Speaker 1:And then today I want to talk to you about the power of coaching in your life. Ladies and gentlemen, we have lost that in the body of Christ. Even in the world today, everybody wants to reinvent the wheel, wants to do their own thing. Everybody wants to bypass the process to get to progress. I'm going to say that again you cannot bypass the process to get to progress and it's important that you are rooted in some things. See so many people. They want to see the benefits and the blessing. That's why you can't get caught up in the get rich quick schemes, the get slim quick schemes, people oh man, you can lose 55 pounds in 25 days and all these types of things.
Speaker 1:Ladies and gentlemen, there's something to be gained in the process. Something happens in your life when you allow God to take you through a process. It's no different than if you're one of those people where you know you ever seen the hungry man dinner for Thanksgiving. You know Thanksgiving is going to be here before you know it. By the way, I mean, we're already coming into August. Today's the last day of July and get one of them hungry man dinners. They got the turkey with the gravy and the mashed potatoes and they got the little brownie and you throw that in the microwave. You know, you've got the corn and everything and you've got your Thanksgiving dinner. You can have that in three to five minutes.
Speaker 1:But there's something about the process of taking the time to baste that turkey or, in my situation, I like to deep fry them. Can I get an amen, somebody To be able to deep fry them turkeys and to get them ready and the tender, loving care to peel those potatoes and knock the stuff out of the box and take the time to make. No, not craft, but you got to break down that macaroni and cheese and get the five different cheeses and the milk and the evaporated skim milk and all the types of things that you got to get in order to make it all what it needs to be. There's something about the process. You can't bypass the process to get to progress. Something happens when you get roots in your life, and that's where coaching comes in, because coaching helps you along the way, because many times, ladies and gentlemen, in our life, we don't understand why we're in what we're in and we need somebody else to come along the way and to help us in those blind spots that we're having. That's why the Bible says here I want you to look at this in Matthew, chapter 28, in verse number 19 and 20.
Speaker 1:Now, this is one of Jesus' last Matter of fact. Let's jump up to verse number 18, actually, I didn't plan on going here, but let me jump to verse number 18. This is one of Jesus' last statements that he gives to his disciples and how important it is. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, so that lets me know, first of all, that disciples do not make themselves. Now can I help you real quickly? If you have not been discipled, if you are not being discipled before Jesus, y'all ready for this? Here we go.
Speaker 1:Before Jesus ever gave them an Acts chapter to experience, they served him, they walked with him and they learned from him for three and a half years, as a matter of fact, in order to be able to be qualified as an apostle, when Judas had hung himself. When you read in Acts chapter number one, judas had hung himself and there was one short, and during those 10 days, there was a delay and they began to seek the Lord concerning the power of the Holy Ghost that was coming. He said wait until the promise of the Father comes. And in the middle of their seeking God, they understood there was a seat missing because Judas had hung himself. And so when they began to go through the selection process of who should be in that position, this is what they said.
Speaker 1:Now I want you to catch this. It had to be somebody that was with Jesus from the time he was baptized and witnessed it all the way to his ascension, and there was a man named Matthias. Now let me tell you something real quickly about Matthias. He's not preached on enough in the body of Christ because there are too many people that are not faithful in the process. There are too many people that didn't realize Matthias had no clue that he was going to be sitting in a seat that Judas kept warm for three years, three and a half years. He kept it warm for him until he was there. Sometimes you don't realize. I hope somebody catches this right now. You don't realize what God may have in store for you. He's just been proving your faithfulness. That's why sometimes you can't leave. Nobody knew Matthias. He's not mentioned in any of the scriptures, except in Acts, chapter one. And now his name is inscribed upon those 12 apostles, those chairs that are held for them in heaven. Matthias, his name will be on there.
Speaker 1:Why he got selected? Because he was faithful in the process. Who am I talking to right now? Type that in the chat right now and just say I got to be faithful in the process. I'll type that in the chat right now and just say I got to be faithful in the process. You got to be faithful in the process because in the process where God teaches you the promises and the principles and it's amazing that before they could be qualified for an upper room experience, which means they were endowed with authority they spent three and a half years serving, walking and learning the words of the Lord from Jesus himself and therefore now listen.
Speaker 1:The problem with a lot of people today and the reason why you need coaching in your life and a lot of times, the reason why people don't get promoted, they don't get elevated, they don't get blessed, they don't get promoted, is because they lack the principles for the position. My good God, type that in there. Type that in there they lack. You have to have principles for power, principles for position, and Jesus said before I give you a position of authority and power, I need to put you in a process. For three and a half years, he taught them the principles and the purposes of the kingdom. So when they got the seat and they were endued with power, they did not have power. Watch this and zeal without knowledge. This is why coaching is so important, and many of you right now you might be stalling in your spiritual walk because you're trying to do it on your own. Now, I didn't get that far, but look here in Matthew 28, verse 19,.
Speaker 1:Go, therefore, and make disciples, which means they don't make themselves. They don't make themselves. Somebody's got to be pouring into you, and there are areas in your marriage, there are areas in your life, there are areas in your finances, there's areas in your administration ability. There's areas in your life that you need to grow and develop in, because God is preparing you for something more, and you can't do it by yourself.
Speaker 1:Listen, how many of y'all would go to a doctor that said, hey, I'm here and I'm just going to work this thing out on my own. I'm going to do open heart surgery right now, but I ain't been to school. I'm going to learn. I'm going to read this book and I'm going to put you out and we're going to learn this thing as we go. How many of y'all be okay with that? But we do this. That's what we do in the body of Christ. We will take people or we will take ourselves, and we just going to go and just run with it, we just going to fake it till we make it.
Speaker 1:And the problem is we never make it because you don't make disciples by yourself. That's why Jesus said go and make disciples, peter. It's the only time you see Jesus ask three questions, ask one question three separate times. He said Peter, do you love me, peter? Do you love me, peter? Do you love me? What do you say? Feed my sheep. Feed my sheep, then feed my lambs. And what he was saying to Peter is this is the most important thing you are going to do is to feed the people of God. Now, listen, feeding the people of God. Now let me help somebody.
Speaker 1:Feeding, being fed is not on Sunday morning. That's part of it. That's part of it. That's part of the meal. If I could actually even break it down, I would say Sunday morning is the appetizer, sunday morning is where you find out what's on the menu. What you need is somebody. That's when you're there in church.
Speaker 1:Let me say this as well when you are in church, you should always take notes. Whenever you're sitting under a man or woman of God, you need to take notes, write down notes. Why? Because the spirit of the Lord is speaking through their message to you, and so you write those things down and that's where you begin to execute a plan for what God has revealed to you on a Sunday morning or on a Wednesday night, or when you're at a conference. And now you come home and your job now is to digest what God has given to you. The problem with most people we think, just because we swallowed the meal, that we've digested the meal. Now you have to digest the meal and administer it throughout your life, throughout your body, as the Lord sees fit. This is where coaching comes in, because many times now, watch. This is very powerful. Once you get a word from God, something shifts in your life.
Speaker 1:Now hold your finger there in Matthew 28 and go with me over to Mark, chapter number four. I hope you're getting something out of this. Take a minute while we're going there, like subscribe, follow, share, let somebody know you're on Dimensions. Every day I'm going to be trying to come to you guys right around the same time. I'm going to iron down a time sooner or later, but right now it's going to be sometime throughout the day. Every day, I'm going to be bringing you the word of the Lord. Some things are going to be prophetic, some things are going to be teaching, but you're not going to want to miss these.
Speaker 1:This is 30 minutes to get your oil tank filled, to get revelation, to get wisdom, to get insight, to hear what the spirit of the Lord is saying, to catch the prophetic forecast of what God is saying. Now look here, mark, chapter number four, real quickly, this is the parable of the sowers. But I want you to see something here, because this is really, really important. And he breaks down the parable of the sower here, verse number 13,. All right, it says. And he said to them do not understand this parable. How then would you understand all parables?
Speaker 1:The sower sows the word, and these are the ones by the wayside, where the word is sown, and immediately Satan comes and takes away the word that's sown in the heart. So notice this here when you get revelation, when you get a prophetic word, the devil is going to do is he's going to send himself, he's going to send an attack. Look at what it says. And he takes away the word that was sown. These, likewise, are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with gladness and they have no root in themselves and so endure for a time and after when tribulation or persecution arises. For the word's sake. Now, we missed that right there. Tribulation and persecution arise when we get a word. Why the word is meant to put you into a process.
Speaker 1:So when I get education, when I get teaching, now, I have to go through a process to determine has that word taken root in my life? This is where coaching comes in. This is where having somebody to walk you through a process, somebody that you look up to, someone that you believe God has put into your life, that says I'm gonna sit at their feet, I'm gonna learn from them, I'm gonna open up my life to them, I'm gonna spend time with them on a weekly basis, even if it's only one hour, let them pour into my life. My life never changed until I got coached it's another word disciple. I never changed Now. There were areas of my ministry that never developed until I got a coach.
Speaker 1:Come on, somebody I'm preaching better than some of y'all are shouting right now. You gotta have a coach in your life and remember this. You ready I want you to type this in your mentor will always first be your tour mentor. I want you to catch that. Your mentor is not there to be your friend. Your coach is not there to be your friend. They are there to be your tour mentor.
Speaker 1:Now watch this how do I select a coach? How do I get somebody? Do they see greatness within you? But the first, most important thing what do you see in them that you want? You want to be coached by somebody that has something and is further than where you are. You don't want your peer to be your coach because they're on your same level. You want someone that's on another level. I like that name To be able to reach inside of you and pull out of you what God has placed within you. So you want to be able to see inside of them. But you want them to see that you have something inside of you and you want them to go fishing to pull that out.
Speaker 1:So the purpose of making disciples is. God has placed gifts and abilities and things inside of you and God does not want your gifting to take you someplace. Your character can't keep you. That's why we're seeing so many ministers and preachers and people fall today. Jesus took 30 years Somebody say 30 years, 30 years of training for a three and a half year ministry. Now we take three and a half years of training for a 30 year ministry and we wonder why we don't have the root, we don't have the depth. We wonder why we see so many pastors burn out. We wonder why we see so many pastors in moral failure. We wonder why we see so many people that can't survive the long haul and have no endurance is because they lacked a coach. They did not get any roots. Look here again. It says these are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word, they receive it, but they have no root. Now watch this. This is why coaching is so important, because a coach will look at your life and show you things of where you can make adjustments and development. They're not there to be your friend, they're there to encourage you at times, but sometimes they're there to bring the shears. Now go with me real quickly. I want you to catch that there in Mark 4.
Speaker 1:No-transcript trials. We go into tribulations because of the word, but we don't know how, we don't have the wisdom of the word to appropriate it and so, as a result, we don't know how to work it. In that situation, many times now are you ready for this? We will bypass the process, we will forfeit it, we will rebuke it, we will call it the devil because it's creating change within us. A coach knows how to discern when there's a change needs to be made, or even if there is a compromise that needs to be made. Sometimes you may. When I say a compromise, maybe, okay, you give a little, you take a little. Sometimes it's just God's working in you to change you and sometimes, if you don't have the wisdom and understanding of that, you give a little, you take a little. Sometimes it's just God's working in you to change you and sometimes, if you don't have the wisdom and the understanding of that, you will look at that and think it's abuse. How in the world could somebody ask me to do that? This can't be God.
Speaker 1:There were things in my marriage, when I first got married, that I knew for sure that my wife was wrong. Man, I would have went to my grave swearing that she was wrong. I would have said ain't no way that she ain't wrong and I'm right in this situation. But thank God for coaching. I had another man of God that sat me down said hey, jay, this is incorrect. You need to look at this this way.
Speaker 1:And coaching are you ready? Helps to shift your perspective in the persecution and in the tribulation and in the trial. Okay, coaches help shift your perspective. They help you to see the word as you should see it and how it appropriates itself in your life to develop you and to grow you and to make you who you need to be. And therefore, you don't get off of the cross too soon. You don't get out of the process too soon. You don't leave the church too soon. You don't leave the marriage too soon. You don't leave the gym too soon.
Speaker 1:If you're in a gym and you got a coach, you stay in position because you have to trust the process. My good God Almighty, I feel the Holy Ghost on this today. Trust the process, but many people aren't even in one. They're in it but they don't identify it and they don't know how to cooperate with what God is doing, because at the end of every process there will always be a promotion. Come on somebody. My good God Almighty, now watch this.
Speaker 1:Why is it important to understand the process? Why? What is the power of coaching? The power of coaching develops you and grows you and matures you and puts the word in you and puts wisdom in you and helps you to see what. Listen, whenever you get a word from God, he will put you in a storm. He will put you in a trial. He'll put you in a test to see if you know how to skillfully appropriate the scriptures in your life, hallelujah and if you don't know what to do, you'll have the promise, bypass the process. Are you ready? And then you'll never see the fulfillment of that promise in your life.
Speaker 1:Now let's go to John, chapter 15. Real quickly, john, chapter 15. Y'all getting some stuff out of this. Come on somebody, go on and share this with somebody, because, listen, somebody's getting ready to go to the next level, somebody. You've been asking God what is it going to take for me to shift? And God says you need a coach in your life. We've lost it in the church. And listen, coaching is not a one-time event at your church. You went and took a class. You're not coached. Coaching is a lifelong journey. You never stop getting coached. Somebody's always further down the line than you.
Speaker 1:And why reinvent the wheel If we would just humble ourselves and learn the power and the blessing of impartation? Oh, to be able to sit at somebody's feet and to glean from their wisdom and allow the Holy Spirit. Do you understand the power of coaching, is it? It invites Jesus himself into your situation. Wow, how do I know that? If any two of you said come together, he said where two or more of you are gathered together in my name, there, I will be in the midst. Jesus left the 99 to go after the one, and his power is so attracted to unity that when two people come together and it takes you and another person to be coached and you should be coaching somebody else as well Jesus said I'll be there in the midst. So it invites the power of Christ, the wisdom of Christ, the manifold wisdom of Christ, into your life. When you start becoming coachable in your own, so many people never grow.
Speaker 1:Because if God would have allowed discipleship to happen on its own doesn't mean you can't study, doesn't mean you don't get to know God, but the coaching and the discipleship. The discipleship is a disciplined one. So if you don't have that in your life, you can't develop, you will plateau in areas of your life and you won't go to the next level. You need a coach. Come on, somebody. Now look at this here. What does a coach do for you? You ready Verse number one of John, chapter 15.
Speaker 1:I am the true vine. My father is the vine dresser. Now look at this here. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit, he takes away. But every branch that bears fruit, he prunes that it may bear more fruit. Now watch this If you're whether you're producing or you're not producing, everybody has an appointment with the shears. Yes, everybody's going to be cut. It doesn't matter who you are, you're going to be cut if you're producing. So why is that?
Speaker 1:Now let me show you the power of coaching. Coaching or discipleship, causes you to produce greater fruit, hallelujah. Every branch of me that doesn't bear fruit, he takes away. Why? I don't want to be around people that are watch this. Sap suckers, sap stealers See through. The vine flows into the branch what is needed for it to begin to produce, and so what happens to a lot of people is that they suck the sap, they suck the nutrients, but then they don't want to produce, which means this Now, watch this. I'll talk about this maybe later on.
Speaker 1:There are people that get a word from God, know what to do, and their lack of obedience and applying that word stops the production of the fruit. The vine has done its job, the branch has been fed, but they're not obedient to produce. So God says I'm not gonna allow you to steal the precious nutrients, the anointing my presence, and not be productive, because if you're getting that in your life, that means there's an area of obedience that must happen. There must be a cooperation with the word of God. And so he says I'm going to cut them away, but watch this. This is what's amazing.
Speaker 1:A lot of people miss this here. If you begin to produce, god will prune you. He will cut you back, and the purpose of pruning is it cuts you back. So then you grow downward instead of outward. You get deeper root and you have to understand root has the ability to produce fruit. Oh Jesus, my good God almighty, now watch this. Why is that important? This is what this is what a coach does. They come in and say, wow, you're doing really good, but let me cut you back a little bit. Hey, you need to be on time. Hey, are you ready?
Speaker 1:I've had people that I've decided so sometimes. Maybe maybe they have some body hygiene that they need to work on, maybe they need to get a haircut, maybe they need to brush their teeth, maybe they need to iron their clothes Sometimes. Sometimes I had a person one time years and years ago in my ministry. This woman had such a heart for God, she's run hard to God, but I mean she had odors and so she no one ever talked about it and I went and I ministered to her and her whole life shifted. I mean, her whole life just went to a whole different dimension. Because of that. I didn't embarrass her, I just poured into her.
Speaker 1:Sometimes it's the way we deal with people. Maybe you're a manager and there's a ways that you need to deal with your staff. That's not good, and so God will allow people to bring correction in your life so then you can have a better rapport with your staff. I mean, the list could go on. Maybe you need to be a better listener, whatever it might be, but you're doing good, but then God wants to do even greater.
Speaker 1:So listen, if you stop growing, listen, you stop producing. So you should always be looking how do I get better, how do I develop? And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the purpose of a coach. That's what a coach does for you. It helps you to grow, it helps you to develop and, no matter whether you're producing or not, you will meet the shears. And that's what a coach will do for you. Why? Because then now you're ready for this.
Speaker 1:Now watch this.
Speaker 1:Why is root so important? Now watch this. Why is root so important? Root has the ability to go into the dark, damp places. Watch this and take all of the dirt and take it and turn it into what will bring forth fruit. Root determines fruit.
Speaker 1:Now, root is symbolic of our character. Our character has to have the ability to be put into. If you think about it, what do they do? They even put you in manure sometimes, which means you can walk through. You know they had a bumper sticker back in the day that says stuff happens. Except it wasn't stuff. And sometimes, when you get into the stuff and stuff hits your life, if you follow what I'm saying and you have stuff, stuff is stinky. When you got the stinky stuff that you're in character is what root is. It takes the manure, it takes those things and takes the nutrients out of it, brings it forth, pushes it through the vine into the branch, so then production can happen. Your ability you ready for this to take and for God to be able to put you in the stinky stuff and be able to cause you to be productive is based upon the character that he's worked within you. So sometimes when he cuts you back, he's expanding your character. So then you can take what it is that you've been in Maybe it's not fair, maybe it's this, maybe it's them and he says I'm going to grow your root and, as a result, there will be greater fruit. Come on somebody. Hallelujah. And that's the reason why coaching is so important for us as believers.
Speaker 1:The power of coaching will change your life. I am firmly convinced that many people nowadays are not attracted to coaching anymore. We need it, especially in this day and hour. God gave me three things. He said tell people that you need to do three things. Number one keep loving your I'm sorry, keep oil in your lamp. Loving your heart and sending leaven out of your life. Technically four, but three statements here. Keep oil in your lamp, loving your heart, sending leaven out of your life.
Speaker 1:Ladies and gentlemen, if you don't have a coach, you don't learn how to be an oil producer in the kingdom. There are things that you will do instinctively and there's some things that you've got to learn along the way. Even the greatest players on the planet, in any sport, in any type of thing, they all need a coach, and they are the ones that help bring together the whole game plan. I want to encourage you today to really consider finding a coach. If you don't have one, if you don't have a ministry that you're attached to that helps you to become the best version of yourself possible, you need to have that. If you are in a ministry, you need to go to that pastor, go to those leaders and say, hey, I want to become my best self, I want to become all that God's called me to be. You won't get there. I'm going to say it again you will not get there without the right coach. You will not get there until you get under somebody and let somebody point to you.
Speaker 1:Many of you are cyclical. You'll go good for a little bit and then you'll fall off. You go good for a little bit and then you'll fall off. It's because the scriptures have not been applied in your life. Go and make disciples. Jesus had the disciples walking with him for three and a half years. They served him, they walked with him and they learned from him for three and a half years and then he gave them power.
Speaker 1:Listen, somebody listening right now, spirit of the Lord, is saying to you that if you would get under coaching, there is a seat reserved for you. There is a place in that upper room that's reserved for you. There is a new anointing that is going to come upon you. That has been scheduled, and God says I'm going to send somebody into your life, into the season, in order to grow you and to develop you, to make you the man or woman of God that he's called you to be, to prepare you for the promotion that is coming. You have a short amount of time. You have a short season because God says I'm getting you prepared for the chair that's available. There's somebody that's occupying it now that God is going to move out of position that you're getting ready to come into.
Speaker 1:And God's saying if you do not prepare yourself, if you do not allow coaching to happen. You will take a position and then you can forfeit what it is that I have for you, because your character will take you I'm sorry, your gifting will take you someplace. Your character won't be able to keep you and you will not be prepared for the destiny. Remember your appointment with your destiny has already been set since the beginning of time. Will you be ready when it comes? The appointment has been set.
Speaker 1:The question is will you waste the time that you have? Will you despise small beginnings? Allow the Holy Spirit to grow you and to develop you, to make you the best version of yourself that God's called you to be, and get under a coach Everybody. I have four men in my life right now that are continually pouring into my life because I believe in the power of coaching. So I want to encourage you with that today and, before I go, I want to pray for you that God would just begin to anoint you and bless you, and I just want you to lift up your hands right where you are.
Speaker 1:Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray for every person watching. Lord, I thank you for the anointing of the Holy Ghost upon their lives. I thank you for the gifting, the callings, the destinies that you have for them. I thank you. That eye has not seen nor ear heard, neither has it entered into the heart of men the things that you have prepared for them. But, father, god, you're preparing them for what you have prepared for them. And so, lord God, I pray that, lord, you would anoint them, that you would fill them, that they would not bypass the process to get to progress, they would not despise small beginnings but, lord, they would stay under tutors and teachers until they become all that you've called them to be. May these words be sealed in their hearts and in their minds and, father, I thank you for what you're doing in them, and that the best is yet to come. In Jesus' name, we pray Amen, amen, amen.

Speaker 1:The people that have discipleship and coaching in their life in this season are the ones that are going to have greater oil, that are going to have greater impact. They're going to go further than everyone else because they are listen, we all. Sir Walter Raleigh simply said this. He said we see further because we stand on the shoulders of giants. It's important that we understand that reality. Stand on somebody else and then, therefore, you will grow and develop and become all that God has called you to be. Well, I'm Pastor J Anthony Gilbert.
