Philemon: Koinonia & Forgiveness Philemon 1:4-7

Pastor Will O'Brien

We’re looking at Philemon 4–7, where Paul gives thanks for a man who lived out his faith in a way that refreshed everyone around him. We’ll see that the gospel doesn’t just save us—it shapes us into people who love deeply and stay connected to others. If you’ve been feeling disconnected, stuck in your faith, or unsure how to bless others, this message will meet you right where you are.

Series Overview

The Book of Philemon is a brief personal letter from Paul to his friend Philemon. Paul asks Philemon to forgive his runaway slave, Onesimus. This revolutionary act demonstrates the Gospel in action and shows that all people are equal partners through their fellowship with Christ. In the Messiah, everyone is offered God’s gracious gift of life. Through this grace, believers share a koinonia fellowship and become equal partners, extending forgiveness because Jesus has first forgiven them.
