This weeks guest James went to university and began to build a successful career, only to realise that it wasn’t really what he wanted to do!
As you will hear, James decided that he didn’t want to be that person in the retirement home saying “If only I could do it all again”
He is absolutely right. We only get one life and I believe that as we spend so much time at work we should do something that fulfills us, rather than make us want to hide under the duvet! Consider the reality that Liam faced in episode 3 (Open in iTunes, Acast or search for this in your preferred podcast player). Don’t wait for a life changing event to make you realise that you need to do what’s best for you!
"Liam I don’t know what I want to do!" I hear some of you cry, I know the feeling. It's ok not to know what it is you want to do. Don’t get too stressed out! Simply try the things that interest you and if they don’t work out, then at least you know you tried and it's time to try something else.
James chose to become a Pilot, this is of course is a dream job for many. As James explains, it's a huge commitment but part of the reason James has been successful is because he has the drive and determination to become an expert in his field.

Key Takeaways
Ask yourself "Can I do this?" If you don't try, are you going to be the one in the retirement home saying "If only I could do it all again"
Often there is a romantic view of being a pilot, but there is more sacrifice than people see.
Responsibility beyond the minimum requirements.
Be a team player – efficient teams work better together than just an individual "out for themselves".
Be honest. Be responsible for your successes / failures and learn from them. Just like in Jade's episode, don’t be afraid to fail, its ok as long as you learn from it.
Decide on your priorities. It's ok to find a job where it pays the bills or indeed to find something that offers you a better work / life balance. Ultimately find a position that suits you, not just one that you are pushed into or towards.
If it starts to go wrong, don’t panic! Stay strong and remember why you are doing this.
Find a reason to continue when it gets tough!
It can be hard to figure out your passion, and that’s ok. Relax, sometimes you can "accidentally" find something that you are drawn to.
Following your dream does not necessarily mean that it will be easy!
