break um someone cue work by rihanna because that's what I've been doing , yeah , a lot of work . It was really busy . So during the spring , um one of my colleagues who I work really close with , she was on maternity leave and so I kind of stepped into her role while she was out on maternity leave . So I was kind of doing two jobs at once and crushing it . I did kind of do a good job .

But it was a lot so , but yeah , so I did that and that's been good . And then just some like celebrations you know , some friends got married . And then like trips I got to go to colorado and visit some friends and I feel like I did so . I went to vermont and that was fun for a family trip , so it's been good . Yeah , fun . What about you ?

I got married . Yeah , she did so officially . A missus , um , she's a wife . Yep , uh , crazy . It's still weird to hear um , you got two rings on now . Yeah , marlon , I just got used to calling josh my fiance and now it doesn't even matter , I gotta get used to husband now , well , I almost called you a bride and I was like , wait , no , she .

No , she's not a bride , she's a wife , a whole wife . I was talking to my parents were here this weekend and I was talking to my mom and even myself I'm like it's so weird that I'm Mrs , I'm Mrs Freilich , mrs Darby , like what . That's so weird .

I know Well , I still call Josh's mom Mrs Kristen . Really , it's just one of those like I you know , that's the way I was raised I call them mr and mrs kristin , and then it just like they never told me to call them anything else , so it just kind of stuck . Yeah , although she did like I think a few months ago was like you're gonna have to stop calling me that like , but she didn't give me an alternative , so I've just been avoiding addressing her directly all together , because that's the only thing in my brain . But I'm like but now I'm Mrs Christy .

Growing up I was like a Mrs like first name , or Mr First name .

I didn't do last name , but I don't , I think I did Justin's parents , I think I did just like call them their names , I think , because once I got to college I was starting to feel a little more awkward like calling people like Mr and Mrs . That I was like similar , like I don't know , and it's hard when you're the only one too , like so I think I just kind of gauged like what the rest of his friends called them and stuff like that . My mom with Justin , I think , like she gave , like I think her and I brainstormed like what to do , because if it was like my mom , she'd be like he can call me mom , but like that's not . I feel like justin , you know , like I don't know , I was just like I don't know . So she's mama d and that , so that's , that's her , and we like brainstormed it that's good .

Yeah , I a lot of um . The friends called josh's mom joe mama because his little brother's name is joe . I'm like I can't call her that .

Because that just doesn't make sense . But Josh calls my parents Mr and Mrs K , which is , I think , like they told him that they could call him by his first name . But again , we're just kind of stuck in that like hard transition .

It's whenever you're like introduced to first , as you know , like and yeah . Yeah , it's weird , it's tough , it's weird . But you are Mrs Kristen , I am Mrs Kristen , I'm Mrs Fralick Crazy , we are the Mrs .

But yeah , that was pretty much my entire life up through the wedding . Still a little bit now afterwards , but we've definitely come down from that .

It was a gorgeous wedding . It was so like when you think of someone who , like puts in so much detail and like genuine thought , and not even for like yourself , but just for like a guest's perspective . It was so great and so like you . There were so many book elements . To our listeners that was . They were so fun . Her seating chart was a , a bookcase my pride and joy , yeah that she made herself with her cricket , and you thrifted books right , I thrifted books .

My grandma had a bunch of old encyclopedias I was able to use , so I got fabric on the clearance sale at Joanne's and I glued and covered and then used the cricket to add the names on the spine . I'll share pictures .

So people got to write their own stories , which was cool , it was all so great , it was so special . Thank you . Yeah , it was honestly , truly the perfect day . Like nothing went wrong , beautiful weather , like everything just was like falling perfectly in the place .

Um listeners , my husband said he had more fun at this wedding than ours in a different way , it definitely helps that you're not the one getting married , but we had a little more free time on our hands yeah , josh , and I had a great time , though , and it was so nice and everybody was able to come , and you just like felt surrounded by so much love . And I had a great time , though , and it was so nice and everybody was able to come , and you just like felt surrounded by so much love and it was a fun party and , yeah , couldn't couldn't have asked for a better day shout out Friday weddings yeah , two day like recovery was so great that does help .

Yeah , we were a little nervous about it because trying to like ask people to take time off from work to come to the Friday but I think people actually really appreciated that and it helped to seeing , like extended family that came in for the weekend , so then you were able to like see them a little bit longer too , kind of thing , without such a quick turnaround . Um , yeah , everything just worked out perfectly . But that's pretty much my only update , because that was the only thing going on in my life for a while .

There's I love that well from the break , what was your five star and one star moment , or of , like the summer ?

um , okay , well , definitely five star would be the wedding , obviously , obviously . Um , my one star moment uh , rip , pizza rizzo at disney world's hollywood studios . Um , so for listeners who don't know Me , at Walt Disney World Hollywood Studios they had the Muppets Courtyard where they had like the Muppet Vision 3D , like it's not a ride but like experience show kind of thing , and they have this quick service restaurant called pizza rizzo , based off of like the rat rizzo in um for like the whole muppets and it's just personal size pizzas that are , like you know , the frozen pieces heat up really quick .

Josh and I are obsessed . We love them . There's something about the pizzas that are just like chef's kiss and it's a little pixie dust on top it's wrapped pizza you can't beat it .

That's like the whole slogan , if you know , you know , anyway , but they're redoing a lot of parts in Hollywood Studios now , including the Muppet Courtyard that's being like rethemed , I believe , to Monsters Incor , monsters incorporated from what I've heard . Don't quote me on that if that's wrong , but I'm pretty sure that's right . Um , I do know that whole courtyard , though , is being closed and renovated to be completely rethemed , so the muppets in that area are no more , and thus pizza rizzo is no more . We did make a trip out . We did wear t-shirts that said RIP Pizza Rizzo , oh my gosh , and we did get a picture . Are we crazy ? Yes , was it really that deep ? No , but it was to us .

It's just a funny theming for Muppets people . I know a lot of people don't like them , but we like them and it was just fun . No , that is fun . Anyway , what about you ? What are your five-star one-stars ?

So kind of similar . Obviously , putting on those two large-scale events were my five-star . One of them was like a record-breaking event raising more than half a million dollars to grant wishes .

Yeah , it was . Just it's hard to explain events , because most large scale events that a person will plan in their lifetime is a wedding , which is a huge deal in itself , um , but it's fundraising . Events are kind of hard cause . It's not just the event , but it's also like the fundraising aspect of the event and it being know like not just like you know 200 people , but like over a thousand people and there's a lot more vendors . Like it's just crazy and I'm just a girl , so you're a girl who crushed . Thank you , it was really cool .

I was really proud of myself and I learned that maybe I can't take compliments because so many people were giving me like lots of like kudos and praise a lot because of my demeanor . I was so calm during like event weeks , which that's like not always the case with some event coordinators and leads , but people just kept telling me how calm they felt about the events and helping with the events because of like the calmness that I radiated , which was really cool . That was such a neat compliment , um , and makes me feel like proud of myself , so that was really great . I'm proud of you , thank you . So I loved it . I can't wait for when our friends can go to like we . I plan to walk in a gala for the listeners and I'm excited for one day when our friends can like get a table at a gala and they can like see .

Because it's like , even like my parents came to the gala , which was also really cool because you're always like , are you proud of me ? And it's like I want you to see what I did , like you don't . Some people don't understand how big it is until they're there . So it was kind of hard for me to think there wasn't like a specific moment . But , honestly , cleaning it's forever , it never ends , ever and it's really a bummer . So that's what a one star . Because it's like , as soon as I cleared the table , it's the next week and things go back on the table . And as soon as I put the dishes away , now I gotta clean the sink . Because there's like , as soon as I cleared the table , it's the next week and things go back on the table . Yeah , or you deep clean the house to have guests over and then when guests are over it gets freaking messy again and now I feel like I have to deep clean it again . I've really been . I'm not in a place where I can afford like someone to come once a month and like , do , like the baseboards and like the stuff . I really don't want to do , but I really want to get someone to come in once a month .

Actually , I've been seeing this debate on TikTok and I'm curious if you had to hire either a personal chef or a housekeeper Housekeeper , see , I think I would go . Personal chef no , because as much as I hate the cleaning , I despise grocery shopping .

Yeah , that's neat , though I mean grocery shopping you should do where you can do it online , and then you pull up and they just bring you your groceries I tried .

I've tried doing a bunch of different things . We've tried like the hello fresh , which works for a little bit . It's been hard for us because josh travels a lot for his work and so then it's like cooking for myself , which is even harder to do when it's hard enough for me to cook just for two of us .

Actually , josh has been cooking more , which so he's been kind of like dabbling in that , having fun with that when he is here , which is fun . So he's kind of starting to take that on a little bit more , which I'm like , by all means , because I just it's not even the . I enjoy the process of cooking and the payoff . The process of cooking and the payoff , it's the planning and everything to lead up to that . It's the figuring out the recipe . What do you need ? Going to the store and like all of those little steps that lead up to like actually getting the meal and like the ingredients to cook that I just yeah , it's exhausting .

Maybe I need to send you some like simpler recipes . You know , like a five items or less , like everything , or because a lot of times I think the ingredients that can get overwhelming are like the spices , but then once you buy one of them , it's like you're going to have garlic powder for like a year , you know . So I'll send you what Justin and I do , what we do . It's so basic . We just put like Monday , tuesday , like we put the week in our notes , and then we just say like what we're gonna do for that week for dinners and who's gonna cook what , and then a lot of times we'll leave the weekend like open , or we'll throw a day if we can't think of something like and we'll leave it open , or maybe that'll be a leftover day or frozen pizza night , um , but I have seen josh and I talked about starting this once his traveling schedule dies down a little bit more .

On TikToks I don't remember who it was because it was a while ago , but somebody said instead of meal prepping they protein prep . So they'll buy like chicken or ground beef or whatever and they'll just cook it all and put it in the fridge or the freezer . And that way you're not having to like plan out your meals per se ahead of time , because if your taste changed like if you decide you want you , you know you plan tacos for tuesday , but then tuesday comes around and you're like I really don't want tacos . Well , then it keeps it flexible , because then you can choose whatever protein and it's already cooked . It takes that time away , so you're just adding it into like a sauce or adding it to like a sheet pan or something , or like adding the extra sides to it , so it's all cooked together , which I thought was an interesting take on meal prepping . So then you're not like eating the same thing over again or having to remember to go to the store to pick up everything either every day or everything for the week .

Yeah , I think too I don't know if that would work for me , but that is interesting . I've seen that with produce , because that's my hardest part about cooking is like the chopping of the vegetables and the cleaning of the fruit and everything that's where I'm like , oh , this is gonna take forever being an adult man .

It's just , it's exhausting . You don't realize it until you're here , and then you're like it , it's never ending .

It's never ending . And I was at . I went to the mall yesterday with my mom , which was a bad idea because it was like tax-free weekend or whatever , and back to school and it's summer and we live in a touristy area . It's just crazy . But even so , I was like looking in some of like the high-end designer stores who are just like window shopping , and I'm like this is so insane designer stores who are just like window shopping . And I'm like this is so insane , like thinking about just having like like an irrational amount of wealth . Like all of these stores are so like unattainable , like I can't buy anything here . I can't even buy like a little wallet there . And it's like for what and why do you get to use nice quality fabrics and I have to go use something cheap , right , I don't know . Maybe I'm like spiraling , but I was just like this is such a bummer , I don't know . I was just I don't know .

I was like that's so crazy why can't I just buy things , yeah , why can't I win the lottery ? That's where I'm at right now . Reality just hits real hard sometimes , and it's not , it's a one-two punch that you never look forward to , no and that's why we live in our books .

I'm really excited about this one because I've been like circling the Brandon Sanderson universe for a while Just kind of intimidated . There's a lot I'm trying to figure out when and where I want to like start and everybody says Mistborn is a good like starter spot and it's really good . It's like a trilogy , so it's not like super time consuming or anything like that , and it's a fantasy book so we get to go and escape the reality for a little bit I hope it's fun , it'll be good .

Like a third of justin's cousins have read it and I was like , oh my gosh , it's crazy . Yeah , he's like huge . You said when you brought this up because it's probably close to a year ago that you brought up like wanting to get into brandon sanderson I was like I have no who that is , but I'm down because whatever you say I'm usually down for . And then when I looked into him I was like holy cow , this guy is a pretty , pretty big author .

Yeah , so he's really popular . That's what one of Josh's cousins at the wedding was talking to me about him too and I'm like , oh , you should read this guy . Oh , yeah , no , I've heard him . So we were talking a little bit about that because I guess he's an avid reader too . Yeah , no , I'm excited to dip my toes in this .

I think it'll be fun because I think it'll be good to get into kind of like an epic fantasy world . Not that I don't love , like our romantic fantasy worlds , but it'll just be something different , which will be good .

I can't speak for the rest of the books in the series , but I'm pretty sure what I've seen like the first one isn't too bad , like sized , like nothing crazy kind of book too . Oh , I am such a greek mythology girly and just seeing like I know this has been like talked about for a long time and I just it seems like it's going to be like . It seems like it's just going to be huge , getting like oppenheimer kind of feel , where it's like movie of the like the summer kind of I don't know when it's coming out , but like that's kind of like feel to it . Movie of the year , yeah yeah I don't know .

And then Zendaya I'm not sure who she is because that's the older thing too . They're kept very tight-lipped . So on IMDb , if you go , you can see all the actors , but it only lists who's playing Odysseus and that Tom Holland's playing his son , like I probably had to put Tom Holland , because we know he can't keep a secret .

Just put his out there already , it's so true , so well that'll be interesting yeah , I'm very curious to see how that goes um , and I hope that it lives up to the hype that I'm building in my brain , um , but I think that'll be good . Yeah , um , a few more like book to movie adaptation news that I've been seeing the Housemaid movie coming out with Sidney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried . That one's kind of old news but like new news . And since we haven't talked about it in the pod since our break , I think it's great casting .

Did you finish it or was that you didn't finish that one ? But that was my critique of it , that you said that it would be better .

Is that I think that it had nothing to do with the plot . It had everything to do with the writing that I didn't like , and so I think that I'd be really interested to see it in like a movie , tv series sort of format , and so I am very curious to see the movie now , and I do think the casting was not one I would have picked , but when I heard it it made sense agreed , agreed .

Wives . This was way back in the day but we read this the Hunting Wives , as a book club book back before we did the pod , and this was a book that Michaela didn't finish and it really wasn't a great book . I gave it like a two stars , maybe three stars . It made me feel icky . Yeah , it was kind of an icky one , um , but the it came out in a series and I was like , oh , maybe it'll be better as a series .

Oh , my gosh , they made it so like raunchy and sexy and like I literally thought I was watching , like , like it was just like way too porny . Like there's more to the story and yeah , a lot of the story has to do with like lust and um stuff , but it was just way too much for me in particular . Um yeah , so I hope that it doesn't take a turn . Any book to screen can go one or two ways . But I really feel like that the Housemaid has some good potential .

It's like don't do too much , just do what the book said . That's I think . What I'm nervous for is that they're going to try and add more to it which is what the Hunting Wives has done . Um , but if they can just do the movie like the book and not do too much , yeah , I think it'll be really good we shall see .

I am excited , though another casting that came out that I sent you immediately when I saw it was for the Nightingale which is going , our favorite book , love . Um , I cry . But Dakota and Elle Fanning got cast as the sisters , which is again another like casting I would have never pulled , but when I saw it it made sense in my brain yes , they were definitely brunette in my head when I was reading the books .

But , like this show makes sense , I'm so intrigued to see like who's gonna play like which sister . And yeah , I'm really interested and I feel like , well , I'm not really familiar with the fanning sisters . I mean , I'm obviously familiar with them , but I don't know if I've really seen them in roles like this together . I don't know .

I don't think they've done anything together that I've seen . Yeah , I would assume that Dakota would be Vivian , is that right ? Yeah , I could see that too , and then Elle would be Isabel , because they're older and younger in that way .

But she's like , no , no , no , trust , trust , you have to watch this movie . Yeah , okay . So I went over and I watched with her . I was like , okay , yeah , this is pretty good . Yeah , um , it feels very much like , at least for me , the story of the movie . It's a kid's movie and it's animated , so like it's still it's gonna be cheesy , you know , and um , it isn't like super serious by any means . They . Oh , I finally read house of flame and shadow by sarah j mass michaela has conquered the sjm universe . I have , I have it's about time .

I was like , just in time before the new ektar book craze starts again , um , so I am officially all caught up . I did give it three stars . It's not my favorite of hers , which hurts my heart to say . I had some qualms about it . It just felt overstimulating to me . I think there was a lot going on all at once that it wasn't necessarily hard to keep up with , but it was just the constant movement between things . And now there's this and all of a sudden you're getting this information and you're just this . And all of a sudden you're getting this information and you're just , like you know , juggling all these different plot points and subplot points and , um stuff . That just became a lot for me . Um , I enjoyed the overarching plot of it though . I thought it was good and obviously it was well written . It's sarah , but love my girl sarah , uh , but this one specifically , just like it wasn't for me out of all of them , but I will be curious to see .

I think she has announced that she's doing a fourth one yeah and that one will be more pivoted towards a focused on a different character , kind of like a court of silver flames type of vibe . So I'll be curious to see what that one is like agreed , I'll read anything she writes , but same yeah yeah , and then for bor , obviously , mistborn , our book club book for this month .

And then I am going to do a little palette cleanser beforehand , a little silly little romance of some sorts I haven't decided on what yet Emily Henry , Maybe I was looking before we started recording . I might try her out , give it a shot . So I'll probably do one of those , but I just haven't decided on what yet . And then Mistborn so what about you ?

Love it ? Okay , burrows , heart of the Everflame by Penn Coles this is a third in that Spark of the Everflame , which it's been really good , but how many books total ? Right now , only three , okay , and I think the fourth one comes out like a year from now or something . So I'm a little bummed . Yeah , I did know going into it that it wasn't finished , but I'm gonna forget it all by the time I'm gonna have to read it . But it's fine , it's really good . And then Returns , the Off Limits Rule by Sarah Adams . Um , and I gave that a three stars . So it's good , nothing crazy , but I'm so happy we're here , we're back , baby , we did it . Oh yeah , so hopefully we'll see you on Fable Read Mistborn with us . I have no idea what Brandon Sanderson is like , his writing style or anything , so I'm so excited to jump in . Jump in with us .
