The Blackley Creek Project
This is a winging it, seat-of-the-pants podcast with an experimental format and an appalling lack of structure and professionalism. The topics are whatever sounds fun and interesting and no promises.

Hello, and welcome to the Blackley Creek Project podcast, Season 2, Episode 6, “Title T B D”, May 24, 2024, starring your American Host and your British Host. You are going to name the episode at some point, right? It can't just stay T B D. Why can't it? T B D means "To Be Determined". You can't just not give the podcast episode a title. I think I'm being pretty clear here. The title of the episode is "Title T B D". Do you have determined that the episode title is T B D, which means To Be Determined. Yes. And no. What? Yes, Title T B D is the title of the episode, but the title of the episode is not T B D. Is this some kind of subtle joke? Well, so far it's neither subtle nor funny, so I'm going to have to say no. Should I just hold my questions until the end? Yes, preferably until the end of time. Oh. Well, that's not very nice. As previously mentioned on this podcast, I am your American Host. And I am your British Host. And I am super excited to announce that we have our first commercial. This is wonderful news! The podcast is finding some traction and has gained an advertiser? Let's roll that first commercial. In a world of dreamsand dreamers. In a world of conscienceand consequences. In a world where truthand justiceand goodnessare too often cast asideone man will fight for the weakand the wearyand the paleand downtrodden. My goodness, I'm getting chills. One man will be a light in the darknessa beacon on the hilla calming voice of reason. Is this a political ad? I'm not sure Quiet! Coming this fall Is this a movie? A new podcast. What? Starring the breakout star of The Blackley Creek Project podcast. What? General Anonymous. Are youare you putting me on? What is this? I don't know about you, but I'm excited. Is this a real commercial? Did the General actually pay to have this commercial run on this show? Well, he returned some partially used Dairy Queen gift cards, so at least in some small way, yes, he paid to run that commercial. Did you happen to get his voice guy's name? He sounds like someone I should get to know. Professionally, of course. You know I don't have anyone's name. Except for maybe O E Jack. Still not my name. General Anonymous should still be here on the line with us. It's not as though we simply cease to exist between the podcast episodes. That would be weird. Regardless, let's ask the general about his new podcast endeavor. You really should work through my publicist to get the press release. Wow, that's good thinking. I should get a publicist to help spread the word about this podcast. You don't already have one? Do you listen to the outro? We're pretty clear about not having the most professional approach to any of this. General, can we hire your publicist? We have some partially used Dairy Queen gift cards if they're up for bartering. Yeah, maybe check the balances on those. I don't think they're partially used. Just used. General, what can you tell us about your new podcast? Sure, I'd be happy Hang on. We just got another commercial come in. I'm not sure I consider the first one to be a commercial. At least not in the actual paying commercial sense. Does it have that intro man? Coming this summer Oh. Guess not. A trip through the night life. Well, this is interesting. And the shadows between the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas. Wait, Las Vegas? As seen through the eye of The Blackley Creek Project's breakout star Wait, another one? One Eyed Jack That's not my name, but Vegas is my town. Was this one paid for? Well, kind of, in that O E Jack Still not my name. You need a better running gag, but I guess you made it your catchphrase in your commercial there. I guess I have kind of painted myself into a corner there. A little bit, yes. Anyway, O E Jack has agreed not to pursue collections on what we owe him for reimbursement. So it's like getting paid. Why have you all suddenly decided to hop into the podcast game? Surely you don't look at American Host. I am your American Host. We already did that. Right, yeah, I just got excited. Surely you don't look at American Host and say, "I consider him a role model. I should make career decisions based on following his lead." Hey, I'm not sure that's the kindest way to put it. Well, on my side, I got approached by a media company who wanted to capitalize on my newfound stardom. I was initially hesitant, but then I figured that if American Host could do it, then anyone could. Yeah, I totally agree. If American Host could make a podcast, then why couldn't I make one? What I'm hearing is that I am an inspiration to both of you. I guess that's technically true. General, a quick question about your podcast, if I may? Sure, always happy to answer fan mail when I can't get away from who's asking it. Where exactly did you find your voice man? Oh, are you in the market to hire a voice man? Or maybe you're looking to get back into the voice over business yourself? Yes. Let's say it's one of those options driving my curiosity. Well, I can tell you where I got my voice guy No, that's okay. Anyway, so then the creepy guy staring at us through the video monitor I promise we'll get to you in a minute, Australia. Will you, though? Yes. Pinky promise. Oh, well, if it's a pinky promise, then I'm all in. I'm glad to see someone who takes pinky promises as seriously as I do. I've never met my voice guy. He was just part of the package deal. What kind of package deal? Well, the media company that approached me just offered to take care of all of the production details. It is basically a Name, Image, and Likeness deal. Isn't that the antithesis of your approach to maintaining anonymity? You can't be General Anonymous and also capitalize on your identity. I don't know, man. The check cleared, so it looks like I can, in fact, capitalize on my identity. Isn't that a terrible security risk, or at least some kind of violation of U S military policy? Look, I appreciate your concern, but I have taken steps to ensure that my identity is as secure as possible while still squeezing out of it every nickel I can. Have you by chance met Prince Harry? Great, now the Queen of England is going to be mad at this show. Her Majesty passed away nearly two years ago. I know, but I figure she will haunt us from British royal family heaven for throwing that kind of shade. I don't think there's a special heaven set aside for the royal family. If you were the British royal family, wouldn't you insist on it? Hey, one-eyed man from Las Vegas who goes by a pseudonym he hates. Are you talking to me? I don't know who else I could possibly be talking to. Fair. What can I do for you? Did you also make a deal with a media production company? You mean, was I approached by a shady group of people with unclear motives who offered me money in exchange for self-compromise? Yes. I'm from Vegas. That's like every afternoon. It's like a thunderstorm in Florida. Were you approached about making a podcast? Well, yeah, but it's probably not like how you got approached. Oh, what's your podcast origin story? It's not important. I've seen enough movies to know that anytime someone says "It's not important", it's going to be a major plot point in Act Three. I'm not sure your podcast is broken into acts. Yeah, fair enough. But that doesn't mean I'm wrong. Fine, it was my mom. My mom approached me and said she liked hearing my voice on the podcast and that I should do it more. So was it your mom who approached the General? I'm going to say, No. Look, I appreciate the concern here, everyone. I don't know if we're speaking out of concern. I don't always get the vibe that we're a group who is concerned for each other so much as a group who enjoys poking at each other's flaws and missteps. Exposing every weakness, however carefully hidden by the kid? So, Vegas, your mother is investing in you? She's bankrolling what amounts to your passion project with, what, her retirement savings, so that if you fail she could potentially be homeless? There you go. Exactly what I'm talking about. Uh, not exactly. She offered encouragement, not cash. I think the important thing to understand here is that your mom listens to this podcast. Do we need to send her some merch? She'd probably like that. What kind of merch would she like? Maybe a t-shirt? Do you have any jackets? You mean, like, a windbreaker? Actually, like a leather biker jacket. That's not normally in stock. She's the leader of a little Vegas area Granny Biker gang. A what? Are you talking about the Spiny Gray Shell gang? Yes. That's my mom's gang. So there we were, staring into the face of our nemesis Sorry Australia, but the alien story gets bumped for granny biker gangs. Everyone in the Vegas area knows about the Spiny Gray Shell gang. Even the guys at military installations know them and give them room when they're in Vegas. Do they have that much of a reputation? Do they engage in that much criminal mischief? What? Oh, no, they're super sweet little old ladies. They organize bake sales and support all the local schools. Then why try to avoid them? It's a bunch of little old ladies on giant three-wheel motorcycles. They're terrible drivers. Hey. It's true. They're terrible drivers. I mean, yeah, but you don't have to point it out. So people avoid them just so the grannies don't hit anyone's car. Well, I don't think we have any biker jackets in stock, but I'll look into it. Thank you. So, General, your podcast. What's the name? Oh. It doesn't have a name yet. It's still T B D. Thank you for joining the Blackley Creek Project Podcast. This podcast was made using Voice Over from Speechify Studio.
