A one-week break is just too much these days. What's up guys? Welcome back to P22, your F1 podcast. We are everything F1, all the hot takes, all the beefs, all the rivalries, car upgrades, team switches, principal switches, everything we could say caught up on. You will find it here. Thanks so much for tuning in with us today. My name is Andy. This episode is a preview of the Austrian Grand Prix, baby. We're doing all of our predictions, all of our hopes, all of our maybe big surprises, low surprises, who we think is gonna show out, who we think is going to tucker away. So I'm pumped. It was a little bit of a long um break for me. I was on the cruise, so it felt like a little bit longer than it was, and I'm glad that uh it worked out this way, so I didn't have to miss a bunch of episodes. But it also is just hard to do the one week off when the races are as good as they've been. So hopefully we can get some back-to-back races here soon. Hopefully we can see uh keep getting some competitive races, some overtakes, some strategies. It was uh it's been fun to watch, and I think that the whole um buzz of the new cars, new regulations is uh kind of fading away, which is good. So we can focus on the racing, focus on the tea, focus on the fun, and uh let's just hop right into it today, man. I appreciate you guys logging in. Let me pull up my notes and we will get her in, baby. The construction at the shop is rolling right now. If uh you haven't seen me, it's all I've been doing. If you haven't been listening to me, it's pretty much all I've been doing besides the cruise, and we've made huge strides these past couple weeks. The shop looks insane. It's definitely taking weight off of our shoulders as well as like getting us more motivated and more passionate because we're actually can see what it's becoming and see our vision come to life. So that's been really cool. I am going to Atlanta this weekend, which is sick. We're going to Atlanta for a training with a very popular company called Valor V-A-L-O-R. They are a coffee roaster and cafe in Georgia and Atlanta. So any of my Atlanta listeners are on here. Go uh hit them up, Dunwoody and Alpharetta locations. It is amazing coffee. I'm about to make some right now after this podcast. Super good, super tasty. It's um got from like healthy, safe, clean farms in Columbia and some other places, but they do the roasting in-house. Local guys, three guys, Riley, Ross, and Ethan. Very cool. Um family guys, sports guys, very athletic sports guys, and very knowledgeable. Very knowledgeable, very passionate about what they do. And um me, my brother, his wife, and my and his wife's sister and her husband are all gonna go on this Atlanta trip. And it's gonna be really cool. We're gonna learn a lot. It's gonna be a very team-building experience, a very uh fun experience for the squad. And um that's my weekend. So I'm gonna wake up on Sunday and watch this freaking race, bro. I'm super pumped. The Austro or Austrian Grand Prix, baby. Before we hop into it, let's do some F1 news, some F1 recap, just some stuff that's been going on over the over the past couple weeks. Obviously, uh Lewis Hamilton in his first Ferrari victory in Barcelona, he's officially in the championship fight, and he's looked better every week with Ferrari this season, especially. So um nice breakthrough for Hamilton, and hopefully he can keep rolling on that. I have him on the podium this week, so we'll see. Antonelli uh taking total control of the drivers' championship, one five in a row, absolute killer. Unfortunately, with the DNF last week, a disappointing weekend in Barcelona, but that is just one single hiccup in this amazing story, and I know that everyone is you know talking about Lewis and Russell and um what the race might look like, what the chase might be on the championship battle with LeClaire and with Priestrian Lando and Max, if that they're already out of it by now. Let me tell you right now, I am not flinching at all. I think Kimmy Antonelli will 100% win the drivers' championship, and a race like this weekend would prove it. Cadillac, Cadillac is bringing a very significant upgrade package to Austria. It's uh new side pods, new floors. It's not gonna obviously put them at the front of the pack immediately, but it should close the gap pretty good, especially because they've been hovering around that P15 to P17 era. Like, I know a couple weeks ago Pi Perez almost scored a point before the penalties kicked in, so that was really cool. So, I mean, they're not uncompetitive. I'm still taking a Cadillac car over the Aston Martin any freaking day. Any T and drama over the last week has been kind of slow. I think the Ferrari momentum is kind of starting to be a storyline and a rumor that people are talking about. But with Leclerc messing up so much, it's it's definitely not um, it's further away than I would think. Mercedes reliability has been kind of getting brought up more and more because you know, with the George DNF and how the Kimmy DNF and the star issues and then the Kimmy crash over the season. So they clearly have the best engine, but the battery exertion and just overall reliability of the car seems to be down, which is weird for Mercedes team. So, like I said, not crazy T, but um just something to keep your eye on. And um Red Bull, this is Red Bull's home race. So I think Max is in full force always, but especially weekend like this, he's gonna have that car pushed to the limit. Hadar will have that car pushed to the limit. Red Bull always seems to have some crazy shit going on, and Max and Red Bull love to play into that, so it's a lot of pressure for the home uh home crowd race, but I do think that we could see Max on the podium this week, which would be sick. Alright, let me break down the Austrian Grand Prix details just for uh anyone that isn't familiar with the track. It's one of Formula One's classic events, 1964 at Zeltwig before eventually moving to where we are now in Auster Retch Ring, and uh and now in the Red Bull Ring. So the Red Bull Ring is in Spielberg, Austria, and it is 2.68 miles, it's 71 laps, a little bit of a longer circuit, 10 corners, 69 meters for elevation, um, it's 700 meters above sea level, which is crazy. Three major overtake zones, and it's one of the shortest laps on the whole calendar. So 2.6 miles, not too bad. This race is really fun because it only has the 10 corners, so it feels really short, but every mistake is amplified. Those two car links, and you lose six positions, so it's gonna be very tight-knit, one little slip up, and they will take advantage. The circuit is also known for the aggressive curbs and heavy braking zones, so there's a lot of overtake opportunities. Max and Lando and Red Bull McLaren overall, I would say, have the most um experience and most wins at these races. I know that uh they love just ripping it around here, and they've been racing here for every year, so they're used to it, they have fun with it. Home crowds gonna be electric. This time of the season, they're usually fully amped up, and the the championship decision is starting to get there, so this should be it should be a fun weekend, guys. My quality predictions. I have George on poll. So a little bit of a leap for me. I'm letting him influence me from last week. I'm going George, Kimmy, Max, one, two, three. Mercedes has taken every poll this season, and um I think that a one pass-through lap qualifying, um, Mercedes can put on the fastest lap in qualifying. I belie I think so. I'd love to see Kimmy get up there. I'd love to see Max get up there, but I am not sure. On the actual podium on Sunday, I have a P3, Lewis Hamilton. So I have Lewis on the podium still. Continuing this uh amazing streak that he's on. I have Max Verstappen coming from fourth to second and getting up in there after a decent qualifying, decent Sunday, couple overtakes, great start, and I have him finishing P2 on the podium and the home race for Red Bull and P1. You know who I'm gonna say, baby. Kimmy Antonelli. I have Kimmy retaking the crown this week. I have George falling down to fifth. He's gonna have some reliability issues. He's gonna have you know Kimmy in his mirror at the rip. He's gonna get nervous, slip up, then Lewis is gonna pass him, then Maxwell's gonna pass him. I think Lewis, uh I think George will have uh a comeback to moment uh episode this week. Come back to moment race, I should say. I do think Ferrari's momentum will keep rolling. Uh LeClaire and Lewis will both score points, we'll both finish. Driver of the weekend, I'm gonna go with Kimmy Antonelli because he is the driver of every weekend. My P22, kind of a cop out, but I'm going with Lance Stroll again. I just think that until I see this dude race like um, I don't know, competently, like I feel like I could go out there and race that freaking car. Honestly, like it's it's a joke. And then the car, I okay, I know the car gets a lot of heat, but then you see Alonzo like actually being competitive for at least a little bit, like at least for the first couple laps, the dude's in there. Some overtakes, got the bar slowing the crowd ripping a little bit. I just Lance, he needs to go, bro. It's the nepotism at the finest. I am just tired of seeing this dude on my screen. Literally two laps in, I just see at the bottom of the screen. Uh Lance Roll out DNF. I'm like, of course. Why even start? I do think we'll have a couple safety cars this weekend, so we'll close that gap if we do have some uh Mercedes or Red Bulls or Ferraris breakaway. But uh couple tight turns in this track, so I do think that we'll have a couple Charles Leclerc, Lance Troll crashes. I think I think that caps it up for us, team.
