

SPEAKER_02

It does.

SPEAKER_05

And yeah, it absolutely and I think for you to bring that up is very important because you do love your country so much, but you're also looking at both sides, you know, you're you're being real, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, so yeah, it it all starts, you know, you have to be like you said, it's you have to be in the word, you have to you have to have the wisdom comes directly from the word. Yeah, I I know you said it, you know, God gives that to us naturally, but as you said, you gotta seek it.

SPEAKER_03

Exactly.

SPEAKER_02

No, you just can't put your Bible away in a dusty drawer and say, well, that's gonna save me in 50 years because it was in my top drawer. You know, it's in every top drawer of every hotel across America. But how many people actually get it out when they stay somewhere?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh it doesn't do any good in that drawer. So how could you possibly have the wisdom of discernment if you're never in the word? It's impossible. To me, yeah, that's that's impossible.

SPEAKER_05

Well, and I I don't even think people realize what discernment like I don't even think they realize it's even a thing. If they're not in the word, if they're not a Christian, like maybe if they were a past Christian or like an ex-Christian, but so then like they don't realize how much they're missing out on.

SPEAKER_02

Right. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

You know?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. It's like it's like just having you know the key to everything.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And for whatever reason. Or just having that winning lottery ticket, and you're like, I'm not going to scratch it. Just you're not going to scratch it.

SPEAKER_05

Yep.

Listen Before You Speak

SPEAKER_02

I mean, now I guarantee you, if if we give every single person a scratch-off lottery ticket, every s I don't care what their beliefs are, where they came from, they're going to scratch that ticket. Because they've got the hope that they might win. But the Bible, you set it right in front of them. How many people are going to open it? That's the sad part of it. Maybe if you put a$50 bill in between.

SPEAKER_00

There's a$50 bill in there for a bookmark.

SPEAKER_02

Book of Kings, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's that's you're right. They don't even know.

SPEAKER_05

No. And that's a sad part.

SPEAKER_02

It is.

SPEAKER_05

And like you can't really tell, like we said, like, not that you don't want to tell them, because you do want to tell them, but we also don't want to scare them. Like, hey, you know.

SPEAKER_02

You know, I keep thinking about something you said a couple weeks ago. You're you were getting a little excited, and you're like, I just can't understand why they can't see that all we're trying to do is guide them and enlighten them. And yes, you know, yes. And it's so frustrating. It is. Because they think we're constantly attacking them, trying to, you know, uh take something away from them. Yeah, it's like, no, we're trying to give you a life.

SPEAKER_05

We're trying to give you life. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And they don't see it like that. Yeah. And I mean, honestly, looking into it, sure, I can kind of see that side. But if they would at least, like how you were just now, with being not having a biased opinion and being one, you know, not just having both sides, just having an open mind on both of it, hear me out type of situation, then they would they could possibly know.

SPEAKER_02

Yep. But and I think sometimes when Jesus says, you know, love your enemies, I think that's the point. Is um even in the worst moments, instead of conflict, you still should be trying to the last minute to bring.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

That should be that should be part of your uh belt of truth. Mm-hmm. You know, your armor of God is that you're still trying to reel the enemy in to the good side.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Till the last till there's no chance.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yeah, especially because I mean we'll we will like answer to everything we've done. And I I I keep thinking something, I don't know, I don't know if someone pictured it this way, but it um I heard recently someone must started picturing it as like you're going to answer to everything, you know, or every soul that you could possibly save or not save. Like, at least you're gonna die trying to reel this person in, whether, you know, and at least whenever you do get up there, he's gonna say, Hey, you tried, you know, you were blood, sweat, and tears with this one, and but just couldn't reach it, you know. Like you tried.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. Some people were just too hard-headed.

Teach Me Good Judgment

SPEAKER_02

Or you might have just been the first C playing it in that. Right, right. And it but it didn't, it didn't hit the mark. But it might be somebody else that comes along ten years later that says something very similar. Mm-hmm. And they're ready, but they're ready. And it right. And they may think back to, oh well, yeah, ten years ago that I can't remember the guy's name, but he he said something similar, you know. Um so you always have to think about that part of it too. Yes. Sometimes it's it's a long work of process that you may never see the fruits of. Yep. But that doesn't mean that you know, it's like that is the when the tree falls in the forest, does it make any does it make noise? Right. Right.

SPEAKER_05

You know, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Um what else do I got? I got uh oh, Philippians 1, 9 through 11, Paul says, and this is my prayer that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ onto the glory and praise of God.

SPEAKER_05

Does your Bible have the um definition of discernment?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Can you read it?

SPEAKER_02

Uh that was uh the ability to discover or recognize.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. Because they actually used the word right there and then they're trying to pinpoint it. That was Paul you said?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Well, I and the takeaway there is just when you're not in the Word of God, so many things so many things can look right. They can feel right. It's in your timing. You can do a lot of things that you think, well, what's the big deal?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You know, uh this feels right to me. You know, it feels like the right moment. Feels like something, it's something I want to do, something I should do. But that that isn't still that's not discerning because what knowledge are you basing that off of?

SPEAKER_05

Your own Your own emotion?

SPEAKER_02

Uh intellect, your own uh yeah. Or is it just something you want to do?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a time. Is it a dopamine kick that you're like, hey, that sounds exciting, let's do it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, let's go ahead and 37 mile walk. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Or just do a 5K right on Thanksgiving Day. Yeah. That sounds like a good idea.

SPEAKER_05

Hey, I'm getting out of cooking though. No one's gonna be asking me to cook anything. No, they know better not to.

SPEAKER_00

I thought Chase was losing a little weight. Oh boy.

SPEAKER_05

Starving him.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. But yeah, you you have to. I don't know. You know, it's just I don't know. It's kind of like even like when you're saying, like when you went in that cave, Rock. Like, yeah, I mean, that's sometimes what not having discernment is like. It's yeah, you're feeling around in the dark with no flashlight in a cave, and you're gonna bump your head, you're gonna trip over a rock, you're gonna And you don't even realize you're in a cave.

SPEAKER_05

Like you don't realize you're in a cave.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, sometimes you're not even Or in that far.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. You have no idea how far into it you are. Right. Or when you're gonna get out.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But there's always that light at the end of the tunnel. Jesus Christ.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's the discernment. That little flicker of light out there. Sometimes that that's that's the discernment that you need.

SPEAKER_00

Um but yeah, it's just Yeah, it's funny now, but it wasn't at the time. At the time I was I was frightened.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I'm sure.

Seeking Daily, Not Checkbox Faith

SPEAKER_00

Uh especially when I beat my head off off the ceiling. Or of course it could have been a sign, I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Couldn't see. My my thought is a lot of times, I because I know I think about God all all day. Like there's I'd say there's a high percentage, even when I'm working in the midst of being busy, it's like I'm always thinking about God, always thinking about Jesus. In one form or another, he's yeah, I can't think of a day that goes by that he's not in my thoughts. Yeah. And I look at other people around me and I think, how many times does that person think of Christ or think about what God would want him to do? Like never? I mean, I assume that there's people that when they get up in the morning, they don't say a prayer, they don't ask for God's wisdom, uh, you know, they don't ask for his mercy, forgiveness, uh, they don't ask him to walk with them throughout the day. And I think, is there people that go every day, all day, and never think about the word of God?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But I think there is. But to me, that's like I can't I can't fathom that. Yeah. But sometimes I can watch people and be like, yeah, I I I could guess that you haven't thought about them at all today.

SPEAKER_00

No, you can you can tell by their actions or the way the way they the way they act.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You know.

SPEAKER_02

I just uh so that that to me is is just so that's a mystery to me. It's curious to me. When I when I think about it all the time, it's like, okay, what what level, what percentage level am I on to other people as far as how much I think about God? No, do I want to give some people credit? I'm hoping that they give it some thought during their week or during their day. Yeah. But a lot of times I'm I'm like, I don't, I don't know.

SPEAKER_05

I think it's so neat just how he when he does give me discernment, and I'm like, I just want to spread this with everyone because I think it's so cool. Like you can get all these little Easter eggs throughout the day, you know?

SPEAKER_02

Okay, an Easter egg is something we'll just take it in a movie. Yeah. Okay. So in a movie, say it's like uh say you're watching a movie about race cars or cars.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

And then all of a sudden, you know what back to the future is, right? You know what back to the future is, right? Yeah. The movie. Yeah. So you're in that movie that has nothing to do with that, but then all of a sudden you'll see that DeLorean go across the screen, or maybe it's just in the corner somewhere sitting, and it's got the out-of-time license plate on it. So it's something that's set within this the the the set or the stage that you're supposed that is not necessarily the focus, but you're supposed to catch it. Like it's a little, it's an Easter egg to be like, oh, cool. You know, if if you if you're paying attention, you'll notice these little like uh don't a lot of like the superhero movies have them? Yeah, they'll just have little things that if you're really paying attention, you've watched it more than once, you might be like, oh hey.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, it was uh you know and then I think like Taylor Swift's new albums add them. I'm just trying to relate with everyone. I'm like, let me go superhero, let me go Taylor Swift, let me No, don't go there.

SPEAKER_01

Don't get me started on it, please.

SPEAKER_06

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

All I want to say about that is because everybody wants to argue with me. All that girl is trying to do is keep up with these with these young girls and what they're doing. And she's to me, she was supposed to be above that, she's supposed to be an artist, and she has instead of keeping the integrity, she has decided that, well, if I can't beat them, I'm gonna join them. Yeah, that's all I gotta say about it.

SPEAKER_05

And I don't I don't listen to her stuff. I I my sister, well, kind of two of them do a little bit. So of course, Chai was asking Cooper the other day, Cooper, you gonna stay up till midnight and listen to Taylor Swift's new album? Like, no, I'm just not gonna stay up. Are you kidding me?

Discernment In Gifts And Tongues

SPEAKER_03

Like, it better not be staying up. Well, I have to say about Monday morning when I got up, my prayer was God, you know, be my I want to be your hands, I want to be your feet. Use me where you need me. Yes. And he did. He's like, okay.

SPEAKER_02

There are times when you're like, really, God, is this real?

SPEAKER_05

And that's kind of what my response is. Yeah, because your Monday was crazy. Yeah, like someone walked around.

SPEAKER_02

How does this fit into your plan?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, you're like, all right, I asked for it, you know.

SPEAKER_03

I'm just okay. I'm gonna go with you. I'm gonna go with it, and you'll show me what I'm supposed to be doing here.

SPEAKER_05

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

Sometimes I swear he's just like, Oh, we'll see how much you really want. Yeah. There you go.

SPEAKER_03

I just kind of like, you have a sense of humor, don't you?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

And he does. You think this is funny? That's the thing. Like, I don't like there, people are they're not they're missing out on it. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's just a relationship that you know, you just you can't have with anything else.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

No, you just I'm sorry, you can't even have it with your wife, you can't have it with no you know, your your siblings.

SPEAKER_05

Because most of the time it's not audible that you hear from them. You know, there are some certain circumstances, but and I just think the discernment is a huge communication part of it, of the relationship, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's like any other relationship. I mean, you have it's yeah. You have to have dialogue. And more oftentimes you're supposed to listen to him, not he's not supposed to listen to you. I think sometimes that gets confused. Yes. I mean, prayer is you know what it is, and yes, you want God to listen to you, you want him to answer your prayers. But at the end of the day, it's more about you're listening to him.

SPEAKER_05

And sometimes he's gonna tell you something, and you're like, What the heck am I supposed to do with that?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. I'm actually doing a short little Bible study on hearing God's voice. Oh, yeah? No, it's been pretty good. Because sometimes we just don't give him that opportunity. No.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, because we we get we keep talking and we won't we don't shut up to and to listen, take the time to listen. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Or it's as we've did an episode on hearing the word and receiving the word. Right. Two completely different things. I hear you, but I'm gonna do it my way in. I got this going on today. Yeah, we'll try that tomorrow.

SPEAKER_00

End up in the trash can over here. Well, God, I guess.

SPEAKER_04

Oh God, please get me out. Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_00

Well, and I told you.

SPEAKER_05

You know, it used to just be our flesh and like, oh, I'm not gonna listen because I'm so stubborn and you know hardheaded, but now it's like, well, we don't want to sit and listen because everything in life is so fast paced, and we don't we don't need to listen to you know, we don't have to wait for anything else. So what makes me want to wait for this? Well, you need to, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Well, that's a big tool of the enemy, isn't it?

SPEAKER_05

Yep.

SPEAKER_02

So they don't have to wait for anything.

SPEAKER_05

So they're not gonna wait, they're not gonna wait on the Lord because they ain't got time.

SPEAKER_03

Yep. Yep. And he's a bad thief for me in the mornings when I don't want to get up, and I know I need to get up and spend my time in the word and have time with God, and I'm like, Yeah, just one more time, snoop.

SPEAKER_05

And then most of the time when you wake back up, you feel worse than you did the first time.

SPEAKER_02

Or now you're short on time.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, and all the above.

SPEAKER_02

The anxiety starts. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Why didn't I get up? Yep.

SPEAKER_03

Um I think discernment is I don't know where I was going with that. Just it's confusing for those who don't understand or know the Lord. Yeah, I agree.

Don’t Be Fooled: Know The Word

SPEAKER_02

Well, but it's again though, it's so common sense to think that, okay, as you were, what'd you say, Roger? You're a done employment office, and they're asking you all those stupid questions like, can you do this? Can you do that? Yeah. It's like you can't go out and be an ice skater or you know, go on stage to perform theater ballet when you've never done it. You've never you don't have the wisdom to do it. You don't know the first thing about it. I've seen it done. So, yeah, you've seen it done. We'll give it, yeah, but that's give it a whirl. Yeah. Yeah. Uh that's not discernment. Get into the swing of things. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

But I think sometimes he gives us discernments, and even at that time, we don't understand what he's telling us, but we know it's just not right. Shut your mouth, get away. Yeah. Don't, you know. And we might not understand it at that time why he did that. Yeah. And down the road he will show us. But I think that comes in to where we have to learn to just trust him. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Right. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, how many times as a mom we get that sick to our stomach feeling and we just know. Yeah. We just know, you know. And we might not know why at the time, but down the road we will.

SPEAKER_05

Right, right.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Well. Where are we at? We're at 46 minutes.

SPEAKER_02

We're doing good. We're doing good. That's all the scripture I had on that. Like I really got into the uh Solomon. I just found that all very interesting. Um yet another great point to make is you know, Solomon prays for discernment, he gets it. Then down the road, he doesn't quite live up to what he's learned. And there's several harsh lessons that come from that. Yet through all that, God keeps his promise, and God continues to use him. So there's always that lesson behind that no matter where you're at, you know, it's a come as you are type of thing. That God can still use you no matter where you've been, what you've done, how long you've been away, you know, whether you've got tons of discernment or not. That's right. If you pray for discernment and pray for wisdom, he'll start using you right away. He's not gonna wait, he's not gonna say, Well, you haven't put any time in yet, so you know, I'm not gonna waste my time. I'm gonna look for somebody more qualified. If you're genuine in heart that you want that wisdom and discernment, he'll start using you right away. Or if you've left for a while and come back, as soon as you start praying for it again, well, you're you're right back, you're right back on track.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Like it's almost like you never left.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. So that's it, that's a thing that people, well, it's a word of encouragement, it's just people need to understand that, yeah. No matter what you've done, no matter where you think you are in life or you're not ready yet, how could the Lord possibly want me or use me? Well, he can. You know, and you can you can you discernment is not something that comes with age particularly. It comes from seeking it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You know, you can have you know if you're 50 years old and you never cracked a Bible, you you can get just as much discernment as somebody who's you know been listening to it since they've been a small child. Um it just depends on how much you seek, how much you want to find, how much wisdom that you you know that you're sincere uh about pursuing, you can do that. You know, there's nothing that's the thing, there's nothing holding you back. All the things that are holding you back are just the things we talked about. It's just all the other things in the world that will distract you from actually opening this book.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You know, and yeah, there's a lot of apps out there that will be on one verse a day. Okay, that's great. That's positive. But I don't think that's gonna help you with wisdom and discernment.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Because even in that, you're not seeking it.

SPEAKER_00

It's no, it's just there.

Everyday Life, Little “Easter Eggs”

SPEAKER_02

It's just there, right? It's giving you a chance. And you'll you'll it's it's it's a check in the box, as Pastor Michael will say sometimes. It's just a check in the box. You're like, okay, yeah, I'm gonna start having my phone when it wakes me up in the morning, it's gonna give me this Bible verse. Okay, that is positive. There's nothing wrong with that.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, and then the next thing you know, you're not even reading it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but yeah, and you think that's good enough. I've done my one verse for today, and that's what I'm doing, and that's my New Year's resolution, maybe. Uh so I got it covered. I'm good. But that's not seeking, that that's not that's not discernment. That's just checking the box and saying, well, okay. That's might that might be a little uh self-help, self-approve. Yeah, seriously. But but I don't think that's wisdom, wisdom or discernment.

SPEAKER_03

One verse is not going to teach you or guide you. You have to a lot of times read uh what's above it and what's below it to be able to comprehend what that one verse is.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that one verse is.

SPEAKER_05

I wanted to take a spin on this since we are a four square church. Um a lot of the times you've got, you know, messages speaking in tongues, and then someone is going to um interpret that. Interpret that, and then sometimes you're gonna have someone who interprets it wrong. And someone's going to need discernment to to know, or or if pastor didn't pick that up, someone's going to have to tell him, hey, I've I got this discernment, and that is not what that word was supposed to be.

SPEAKER_02

I've been seeing on my like just in my Facebook feed. Yeah. Say Matthew 3, 11, whatever. And I'll have this little passage. And I'm like, I know that's not what that says.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, exactly. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But all these people will think that's what it says. And it doesn't, it's positive. Sure. It's a positive message. Sure. To make people feel good.

SPEAKER_05

Probably AI generated, I'm sure.

SPEAKER_02

But it's not the word.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_02

But people will think it is.

SPEAKER_05

Well, and like he like he keeps saying, he's like, I think I'm just gonna come in here one day and give you some Bible verses that aren't even they're either gonna be twisted or they're not Bible verses at all, and just see if you guys do your homework because that is going to be a level of discernment that we all need to be ready for, because who knows he might do it.

SPEAKER_03

Well, that's why I like to follow with my Bible.

SPEAKER_05

Yes, yes, yeah. Um, but First Corinthians 12 10 kind of speaks on this. Um so it says he gives one person the power to perform miracles and another to um the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the spirit of God or from another spirit. Still, another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, speaking in tongues, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. So it's like when people are saying that we're crazy because we speak in tongues, and it's like you I'm gonna be honest, it's other church people. You know, it's other different churches that are saying this. The Bible says that this you know, like so are you saying that the Bible is wrong, is wrong? Yeah, something to think about. That that's that just always gets to me right there because I'm like, the Bible says that it's you know it is biblical. Exactly. Yep, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But that's what I've come to appreciate appreciate about our church is you know, that's that's not my field. Right. At least so far, where I'm at in my journey, yeah. Speaking in tongues or interpreting is not my field.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But as the Bible says, you know, if you're a teacher, be a teacher. If you know, any of those things. If you're a healer, be a healer.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So it's okay not to be, you don't have to be in all those rooms.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, you don't have to cross-trained.

SPEAKER_02

You're not, yeah, you're not cross-training here. You don't have to fill out the entire resume and have all the checks in the box.

SPEAKER_05

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Uh but it's for me, it's like, okay, but I'm but I understand that there are people that that is their calling. Yeah, it is what they're supposed to do. And so reading in the word, I've become more comfortable with that. Where I don't think I would be able to discern that otherwise. I would probably think the same thing, like, wow, these people are nuts. Yeah. You know.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, but it but it's because, yeah, I've read the word, I know that it's in there, and so that I could say, okay, well, it's not God hasn't called me to do that as of yet.

SPEAKER_05

Right.

SPEAKER_02

But don't mean it won't come. But but I'm not going to question somebody else who is doing that. Yeah. Um, you know, because it's like, yeah, that's what you said, it's right there.

SPEAKER_05

Well, and honestly, you know, a lot of the things that are in the old testament, you know, we don't so much practice anymore because Jesus can't, you know, kind of, but this is the New Testament. Like it's in First Corinthians, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. Yep. But so you're right. But and that, but that's a big part of discernment. Yes. Again, you either know the word or you don't.

SPEAKER_05

Exactly.

SPEAKER_02

And if you don't, well, guess what? It's right there. Yep. And yeah, there's all the you know, we last episode we read all these translations and they're a little bit different.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

Keep Seeking, God Still Uses You

SPEAKER_02

But but uh but they're true. Yeah, and like when you trickle down. They're consistent. Yeah. Yeah, they're consistent. Yeah. Yeah. You have to realize I forget how many languages was the Bible, you know, translated into. Originally. Originally.

SPEAKER_00

Uh I don't know. I should have brought that because I've got but uh I've got I've got a Bible in my in my truck that's got uh like four different translations in it.

SPEAKER_05

Oh.

SPEAKER_00

Plus the old testament, I have a Hebrew Bible.

SPEAKER_05

Oh that's cool. I like that.

SPEAKER_00

I mean it's yeah, because you need a magnifying glass to read it. But it's it's just it's just a small, it's just small.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It's kind of interesting you read like the different translations, you know. See how they can they all pretty much are the end, the end result is the same. Yeah. It's just it's we just worded different. Just oh, you know, we had what gangrene and that one.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, gangrene, poison.

SPEAKER_02

Poison cancer.

SPEAKER_00

Cancer, you know, infection.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

We all get it. Yeah. Yeah, it all does the same thing. Yeah. It all comes out. Yeah. It'll all come out in the wash.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know. When you were talking about the discernment and knowing God's word, and I don't know why it brought come to my brain was um the general the guy that preached that these people all needed to drink the Kool-Aid to die. Oh, Tim Jones. Yeah, yes. You know, had those people been in their words. Exactly. They would have never fallen for that prophecy. Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe I did did he write a Bible or something? Or I think he wrote a book.

SPEAKER_03

I think he had them convinced that he was Christ himself. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

He targeted the lost.

SPEAKER_03

Mm-hmm. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

The unwise, the unlearned. You know, he targeted that group of individuals that would fall for it. Yeah, that would be uh you know prone to were vulnerable, looking for something to believe in. Yep. Um yeah, and he made them think he was, like you say, pretty much Christ's figure. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But it's crazy. He he murdered people too. Yeah. He murdered murdered the senate that senator and and three people that was with him. Oh, that's not very Christ-like to me. I haven't thought of it.

SPEAKER_05

Well, when your brain washed.

SPEAKER_00

Well, yeah, but well, his brain must have really been washed.

SPEAKER_05

Uh huh.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think it was there.

SPEAKER_05

Well, that's what I was about to say. I don't think of anything. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

That's a phenomenon in itself for me. It's always been hard to understand, you know, Charles Manson getting them girls to do all that stuff and different people, you know, David Koresh and all these. It's like, how did you know, I don't know. It's hard to believe that there could be people that could be led that easily astray into something so twisted and dark and that, you know, but they don't usually like you said, those people are targeting people that are vulnerable to you know, that are lost, that are that people that maybe have run away from home, people that have, you know, all different types of things. And you know, generally you know, they're not that's the thing, you don't want to be fooled. At any point in your life, you don't want to be fooled. And the only way not to be fooled is to have discernment from from the word of God itself, not not from any other source.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, you know.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Just like I said, people are reading those Facebook things thinking, okay, well, it's in Matthew. It must be so. It doesn't matter if it's positive, it's still still not.

SPEAKER_03

There's been, and I don't remember what they were, but a few things have popped up. I'm like, I think that's not right.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I just and it took me a while. Like I like I was I just kind of would go by them, and then also I'm like, that's not in there. Maybe it's similar, maybe it's in the same, you know, but that's not what it says.

SPEAKER_03

You know, or they've taken a little bit of this and a little bit of that and put it together, and you're not getting the full point because they've altered it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And like you said, you're not reading the top or the bottom. They eliminated the highlights. They just put the highlights in. They didn't put the guts of the meat. Yeah. Yeah. The meat and potatoes of it.

SPEAKER_05

So eat your meat and potatoes. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You gotta eat your veggies too.

SPEAKER_02

As they say, the wolf, the wolf can be in sheep's clothes. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Um and you can't stay on the milk all your life.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I I had that in there. I didn't read that one. Yeah. No. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I drink a glass of milk every night.

SPEAKER_05

It's so refreshing that night. It is. I take a glass of milk. I usually do the bowl of cereal. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I usually eat a bowl of cereal before I go to bed. Oh, well, I don't do it before I that's with with dinner, I have a glass of milk.

SPEAKER_05

Oh.

SPEAKER_03

No, I take it to bed with me.

SPEAKER_05

I'll drink it right before I go up to bed. I don't know why. It's just so refreshing.

SPEAKER_00

Nice cold glass of milk. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, mine's usually warm by the time I'm drinking it. It's set on the nightstand. Well, it started out when I had heartburn all the time. Then it just became a habit. Habit.

SPEAKER_00

And I'm like, Well, I guess you could have you could have a worst habit. So I mean that's a good thing.

SPEAKER_03

It might be 8 30 at night. I'm like, Jervey, there's no milk left. You'll be okay.

SPEAKER_02

Does that seriously help with heartburn?

SPEAKER_03

It does me sometimes, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Margie has heartburn sometimes, and I don't know if she's ever tried that.

SPEAKER_00

Now my kick's I gave a big glass of oval teen. Oh, I haven't had that in forever. Oh. Yeah. At least once a day. Well, like just I had it for breakfast this morning. Now I'm thinking of a Christmas story. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Ovaltine?

Closing Thoughts And Prayer

SPEAKER_03

Grummy commercial. Drink more oval teen. Well, it's a lot healthier than Nestle's Quick, which I love.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Yeah. That was always the big push. Had chalked full of vitamins. Mama mom approved. Well, I always know it was an oval teen, though, it never quite mixed right. Like you still have stuff floating at the top. I never liked that though.

SPEAKER_00

Oh well, that that's the chew. That's the cereal. The cereal. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

That's the good stuff.

SPEAKER_00

You can think that you're eating something rather than just drinking. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know. I just swallowed those. Now you go with the original or the malt. Oh, malt. Gotta have the malt. Okay. Oh yeah. Gotta have the malt. Matter of fact, I just I just downed my can today. But I got a fresh can in the cupboard.

SPEAKER_02

But is it still in a glass jar? Or is it let's get serious. It's like I remember last time I seen it on the shelf, to be honest.

SPEAKER_03

It looks like a coffee can almost now. Okay.

unknown

All right.

SPEAKER_00

Well, it's not that big though. I wish it was.

SPEAKER_03

No, not quite that big.

SPEAKER_00

It's about as big as a uh it's smaller than a mayonnaise jar.

SPEAKER_03

Huh. I got a big one. I don't know where I got it at. Walmart, I think it was pretty nice side. This big?

SPEAKER_02

Maybe Sam's Club has it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, like the size of a Folger's can.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I never seen that.

SPEAKER_03

Can you barely start laughing?

SPEAKER_00

I'm disappointed now.

SPEAKER_02

I've never I've never just eaten spoonfuls of it without milk as a kid. Like I just eat spoon. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Now I can do that with peanut butter. Oh yeah. Same.

SPEAKER_00

Same. Oh yeah. I do that in the I I get the peanut butter jar out and get the spoon out, and also the dogs are sitting there. No, this is not your peanut, but this is mine.

SPEAKER_02

I used to put the Nesquick powder on my ice cream.

SPEAKER_05

Me too. Cookie dough ice cream is the best with it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

It'll be all right.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. I still did.

SPEAKER_02

Right on spoon it. Just spoon it. What, the Nesquit? Nesquik or the Oval Teen. Oh yeah. I don't know. I wouldn't do it now, but I used to. As a kid, you know. Mom wasn't looking.

SPEAKER_00

She said you had enough milk for today.

SPEAKER_05

All right. Any parting wisdom? No.

SPEAKER_02

Drink more milk.

SPEAKER_05

Got milk.

SPEAKER_02

When you're reading the Bible, have a nice cool, tall glass of oval tea. There you go. Yeah, there you go. Everything will be just fine.

SPEAKER_05

Yep. Constantly eat on it.

SPEAKER_02

Chew on it.

SPEAKER_05

Chew on it. There you go. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

On the little granule. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

All right. I guess I'll pray, right? My turn?

SPEAKER_00

It's up to you.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. Let's see. All right. Dear Heavenly Father, Lord, um, I just thank you for this evening that we had together. Um, you know, I just thank you that we can all come with different um aspects of our topics, Lord. And um thank you for allowing us to continue this ministry um and just reach anyone, you know, that's currently a member here or a non-member, um, as well as into the future. Um, I just pray that, you know, this word does reach someone and um, you know, impact their heart. And I just pray for travel mercies and in your name. Amen.
