Welcome to the Gush Ghoul Club!! We're two unhinged horror besties who love watching horror movies together. We're always in search of new ghoul friends to talk horror movies with, hence the Gush Ghoul Club was born! Each month we will dive into a different genre of horror as we explore four different films that will leave you scared stiff, grossed out or wildly amused! The good, the bad, the so bad it's good and the so bad, we're yelling at the tv and trying to recover once it's over. Spoilers are a part of our podcast experience, so if you're not interested in "unmasking the monsters" so to speak, please take caution and be mindful. Hereditary Part 1 (Deep Dive)
Hello Gushies and welcome back!! The pain train is approaching its final stop and wow, it's a long one! This month to close out our Grief/Trauma films we're doing a special two-part episode! YES! This movie had such an effect on us we had to cover it in two episodes! This is Ari Aster's 2018 debut film: HEREDITARY.
From the start of this podcast, we always knew that this had to be covered over multiple episodes just due to the amount of GUSHING that would be going on so, we decided to make it a bit of a deep dive as well. We pulled from Aster interviews, the script, articles and the film itself to put together this ridiculously long two-part saga. Yes! we're calling it a saga! Ally's life has been Hereditary for a few weeks now and she knows what she's talking about. So, if you need anything from the trolly, I'd stock up now before the pain train reaches its final destination! Now come join us in the gush compartment and mind your heads as we, Ally Mayhem and Sweet Ass Patterson, take you on one more trip aboard the Trauma and Grief Express!
We would like to mention triggering topics for this week's episode as we continue grief/trauma month. Horror in general has a lot of disturbing imagery, violence and so on, it comes with the territory but this month being a heavier month, it hits differently. This movie directly deals with death of a child, car accident, anaphylactic shock, cruelty of animals, blood/gore, graphic deaths, suicide discussion, verbal abuse and self-harm. Proceed accordingly.
