They don't want to see Kimmy win. What's up everybody? Welcome back to P22, your F1 podcast, where we are everything F1, back of the pack, front of the vibes. We have all the F1 news, all the F1 upgrades, the racer beefs, the principal changes, everything you guys can think of, new sponsors, all the rumors, everything right here. Unfortunately, I have some bad news today. I am officially recording this podcast after the first race I missed all season. 23 episodes in, eight races in maybe, and this was my first one that I didn't do a predictions episode for. I greatly apologize. I had a crazy couple weeks. I still have a crazy couple weeks. My life is just all over the place right now. Endless projects, endless travel, endless trips, dog surgeries, watching nieces and nephews, just I mean insane. And um, it got away from me. The back-to-back race definitely got away from me. And last Saturday I was going to record an episode for the race, but it was 4th of July, and you know, I just didn't have to get around to getting it. I had a I had the episode scripted out. I did the research on it, and um I after I recorded my uh wrap-up Austrian Grand Prix episode, I almost doubled down and just did it right then, but I didn't, and I highly regret it. So I am sorry if you were looking forward to my predictions episode. I apologize about that. I'm sure that there were thousands of you that were pissed that I didn't um get that posted. And I do apologize. So uh we're gonna start it off right, and we'll do the Great Britain wrap-up, and then we will have Belgium in like a week and a half, and then we'll have our summer break, and I promise I won't miss any more for the rest of the year. Next year I do think I will go back to a one episode a week structure and maybe do the prediction and wrap-up like for the next week, for the next week kind of thing. It'll take more research, the episodes will be a little bit longer, and they'll be over more um they'll cover more information. But I possibly might just split those episodes up too. I've been kind of weak on him this year just because like this is the most down you I've ever seen him have, and even with that, he's still, you know, on the podium. He's still competing in first to fifth, and he's in a car that doesn't even belong in the top ten. So it's uh it's cool. I I love Max. Love some Kimmy, loves from Lewis. My favorite team, I would have to say Mercedes, man. I know that's an easy answer. Mercedes or Ferraris, obviously, like the easy answers, but I just I love Toto Wolf. I love how they operate, I love Bono, their tradition of winning, and like every time it feels like that Mercedes is like, oh wow, they're finally done, they just come right back, bro. And it's just it's a full team effort always. And I I love how they found Kimmy at such a young age and knew like this was their guy, and uh just shows a lot of um loyalty and commitment and uh training and strength and good leadership from the top down. Alright, and now a little about me, now that we got those uh about me questions done. We are still just cranking away on coffee shop construction every day, getting a little bit closer, a little bit closer. It's been crazy. Um I'm reading, I'm reading Superfans and the E Myth Revisited Right Now podcast. Still listen to the Valor Coffee Sometimes podcast. It's amazing. Um totally locked in with uh Ross, Riley, and Ethan. They are um these three guys that own a coffee company in Atlanta, Georgia, and they've owned it for a little over ten years. They started it when they were 19. Very smart, very intelligent, very um inspiring. And uh they run a really good podcast as well as two amazing cafes and a roostery. So if you're looking for something to listen to, highly recommend. Um Superfans is written by Pat Flynn, amazing book. He's also written Lean Learning, which I highly recommend. Alright, and the time that you guys wanted to listen to. Eight minutes in, not too bad. Uh F1 News, baby. F1 has officially confirmed software that caused the late um safety car confusion at Silverstone. So if you didn't know, they clicked the safety car clear button on accident and basically ruined the end of the race. Um Verstappen and Christian Horner didn't talk after the race, but Christian Horner was on the paddock this week. And so apparently Max wants to leave Red Bull and Piashi wants to leave McLaren. So that's the big talk. Horner's been walking around everywhere talking about joining Aston Martin, talking about Jordan Cadillac, joining, let me see, there's I mean, there's just endless rumors about Horner, and I think it's because the dude's loaded, like he can pretty much just pick where he wants to go. I think Aston Martin is like the lead person for him right now. But I just don't know. I don't know if people want the drama, but he has a tradition of winning, so I think that buys you a lot in this league. And uh the whole Max thing, I mean, he is definitely he gets more upset in the moment, obviously after a crash when you're you know competing for a podium is uh very annoying, but I just I don't know if I see him leave it. I really don't. So um Ferrari, they are finally closing in on uh Mercedes and the champion constructors. I don't think anyone thought this was actually going to happen, but a couple race wins, a couple DNFs, and here we are, baby. Ferrari and Mercedes battling it out. I think it's a four-man battle for the title right now. Kimmy, Lewis, Charles, and George all day. So nothing crazy, F1 news wise. That's pretty much a good breakdown. Max and Piastri and Horner taking the headlines for the week. And time for the British Grand Prix wrap-up, baby. Silverstone. Nice, has a nice historic track. And uh we'll start with the sprint. So Kimmy took uh the sprint win. He's the youngest to ever win a sprint race, and he uh beat out Lewis and Lando. The McLaren's and the Ferraris got an insane start to the sprint, but once Kimmy overtook him, Lewis said it was it was done from there. He was out and running, and you can't chase him down. So it was cool to see uh Kimmy stay composed and do when you see him get within that second, literally within next lap, he is like flying by them. He's just he's the king of overtaking right now. And the Grand Prix. Let's all just tip our hats to Charles Leclair, baby. He finished in first place, his first win of I mean, what, two years? Like, he hasn't won since Texas in 24. Uh Russell came home in second, Lewis in third, Lando fourth, Isaac Hajjar fifth. So, pretty crazy um final lineup. Like, it's cool to see uh double Ferrari podium, George snuck in there, but Kimmy, this is Kimmy's race. Kimmy won this race, he was gonna win this race, sorry. He had mechanical failure, reliability issues. He like, of course, again, and he had a bad start. He took pole, he had a really bad start, he made up for the bad start, and Mercedes amazing strategy team lucked out, and we had it done. We were gonna chase down LeClaire and win this race, and his wheel shield went into his freaking tire or something. I don't know. The kid was like crying, bro. It was really hard to watch. Very upsetting, man. I just I hate seeing him go down like that, and I hate seeing this lead get diminished. Like his his champion championship lead is now down to like 20 points now, which is such a bummer to like if you lose points when you still get you know seventh, eighth, fourth, whatever. But when you DNF and they get 20 points, it's uh it hurts, bro. It hurts so bad. But McLare instantly jumped out in first place. Amazing start, didn't look back from there. Anthony looks set to win another one, like I said, you know, break issues, shield issues. They also were giving out penalties, like the kid is in sixth, sixteenth freaking place at the time, or something like that. Trying to try to give him a penalty for going off track while his car is broken, so annoying. The Verstappen trap the Verstappen spin out crash because his front wing or his uh what's it called didn't go down, his rear wing. And then the race, they have to finish under race after a safety start, a safety car because of the of a crash, and it was gonna be like uh a showdown, two-lap thing till the end of the race. Everyone was all pumped, everyone's freaking out, and then they just called it. They said that there was a safety car finish, and that was the stand, that was the position. So it was an amazing race, but that was whack. I hated how they ended it. And um, just the championship lead is just it's deadlocked right now. It's I'm I'm shocked how tight how tight it is. I'm shocked how good Ferrari and McLaren's like somehow kind of they just kind of linger. They're just well Ferrari's not lingering, Ferrari's taking over. They were lingering, McLaren's lingering, and now I feel like they're gonna take that next step. And the Red Bull is fast as shit. Like, it's it's a it's the car is insanely quick. It's just heavy and it has mechanical issues, so they're still in it too. Let's go ahead and hit some F1 Academy. It's been a minute since F1 Academy has been around. I know that these girls are rusty. Alicia Palmowski, our championship leader, took the lead instantly from Abby, from Abby pooling, um, right at the beginning, and uh she took it home for the home crowd, for the Red Bull home crowd, and she um just tore it up, dude. Literally from turn one, ate it up, perfect freaking race. And uh she's the championship leader with 108 points, so she has a 30 30-point lead over Felbomarer, and then uh Abby Granita um is uh up there for like 50 points. But it was a super good race. They did the three-race thing where they did like regular reverse order and then reverse flip order or something like that. It's crazy. They they get their they get their rips in for sure. And uh it was a good one to watch. But Elisa Papal Mousey coming home with the Red Bull win for home race. That was sick on her first one back. My weekend winner's gotta be Charles Leclair. I mean, that dude finally pulled through and won one. He he had to have been in tears to finally break through and get that done. It was so sick to be a part of it and watch it because uh I feel bad for him, bro. He's had a rough go at it. So my P22 of the week. I don't want to say Kimmy. I don't I don't want to I'm gonna say Max. I don't want to say Kimmy. Oh Max, man. Third place, the spin out, just like he did in Austria qualifying, rear wing doesn't deploy, you oversteer, put into the wall. The dude's gonna he's gonna he's gonna get get hurt. Like that's the reality of it. But man, what a weekend. What a what a weekend. The race was great. There was drama, there was overtakes, there was strategy, there was weather, there was tire degradation, there was battery degrad um wear and tear, there was safety cars, it was it was sick. But I just want the top dogs to finish. I want the big people to battle it out. I want Lewis and Kimmy to battle it out. I want Charles and Max and George and Lando and Piastri to fight it freaking out, dude. So hard for me to watch, hard for me to sit back and be happy after that one. I was in my car just freaking out, especially the start, man. When they flew by him on the start, I'm like, no, no, no. And then he finally gets back in it. And Lewis knew. Lewis knew he was cooked. Once Kimmy got in that point eight, I was like, oh dude, here we go, baby, here we go. And whatever. Whatever. It's done. It happens. He's still in control, he's still cool, calm, collected. That kid, he's 19, but he's like 35 at in his soul. Like he is very composed, and it's it's in very it's impressive. So I'm excited to see that. F1 uh returns in two weeks for the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa. That's a big one, baby. It's a big one. Then we have one more race, then we have summer break. So I'm excited for that.
