Philadelphia Eagles Lose Frustrating Game to the Commanders, Cannot Get the 2 Seed to End the Season
The regular season finale didn't go quite as planned at Lincoln Financial Field. Despite having a shot at the #2 seed, the Philadelphia Eagles (11-6) fell 24-17 to the Washington Commanders in a game defined by rested starters, backup battles, and a whole lot of frustration.
In this episode, we break down the Week 18 fallout:
The Seeding Slide: With the loss, the Eagles officially land as the No. 3 seed in the NFC. We discuss the implications of missing out on the #2 spot (which went to the Bears) and why the path to the Super Bowl now likely includes a trip to Chicago or Seattle instead of staying at home.
The "Tanner McKee" Experience: With Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley watching from the sidelines, backup QB Tanner McKee took the reins. We analyze his performance (21-of-40, 241 yards, 1 TD)—from the beautiful touchdown strike to Grant Calcaterra to the late-game struggles that allowed Washington to pull ahead.
1K for Slim Reaper: A major bright spot! DeVonta Smith surpassed the 1,000-yard receiving mark for the third time in his career on a clutch 27-yard jump ball. We celebrate Smith’s consistency and his importance heading into the postseason.
Defensive Letdown?: While the defense saw a big interception from Jalyx Hunt, they ultimately couldn't stop 39-year-old Josh Johnson when it mattered most. We look at the tackling issues and whether "resting" defensive starters created a loss of rhythm heading into January.
Wild Card Preview: 49ers vs. Eagles: It’s official. The defending champs will begin their postseason journey at home against the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday at 4:30 PM. We give our initial thoughts on this massive rematch and what the Birds need to fix to avoid a "one and done."
