Exodus 11

We all have our "one," or the person that God has given us a special assignment to bring to Him. In Exodus, Moses's one was Pharaoh, and he kept coming back again and again. Who is your one? Who is the person that you need to keep coming back to so they can become a follower of Christ?

Hello and welcome to the Christians on College Campuses podcast. My name is Will from the University of Oklahoma, and today we are talking about Exodus chapter 11. Now we are almost to the point where Pharaoh will allow everyone to finally leave. We have seen him give up a little more and more because Moses keeps coming back to show him the power of God. Because Moses kept going to Pharaoh. Pharaoh was Moses' quote unquote one. We'll talk about this more later. It says in the chapter that then the Lord said to Moses, I will strike Pharaoh in the land of Egypt with one more blow. After that, Pharaoh will let you leave this country. In fact, he will be so eager to get rid of you that he will force you all to leave. Tell all the Israelite men and women to ask the Egyptian neighbors for articles of silver and gold. Now the Lord had caused the Egyptians to look favorably on the people of Israel, and Moses was considered a very great man in the land of Egypt, respected by Pharaoh's officials and the Egyptian people alike. Moses had announced to Pharaoh, this is what the Lord says, At midnight tonight I will pass through the heart of Egypt. All the firstborn sons will die in every family of Egypt, from the oldest son of Pharaoh who sits on the throne, to the oldest son of the lowliest servant girl who grinds the flower. Even the firstborn of all the livestock will die. Then a loud wail will rise throughout the land of Egypt, a wail like no one has heard before or will ever hear again. But among the Israelites it will be so peaceful that not even a dog will bark. Then you will know that the Lord makes a distinction between the Egyptians and the Israelites. All the officials of Egypt will run to me and fall to the ground before me. Please leave, they hopag, hurry, and take all your followers with you. Only then will I go. Then, burning with anger, Moses left Pharaoh. Now the Lord has told Moses earlier, Pharaoh will not listen to you, but then I will do even more mighty miracles in the land of Egypt. Moses and Aaron performed these miracles in Pharaoh's presence, but the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he wouldn't let the Israelites leave the country. Finally at the point where Pharaoh will allow the Israelites to leave the country, but God is going to do one more thing, just to really be like, hey, I am God. Don't mess with me. But what's important here is throughout all this time, Moses kept coming back to Pharaoh. Pharaoh was Moses' one. You might have a one. Someone who you are inviting to church, showing the love of God, and just it might not be working out. You might keep inviting this person to church and showing them the love of God, but they might just keep denying it. They might be saying, No, I'm not gonna go to church, or stop coming to me with all this God stuff. But we can't give up on them. Moses never gave up on Pharaoh. Moses kept showing up again and again and again. Just like we need to keep inviting people to church, showing people the love of God, going to our one in a loving way to make sure that they become a follower of Christ. So Jesus, coming right now, and I pray for everyone's ones that you make them receptive to your love, so that as we keep inviting them and keep inviting them, eventually they will be open to coming to church, seeing and feeling your love and becoming a follower of you. I pray for the people that are going to their ones and inviting them constantly that they do not give up. They keep going back again and again and again and again. Because we are called to reach the lost. And in Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
