The Holy Spirit: Your Guide to the Abundant Life
Dimensions - Friday, August 08 - 2025
Well, good day everybody. I am so excited because today, on Dimensions, I'm going to be talking to you about the Holy Spirit, your guide to the abundant life. You're not going to want to miss this. This whole week, we've been talking about the importance of being thankful for what it is that we have. You know, the person of the Holy Spirit is so important to us. And listen, what if I told you today that your key, your ticket to the abundant life is your relationship with the Holy Spirit, and as he leads you, guides you and directs you, you will walk in a land filled with promises. All that and more coming up.
Speaker 1:Next, right here on Dimensions, I'm J Anthony Gilbert and I am so excited that you have taken time out of your schedule to come and hang out with me here, in the presence of God, to shift your life from one level of glory to the next level of glory. Listen, I need you to do me a favor right now, before we go any further. I need you to like, subscribe, follow, share whether you're on YouTube, facebook, wherever you are, go ahead and get in on this and share these episodes with others. I'm coming to you at least five days a week, monday through Friday, whenever possible about 30 minutes or more each and every day in order to give you a word from God in the prophetic. Now what is God saying today? Give us this day our daily bread, and that's exactly what we're doing. So I need you to get this out so everybody else can get in on these manna cakes. They're falling from heaven each and every day and listen. If you have not subscribed to our podcast and you are not a member of our podcast family, I need you to go to wherever your podcast platform is and subscribe to the Dimensions podcast. You can listen to it while you're working out. You can listen to it in your car. You can listen to it before church, wherever you are preparing a sermon. You can begin to get this in your spirit and let this anointing begin to take you where it is that God's called you to be. So take a minute and go and get on that platform and subscribe, and then, every time we finish an episode, we're going to upload it and you're going to be able to be a part of the Dimensions family. And guess what's going to happen? You're never going to miss out on anything that the Spirit of the Lord is saying. So I am really excited today.
Speaker 1:You know, yesterday throughout the week actually I was talking about the importance of being thankful and how important it is for us, as believers, to be thankful in every area of our lives. This is a season that I believe that when the praises go up, the blessings are going to come down, that your spirit of thanksgiving, what comes out of your mouth, can open the windows of heaven and God can pour out blessing, or can close the windows of heaven and, as a result, it can shut down your blessing. See, rain doesn't mean much to those that don't have seed in the ground, but when you've got seed in the ground, you are waiting for the rain. Rain is a nuisance if you're on vacation. Rain is a nuisance if you've got a picnic, but if you've got seed in the ground, you're going to need yourself some rain. And this is the season that God is saying be thankful out the blessing of his latter rain upon your life, which causes those areas that you have sowed to begin to sprout up and to begin to grow. So we've been talking about that, but in the meantime, I was talking about the Holy Spirit, yesterday and today, talking about the person, the presence, the power and the passion of the Holy Spirit in our lives, and today I want to talk about the Holy Spirit as our guide to the abundant life. So listen, I want you to go with me, if you would, to John, chapter 14. I wanna read to you a couple of passages of scripture here, because I believe these are gonna really be a blessing to you. It's very, very important. Look at this here.
Speaker 1:Now you have to remember John chapter 14, 15, and 16 are all scriptures where Jesus begins to give his, if you will, his, benediction before he goes to the cross. He's given him the last words. He's getting ready to tell them of the things to come. You know, that's what I love about the Lord he talks to you about the things that are coming. He knew he was getting ready to transition. He knew he was getting ready to die on the cross. He knew something was coming. He knew there was a change coming. He knew that this current era they were in it was about to be a previous era and about to step into something new.
Speaker 1:And so he begins to talk to them about the person of the Holy Spirit and how he's going to come along. He said listen, I'm about to leave. Y'all are going to be sorrowful, but, listen, your soul is about to be turned into joy. So he's letting them know everything that's coming, do you realize? That's why it's so important to be connected to the Holy Spirit. He lets you know what is coming, he lets you know and he always gives good cheer. He always brings encouragement, he always brings help and hope and faith and an outlook. He lets you know what the father is up to. So then, therefore, listen, god will never let you see something that's coming and not prepare you for it, hallelujah. God will never let you see something that is coming and not prepare you for it and give you what you need, so then you can overcome and be victorious in it. This is what the whole purpose of dimensions is as well, is God is speaking to us in the prophetic now, letting us know what the spirit of the Lord is saying today. Give us this day our daily bread, and therefore he gives us what he already knows. Listen, he's already been where you're going. He's already been at 12 o'clock today, two o'clock today. He's already been there and he's already worked everything out for your favor and it's working for your good. This is why the Holy Spirit is so paramount in our lives is because he knows the mind of the father and he lets us know the mind of the father.
Speaker 1:Come on, somebody, matter of fact, let's go John 14, 15, 16. It's very important, but I want to go here to first Corinthians, chapter number two. I want to go here real quickly. I want to mention this to you. It's one of my scriptures I've just been delving into lately that God has really been speaking to me about. If I had time, I talked to you more about I ministered in our church about the importance of predestination and what that means.
Speaker 1:You know, people get caught up in predestined and election and you know, did God choose us, did we choose him? And all these types of things. And you know, I realize that's a valuable debate and I have my stances concerning it. But the reality is one of the things I've realized about predestination is this Remember this election, when God elected people, he elected them. That deals with the person.
Speaker 1:Predestination deals with the destiny. It deals with where they're going, what's going to happen to those people Because they're elected. This is what's going to transpire and one of the things that the Bible clearly says that if we have been predestined, we've been justified and we've been glorified. And that's why it says in Romans, chapter eight what shall we say to all these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Why, if all things are working together for our good, if God's already been into our future, if he's already called everything to work together for us? He said neither height nor depth, nor angels nor principalities, no powers, nor things present, nor things to come shall be able to separate from the love of God. Pretty much what he's saying about the predestination is that God's already been to where you're going. He's already worked it out, he already knows what you're going to walk into. There's never been a trouble that you have faced that took him by surprise. He's already given you the answer, and this is the reason why I'm sharing is. This is why the Holy Spirit is our guide to the abundant life, is because, even though you may be facing trouble, you may be facing hardships. God knew it from the foundations of the world and he's already made provision for you. And listen to me, the provision is waiting for you to catch up to it. So you need to begin to rejoice, because if God's word is true which we know that it is. That means he's already worked it in your favor.
Speaker 1:There's a song I've been listening to lately by Vashon Mitchell, turning Around For Me and he says sooner or later it's going to work in my favor. He's turning it around for me Now. Look at this here 1 Corinthians 2, verse number six. How be it? We speak wisdom among those who are mature? Oh, that's very important. Yet not the wisdom of this age, nor the rules of this age, who are coming to nothing, but we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory. That means now you have to take this whole thing in context. He's talking to us about hidden wisdom. He's talking about all right, we speak this amongst those who are mature. He's saying it's a hidden wisdom in the form of a mystery that God ordained before the ages, before time began, for our glory. Look at this which none of the rulers of this age, speaking of the principalities, the powers, the demonic principalities, all those things which none of them knew For, had they known, now watch, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. Now listen to this.
Speaker 1:The devil's thinking in that moment that he's got Jesus right where he wants him. He's got him up on the cross. It's over, it's done. He had no idea that the mind of the Father, the will of the Father, was that Jesus would die and at that death it would actually bring Satan underneath everyone's feet, and everybody that put their faith in Jesus Christ would now have authority over Satan. He had no idea that, the mind of the Father. What am I saying to you? If you only knew why you're in what you're in, you'd look at it differently. As a matter of fact, it says in Hebrews, chapter 12, let me go there. Let me go there real quickly.
Speaker 1:We'll come back to 1 Corinthians, 2. Hebrews, chapter number 12. I want you to see this here. Look at this. It says therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, verse number one let us lay aside every weight in the sin, which so easily ensnares us, and let us run endurance, the race that is set before us. Look at this, looking unto Jesus. He's already finished his race. He's already done, he's accomplished it. It is finished, the author and the finisher of our faith. So that means he wrote it and he'll make sure that you finish it of our faith. So that means he wrote it and he'll make sure that you finish it.
Speaker 1:Who, for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross, despised the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God Hallelujah. Now look at this here. Why is that important? Where did Jesus get, said who for the joy that was set before him? He looked beyond the cross. He endured the cross. He looked beyond it, despised the shame. He understood there was something on the other side of this. When did he get that? Do you remember?
Speaker 1:In the garden of Gethsemane, when Jesus goes in, he's talking to his disciples. He said listen, my soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even into the point of death. And he went into prayer and the Bible says he prayed once and he came back out, found his disciples sleeping, said can't you tarry with me? Gone the second time, can't you tarry with me? Come back the third time. He was, he pressed in. He said he was sweating great drops of blood because his soul was in anguish. He pressed, he pressed, he pressed.
Speaker 1:When he broke through on that third time in prayer, ladies and gentlemen, he saw beyond the cross. He saw the purpose of the cross, he saw the glory of God. He saw the resurrection power. He saw your family being saved. He saw the devil being under his feet. He was already under his feet, but under your feet he saw everything. He took total dominion. He understood he was winning it all back and that's why it says here who, for the joy that was set before him, he was willing to endure it because he understood there will be glory after this.
Speaker 1:The Holy Spirit in you gives you the ability to see beyond where you are. Come on somebody to where you are going, that, even though what you might be in may seem unpleasant, god has a plan for you. Now go back to 1 Corinthians 2. All right, now let's jump down here. It says in verse 8, which none of the rulers of this age knew, for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. Now look at verse nine. This is important as it is written.
Speaker 1:Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man. The things that God has not this is what's been striking to me has prepared for those that love him. Now think about it for a minute. He's already prepared. I think we have to really wrap our minds around this. There's something that God has prepared for you.
Speaker 1:Have you ever thought the reason why you're in what you're in is the devil's trying to detour you from what has been prepared for you? That if you stay on this path, he's got to put something in front of you to try to roadblock you, to get you to take a detour, to deviate from the plan of God for your life? Do you understand that? That's why you're being attacked. That's why you're under attack right now. That's why the devil is discouraging you. That's why you're being hit on the left and on the right, in every area.
Speaker 1:But he doesn't understand something. The natural eye may not have seen, the natural ear may not have heard, it may not have entered into the natural heart of man the things that God has prepared. But you got to remember something Whenever the devil brings something into your life, you got to throw your big butt at him. Let me show you this, verse 10,. But God, come on somebody, you got to have a big butt. God, look at what that has revealed. But God has revealed them unto us through his spirit. But God. But God, eye hasn't seen, ear hasn't, and neither has the end of the heart of man the things that God has prepared for those that love him. But God has revealed them unto us through his spirit, for the spirit searches all things. Yes, the deep things of God. Now jump down to verse number 14. But the natural man does not receive the things of the spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things. Yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. How do we have the mind of Christ? We have the mind of Christ by way of the person of the Holy Spirit, hallelujah. And so therefore, look at this here in verse number seven of John 14.
Speaker 1:Let's go back over there, and I feel like somebody needs to hear this right now that you've been faced with something in your life right now that's been completely catastrophic to you, and you're facing something right now that you don't know how you're going to get around. You're facing this mountain. You're wondering God, how am I going to get through this? Somebody's received a doctor's report. Somebody's received bad news. Somebody has received news that your husband has walked out. Your wife has walked out. They told you that they wanted a divorce. You found out that you've got to die and cannot live. You found out that you can't have any children. They just sent you an unexpected bill. Your car broke down and there's more month than there is money. And now you've got this extra bill and you're wondering listen, god has things prepared. I could come Look at this here In Psalm 23,.
Speaker 1:Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies. Enemies are not necessarily people. Enemies aren't necessarily just Satan himself. It can be anything in your life. It can be debt, it can be discouragement, it can be any of those things. But God has prepared a table before you in the presence of your enemies. My good God Almighty, he's already prepared. That means it's already waiting for you.
Speaker 1:But why is this important? That's why we have the person of the Holy Spirit. He's our guide to the abundant life. That's why it says I as has seen, he hasn't heard, hasn't entered the heart of man the things that God has prepared. But God, come on somebody. You got to have a big butt in every situation. You got to throw your big butt at it. You got to say, but God has revealed them unto us. What the things he's already prepared. It's not hidden from you, it is hidden for you, it's hidden in the mind of Christ Jesus. That's the reason why, when you're in the middle of the trial, you've got to seek the face of God.
Speaker 1:When Jesus was getting ready to go against the cross, he went into Gethsemane. He needed to get the mind of the Father. He came out with his face shining like the noonday sun and he understood things were going to be different, that there would be glory after this Hallelujah were going to be different, and that there would be glory after this Hallelujah. Now look at this here. Let's look here.
Speaker 1:Verse number 15 of John, chapter 14. If you love me, keep my commandments and I will pray the father and he will give you another helper, hallelujah that he may abide with you forever. Now look at this. It's very important that we understand something here If you want the Holy Spirit to be your guide, you've got to keep his commandments. See, we miss stuff like this If you love me, keep my commandments and I'll pray the Father and he'll give you another helper that he may abide with you forever. So there's something about walking right, talking right, living right. That releases the Holy Spirit in our lives. He will give you another helper that he may abide with you forever, the spirit of truth whom the world cannot receive because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he dwells with you and will be with you and in you, and I will not leave you orphans, but I will come to you by way of the person of the Holy Ghost. Hallelujah, now look at it.
Speaker 1:Jump down to verse 25. These things I've spoken to you while being present with you. But the helper come on, somebody type in. The helper is with me, help is on the way. The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, bring to your remembrance all things that I have said to you and therefore, my peace, I live with you. My peace I give to you, not as the world gives, do I give it to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. You have heard me say I'm going away and coming back to you. If you love me, you would rejoice, because I said I'm going to the Father, for my Father is greater than I. Look at this here in verse number 31. All right, actually I'm sorry, I'm not even going to go that far. If you look at that, they're the helper, the Holy spirit verse 26, whom the father will send in my name. He will teach you all things, bring to remembrance all things, that of which it is that I have said unto you.
Speaker 1:Now let's go to John, chapter 16. Again, I want, I want you to catch this here. I want you to catch this here. I talked a little bit about this yesterday because I'm going to take you somewhere. He's our guide to the abundant life. Now look at this here in verse number 13 of John, chapter 16. However, when he, the spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears, he will speak and he will tell you things to come.
Speaker 1:Now let's go ready to Matthew, chapter number seven. Matthew, chapter number seven. I hope you're getting something out of this today. This is the reason why you've got to get up in the morning and pray. This is why God has spoken. He said tell my people keep oil in their lamps. Keep loving your heart. Sin 11 in your life. Oil, symbolic of the Holy spirit. Keep oil in their lamps, keep loving your heart. Sin 11 in your life. Oil, symbolic of the Holy Spirit. Keep him in your hearts, abide in him, dwell with him, be with him, let him lead you, guide you and direct you.
Speaker 1:Now, how do we get to the event of life? Now listen, a lot of people have an issue with prosperity. I do not Listen. Prosperity. There's nothing wrong with prosperity. This is where prosperity gets wrong. What's the road you take to get to it? The devil. Now watch this Before I give you the scripture. The devil will always remove the premium for the abundant life and for the blessed life, but he will also remove the penalty for sin.
Speaker 1:The problem that I have with prosperity preachers, as they call them, is that they will say you can have all of these things, but it doesn't cost you nothing. If they say you can be blessed, you can have it, but you've got to live on a certain path. I'm all for it. The road paved to prosperity is a difficult one in the kingdom, and those that walk on that road will be blessed. Those that do not will not be blessed, and so my point in saying this is that I believe prosperity is a great thing.
Speaker 1:God wants you to have the abundant life. God wants you to be an overcomer. This is the key, even the Holy Spirit, the helper. He will come, he will guide you into all truth. He will tell you of things to come. He will lead you, he will be the spirit of truth that will reveal to you truth. He will bring all things back to your remembrance prophetic words that God has spoken. He will do all of that. But listen, this is what's important here. If he's going to be your guide, where is he taking you? When you have a guide, they have a path that they take you on. Now, watch this is what the Holy Spirit will do. This is the guide. The Holy Spirit is the guide. But watch this. This is the road map paved in the kingdom to the abundant life.
Speaker 1:Look at here, matthew, chapter seven, verse number 13. Enter by the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction and there are many going in by it. Why? Because verse 14, narrow is the gate and straight and difficult is the way, which means it's compacted by pressure that leads to life, to the abundant life, the zoe, the life of God, and there are few that find it. Why life of God? And there are few that find it? Why? Because of the broad way. It's so much easier to live any way you want to live, do what you want to do, operate how you want to operate.
Speaker 1:But if you are going to abide in the Holy Ghost, you have got to learn to live a narrow life. What does that mean? It's not mixed with the world, it's not what the world does, it's not being like the world, it's not compromising like the world. It's things you say, the conversations you keep, the things you allow in your life. That is the world. That does not promote godliness. Those are the broad way the devil wants you to always. Broaden it. Bring a little bit of the world into your life. Bring a little bit of compromise into your life. Why? Because then he can have access to you. This is the narrow way, ladies and gentlemen. This is the way that we get to the abundant life.
Speaker 1:Now go back over to John 14 again. I want to go back here again because this is very, very important. Now go back to verse 15, john, chapter 14, verse number 15. If you love me, keep my commandments and I will pray the father and he will give you another helper. Keep my commandments in the narrow way, not the broad way and the dangerous part.
Speaker 1:If you read on in Matthew 7, it begins to go right into after verse 14, goes into 15, all the way through the end of the passage talking about how people will build their lives one way and another. But that will be false. Prophets will come to you. And what do false prophets do? False prophets always endorse the broad way. It's easy.
Speaker 1:God understands, he gets us. It's all good. There's no premium for the blessing. There's no penalty for sin. Let me tell you what I mean by there's no premium for the blessing and for the abundant life. It doesn't take all of that. You don't have to be in legalism. You can do. You know God understands. No, no, no, no. There's a premium that that road. That's why G said there aren't a lot of people that'll find it A lot. Why? Because that price, when that, when you got to get into that narrow gate and go through that narrow way, that flesh is going to be crucified. There are things that God's going to take out of you. There's things that he's going to purify. A lot of people are like man. I don't want that, but that's the premium for the abundant life. Salvation is free. The abundant life will cost you everything. I want to say that again Salvation is free, but the abundant life, it'll cost you everything. And that's why Jesus said there are a few that will find it. And that's why he's saying also if you want the guide to the abundant life, keep my commandments and I'll pray to the father. He'll send a helper to you. He'll help you get that if you keep my commandments and he will help you to keep my commandments. But the reality is that is the way, ladies and gentlemen, to the abundant life. Hallelujah. And this is the reason why it's so important Be careful of the false prophets of our day and hour that say you can live any way you want to live, you can do anything you want to do, it's all good.
Speaker 1:Now what is what will pass? Yeah, I fell short. I messed up, I made a mistake. That's okay, get back up, get back in line. My point is what false prophets do they excuse it? There's no penalty, there's no premium. There's no penalty for sin, there's no premium for the abundant life. God wants you to have the abundant life, but there is a premium and that is what your flesh and that's what the broad way false prophets say. It's okay. You know what? All the things that you think are sin? God just winks at it and just keeps it moving. No big deal, no penalty, no consequence.
Speaker 1:I talked about this before. If you read in Genesis chapter three, what is the thing that? Let's go there real quickly, just for time's sake. Hallelujah. Genesis chapter three. Look at this here, when Eve is being tempted by the serpent, let's see how he removes the penalty for sin, which means you can do what you wanna do. It ain't gonna cost you. But, matter of fact, before we go there, let's go to Genesis chapter two. Okay, you have to remember now they're in the garden of Eden, they're in the abundant life. I mean there's gold there. You can read through it. I mean it's the most beautiful planet. I mean, my goodness, god has given them the abundant life. They're walking in the presence of God. They hear the voice of God in the garden each and every day. They're walking with him. I mean they are just flowing in the presence of God, in the glory of God. But look at this here. And it says here in Genesis 2, verse number 8, let's start here Now.
Speaker 1:The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden. There he put man, whom he had formed, and out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight for food and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Now jump down to verse number 15. Then the Lord took man and put him in the garden of Eden and told him to tend it and to keep it. The Lord commanded now, look at this, the Lord. What did Jesus say? Keep my commandments, keep my commandments and I'll send you the helper. What did, oh my goodness, what Adam and Eve lost? You're going to see what happened here. And Lord God commanded. The man said of every tree of the garden you may freely eat, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat of it, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die. Okay, now jump over to Genesis, chapter three, and I want to show you something here. Remember Now. I want to show you something here. Remember. Jesus said keep my commandments, I'll send you the helper. Okay, now you have to remember. In the garden of Eden they were walking in the glory of God. Genesis, chapter three, in verse number one.
Speaker 1:Now, the serpent was more cunning, deceiving, than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman has God really said you should not eat of the tree of the garden? The woman said to the serpent we may eat of the fruit of the trees of God, but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of God, god has said you shall not eat of it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die. Now, look at this, let me show you. This is the way he works. And the serpent said to the woman you will not surely die. He removed the penalty. Watch this, for God knows that in the day that you eat of it, your eyes will be open and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. And we know the story here.
Speaker 1:Eve takes to the fruit, then gives to Adam. He eats of the fruit. Their eyes come open. They know they're naked. What were they clothed with? Watch this, the Holy Spirit.
Speaker 1:What did he say?
Speaker 1:Keep my command. He said, if you keep my command, go back to Genesis two. Let's look at this one more time, just so. Then you get it all here. It says here, verse 16,.
Speaker 1:And the Lord God commanded the man, of every tree of the garden you may freely eat, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you should not eat of it.
Speaker 1:From the day they eat of it, you shall surely die.
Speaker 1:You won't walk in the abundant life, you'll walk in abundant death. So he said. And what did Jesus say in John, chapter 14? He said if you keep my commandments, I chapter 14. He said if you keep my commandments, I will pray to the father, he will send the helper. Now watch this you don't get the glory of God without the commandment of God. And so what happened? Adam and Eve had the glory of God on their life, but they had to keep the command. When they didn't keep the command, they got naked, the glory lifted off of their life and, as a result, jesus had to come back and redeem us and give it back.
Speaker 1:And now he's telling us if you want to walk in the abundant life, live on the narrow path, keep my commands. The commands are not going to have you tasting the world, living in the world, operating in the world and listen. The further away you ready for this, the further away you get from the world, the further away you will experience the decay of the world. I'm going to say that again the further away you get away from the world, the further away you'll get from the decay, the effects of the world. The more you ingest of the world, the more it will affect you, the more you'll experience the impact of the world and the decay of the world and the things that sickness is. But the further you get away from the world, the decay of the world and the things that sickness is. But the further you get away from the world, hallelujah, the further away the decay of the world. It can't touch you because you're living on another level.
Speaker 1:So listen, today I wanna encourage you. Live the narrow life, live in the straight gate, live in the narrow gate and God will supernaturally bless your life. So, father, I bless your people today From the tops of their head to the soles of their feet. Father, I declare, father, that the blessing of Almighty God will be upon them from this day forward. Be with them, anoint them, bless them and keep them. Father and Lord, I thank you that, as they walk in the presence, the person and the power of the Holy Ghost, their life will be blessed like never before. In Jesus' name, amen, amen, amen.
