There is no possible way to get away, and I'm not talking about one of those bad dreams where you can't escape someone chasing you. This inability to get away is actually a comforting fact.

not lesser than God. There's another example here, but we'll we'll press forward. Another air, a way that we can prove that the Holy Spirit of God is to point out that the Holy Spirit has the attributes of God. And so if the Spirit has the attributes of God, then the Spirit must be God. Right? So we know lots of attributes, you know, right? We know lots of attributes. We love the attributes of God. Sir J. Lewis is the mnemonic device that I've used over the years, and many of you have used. Sir J. Lewis. That's just a way to memorize some of it. There are other attributes of God. We could also say, of course, He's personal, we could say He's truth or veracity. We could say He has immensity. We have to define all these things, but that's a short list, Sir J. Lewis. And if we find those attributes in reference to the Holy Spirit, then we would say that the Holy Spirit is God.
So, first of all, he is holy. It's interesting, he is called the Holy Spirit. I don't know if I ever really thought about it until this week. I mean, we refer to him as the Holy Spirit all the time, but holiness is one, just one attribute of God. But it's the one that is ascribed to the Spirit. I mean, we don't typically say uh refer to him as the omnipotent spirit or the loving spirit or the omniscient spirit. But typically he's called the Holy Spirit, right? So it made me wonder why was that particular attribute the one that is assigned to him most predominantly? I came up with a couple ideas. One, because holiness means separate, means to set apart. So he is the set apart spirit. I mean, there's lots of spirits, in other words, in the universe. All angelic beings are spirit being, and all humans have a human spirit, and even animals have an animal spirit. But there's only one Holy Spirit, one who's set apart from all these other spirits. That could be what is being highlighted with this concept. Um, but there are other concepts of holiness, such as pure purity and perfection. And of course, he is pure and he is perfect. And by that means, it makes him separate from all the other spirits. Um I don't know entirely why, but he is typically called the Holy Spirit. I don't know if we need to look at any verses because you know there's hundreds of verses. Uh we've even seen some today already in John 16. So that's the first attribute that we see attributed to him.
Also, though, omnipresence, one of the great psalms, Psalm 139. You know, you can say that with any psalm, by the way. One of the great psalms. They're all great, but you know, we do that. Psalm 139. What we usually mean by great is this one really impacts me. Right? Psalm 139. And you'll notice there in verse 1 that the subject is Yahweh, right? YHWH. Oh, YHWH, oh Lord, you have searched me and known me. Most of it, the yews are referring repeatedly to Yahweh. And then you come down to verse 7, and David says, Where can I go from your spirit? That is from Yahweh's spirit. Where can I flee from your presence? So where can you go from where can I go from your spirit? In other words, where can I get outside of the purview of the spirit? And of course, it's rhetorical, but the answer is nowhere, right? If I go to heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, you are there. If I take the wings of the dawn, if I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, even there your hand will lead me, and your right hand will lay hold of me. Um, there's nowhere we can go where the Holy Spirit is not entirely there. So maybe we take Trump up on his thing that we want to go to Mars or something like that. Can you get away from the Spirit of God or be uh further from His presence if you are on Mars? No, he's as much on Mars as he is here with us now. So he is omnipresent, right? And this is of course to be comforting.
