Many entrepreneurs watch others living their dream life and feel a burning desire inside to achieve the same. The houses, the businesses, the freedom, the success. It creates excitement and motivation in the moment.

But after that moment passes, many people drift away from the work that actually leads to those dreams.

This lesson came from my own experience. I made the mistake of chasing dreams while ignoring something even more important: my energy, my health, and the habits required to stay consistent.

Dreams are exciting to imagine, but building them requires something deeper. Discipline. Focus. Commitment. And the ability to continue working even when motivation disappears, when the days feel boring, and when the journey feels lonely.

Entrepreneurs who succeed understand that dreams require doing the work. They protect their time, guard their energy, build powerful habits, and learn to say no to distractions that pull them away from their goals.

If you have ambitions for your future, your daily choices must support those ambitions. Your health, mindset, routines, and discipline all play a role in turning a vision into reality.

Stop watching others live their dreams. Start working on yours.

Key takeaways:

  • Dreams are easy to imagine but they only become real through consistent work.
  • Motivation often comes when we watch others succeed, but motivation fades if it is not supported by habits and discipline.
  • Many entrepreneurs lose momentum because they ignore their energy, health, and recovery.
  • Protecting your energy is essential for staying productive and focused in your entrepreneurial life.
  • Success requires doing the work even on boring days, difficult days, and days when you feel unmotivated.
  • Distractions, entertainment, and constant social activity can quietly steal the time needed to build your future.
  • Your habits, routines, and daily choices must align with the dreams you want to achieve.
  • Stop watching others build their dreams and start committing to the work that will build yours.

(0:08) Hey everyone, welcome to the Breakthrough Entrepreneurial Show, where we empower entrepreneurs to build (0:14) good habits, break old habits, rebuild powerful routines, overcome burnout, improve performance, (0:22) and create a healthier and more focused daily and technical life, while making consistent progress in building their business. (0:32) I'm your host, Mohammad Faraj, and today our topic is, dreams require doing the work. (0:41) You see, this is a mistake, this is an experience that taught me a lot, because I have made so many mistakes, (0:50) I have failed so many times, but I learned a lot from my own personal journey. (0:57) You see, one of the failures, one of the mistakes that I made before, and one of the habits that I had in my entrepreneurial life, (1:09) was to not care about my energy, about my health. (1:14) So, I would always watch other people living their dreams, watching their luxuries, watching their mansions, (1:24) and always wonder how those people they get there, how do they make their dreams come true, how do they achieve their goals, (1:33) how do they build their wealth. So, this is a mistake, and this is a very common mistake that so many people, so many entrepreneurs, they make, (1:47) but so many people, unfortunately, they fall into this same trap without knowing, without moving forward, without growing, (1:59) without accomplishing their goals. So, they end up stuck in their business, they end up feeling stuck in their healthy life, (2:09) they end up being stuck in following along with their goals, with their ambitions. (2:15) So, I'm going to talk about this mistake that I made, that I learned a lot from my own personal experience, (2:21) and I'm going to share with you some tips that can help you overcome this mistake, or this bad habit. (2:30) You see, I used to be someone who always used to watch others. (2:38) I would always watch other people, how they work on their businesses, how they accomplish their goals, (2:46) how they build their companies, their businesses, how they follow along with their ambitions, with their goals, how they pursue their dreams. (2:55) I would always look at others and wonder how do they build those mansions, how do they achieve their goals, how do they buy those luxury cars, (3:08) how do they scale their businesses. I always wondered. So, I would watch others and I would always tell myself that, (3:21) oh man, I want to be living the same life, I want that dream life, I want that dream car, I want that dream house, I want to be living just like those people. (3:32) I want to have the same life. I would feel jealous and I would feel so burning inside my heart, and I would always tell myself that I want to have that life, (3:49) I want to build that dream life, I want to make my dreams come true, I want to build that dream business, I want to build that dream company. (4:00) I'm ambitious, I'm very passionate, I want to do that. I don't want to live the same life like I did before. I don't want to have the same job, the same life, the same salary. (4:13) I don't want to have the same routines, the same habits in my life. I feel like my life is not moving forward, my life is not getting better. (4:23) I'm not living my dream life. I'm not living a happy life. I'm not pursuing my dreams. So, I would always look at other people and I would tell myself, (4:36) I wish I could achieve what they achieved. I wish I could build that company that they have built. I wish I could build that wealth that they have built. (4:49) I wish I could accomplish my own goals. I wish I could build that dream product. I wish I could make a difference. I wish I could show others who I am, what I'm capable of doing. (5:02) So, I would always look at other people's dreams and I would tell myself, I want to have the same dreams. I want to live my dream life. (5:12) I don't want to spend my life being stuck, being broke, being miserable, being unhealthy, feeling stagnation, feeling unhappy in my life. (5:25) I would always watch others, how they live their dream life, how they enjoy their families, their mansions, their wealth. (5:34) I would look at other people and feel jealous of their success, of their dreams, of the lifestyle that they are living, how organized they are, how healthy they are, how happy they are. (5:49) And then I would tell myself, I need to stop wishing. I need to stop just daydreaming. I need to stop just hoping for things to change. (6:00) I need to stop just watching others living their dreams and not me. I need to stop that. (6:10) So, I decided that I'm going to work on my dreams. I'm going to work very hard. I'm going to work on my habits, on my routines. (6:20) I'm going to work on myself, on my skills. I'm going to grow. I'm going to expand. I'm going to build. I'm going to create. I'm going to take actions. (6:29) I'm going to build. I'm going to help. I'm going to serve. I'm going to pursue my own dreams. I'm going to set goals and pursue those goals. (6:40) I'm going to work very hard. This is the mistake that so many entrepreneurs make. They say, I'm going to work very hard and live that dream life and accomplish my goals and make my dreams come true. (6:57) You see, I used to say that as well. I used to always do that. Whenever I saw someone living their dreams, I would come home and tell myself, okay, I made the decision. (7:09) I'm going to pursue my own dreams. I'm going to align myself with my own ambitions. I'm going to work very hard. I'm going to do whatever it takes. (7:21) So, later on, you see, after a while, where I made the mistake that I made is that I would just give up those dreams. I would find myself, I'm doing something else. (7:38) I'm very separated from those dreams, from those goals, from those ambitions. I'm very off aligned. I would find myself easily distracted, procrastinating, answering other people's calls and listening to their thoughts. (7:57) I would find myself, I am far away from those dreams, from those ambitions. I would find myself that I'm not doing what I'm supposed to be doing. I'm not committed. I'm not laser focused. I'm not productive. (8:14) So, when we see other people or when we watch other people living their dreams, we get this effect. We get this burning desire. We get this drive. We get this excitement feeling. We get this joyful feeling. (8:32) It's like we're burning inside. We want to have the same. We want to accomplish the same. We want to live the same life. We want to live our dreams. This is the effect that causes when you watch other people's dreams, when you watch other people living their dreams. (8:52) But later on, so many people, they make the same mistake where later on they lose that drive. They lose those feelings. They lose that motivation. They lose their clarity. They become off track. They lose what they were thinking about, how they were feeling at that moment. (9:17) So, so many entrepreneurs, they don't understand that in order to be able to accomplish those goals, to make those dreams come true, you require to do the work. You need to do the work. People must understand that. You need to do the work. (9:40) If you want that dream life, if you want to accomplish those goals, if you want to pursue those ambitions, if you have a vision for your future, yes, you could do that. It's possible. (9:54) But you need to do the work. And when I say you need to do the work or dreams require doing the work, I mean you need to do the work even when you're not feeling very well, even when you feel unmotivated, even if you lose that drive, even if you lose that excitement. (10:14) You need to do the work even when the weather is boring. You need to do the work even when things are not working, even when you're failing. You need to do the work even when you're not getting clients or not being able to build audience or community. (10:30) You need to do the work even when you face rejection, even when you face obstacles, challenges. So it requires doing the work. It's so easy to watch others or to dream about that future dream life. (10:51) It's so easy to know what you want to accomplish, what you want to have, the dream life that you want to build. It's so easy. It's idea in your mind. These are ambitions. These are dreams in your heart. You want to have them. You want to pursue them. You want to accomplish them. You want to make them true. (11:15) But it's super important that we need to understand that those dreams, those ambitions, those goals, they require hard work. They require commitment. They require protecting and maintaining good level of energy. (11:33) You see, as entrepreneurs, if we want to pursue our dreams, our ambitions and build that dream life, we need to learn to protect our energy, our time. We need to build good, powerful habits. Habits that will take us to those dreams. Routines that will lead us to those dreams. (11:57) Energy that requires to make those dreams come true. It's super important to take care of our energy because so many entrepreneurs, they don't care about their health. They ignore their energy. (12:11) What ends up happening is that they have goals, they are pursuing dreams and they are aligned with their ambitions, but they don't care about their energy. They don't care about their thoughts. They don't care about their health. (12:26) So they are constantly putting so much pressure on themselves and then they find themselves feeling drained, depleted, exhausted, tired. They are not able to focus. They are not able to be present with their thoughts, with their emotions. (12:44) They are not able to continue working during their daily entrepreneurial life. They are not able to be laser focused. So it's so easy when you lose energy, when your energy level decreases or drops down, it's so easy to get distracted. (13:03) It's so easy to be procrastinated. It's so easy to go grab your mobile phone and open many different social media platforms and just scroll, just scroll on other people's life, looking at their images, watching their videos. (13:21) It's so easy to accept distractions in your daily entrepreneurial life. It's so easy to answer that phone call. Someone who doesn't have any dreams, any goals and they are distracted. So what they do is they come and they distract you. They call you. They avoid you. They prevent you from making progress. (13:47) So you answer a phone call and you go out and you spend hours and you become off track. You are not aligned with your goals, with your dreams. So many people, they don't take care of their energy. They are constantly exhausted, tired, burned out. (14:05) And these are signs, these are signals that show that showing them that they are taking care of their business, but they are not taking care of their health. They are taking care of their workout, their training, but they are not taking care of their energy. (14:21) So it's super important that we need to understand that if we have dreams, if we have ambitions for our future, it's super important that we build a good, healthy life, that we take care of our health, that we take care of our energy, that we take care of our mindset. (14:41) You see, it's super important as an entrepreneur to learn this. If you have dreams, eat healthy, eat, consume as healthy as possible, not only for your health, but for those dreams. (15:01) If you have dreams, if you have ambitions, take care of your health by moving your body, by doing your exercises, by training, by doing your workout, by building a healthy life, because dreams require healthy life, not only doing the work. (15:22) So for your dreams, take care of your health, eat healthy, move your body, do your relaxation exercises, do your meditation, do not miss your meditation. (15:34) For your dreams, do reflection, do journaling, reflect on your thoughts, on your experiences, reflect on your day, reflect on your work, reflect on your performance, reflect on the days that you spent working on those dreams. (15:58) So, it's so easy to watch other people's dreams, it's so easy to watch others are building, accomplishing, creating, and they're making progress, and they're moving forward, but it's super important that we need to do the work. (16:18) We can't just always daydream and wish and hope for things to be true or to happen, but it's super important that our actions, our daily choices, our habits, our mindset, they are equal with those dreams, with those ambitions. (16:45) So, so many entrepreneurs, they complain about being lonely, or isolated, or not having so much fun, or not having so much entertainment, or they are losing motivation, or they feel like their days is boring. (17:02) You see, it's supposed to be like that, those dreams, they require those days, because those days, you think they are negative, you think those days are bad, are boring, but those days are leading you to those dreams, those days are leading you to those ambitions, to that future. (17:27) Success is boring, success is working hard, success is feeling isolated, success is rejection, success is on motivation, so pursuing success is not always fun, it's not always joyful, you will not be very happy, you will not be super excited, you will not have joyful feelings always. (17:54) Some days you will have tough days, some days you will have bad days, sometimes you will need to deal with failures, with mistakes, so it's supposed to be like that. (18:06) Those boring days, those days that you feel isolated, that you are not hanging out with friends, with people that you love, those days that you say no to entertainment, to events, activities, you say no to them, but you are saying yes to that dream life, to those dreams, to those ambitions. (18:27) I used to constantly get distracted, procrastinate, escape and skip hard work, and I would go out and attend activities, events for entertainment, and then I would find myself, I have lost so many hours during the day, at the end of the day, I would ask myself, what did you do today, what did you complete today, what work did you do today, what project did you finish today. (18:57) Nothing. (19:12) As soon as I go out and attend activities, because I didn't want to be isolated, I didn't want to be lonely, I didn't want to feel bored, I would go out, attend events, activities, meet up with friends, with people, and I would lose so much progress, I would lose so much time, I would lose so much energy. (19:33) At the end of the day, I would feel sad, disappointed, and sometimes I would even blame myself, like why couldn't you be disciplined, why couldn't you control your thoughts, your feelings, why couldn't you say no, why couldn't, why can't you commit, why couldn't you just stay and do the work, I would have been much more happier. (19:58) So, we escape from loneliness, we escape from feeling isolated, we end up chasing pleasure, entertainment, fun things, but we look at our business, our business is stuck, our business is not growing, our entrepreneurship is, is not working. (20:24) Our entrepreneurship feels hopeless, we look at our goals, our dreams, we feel like we are far away, because we haven't done that work, because we haven't used our time, our energy, our effort on those goals, those goals are not getting closer, we are not moving forward, we are not progressing. (20:49) So, embrace those difficult days, embrace loneliness, embrace feeling isolated, embrace having a good level of energy, so you can invest that energy for your future, embrace saying no to other people, to activities, to events, to distractions, embrace that. (21:13) Embrace handling doing the hard work, embrace your health, embrace your mindset, they are all leading you to something big, they are leading you to that happy, bright, successful future. (21:30) And most importantly, stop watching others, stop wishing, stop daydreaming, stop watching other people living their dreams, and start working on your dreams, so you can live your dreams as well. (21:49) Start taking actions, start taking care of your health, start protecting your energy, your time, start being laser focused, start being productive, start taking care of your business, just like you take care of your relationships, just like you take care of your family, just like you take care of your health. (22:14) Take care of your business, pursue your dreams. (22:20) So, that's it, that's what I got for you in this episode, I hope you enjoyed and learned something new from this content that can make a difference in your daily entrepreneurial life, so you can break through in your entrepreneurship journey. (22:36) Thank you so much for watching and listening to this episode, and I wish you a wonderful day, bye everyone.
