Growing Up With Vince & Jeremy
We grew up in the UK from 1970 to 1990. This show is all about the two of us looking back and putting bits of our shared past under the microscope, from the early ‘80s ‘Protect and Survive’ /Mutually Assured Destruction nuclear panic, to the theme music from The Incredible Hulk; from Wimpy Burgers to wimpy Orac from Blake’s 7; from the Falklands War to Falco’s Rock Me Amadeus. We look back with fondness and bafflement and sometimes with abject disbelief at what life was like when we were growing up.

S02E03 Trouble At Mill (The Compleat Beatles (1982) /The Final Countdown by Europe (1986) / Pebble Mill At One (1972-1986)
Welcome to Episode 3 of our second series. This month, Vince discusses the seismic effect that watching 'The Compleat Beatles' had on him as a twelve year old, leading to a love affair with The Fab Four that has lasted over forty years.
Jeremy casts his mind back with fond remembrances of the BBC staple 'Pebble Mill At One', this being one of the first daytime programmes the BBC commissioned (other than educational TV). Jeremy remembers coming home for lunch, watching a bizarre mix of chat, music, and other 'items of interest' with wide eyed amazement.
As is our wont, we look into another UK number 1 from 1970-1990. This time, the fickle randomiser of fate picks out 'The Final Countdown' by Euro Poodle Rockers, Europe, sitting atop the chart in December '86 for two weeks.
