SPEAKER_00You know, the Bible says, study to show yourself approval workmen or workwoman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. I told you before we're going to come back to you today with part two of a preview of another level Bible Institute. We started our first week last Saturday, and we're looking at the class Comparative Religions. It's about an hour class, so I've broken it down into two different parts. And then tomorrow, I'm going to give you another opportunity to check out the second class. So I'm trying to give you everything I can to get you signed up for the class. So you're not going to want to miss this. This is free Bible education. You're getting a free preview, a free class. I hope that you'll be blessed by this. Hope that you'll stick around and learn what we're going to get into on comparative religion. So last time we talked about those three major issues and Christianity being the plumb line. Number one, how the word of God is divine authority. We've got to understand it's divinely inspired by God. Number two, that man, the problem with all of mankind is sin and their need for a savior. And three, the person and work of Jesus Christ. Every other religion will nullify those three areas. It will break those areas down. And so we are establishing the plumb line for Christianity as a Christian worldview and then breaking down every other religion accordingly, because those are the top three things that we have to use as the plumb line to measure if it is truly according to the word of God. So that was awesome. You're not going to want to miss this one. It's going to be a blessing to you. We're going to do part two. If you haven't seen part one, go back and check it out. Otherwise, keep it locked and loaded because Dimensions is coming to you right now. Anointed and empowered by God to help you keep oil in your lamps, love in your heart, and send 11 out of your life to prepare the body of Christ, the bride of Christ for the return of Jesus Christ. And you can be the latest member of the Dimensions family and never miss an episode of what we're doing here in the Word of God. And you know, today I'm really excited because we are showing you part two of Comparative Religions. We just recently launched our Bibles Institute, another level Bible Institute. It started last Saturday. Hallelujah. I believe that was what, the 21st. And so we are coming back on the 28th. You can still sign up for the class. That's why I wanted to give you a little taste of it. So then hopefully you'll be able to get in on it and check it out. See if it's something you want to do. You could take it from home. You could take it in school. It's a hybrid class. You can come one week and stay home the next. All we ask is people to stay online, check out the class. We're getting all sorts of reviews back from people, how much they've been enjoying it, how much they've been learning. You know, the Bible says to study. It's a command. It's not even an option. He says, study to show yourself. He's not if you feel like it, study to show yourself approved. That you can be a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. And a day and an hour where truth is no more in people's lives is a priority. It's no longer something that people hold as valuable. Now everything is relative. It's relative truth. It's not uh uh immutable truth, it's not uh a moral truth, it's relative truth. And you know what? God's word is truth. And so that's why we need to get into it and experience it. So listen, take a moment, get ready, get a pad and a pen, grab your Bible. I can't wait to get into part two right now. We're about to do this, and you're about to go in and be blessed by the word of God. Now I'm gonna give you another free part of the class, and then I'm gonna come back at the end and show you again how you can sign up. If you've already made up in your mind, go to anotherlevel.church, sign up for it, another level Bible Institute, and you can go through and register and get signed up. We've got payment plans available as well. And if you're not sure, you can watch this, check it out, and then at the end, I'm gonna talk to you again on how you can do that. And the other way that you can do is you can text the word Bible Institute, all one word to 412-586-7159. It's coming up on your screen right there, Bible Institute. Text that word, Bible Institute. It's not a word, but it's the you see what I'm saying. It's all one word. There's no space. Bible Institute, 412-586-7159. And come hang out with us. We're adding people all the time, and it's been such a blessing. Can't wait to see what God's gonna do in the future. So without any further ado, here we go. Are we ready? Let's get ready to lock and loaf the burial resurrection because that covers the three things that we're gonna talk about and why Christ is so important. Now remember this too. Every religion that we will study, it will always try to remove Christ out of the equation. The reason being it, or somehow nullify what he did. This is why. Because Jesus said, I'm the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father except by me. So if you were Satan, what would you do? You'd block the way, you'd block the truth, so then people can't get to life. That's exactly what you do. So we have to have the plumb line, understanding Jesus' death, his burial, and resurrection, man's need for it, the universal truth and biblical worldview that the Bible is 100% true, it's uninfallible, and it's completely God's word. And then as a result of that, what Christ did for us and who he is, when we do that, we know we have the plumb line laid correctly. You have to understand those things there. So, did Christ actually rise from the dead? 1 Corinthians chapter 15, verse number 17. 1 Corinthians chapter 15, number 17. And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile, and you are still dead in your sins. If he did not get up from the grave, ladies and gentlemen, then you're still a sinner. So this is a plumb line. Christ resurrected. That's why, even at the time of this recording, in a couple of weeks here, we are going to celebrate the resurrection, Easter resurrection Sunday. Why? It is the Super Bowl Sunday of the church. It is where we put our faith and our hope, knowing that if he got up from the grave, he defeated death, hell, and the grave, we are forgiven, we are washed, we are cleansed, and as a result, he defeated death hell in the grave, which promises us what? Eternal life. Hallelujah. So this is what 1 Corinthians 15, 17 says. Listen, if he didn't rise, we're we're we're dead. We're still dead in our sins, but he did get up in Jesus' name. When you read in Matthew 28, verses 1 through 10, Mark 16, 1 through 8, it talks about the resurrection account. You know, I was talking to somebody recently. I think it's amazing that time from the time of Adam to the time of 2026, man has recognized and separated time into two eras, BC and AD by one man, Jesus Christ. We have BC before Christ, AD Anodomini, and what is it, B C E now, because they don't want to give representation to Christ before common era. The devil is alive. The reality is it's separated. It's separated between two eras because of one man and what he did and what he accomplished before Christ under the law, and now in Christ under race. Isn't that so cool? How do you question that? Christmas is still here today because of one man. One man that came, died, buried, and rose again. We separate time into two eras because of one man, Jesus Christ. Who else could do that? But Jesus Christ, he is the one that did it for us. Amen. So they were over, look at, let's look at 1 Corinthians 15. Uh, you're already there in verse number six. Now, what this is important. After that, he was seen, talking about after his resurrection, he was seen by over 500 brethren at once, of whom the greater part remained to the present, but some have died or fallen asleep. What he was saying at that time when he's writing to the church of Corinth, he said, listen, if you don't believe, there's 500 people that you can go and talk to that saw Jesus after he got up out of the grave. There were 12 apostles, 500 total that he appeared to, so then they would know uh that he is risen. Amen. That makes me excited. I'm not here to preach, but boy, it'd be great to preach that right now. So Christ died for our sins. Are we all good? Are we all bad? Or are we in between? Ephesians chapter two, verse one. I'm not gonna spend a lot of time on these just for time's sake. You'll have to research these on your own. Look at verse number one, Ephesians chapter two, verse number one. Are we good? Are we bad? Or are we in between? What does the Bible say that we are? Remember, we talked about the plumb line, that man is in rebellion. We're born into sin, rebellion against God, and we need a savior. So we have to have a plumb line that says we're not good people. Think about it. How many people have y'all known? Those of you that are watching, even as well, how many people have you known that you talk to and say, I'm a good person? I think they're a great person. Why would God send them to hell? Well, what's the plumb line, though? You may be judging it from it's kind of like if you went into a prison and said, Man, that's a great prisoner right there. Well, and in prison, he might be a good guy, but he's still a prisoner. He's still a convicted felon. You know, so I mean, it depends on where you're measuring these things and what stick you're using. So we got to use the Bible. Here we go, as the plumb line. What does it say? And you, he made alive who were what? Dead in trespasses and sin. In Genesis chapter 3, we see where Adam fell and what happened. He ran from God and became God's enemy. Let's look here at Romans 5. This is one I wanted to read just for a moment. Romans chapter 5. We're gonna look here at verse number 12. I gotta keep moving here because I want to get through this. This is this is what's hard about me as a teacher. You get excited about some of these doctrines and you want to get emotional, but you can't do it. You gotta be a good boy. Romans chapter 5, verse number 12. Now, this is a great passage. Romans chapter 5, I would encourage you to read it. You really want to understand the plumb line for man's depravity in sin. Look at this, verse number 12. Therefore, just as one man entered into through one man, sin entered the world and death through sin. Remember, we talked about how the bloodline comes through the man. So as a result of everything that came from Adam has to be born into sin. And here's a great defense for your faith. How many of you have children in here? Raise your hand. How many have children there uh in your homes? Okay. Did you have to teach them to throw a fit? Did you have to teach them to lie? Did you have to teach them to cuss? Did you have to teach them to be lazy? Did you have to teach, you'd have to teach them to do anything bad. What do we do as parents? The whole purpose is to teach them how to be good. Why? We are instinctively born with a sinful nature. All right? Thus death spread to all men because all sin. For until the law, sin was in the world, but it was not imputed because there was no law. Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam to Moses, even though those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of him who was to come. But the free gift is not like the offense, for if by one man's offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offences results in justification. Therefore, if by one man's offense death reigned through one, much more those who received abundance of grace. So he's given a comparison here between Adam and how sin came through the world and how we all were condemned to hell as a result of one man, how through Jesus Christ, when we put our faith in him, put our faith and hope in him, he overcomes all of that, and through that many people become righteous through Jesus Christ. Isn't God so just? So he said, listen, if one man can condemn you to hell, I'll send another man, my son, that can bring you all into heaven. And now what do we do? Put our faith in him. But we have to identify the fact that man is a sinner. There has to be that reality. That's why, listen to me when I say this. Gospel, people that preach from the pulpit and never tell people they're sinners are doing you an injustice. Why do you need a life preserver if you don't believe you're drowning? If you believe you're a good person, you don't need Jesus. This is the reason why most religions water him down. Oh, he's just another prophet. Why? If I'm the devil, what am I gonna do? Block the way, block the truth, keep people from life. The only way to the Father is through Jesus Christ. Now let's read on a little bit further, verse 19. For as by one man's disobedience, many remain sinners, so also through one man's obedience, many will be made righteous. And that is the reality. I want to see if I can find this here. Look at verse number 10, Romans chapter 5, verse number 10. For if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his son, much more having been reconciled shall we be saved by his life. So basically, before we came to Christ, the Bible says, now watch this. Here's the plumb line. Every man is an enemy to God until they come to Jesus. This is the plumb line, and this is the word of God. Romans 3, verse number 23. Let's go there. The Romans rode, Romans 3.23, Romans 6, 23, and then Romans 10, 9 and 10. That's the path to salvation. Romans 3.23, what does this say here? We all probably have heard it before. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 6, 23. Let me show you that real quickly. Romans 6.23, for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. And then Romans 10, 9 and 10 says, if we believe with our mouth and confess, I'm sorry, if we believe in our heart and confess with our mouth that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead, we shall be saved. Hallelujah. This is what's so great about our salvation. So let's go on a little bit further here. I got to make sure I keep going. Did I put my thing to sleep? Oh, there we go. So what exactly is sin? And what decides what is or isn't sin? God has defined it for us in two ways. Number one, the universal moral law, which is general revelation. In Romans chapter one, the Bible talks about how through creation and how just by our own, you know, think about it. When your kids act up and when they were growing up, what did they do? They went and hide. They would lie. Why? They knew something was wrong. There's something we need to understand. There's a right and a wrong. It's a universal moral law. It's called general revelation. That's why we have a conscience. When you're born, you have a conscience. That's why funny is my kids got a little older, you know, when they're young, they didn't know anything. And after a while, they start realizing, wait a minute, got in trouble there. You know, I have to, I have to get away from that. So it wasn't my fault. They make excuses. You see all that in Genesis chapter three. What happened when Adam fell? Why? We have a conscience. It's a universal moral law that we understand there's something that's not right with us. Why do you think there's so many religions? Everybody knows there's something not right. How do we make it right? How do we get right? Then the scriptures, which is called special revelation, God's word's given to us, and it lets us know what sin is or what it is not. Sin is exactly proud, independent rebellion against God in an active or passive form. An active form means actions we commit. A passive form is our attitudes and our thought life. Isn't that good? Think about it. We have active sins and passive sins. Now here you go, real quickly, for the sake of time, I'll just quickly mention this to you. Coming into uh, I believe it is in Isaiah chapter, oh my gosh, I think it's 53. Isaiah 53. I believe it is. If it's not, forgive me, you'll know what I'm talking about. Says, he was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace was upon him, and by his stripes we were what? We were healed. We were he was wounded for our what? Transgressions. Think about it. What's a wound when the blood transgresses through the skin? Well, why do we need that blood when we transgress the law? When the law says don't lie, we lie. We need the blood for the transgressions. He was wounded for when we transgressed the law and the blood transgressed the skin. He was bruised for our iniquity. What is an iniquity? Iniquity is what's in us, our thoughts, our minds, our hearts. Well, what is a bruise? Blood underneath the skin. And that's so good. Think about what G. So when they punched him, God says, I'm even allowing the blood. My goodness, I feel the Holy Ghost in. I'm sorry, y'all. I mean, think about how God said, I'm allowing to be punched for you, then the blood would come to the skin. It didn't transgress it, but it's in there. That means he even washed you for the things you thought about doing. The things that are in your heart that shouldn't be there, he can wash them before you transgress. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for your willingness to show us that. So actively, his blood, he was wounded for the actions we commit, but then he was bruised for the passive things that are in us, things in our hearts and our minds. God, have y'all ever asked God for the bruised blood of Christ? We only use the blood when we, oh, I cussed somebody out, I did this, I did that, something I did. What about the stuff that you know is in your heart and say, Lord, I thank you that you were bruised for my iniquities. What's within me, God, cleanse me before it even comes to the surface. Thank you, Lord. That's available to us. That's what Jesus did. And so therefore, the scripture lets us know there are active sins, and that's in 1 John 3, 4, 1 John 5, 17, and then James 4.17, it talks about the passive sins that we have. And 1 John 1, uh, chapter 1, verse number 8. Let's go there. 1 John chapter 1, verse number 8 says, if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. All of us have sinned. So, how could Jesus have died for everybody's sins? That's the question we have to ask. How could Jesus have died for everyone's sins? And we just read it. Jesus could die because he is God. He has set the standard, and he's the only one that could fulfill it. Romans, let's go back to Romans 3 real quickly. Romans 3, verse 23. And it says here, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by his grace. Justified, here you go. Just as if I'd never sinned. When you're justified, it means you're just as if I'd never sinned. Did you catch it? That's what it is. So when God justifies you, it's just as if I'd never sinned. Hallelujah. This is what he says here: being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Jesus Christ. Yes, Romans 5, 1. That's the scripture I just quoted to you. And look at what it says here. Therefore, having been justified by faith, faith in what? Faith in Jesus Christ. We now have peace. Why? Remember, we read earlier in Romans 5, a little bit further down in this chapter, that when we were before we came to Christ, we were enemies. Well, when you don't have, when you're at war, what do you have? When you're not at war, you have peace. Therefore, we're no longer at war with God because of Jesus Christ. We now have peace because of Jesus Christ. Amen. This shows, let me also go to Ephesians chapter number two. Ephesians chapter two, verse number eight and nine. Now look at this here. For by grace you have been saved, through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. These are the two scriptures how that Jesus paid for everyone's sins and that you're not responsible for your well, you'll be responsible for him if you don't accept him. And that's why people go to hell. People go to hell because somebody's got to pay for the sins. Either you can put it on Jesus' credit account, or you can go eternally and put it on your own account and work it off for eternity, which means there's no end. So receive Christ while there's time. This shows the holiness and high standard of God and the price that had to be paid for for our sins. God is not a low God, but a high God of a God of high standards that no one can reach except humble faith in Jesus Christ. Okay? Let's keep on moving forward here. Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures. Let's take a look at this. I got to move a little quicker here. 2 Timothy 3.16 says that all scripture is given by inspiration. The word there is theonustos, which means God breathed. So the question we have to ask: is the Bible inspired by God? And why is the Bible supposed to be superior to other books? Because it says in 2 Timothy 3.16 that all scripture is given by theonustos, which means theo means God, neustos means breathed. So it's a God-breathed word. That's the reason why, how many of y'all have ever been in a sermon and feel like the preacher's talking directly to you? Because it's God breathed. God can share one sermon and speak to thousands of people, millions of people, because he can apply it however he sees it, because it's God breathed. That's so good. If the scriptures are not inspired by God, then everything we believe about Christ is in vain. So what kind of proof can Christians offer for the Bible's inspiration and its accuracy? Very good question that we have to ask ourselves. Let's take a look here in uh chapter one in our book and page 28. The Old Testament contains, now look at this. Now I want you to catch this. If you're highlighting in your book, this will really be a blessing to you. Genesis, I'm sorry, Genesis. Uh uh, chapter one in the book, page 28. And uh and about around about the uh the quarterway through the first paragraph. I'm gonna start reading here. Listen to these statistics. The Old Testament contains over 300 references to the Messiah that were fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Computations using the science of probability on just Eight, not three hundred, eight of the three hundred is in ten to the seventeenth power. What does that mean? One in one hundred quadrillion. That's the chances that eight of those could be fulfilled in one man. Three hundred of them were fulfilled in the Old Testament. Now look at this. As for scientific evidence, archaeologists have proved again and again the accuracy of the scripture counts. The names of the peoples, places, and dates have all been verified. Nelson Gluek, an eminent Jewish archaeologist, has categorically stated that no archaeological discovery has ever controverted a biblical reference. William F. Albright, recognized as one of the greatest archaeologists, testified that there is no doubt that archaeology has confirmed the substantial hystericity of Old Testament tradition. Another piece of evidence for the Bible's inspiration is its unity. Now look at this. The Bible was written by 40 authors over a period of 1,600 years. Most of these writers never knew each other. When J.B. Phillips began working on his New Testament in modern English, he was not predisposed to regard the Bible as verbally inspired, that the very words were God breed. But as the word progressed, Phillips was increasingly impressed and amazed at the unity that existed throughout the books to the Bible. He said in their different ways and from their different angles, these writers were all talking about the same thing, talking with a certainty as to bring a wonderful envy into the modern heart. 400 years, 16 different authors, and look at that. I'm sorry, 40 different authors over 1600 years. 1600 years, 400 different authors, no contradiction. How is that possible? The nustos, God breathed. Hallelujah. So how is the canon formed? A couple of things here we want to look at. Apostolic authorship. Now we're not going to spend a whole lot of time. You can actually do a full class on this, but we're not going to just give you a brief overview of this. You have to be experienced, you have to have had experience Christ in a unique way in order to be an author. That's what apostolic authorship. How are these guys considered apostles in regards to forming the canon? You had to have experienced Christ in a unique way in order to be considered for the New Testament canon. Number two, Jesus gave validation to the authority of scriptures in John 10, 35. He also spoke of what must be done for the scriptures to be fulfilled in Luke 18, 31 and Matthew 26, 54. And then Psalm 119. Throughout history, attack has come upon the Bible. But as the writer says, your word is eternal and it's firm, stands firm in the heavens. Hallelujah. That is so good. So is biblical Christianity correct? That's the question we have to ask. Why is Christendom so splintered? And we're almost done here. I'm going to read this, and then after that, uh page 31 and 32. The book is phenomenal, y'all. Take some time and really read through it. It's some reading, it's homework that you can do on your own. We're not going to quiz you on that, but it's something you want to get the most out of this class. Read it. Why is Christendom so splintered? It comes through a period of years, hundreds of years, of how we've gotten to where we are today. We have we went from the apostles that were they're all one to where now we've got denominations. What are they, Dr. Martin Luther King said that Sunday morning is the most segregated hour of the day? So it's it's a time where everybody's so differentiated between these 12 things. Why? We got to get back to the plumb line. Look here. In the first century, Christ Apostle founded the church, which spread quickly from Jerusalem after the dispersion where the Jews were through persecution, where they were, that's why God allowed the attack to hit the persecution hit, was to get the gospel out to be able to do that. Okay. It spread quickly from Jerusalem out onto the entire Mediterranean world, despite persecution from the Jews who did not accept Christ and the Messiah and the Roman government. So those are the two people that attacked the modern church at that time and caused it to begin to spread. And the Roman government, which branded Christians outlaws, because they insisted that Jesus, not Caesar, was the Lord. So notice there was a battle way back then. Do you notice that? Between church and state. There was a problem even way back then. And the reason why, I don't know, I can spend a lot of time on this, is because when you do a study, we'll come back for another class later when I talk about the end times. What will the Antichrist come as? He will come as a spiritual leader and he will come as a political leader. He'll be the first person in history to be able to marry the two together. You'll learn about that in another class later on. Many Christians were martyred, but their blood became the seed that spread the church even more. As the church grew, however, an even greater threat came from within its ranks in the form of heresy, particularly Gnosticism, which threatened to corrupt and twist the gospel into just another pagan religion or philosophy. But the church fought off this threat as well, particularly through the work of men called apologists, which is what you're kind of getting here. That's what you call apologetic studies. Men that studied the scripture, what originally meant, and how it was true, and how uh what people are bringing are false. This is why I can't tell you how important it is that you're taking this type of class, because you'll be able to take the Bible and say, this is why the plum line says this. I can show you in the scripture and why that isn't true. And remember something, something that we have that other people do not is that we have the power of the Holy Spirit to be able to work through the scriptures for us. Okay? Christianity soon became the denominant religion of the Roman Empire and eventually the church, including the five patriarchates, four in the East, Constantinople, Jerusalem, Alexandria, and Caesarea, and Rome in the West. Distance, different languages and culture, and conflicting theological opinions were all reasons for serious disagreement between the East and the West. But the chief cause of division was a continuing insistence by the church at Rome on supreme power and authority over all Christiandom. So there's this battle between the church and state. The rift came to a head in 1054 when a major split created the Roman Catholic Church in the West and the Orthodox Church in the East. After the split, the Roman Catholic Church gained even more power and continued to add doctrines found in the scripture. In addition, the Roman Church became more and more corrupt, which finally led to the Protestant Reformation, started by a Catholic monk named Martin Luther. In the beginning, Luther intended to reform the Roman Church by making the Bible the only authority but church, which is the 95th thesis. When you read about that, that's a whole other story there that you could learn about later on. But what he did is he took 95 points as to why what the Roman Catholic Church was incorrect to the Bible as we know it. Okay, but church leaders, particularly the Pope, rejected his views and was forced out. The Reformation spread throughout Europe, and those who protested against the teaching of Rome came to be recognized as a new form of Christianity called Protestant. So that's why uh Martin Luther was called the Protestant Reformer, or it's called the Protestant Reformation, where the Greek Orthodox split with the Roman Catholic Church. We have three major areas now. We have what's called Protestant. When you go to the hospital, they say, are you Catholic or are you Protestant? That's usually what they would ask back in the day. I don't know if they still do that. I don't go to the hospital very often. But you have the Protestant, you have Orthodoxy, and then you have Catholicism. Those are the main three things that we're going to be looking at. And those two that we're going to be looking at in the future is women. That boy's pretty good right there. I tell you what, that's a pretty good preacher right there, if I have to say so myself. I have to take up my own offering for him. Uh, but I hope that you're blessed by that. Um, and that's basically the introduction to comparative religions. And if you heard there towards the end, there are three major sects of religion that happened at that time. You had Orthodoxy, um, you had Protestant, and then you have Catholicism. So uh if you decide to take the class, we're gonna be going into Orthodoxy. And actually, this Saturday, we're gonna be taking a look at the Roman Catholic Church and the differences between Christianity and Roman Catholicism and how they compare and contrast. Um, a lot of people always want to know are Catholics saved? What do I feel about that? What does the Bible say? Uh da-da-da-da-da. Hey, I'm not gonna give you an answer. I already have that, but you have to come to the class this Saturday at nine o'clock. Nine o'clock, we're having week two of comparative religions. You can sign up.
