307: Trial of a Major Criminal Case; How it Works
Today we will be talking about the process involved in the trial of any major criminal case. This podcast is more informative than drama, but I hope it will set the stage for how jury trials work in the highest level trial courts of the great state of Texas, and give you a better understanding of the criminal justice system in Texas. Getting a jury selected and seated in a major criminal case is a complex, time consuming process that is intended to provide a fair and unbiased jury at the beginning of the case. I hope this introduction will help you understand the process and if you receive a jury summons, I encourage you to go and participate. Jury service is one of the great rights provided by our form of laws and our constitution. In my opinion, jury service is every bit as important as any other kind of public service. Be sure to take your turn at it when the opportunity comes up.
