Well, if you ever struggled with making your quiet time really a good routine and sticking to it, then this episode is for you. Stay tuned for after the music and we will be right back and talk about the key steps that you can take to make your quiet time stick once and for all. Welcome to the Heal the Healers podcast, where we explore the intersection of faith and medicine. Discover your God-given potential and experience Christ's healing in the midst of medical burnout. I'm your host, Inga Hoffman, a pediatric key mock doc, physician, coach, and follow of Jesus. Together we will navigate the challenges of medicine, integrate faith into our personal and professional lives. Experience, spiritual renewal and find restoration in Christ. Welcome to the Heal the Healers, where Christ heals one physician and one patient. Well, hello there and welcome to another episode of Heal the Healers. I'm Inga Hoffman, your host, and I wanna share a little bit about how you really can create a powerful, quiet time routine. How to reset your quiet time. As physicians, we very well understand that quiet time sometimes can be sort of a hit or miss. We have incredible busy schedules that sometimes seem to be ever changing, and it can be really difficult to just stay on track with your quiet time. So I wanna give you some super quick tips. It's essentially. A recap of the amazing quiet time reset challenge hosted just a little over a week ago. We had a really great time in there and I wanna make sure that you get some of the nuggets if you miss the quiet time. Reset. Challenge now. The recordings actually still up in the Facebook group, and I will link the Facebook group the Heal the Healers community into the show notes here. So please check that out. You are welcome if you are a Christian physician, follow of Jesus who I want to learn more about Jesus and how to follow him as a question physician then please. Joined this Facebook group. It's really purely focused on equipping and encouraging. There's no politics in there and no drama. Just starting up this group to really equip those that are eager to be equipped in this season. And I invite you to join us in there. You would be so welcome. The recording of the Quiet Time Reset Challenge, which was a quite extensive training. I did over three days. Is in that Facebook group. Now, I have to tell you that Facebook changes how long you can keep stuff up there. So I don't know how long it will be still available because I know Facebook lives now get deleted after 30 days. So please don't wait a moment because those recordings already have been up for a couple weeks. Get in there if you want to get the full. Training where I go in detail, you can find worksheets and really help you to reset your quiet time. But I thought I'm going to give you at least a few tips to get started today so that you have a baby step and a starting point to reset your quiet time. Now I don't have to tell you why quiet time is important. It is so that we can spend time with the Lord in. Company with him in relationship with him so that we can learn what he's about, his character, his will for our life, whether in general we find that will in the Bible. And so all sorts of instructions, but also for our personal life. But it is also for us to be encouraged to learn how to hear his voice. Perhaps give you direction for a season you are in. So all these things are incredibly important and we don't get to form a relationship with somebody in the natural. And the same is true for God if we don't spend time with that person. So this is my encouragement to you today, wherever you are. On your quiet time journey, maybe you are like, I'm really struggling. I haven't had a quiet time in a long time. I'm so glad you're here, and these tips will really help you. Perhaps you are on the other end of the tum and you'll say. You know what? I have a solid, quiet time routine. I feel really good about it. And I hear the Lord crystal clear. I read my Bible. I pray I am on fire for Jesus. I meet with him in, in my secret place in the intimacy of the early cracks of the dawn. Every day I'm a Christian on fire. Nothing can knock me over. That's also awesome, wonderful. Praise the Lord. And perhaps you find yourself anywhere in between, but I know this, that no matter where you are on that spectrum, just like in the natural, we work on relationships we work on our relationship with God. So you might have a perfect marriage, for example, and you'll say, I am in my honeymoon face. It's all wonderful if you don't keep on investing into that relationship and just sail and cruise along on your current high. I. It'll crash in the same way is true for God. We all have had a spiritual high where I feel like nothing can knock me over, but even I can tell you I haven't had a solid quiet time now for, I don't know, a number of years where I really haven't missed a day. And I'm not saying that to sort of both. I'm just telling you the reality of. I don't always feel like it either. I've made it a discipline and I do know that if I don't continue to work on this relationship and continue to work on that discipline and continue to grow and go deeper, it will crash and burn just like it did all the years before. So I wanna encourage you. Even if you're on fire right now, you feel like nothing's, I'm inri. That's that you need to press in even harder. At least that's what I have found. And in the natural that is very true. So why would it be any different in our relationship with God? That we have to just invest time. So without going too much into it, let me quickly share some tips. I wanna keep this. Brief and some focused nuggets. I've had many podcasts and YouTube episodes these days that were much longer. So I wanna keep it brief, but one thing I do wanna make sure is that you oops, I did a mistake here on my screen. Maybe I didn't see it. Make sure you follow the show on YouTube podcast, wherever you're following the show. And follow me on Facebook. It's all at Heal the Healers. And I will put the links in the show notes, whether you're watching on YouTube or on the podcast platform. And then please do me a favor subscribe to the show, share the show, and leave a review. Preferable a good review, a five star review. To that really blesses me. It makes my day, it also helps other physicians that are struggling actually see this content. And so please share it rightly. Don't keep it to yourself. Hoarders is not something we do in the, in the kingdom of God. So share if you find this helpful in any way. So let's dive right in. Quiet time. How can I reset my quiet time? There's really three components to quiet time that I think are incredible helpful. And the first one is that we need to read the word, which means we need to read our Bible. So this is really ABC's, but I want you to catch this and not gloss over and say, I know this already. I want you to be really intentional and say, okay, I need to read the word, because the word of God is his inspired word. This is where we learn about how his character, his will, and what he is like, what he doesn't like, how he interacts with us as people, how gracious and merciful is. But also how righteous and just he is. And if we don't read that word carefully, we will fall short and actually don't quite understand number one, his will. We might not really understand how he is sometimes acting or how we feel, so it isn't ongoing. Deeper study of the word that is really critical. Again, I go a ton deeper in the quiet time reset, but what I want you to get out of this is make sure you find a designated time during the day preferable first thing in the morning. I'm not a morning person, but I believe very much in the giving God the first portion of your day as a sacrifice. And honestly, people say this, but I found this to be very true. My day goes a lot better and I have the right focus. So do it somewhat in the morning. Depending on the season of life, this might be before you get up, before you meet anybody else, like your little children. For me, that used to be before I open the bedroom door and enter the kitchen and get everybody ready for school. Now it's more like I get people ready for school and then I have an extended quiet time. My season of life and my schedule has changed. I'm focused more on ministry than a daytime job in the hospital. But nevertheless, you can find a way to fit it in and start small. Start small with just a few minutes if that's all you have in, build a habit and build it up from there. So that's the first time. Read your Bible, pick a time that you can stick to for in this season. And ask the Lord what is a good time to meet? And you will know intuitively what works for you as well. But again, I like mornings because I also know if I wait until the evening, I usually will put it off and in the middle of the day forget about it. Too much chaos. I have no, we all have very little control over the middle portion of our day, especially if you are on a clinical job. It's really difficult. So pick a time. Pick a timeframe. How long are you going to spend time in quiet time, and then just get started at the beginning. If you are starting way back at the beginning, it is more important to form a habit then to have a lengthy Bible study time, and I will put the link to an early episode in the show notes, how to read the Word of God. Tips on reading your Bible as a busy physician. I give a lot more tips there. So that's the first one. Read your word and pick the time for that. Number two, prayer goes right along with your quiet time. So typically, I tend to read my Bible first and then I pray and prayer can look in different ways. It is number one, it is a conversation with God, which means it is a two way street. I'm not just going and dump my prayer request in front of the Lord, but also I'm listening and I'm quiet so that I can quiet my mind and my heart and my soul and attune myself to what he has to say. Sometimes my prayers will come out in words spoken out loud. Sometimes they might be also written in journaling and I will create another episode for you and how journaling has helped me hear the voice of God. So stay tuned for that. That will be probably the next one or the second one after that I'm releasing. So pray is number two. Number three. The component of your quiet time is hearing the voice of God more clearly. And this really goes alongside with prayer, but I feel it is very important to underline it and highlight it as a separate aspect because it is so critical. Because if we don't know how to hear the voice of God, we are in trouble. We are not better than anybody else. And you can hear his voice in many different ways. And I go again in detail about how God speaks in the quiet Time Reset challenge that you can find still inside my Facebook group. But what I would say, you, and it's free by the way, but what I would say to you, he can speak to you of course, through the word, through the logos word, by reading your Bible. Often he speaks in the very quiet, ever so gentle voice to you. It might sound to me, it sounds like the best mentor I ever had. A gentle, yet very directive voice that is instructing me. Some people hear him out loudly. He can speak to you in dreams and visions and all sorts of different ways were through other people. But the foremost one, what I want you to get, especially as you're starting out, and if you are maybe picking up your quiet time routine, I've talked to so many physicians and the biggest struggle for them as well as myself, I used to be like that. What is God saying I couldn't hear is actually hearing him for yourself. In this gentle, quiet voice that is the most important one that you should get started on, and that is an A, b, C of our faith. But I know a lot of times we struggle with that. So the three components are, read your Bible, then pray. And then listen to what he has to say and hear the word more closely and hear the voice of God more closely. In order for you to be successful, I would recommend just get started with a habit. Again, pick a time, pick a place, and just stick with it for a while. And then also pick. What you're gonna read for example, you might wanna think about a Bible reading plan. It is not that hard to get through the entire Bible in a year, in just 15 minutes a day. I know it's a shocker because it seems such an overwhelming task. You can do it for more tips. Again, I'm going to link the in the show notes, the links to past episodes as well as to the Facebook group for the full quiet time research training. And I also wanna let you know if you are like, man, I need mentorship, I need, I need an anger in my life every day. Who kind of walks me alongside. Me in my physician career and my walk in faith with the Lord as a question physician. Well you are in luck because I am now opening or the enrollment for the Heal the Healers Mentorship Program, which is the mentorship program that I created for question Physicians is now open for enrollment. And you can scan the QR code that is here on the bottom of this page. If you are on the podcast, I will link the enrollment page inside the show notes so that you can enroll. Enrollment is open until Sunday, the 27th at midnight. This is basically the first big spring cohort for this year that we are rolling out. It's a very intimate group of people, physicians that are at all walks of life, at all stages in their faith and all stages in their career from all sorts of specialties. And that's the beauty of it. It is really a community of physicians to be equipped. To be restored and healed, but to equipped in faith and empowered to walk as Christian physicians and be led by the Holy Spirit. So we are finishing up a series on finding your assignment. What does God have me do in my life? We are finishing that up right now. We are probably gonna be done over the next week or so. It's been a powerful series and I definitely encourage you. Go and listen to that when you join. But we are also going to start a very powerful series, which is called Healing Beyond Medicine. I found this to be incredible important. This is something the Lord has laid on my heart. This is something that got me into all of this ministry work because I experienced a. Miracle for one of my patients by praying for them. And I'll share that on one of the first podcast episodes on this channel. So please check that out. But we are gonna talk about healing. What does the Bible say? How did. Jesus walk on this earth in the Ministry of Healing, understanding that healing is still for today. And what I have found as physicians, that we are very quick to put our training above the Lord and not focus on what does the Bible actually have to say. And in this upcoming training on healing beyond medicine, we're gonna take a careful look at medicine. But of course, we're gonna take a careful look at healing. The healing ministry of Jesus. What happened in the early church? It acts what is still happening out there? I'm hearing more and more testimonies how the Lord is starting to move in healing. There were movements in church history in the past, but I feel like it is coming back. So, and it is should be a daily thing. Actually, the Lord commanded us, right? He said, by these signs, they will follow you. They will recognize that you are fall of Jesus. And one of them was heal the sa cast our demons. So if we don't do these things, then we have a problem. We are actually not following, following what Jesus said and what's in the Bible. And that is, that's sad. That's really sad. So this will be really equipping you very heavily into integrating faith and medicine. And I also want to reassure you, I'm not asking you to check your medical training and your medical brain at the door. That's not what I'm talking about. We're talking about integrating and layering it on top because I believe the Lord has positioned you and me uniquely in this time, in this season, in this epoch of time at wherever you are to be the hands and feet of Jesus, to bring healing beyond medicine because that shall be a sign of his power in the kingdom coming. And you need to know about that. You need to be equipped, you need to be confident and not scared, and that's what we are gonna. Address in this upcoming class series on Hear The Healer. So join the mentorship now because it won't be open until a little while later in the year. And so we can really focus on the new people coming in. Again, it's a small, intimate group. You get to spend a lot of time with me and with your fellow physicians that are eager to serve the Lord. So. I hope I see you in there. If you have questions, just put them in the comments and talk to you soon. Have a wonderful day, and God, God bless you and talk to you next week. My prayer is that you were encouraged, strengthened, and perhaps even convicted with this episode today. If this podcast has blessed you, would you help share it with your friends and colleagues and even share it on social media? Also, leave us a review on the podcast platform where you are listening to this content. It would help us a lot. Together we can share the good news of Jesus and transform medicine one physician. And one patient at the time. Have a great day. God bless.
