Disrupting Obesity
The Disrupting Obesity podcast is for anyone who’s looking to lose an extreme amount of weight and change their relationship with food so they can keep the pounds off. If you’re tired of feeling judged for being fat, of excluding yourself or being left out, and using food to comfort, reward, and cope with your emotions and the day to day, don’t waste time beating yourself up. You absolutely have what it takes to lose a significant amount of weight naturally in a way that you can sustain and that will ensure you keep the weight off too.
Hosted by Charlotte Skanes, a weight loss coach who lost and is keeping off over two hundred pounds, this show will give you the strategies and mindset you need to drop the weight. It’s going to encourage you and motivate you so that you can build the confidence and self-belief to find the healthiest version of yourself. It’s not about the food. It’s about your relationship with food. Once you start to change that relationship you can start disrupting obesity.

005 Comfort, Reward, Cope
When you get down to the root cause of why you're eating other than to nourish your body, odds are you're eating to either comfort, reward, or cope. These are the three horsemen of overeating.
When you start thinking differently about food and learning to treat it more as fuel, you start to feel differently about it too. This way, smaller amounts become much more satisfying than what you're used to.
In today's episode, we'll cover how you can start looking at food as fuel instead of an emotional band-aid. I'll also discuss why education about nutrition doesn't help the majority of people with weight loss.
What You'll Learn:
- The three horsemen of overeating and how to become aware of them
- The good food vs. bad food debate
- The benefits of making small changes to what you eat
- Why fear-mongering doesn't help people with weight loss
- The inverse relationship between nutritional information and losing weight
- The difference between enjoying eating and enjoying food
- You don't need a super strict diet to lose weight
- How to change your mindset about food
