Week 4 Reaction: OU Tops Auburn, Texas Tech & Indiana Get Dominating Wins | Just Another CFB Podcast

Tommy Bresee Season 2 Episode 32

Week 4 was full of statement moments—teams trying to make a case, others trying to recover. On this episode of Just Another College Football Podcast, we’re breaking down what we learned, who made waves, and which games could have season-defining impacts.

First, Texas Tech looked the part of a serious contender. In Salt Lake City, they dominated Utah 34-10—bullying the line of scrimmage, controlling tempo, and showing depth even after injuries. Backup QB Will Hammond came in and looked sharp, making accurate throws and delivering under pressure. This week, Texas Tech didn’t just win—they sent a warning.

Then, the big matchup: Oklahoma vs. Auburn. The former Sooners’ QB Jackson Arnold made his return to Norman, and the spotlight was on him—and Oklahoma’s defense answered in a historic way. The Sooners recorded nine sacks (some sources report 10) in a 24-17 win, including a game-clinching sack safety in the final minute. John Mateer came up big with a late touchdown run, and OU’s defense turned Auburn’s offense upside down.

We also look at other under-the-radar statements (looking at you, Indiana), coaches whose stock rose or fell, and bold predictions going into Week 5. This episode is for the fans who care about momentum, narrative, and who’s building vs. who’s just surviving.
