Dimensions August 28 2025: Reaction to the Minnesota School Shooting Part II
What's going on, everybody? It's your boy back in the house, Pastor Jay Anthony Gibbon. I've got a special guest with me. My son is here. It's good to have you, Jay.
Speaker 2:Thank you.
Speaker 1:Are you glad to be on Dimensions? Yes, listen, we got a brand new host here with us. He's filling in for his mom right now. But listen y'all, we're going to be talking about part two of the shooting that happened in Minnesota. So we're going to be addressing it. And I've got another guest who's going to be coming back in just a minute, as you saw yesterday, my buddy, our minister for G12 young adults, aj Eddick Benden. He was there with me. He's coming back today.
Speaker 1:We've got some special clips and some other things we're going to show you, give you some more reactions to what's been happening there at the Minnesota school shoot, and we believe this is something that the devil has plotted, but God has a plan to overcome, and so we're ready to go into this. Keep it locked. We'll be right back after this. What's going on everybody? Pastor, jay, anthony Gilbert, here, along with my son, jay. We are here and we are so excited to be bringing another edition to Dimensions and even though we're excited to be coming to you live, we are definitely heartbroken over the events that have happened there in Minnesota. It's so upsetting to see what's happening and what has taken place. If you did not get a chance to check out our last episode. Yesterday we did another episode talking about the reactions and the thoughts and our prayers towards those of the atrocity that happened. There's been I believe the record now is up to 18 individuals that have been wounded and two that were murdered, ages eight and 10 years old. We need to be praying, we need to stand in the gap for those family members. People are really, really struggling and it is important that we understand that God is on the throne, there's nothing to be afraid of and that this is the reality that God is with us and he's gonna be with those families and God is gonna bring us through and he is going to get the glory.
Speaker 1:So if you missed yesterday's episode, don't forget to download our podcast. Take a minute and get that. It's on every place. Platform, podcast platforms are delivered. You can grab that and you can become the latest member of the Dimensions family and every single time that our live show goes off, it's immediately uploaded afterwards and you can take Dimensions wherever you go, whether you're in the workplace, whether you're on your iPad, whether you're on the plane. It'll automatically be downloaded to your phone, to your iPad, to your computer and you can keep a lookout for what's going on with that.
Speaker 1:And then I need you to take a minute right now Like, subscribe, follow, share, do all of those things, whether on YouTube or Facebook, wherever you're watching us and listening right now, go ahead and do that, so then we can get this message out. But you know, jay, I was thinking about something eight years old, 10 years old. First of all, I would be heartbroken if it was you or Anthony. You guys, you're 11. You just started sixth grade this week and Anthony started fourth grade and he's nine years old. What were your thoughts about those kids being killed in the shooting that happened?
Speaker 2:in the church. If it was a shooting in the church I would be really devastated and I would not be too happy and I would probably maybe call 911 and to grab the police and try to do as much as I can to keep everyone safe.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that'd be important. What are your thoughts If you had to talk right now into the camera? And you had to talk to the kids that lost their brother or sister and the people that were shot? What would you tell those families to encourage them?
Speaker 2:I would tell them I'm sorry for your loss and I hope everything goes well for the rest of your life and whatever you do to your family, I think you will do well and I think, since you got your loss, I'm unfortunately sorry for that and if you have any more kids, god bless them and that everything else goes well for the whole rest of their lives that's good.
Speaker 1:That was some great words, buddy, you know, as I don't know, my nickname for our son is buddy. You can call him jay, but uh, that's my nickname for him and, uh, you know, it's really devastating. I was thinking about if it were you or anthony, and how I would feel and the hole that we would have in our hearts because we love you guys so much. And imagine if it was your brother or that had died. I mean, it would just be devastating. And that's why I remember on Sunday we prayed over everybody in our church, didn't we? I anointed you, I anointed Anthony and all of the people from young kids all the way up to college age, to make sure that they're covered under the blood of Jesus. You know we pray over kids like that. How does that make you feel when we pray over people?
Speaker 2:Make me feel protected by God.
Speaker 1:That's right. And underneath that pastoral anointing and see, ladies and gentlemen, when you're under that pastoral anointing, you're protected and you're covered that Psalm 91 comes over your life, that Isaiah 58, 17 comes over your life and Psalm 91 is he that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the almighty, I will say, of the Lord. He is my fortress and my refuge, my God. In him will I trust.
Speaker 1:It says I won't feel the arrow by day, nor the pestilence at night, nor the destruction at night. I'm sorry the destruction night, nor the pestilence that wastes at noonday, destruction at night, or sorry the destruction at night, nor the pestilence that wastes at noonday. He said a thousand will fall at thy side, ten thousand at thy right hand, but it shall not come nigh thee. And I love that because that lets me know that we're protected, we're covered. He gives us angels charged round about us and that's why we're encouraging everybody. What do we do before we go and drop you and Anthony off to school? What's the one thing I always do every morning?
Speaker 2:My dad always prays before we go to school to have much protection and that any school shootings and any injuries or any fire lockdown to have a hedge of protection over us.
Speaker 1:And then I pray over your minds. I pray that they learn. Well, I speak the blessing over them Every single day. I pray over them. I come against every school shooting. I bind it in the name of Jesus Every single day that I drop them off. I pray the same thing because his mercies are new every morning and his daily bread is available every morning. So it's important that we are praying over our children. You know, I want to bring Brother AJ Addick-Bendon, our youth sorry, young adults minister here at Another Level Ministries. I want to bring him on right now. Aj, I want to welcome you to the show. Thank you for coming on right now. Aj, I want to welcome you to the show. Thank you for coming on. I'm so glad to have you with us and glad to have you back again to give some insight to what's been happening here and our reaction to the Minnesota school shooting.
Speaker 3:Yeah, thank you so much, Pastor, jay and buddy, it's good to see you, my man this is. You know we're still processing and I can only imagine what's going on for the families in this moment. You know my heart is getting heavier and heavier as time goes to think. You know, as a society we talked about at one point, things were sacred, things were all up ground, you know, and that's being challenged. The fabric of the world that we live in is being challenged right in front of us and this isn't a warfare that we're fighting with physical weapons but rather with spiritual ones, you know. So, still processing, it's still very fresh, very new. But the beginning of the school year definitely has a different feel to it, as a time for celebration and time for new beginnings. It just has a very, very ominous feel right now, going into fall.
Speaker 1:Without a doubt. Without a doubt, you know it's. It's really crazy what has been going on here and it's sad that it's it's seeing more Matter of fact, aj, I believe you had a stat before we get to show them this video. You had a stat about how many shootings have happened in the last certain amount of time. Can you give us that stat and some of the things that you were looking at?
Speaker 3:Yeah, so between CNN and ABC, the number that I had was in between 44 and 55, 57 school shootings, and that's just in 2025 alone now, and I don't believe intent is factored into anything like that, but there is a it is. There is some truth behind the fact that, as a nation and as a people, we are becoming very desensitized to these type of things happening on somewhat of a regular basis, which is very, very problematic. We've also seen a stark increase in these type of things happening after kids have gone back to school, post-covid, um, after kids have gone back to school post COVID. So I think we're starting to see, um the cause and effect, um of maybe even some of the social uh uh acclimation and pressures to being in these environments, uh, pre and post COVID as well. Um 2022, I believe, being the starkest increase of years, but we've gradually increased and seen more and more of these tragedies happen since kids have gone back to school in person.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, man, that's a great point. We can't allow ourselves to become desensitized to what's happening Just because it's happening more frequently. We can't allow ourselves to say, okay, this is normal, this is an eight-year-old, an 11-year-old and 18 others that were injured If I have my count right, 18 others that were injured in the middle of a church mass. That people were just completely minding their own business, worshiping God, and then got shot up. It is so important that we do not become desensitized. It's so important that we get prayed up and it's so important that we don't let our guards down, whether in church or wherever we are, that we keep ourselves protected, spiritually and naturally. Both of those are very important.
Speaker 1:Now listen, ladies and gentlemen, I've got a video for you I want you to see. This is from a news station and they talked about. They've got some footage that's been taken down off Facebook. This is footage that you can't find anywhere outside of this because they've taken it down unless you can get a hold of it, and we've got special footage of what the shooter did beforehand, the day before, what was happening in his mind. They got a couple of pictures of his manifesto, and I want you to take a look at this right now, because we're going to come back, we're going to talk a little bit more and notice the names on the guns and the things that he's saying and the twisted, demonic thinking and the thoughts that he was having and the helplessness and the hopelessness that he was feeling leading up to it.
Speaker 4:Take a listen of Robin Westman, and they were live for a couple hours before being removed by law enforcement. One of the more jarring images from the videos is this one the arsenal of guns and ammo on display. Something many of you may have noticed is the written words and names on some of the weapons. One of the guns says kill Trump, and others have the names of notable mass shooters, including Rupnow, likely a reference to Natalie Rupnow, the suspected mass shooter in Madison last year. The name Robert Bowers is also written on one of the weapons. He was responsible for the deadliest attack on the Jewish community. We don't know when this video was shot, but there is a reference to tomorrow. Take a listen Tomorrow listen Tomorrow.
Speaker 2:I'm sorry to my family, but that's it. That's all the only people I'm sorry to those kids.
Speaker 4:It's really disturbing to listen to. In addition to the guns and ammo, the video also flips through these pages of what appears to be a manifesto. It's addressed to my family and friends, saying in part I'm a sad person haunted by these thoughts that do not go away. I know this is wrong, but I can't seem to stop myself. In another video, this one, westman shows a different letter written in other language and ending with this map. It appears to be of a church, possibly a critical clue for investigators. We see several guns in those videos. Police say only three were used in the attack Guys all three purchased legally and recently Lindsay.
Speaker 1:So you know, I'm looking at this here and, AJ, what are your first thoughts seeing that video there?
Speaker 3:It's chilling. It's chilling. You know people, some people, who are pessimists. They don't believe in an absolute good or a perfect will of God or the peace of God, but it is very clear in that video that there is such thing as evil um in the earth and active as we saw. You know that just that just brings such a wrenching and a disturbance to my heart. Uh, thinking about that, thinking in someone's mind, these, these are logical steps to take. Um, this is something so much more than a mental health issue. This is a spiritual crisis. You know that we're in Um, yeah, very, very hard to watch, very hard to see. Um torment is what really comes to mind as someone under serious uh derision and affliction, um and and and warfare, and what a shame uh that even that soul uh is going to have to suffer. You know, and the suffering that was brought um because of you know, uh, maybe a lack of of peace and uh, definitely a lack of Jesus Christ in our life.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you know, uh. I thought it was kind of chilling. That's a great word to use when he's singing tomorrow from Annie. I think it was Annie, wasn't Annieie? Was that was uh? I'm sorry, not annie. Um, from uh, wasn't it the wizard of oz, and I'm thinking tomorrow.
Speaker 3:I wanted I wanted to do it. I thought that was annie. Hey, who was it from? I thought it was annie was it annie? Maybe it was annie I'm not a big broadway guy yeah, I know it's a kid, is it man?
Speaker 1:anybody? Okay? And he's singing that. I'm thinking like you're singing that right before. They don't know if that was recorded the day before, but they were saying how, how chilling that is. And he was saying how the only person I'm sorry for is my family. And he was saying bleep these kids. And I'm sitting here thinking in my mind there has to be a devil loose Y'all. You have to understand that. He said kill Trump.
Speaker 1:He had the names of Natalie R rup, now robert uh burroughs, um, he had his name on there who was responsible for the tree of life shooting, uh, and the massacre that happened here in pittsburgh, um, a few years ago, uh, where I believe it was, eight people were killed there, uh, during that time, uh and I'm. He listened to some things he said. He said I I know it's wrong, but I can't stop. I can't stop with these feelings. They're overwhelming and that's how you can tell you're dealing with demonic principalities and powers and that it is real and that's why think about it.
Speaker 1:He was under the influence and I don't know how some of these kids. I would love to be able to figure out how they got to where they are, but there's a way that they were, whatever it was, something happened in their life and they just go deeper and deeper and deeper. And one of the things I've noticed, aj, too, all of them had interactions in social media. They immediately all of the FBI and all of them they immediately go to social media to see what were they doing, what was happening. And I believe you can tell a lot about your children based upon what they're involved in with social media. That's why, even with our kids, we're very protective of them. On social media, we're very we watch over everything because there's so much to get into on those things that kids don't need to be exposed to, but it's very, very important. What are your thoughts about that, aj? Just at, every single child or shooter, or every shooter rather, that has done one of these, they all have something linked with social media.
Speaker 3:Well, you know, I'm a young guy and a couple of my friends were under the understanding. If there's a young lady and you want to learn about her, you check her social media and see what she's about, Not because that's going to necessarily be the real version of that person, but how they want to present themselves.
Speaker 3:Right, they're giving you the window to the essence that they want to share with other people. Social media is a tool I'll stand on it for the gospel to be shared. It's a resource and I believe it should be, can be and will continue to be used as such. It's something that people have just come up with. Now we're in that point of technology where it's just, it's something you do when you get to a certain age and you reach in that hierarchy of needs of developing, you think well, this is how I present myself.
Speaker 3:I do believe that there's a level of disconnect between people living in real life and them thinking. The online arena, as I call it, is their reality and what they really have going on. It's very easy, you know, to put up a facade or to paint a picture. That's just not reality when it comes to these social media sites. So, the common denominator I would even go as far to say that there are identity problems in the mix If we have different people, you know, using that and presenting themselves in specific ways, especially that are telling and that give clues into what's happening in the minds of the perpetrators before these these events are taking place.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you know nothing to kind of shift gears for a second with that. You know, as you're talking about social media and all that, you know you have cyberbullying. You've got bullying. That's happening in schools, you know. When I grew up, you know if the kid got bullied, you know a lot of time they'd be upset and I'm not for bullying or anything along that line, but got bullied you know. A lot of time they'd be upset and I'm not for bullying or anything along that line. But kids would get up. They'd either get into a fight or go home and then the principal would get involved, something along that line.
Speaker 1:Nowadays these kids are taking matters into their own hands. You know it's funny how, back in the day, you know it's kind of my I remember back in that I watched a movie called Friday and he talked about how he said Craig, what do you got to have a gun for? He said, you win some and you lose some, he said, but you live to fight another day. Nowadays these kids will just come out. You know, teenagers, teenagers I'll do some research on the Columbine shooting.
Speaker 1:I don't know if you noticed. On the gun, aj, it says do you believe in God? And that is a reference to. I can't remember their names, but there were two high school students that killed all those people in Columbine. That was the first. That was the largest but the first real mass shooting that really happened of national attention.
Speaker 1:The way it did back and I think it was 19 was at 98 or 99, I believe it was and he had do you believe in God, because that was one of the questions. As I did some research, I guess he had do you believe in God? Because that was one of the questions. As I did some research, I guess they thought it was at one point Cassie Bernal who was asked. She was a bona fide Christian. That was asked the question and then he killed her after that. But I guess over time they said that wasn't it. There's another girl Her name was Valerie, I can't remember her last name but she survived it. But she was asked did she believe in God? And he's putting that on there. So I mean, there's a study that they're doing and a lot of these kids have been bullied. You know, buddy, have you seen any type of bullying ever in schools or things like that?
Speaker 2:Yep.
Speaker 1:And what are your thoughts about bullying and you know, in dealing with kids in school.
Speaker 2:I would in my experience. I just went to the principal's and many kids could do that because they're at school, but any type of school, they could just tell their principal and then the principal would be involved with it, and you can just move on.
Speaker 1:And it's not a good thing, is it? It's not a good thing, no, it's not a good thing that kids are bullied and made fun of or things like that. You know, it's really not a great thing, and you know we've all had some, for we've either seen it, experienced it or something along that line. And AJ, how is it on campuses at college? Do you see bullying at all that happens or things that transpire?
Speaker 3:You know, I see a very different stressor and something that could bind the mind and even the soul at times of young people where, you know, going from the community college, you get a very eclectic mix of people who are there for a similar reason and a very similar season of their life. So you have these, like you know, ragtag group of people that wouldn't hang out outside of community college, you know. So everyone really has their fill and their fix. When you go to these bigger universities, when you go to a Pitt or a CMU, what I see a lot of is a continuation of, like a high school mentality where it's like we get in over here, we get in with these folks over here.
Speaker 3:It gets very cliquish and not finding that in if you don't know who you are can be very challenging and a serious problem for the young mind. You know, in campus ministry it's very common and we talk about it a lot when planning on how to introduce the gospel to people and get people plugged into a ministry family is that. You know, the semester is a great restart and a grand restart in the minds of a lot of college students. So when the new semester is coming, it's who am I this semester, what's my thing, what's my spiel, what's my story? And if you don't have a consistent identity and you don't know that you're a son or daughter of the most high, it can be very, very challenging and impossible in our reality to find that type of validation from people who are figuring it out just like you.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you know, and it goes a step further too. As you were talking, I was thinking about how one of the hardest things to find and I've talked to most pastors and church leaders is finding kids workers in church. Wow, a lot of pastors don't, a lot of churches and pastors don't want to invest in a kid's ministry because there's no money in it Investment. But think about it. They took prayer, they took the 10 commandments out of the schools. President Trump's trying to bring those back, but what did they do? They took that out. And then we're taking the Bible out of our kids department a lot of ways. You know we need to get back to teaching our kids the hymns and teaching our kids the word of God and teaching our kids all of those things so then they can have the word hidden in their hearts. You know and think about it, if we invested into children's ministry to really grow them and give them an encounter with God, teach them the value of life, teaching the value of being pro-life, teaching the value of marriage, teaching the value of sexuality, that God made boys and girls and it's not up for choice. You are what you are designated in teaching them those things and those principles and those words from the time of an early age, putting the Bible back into the church, back into the pulpits, back into media, every place that we can to bring the word of God back, I believe we would see a total reformation and transformation that would take place. But the devil wants to remove all of that out. So then there's no influence and then we live like it was in the time of the judges, where everyone did what was right in their own eyes. I mean, these aren't like 40 and 50 year olds, these are teenagers Now.
Speaker 1:This person, his name was Robin Westman, he was 23 years old. He once attended the school Annunciation Catholic Church that's the name of the church and the name of the school there and he had now check this out, aj. He had three weapons a rifle, a shotgun and a pistol. A shotgun and a pistol. So what I've done, my research, to what I've seen so far the pistol he tried to use, but it got locked there, was jammed up. But the rifle and the shotgun he purchased all of them, all of them lawfully, didn't get in the black market, didn't go out in the street somewhere, purchased them all. Now this is the thing that really is amazing to me that he could be able to purchase those weapons and that our screening process is so weak that nobody could recognize it. And the last thing that I want to mention as well, that he died by suicide shot wound, a self-inflicted gun wound, and took his own life after that.
Speaker 1:So think about how twisted you have to be that you know you're going into this. I'm going to kill myself at the end. That's exactly what I'm going to do. Into this, I'm going to kill myself at the end. Um, that's exactly what I'm going to do, and I'm going to kill as many people as I can on the way out that they're willing to make that type of an exchange.
Speaker 1:I would love to be able to read the manifesto, because that's showing the plotting and the planning and all those things. But I think it's so sad that we have people now they're calling it mental illness aj, I have another word called. It's called demonic possession, I believe. With something like that, you're dealing with demons. But he got all three guns dealing with demons, dealing with mental health, all of these things and then killed himself. I mean, what is your thoughts on people being able to get these type of machinery and these type of ammunition. I mean you're talking about massive rifles. You saw those bullets that he had and be able to take that at 23 years old. In my opinion, sometimes they need to up until you're like 30. Right, buy a gun till you're 30 years old just because you're 21. Don't mean you should have a gun. That's just my thoughts on it.
Speaker 3:Right.
Speaker 1:People are probably going to disagree with that, but I think they're just dangerous, dangerous things. You should take classes, all of those things. You to just go get a weapon and say I'm gonna carry one. There should be qualifications for people. That's just my thought. With it, a lot of people I know I may get some kickback from that, but I just think there needs to be an extensive process, and maybe not 30, but you need to go through a process, just how you got to take classes when you are taking a driver's test. You got to take classes, you got to go through all, you got to drive a certain amount of hours and then you know it wouldn't even be a bad idea to where every year, you had to go back and re-register, I mean to make sure Are you still sane? I mean, I do have this weapon. You plan on doing harm to yourself or to someone else, but what are your thoughts on gun reformation and control?
Speaker 3:Well, it's a, it's a can of worms. And then some fight it, you know, trying to unpack the box, that, yeah, this nation was built on the need for one to defend oneself. Right, putting those type of restraints and that type of control over the right to bear arms is the terminology, we know it, as that's not the part that bothers me, it's the government and the administration that would be in place while these type of controls and while these type of adjustments are made. That's where I get very leery in the fact that we have a bipartisan system that has the tendency in my lifetime at least, when electing a leader of this nation, to go back and forth and to seesaw to extremes. So what we can see is a lot of inconsistency, right to extremes. So what we can see is a lot of inconsistency, right Even the reciprocity for concealed carry weapons.
Speaker 3:You know, throughout states I've always found that very interesting that each state has their own laws and you know some states accept other licenses and some don't. And you know, all in all, the laws can help and bring guidance with the right people, with the right administration, with the right administration, with the right people in place. But overall, the real reformation we need is, you know, the bride of Christ getting it together, you know we need. This is so much more of a Jesus problem and a church problem than a policy one.
Speaker 1:Without a doubt, without a doubt, and that's good words. And I want to take a minute and we're just going to pray for just a second, just each one of us to do just a very short prayer. Buddy, I want you to pray for the kids in the school and just pray just a short prayer and ask God's blessing over them. Yep, go ahead, yep, go ahead.
Speaker 2:Lord, I just ask you right now to just heal all those injuries, lord, from those kids, lord, and whatever ages they are, just please bless them and you always try to do as much as you can to try to keep them as safe as they can.
Speaker 2:Lord, and that all their parents and all the others who got killed, lord, all these parents are probably devastated right now, lord, just please put a thing of protection on them, lord, today, lord, and that, even though it wasn't a PA all over the world, whoever our questions, we still want to bless them and then some people may want to teach them about the Bible, lord, and that all the kids in that school, lord, that are probably devastated because their friend, lord, who got shot, injured, and that it's very unfortunate that all those two kids died, lord, eight and ten, lord, they didn't live a long life, but even though they just started a new school, lord, and it's just very sad because it's just a new beginning of the school year, lord, and it's probably not too happy, lord, because it's just starting, because it's just right after the summer, lord, all kids are getting back into the school year and please, for all those other parents, lord, and kids, lord, the rest of those kids, lord, please put protection on them and that keeps them safe, lord, amen.
Speaker 1:Amen AJ.
Speaker 3:Lord God, we just thank you for your goodness and for times like this. Father God, we lay everything down at your feet and, lord, we just thank you for the opportunity that is knowing you and having you involved in our lives. Father God, we just lift you up and praise you in this time where it doesn't make sense. Lord, we lift your name up, we exalt you, we thank you for your goodness, for your kindness and for your mercy. God, we just give it all to you.
Speaker 3:Father God, we just ask for soothing and a healing of mothers, of fathers, lord God. Family members, lord God, of mothers, of fathers, lord God, family members, lord God. Ease hearts, lord God, and bring peace in the household once more. Father God, lord, you are Jehovah Shalom and you are Adonai, you are Elohim, lord, and we know you by these many names, father God, and we just ask that you show up and show out in the lives of many at this time, father God, bless the grieving parents and the grieving families right now, lord, and just show up in their lives, father God, comfort them, touch their hearts, protect their faith, lord, seal them in your will. Father God, we thank you and we praise you in the mighty name of Jesus.
Speaker 1:Father, we just pray against the spirit of fear that nobody would walk in fear, but of power, love and a psalm. We pray for peace, for all those affected, all those that are devastated in this time. And, lord, I just place a head of protection round about every person that is watching that your hand would be upon them, that our schools, that our churches, that our lives would be covered in the name of Jesus, and I speak the blessing over every single person and declare Father, the peace of god round about their minds, their children and their grandchildren.
