Speaker 1:

Here's another episode of Lacey's Line Up, your NFL Go To Sports Podcast. Week 7 is in the books and your girls' stress level was really low because her cowboys were on the bi-week. There were some big wins, some surprising wins and some major upsets. So let's not waste any more time and dive into Week 7 of the NFL. Kickoff to. The recap starts right now. Welcome back to Lacey's Line Up.

Speaker 1:

I'm excited to get going today and talk about everything that went down in the NFL in Week 7. Before I get started, I wanted to say again that, along with my audio track, I have started a YouTube channel and I will be updating that daily with new videos of exciting or breaking news that happens. So if you haven't checked it out, search Lacey's Line Up on YouTube and make sure you subscribe to the channel. It would be greatly appreciated and I'm excited to keep growing this podcast. So let's start with first a surprising win Bears over the Raiders. The Raiders were without Jimmy G, who still injured. They had Brian Hoyer play 17 for 32, 129 yards, two interceptions and no touchdowns. Josh Jacob only gets 11 carries, 35 yards and a growing frustrated Devonte Adams seven receptions and 57 yards.

Speaker 2:

Let's listen to what Devonte Adams had to say after the game Devonte is something that you bear, as you're doing the best of playing you guys. No, I mean not to discredit anything that they did, because I feel like they played a pretty solid game called Brown, but they definitely had nothing to do with any crazy things that they did. This is more of a certain ourselves. They got a Brian today starting the quarterback. I mean, we just got to mix it up a little bit.

Speaker 3:

I just think it's just about keeping the kids on this and making it a little easier.

Speaker 2:

The moment before the guy came, we got to do it as wide as we got to get them running, go on and get all these things that we've been struggling with all year, making it tough on the quarterback. I mean, if we could run a little better, I think that it would help.

Speaker 3:

I'm always. As long as I'm here, I'm going to have confidence and do what I've got to do, do my part to make sure that I'm helping the guys around me and we don't work together to trap you.

Speaker 1:

So that was Devonte Adams. After the loss to the Bears, you can tell in his voice that he's very frustrated. He's vocalized that he's frustrated. I mean he's a future Hall of Famer. He's not getting any younger. He came from a winning package with Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay. I think ultimately he chose the Raiders because he wanted to play with Derek Carr again and we all know that what the Raiders ended up doing to Derek Carr. But he doesn't have a solid quarterback to get him the ball. He doesn't see a future with the Raiders and I think his frustration is growing.

Speaker 1:

I commend him for being a team player. He's going to give it his all. He's not going to be one of those teammates that you know stops trying because he's a competitor. He wants to win, but you can tell he is ready to be traded to a winning organization or somewhere where he feels more valuable to the team. It's frustrating to watch and I love Devonte Adams, so I can see why he is so frustrated. Josh McDaniels, they're calling for him to be fired. He isn't supporting the team. He's not making good adjustments. They I know they're struggling with trying to find a quarterback to help them in these moments. But outside of Devonte Adams and you can say Josh Jacobs and Max Crosby. Those are the only three and you can't win a football game with just three all the time.

Speaker 1:

But this loss, I was shocked. No credit away from the Bears. I thought they had an outstanding performance and it seems to be turning around a little bit in Chicago. But what do you guys think? Do you think Devonte Adams should be traded? Do you think he just needs to suck it up and get through this season? I just know he wants to win and he knows that's not going to happen with the Raiders. But on the other side, the Bears were also without their quarterback, justin Fields, who's out with a thumb injury, and rookie young quarterback Tyson Badgent started and played a great game. I mean, he didn't do anything spectacular 21 for 29, 162 yards and one touchdown but he didn't turn the ball over, he took care of the ball. Deonta Foreman is who had the game of all games 16 carries, 89 yards, two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown. So he definitely was the big factor in that game. But real quick, let's just hear from Tyson right after the game.

Speaker 2:

Definitely had nerves today. I appreciate coach looking out for me Not so much so that I might have needed that, but that's just one example of everybody that's been looking out for me this week. I have in my back and obviously I could not appreciate that anymore.

Speaker 1:

You can tell in that interview that he was definitely nervous. I think he was excited First start and he gets a win over a Raiders team who are definitely more seasoned. So congrats to Tyson and the Bears. I know that that's not there's no pressure of him taking Justin Fields' place, but I'm happy that he was able to step in and the Bears seem to be trending in the right direction. But, as we can tell from week to week, it's any given Sunday, so we'll see what the future holds for the Bears and the Raiders.

Speaker 1:

Now moving on to another game that I actually thought was going to be a lot closer, because the Chargers, to me, are a really good team. They lost Mike Williams, which hurt them, but they have a lot of key pieces Austin Eckler, keenan Allen an up and coming Palmer and Justin Herbert, who I think is a very underrated quarterback because he is a dual threat. He can run for his size, he's physical and he can throw any deep ball, anything you want him to do. So I was really expecting for this to be a much closer game, but the Chiefs overtook the Chargers at home 31 to 17. Herbert went 17 for 30, 259 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, which were big interceptions. Eckler was non-existent. He was on my fantasy team and normally he does a pretty good job and I don't know what's happening If it's coming back from his injury, if it's his age catching up with him, but he just isn't performing at the level that we're used to seeing him. And when they don't have the run game, I think that's what's hurting the Chargers. Keenan Allen only had four receptions 55 yards and Palmer I mean he led with five receptions for 133 yards. On the flip side, you had Taylor Swift in the house and when she's there, like I told you guys before in the podcast, I don't like it as a football fan because they're now showing her and Brittany Mahomes up doing handshakes and they're showing them in the box more than the football field. As a Kansas City cheese fan, that has to be frustrating at times because you almost miss plays because they're worried about zooming in on her. But it's working.

Speaker 1:

For Travis Kelsey, his numbers have definitely gotten better, so he must be showing off for his girl. Let's start with Patrick Mahomes, though. 32 of 42, 424 yards, four touchdowns, and he did have one interception. That is goat numbers. I mean this guy is unbelievable. He is so fun to watch. He doesn't even have a lot of weapons around him, like if Kelsey goes down they don't have a lot. I know they brought back McColl Hardman which was like kind of ignited them yesterday. I think they welcomed him home and he was happy to be there so we can see if he becomes even more of a factor in the coming days.

Speaker 1:

But Patrick Mahomes is just in a league of his own. I mean 424 passing yards, like that is crazy. Pacheco just had 13 carries, 32 yards, but Travis Kelsey 12 receptions, 179 yards and one touchdown. I know he still is battling an injury. So we need to keep up and see how that is a factor coming into the following weeks because, like I said, if Patrick Mahomes doesn't play like they're like a package deal Without Kelsey, I think it gets a whole lot harder on Patrick Mahomes, not to say that he can't do it, but it is harder when he doesn't have Travis Kelsey running his crazy routes and I mean he's literally impossible to cover. So I think he helps pad Patrick Mahomes' numbers. That's here with Mahomes had to say about Travis Kelsey after the win.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I mean it's a lot of things, I think, but I think the main thing is the way he's able to recognize coverage and adjust on the fly. We always talk about it, but it's something that you can't take for granted. I mean, it's like it's like almost like he's playing mad and like you can read the coverage and stop in the windows and Be open and be on the same page as me at all times, and so he did a great job, man. I think he does it weekend, a week out, and that's why. That's why he's the player that he is and he'll be a Hall of Fame one day.

Speaker 1:

There you have it, mahomes giving praise to Kelsey. I think Mahomes knows not not taking anything away from Mahomes, but Kelsey definitely helps Mahomes. It's just fun to watch them play. Like I said, we'll see how Travis Kelsey's Injury and see if it's lagging, if it is gonna be effective or if he I mean he plays through a lot. He's a really tough player. So I know they have a bye week coming up shortly and I'm sure that he will continue to rock and roll, but we'll see if this duo can do a repeat of the Super Bowl. They're definitely trending that way. They've only lost opening week on a Thursday night to the Detroit Lions, so We'll see what happens with them. They got the support. I mean, they know how to get there, they know what it takes and I think they're gonna give it their all. And now they got the Swifties behind them too. So their fan base grew by a lot. So they have all the momentum going into the second half of NFL and hopefully, well, they're gonna try to make this run again. So we'll see. Never count Mahomes out, that's for sure.

Speaker 1:

All right, moving on to a game that Probably shocked the NFL world, and I'm sure Las Vegas lost a lot of money on this game. But let's talk about the bills Patriots game. Did anybody think that the Patriots were gonna come out and win Against the bills on Sunday? I know I didn't. This is what I talk about. They're another team that's hot and cold. You never know what you're gonna get with them.

Speaker 1:

Josh Allen he can be his own worst enemy. You know what he tries to do too much and it just started off bad from the beginning. I mean his first throw was an interception. I mean they Patriots got the ball first and they went down and kicked a field goal. So it was only three, nothing. But first, play, play, action. He throws an interception and they get the ball back, which ultimately led to a score. So they were already down 10, nothing, and I think it just set the tone. It just put them into panic mode and they couldn't quite find a rhythm. The entire game Josh Allen had he went 27 for 41 265 yards, two touchdowns, one interception.

Speaker 1:

James Cook had a big day. He was in the passing game and the running game. He had 13 carries for 56 yards. Stefan Diggs was pretty quiet. He did get his one touchdown but he only had six receptions for 58 yards. So just all around, nobody really stood out. Josh Allen thought he needed to take the team on his back and win it for him, and when he does that it can go either way, and on Sunday it definitely did not go the way that they had hoped for. On the other side, mac johns is back. He went 25 for 30, 272 yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions, so he's definitely taking care of the ball. Zeke Elliott Is coming alive. They're starting to give him more of a workload and he had 11 carries, only 31 yards, but he did get a touchdown and born six reception, 63 yards in a touchdown.

Speaker 1:

So their run game, I think, is kind of what did it? They were able to run the ball really well against the bill's defense. When they weren't running, they were doing a lot of play, action, passes and they were just marching up and down the field. It didn't do anything spectacular, nothing that stood out. They were just Kind of distributing the ball the right way and kept the bill's defense on their feet and they couldn't figure out how to stop them. So great job, the patriots and their game plan going in and the team executing it the way they did. It was impressive.

Speaker 1:

I don't know. I know it was getting very scary for the patriot fans. They've been my worst for a couple of weeks now and I really did not expect this week to be any better for them. But Beating the bills is probably like a big turning moment, especially the fans enjoy. Enjoy that win for as long as you can, but hopefully you can change that momentum To end with this game, though. Josh Allen had a little bit to say after the game, so let's listen in to what he said.

Speaker 3:

Execution and I start off play. One Guy makes a good play, falls off on the on the bow route. I need to see him there. Um, yeah, you know it's not a not a good way to start a game. Well, I wish I knew the exact answer, because we'd we'd have it fixed by now. So, um, I'm gonna watch this film and find a way to To get there. Whatever it is, um, you know our season is not over. It's a long season. You know it feels pretty bleak right now, but, um, you know we're we're gonna figure it out, you all right.

Speaker 1:

A very somber Josh Allen, you can tell he's upset, he can tell that he wants to figure it out, just like I was talking about Patrick Mahomes. He's a competitor too and I do think he's a future Hall of Famer. He is an amazing quarterback. He just needs to reel it back in a little bit. He needs to stop overdoing it. We talked about it. When he does that and he trust the team around him, then they tend to be successful and he doesn't have to take all that pressure on. I know there's added pressure for quarterbacks, but he doesn't have to go win the games every single time, especially in the first and second quarters. He's just really overdoing too much and that's costing him turnovers and bad decision makings and he just kind of panics. Uh, you know we talk about Dak Prescott panicking a lot, which, yes, he is probably the king of panics, but Josh Allen does. When he's in a hole he wants to get there. They're a team that wants to put up a lot of points on the board and when they're not doing that it turns into kind of chaotic and they can't ever figure out a way to get themselves back into the ball game. Even though it was close, it was 29 25, but that score, I feel like was not the same game that we were watching. I felt like the Patriots were In control of this game the entire time. They didn't get rattled, which would have never been guessed going on the pitch, which would have never been guessed going into this game. I would have thought it would have been complete opposite. Do I count the bills out now? No, but the bills have failed us a lot. Right, they have a, you know they go up real high and we're like man, no one's going to touch the bills, like it'll be impossible. And then they always flat line when it matters most, in the post season. So they got to figure their self out. I know they Josh Allen, like you heard him say he's going to go back and they will get it figured out. It's a long season, you know. We're just slowly next week, approaching the halfway point, so there's still plenty of time for them to do it. But they got to start looking in the mirror. They need to stop barking at each other. I know Stefan Diggs can get Really heated on the sideline if he's not involved as much as he wants to be. But to Josh Allen's point, a guy like that needs to be involved more. But sometimes the other guys need to step up. They're always going to double team Stefan Diggs, so someone's going to be open. So they need to start creating better routes with uh, stefan Diggs or the other receivers, like even those slot passes, and start moving down the field and creating shorter fields for them and not going after the long ball or the pretty ball every single time, because Sometimes you win those, sometimes you lose those, so it's always a 50-50 shot when you want to play a long ball type game. So We'll see. Bills need to go soul searching, figure out what they need to do. But congrats to the patriots. They definitely Did what they were supposed to do and they beat a really good team. So they need to build on that moving forward. But bill's patriots 29, 25 patriots take it. Shocker is all I can say.

Speaker 1:

Sunday night football. This was said to possibly be a preview of this year's Super Bowl game where the eagles took on the Doffins on Sunday night. This was the battle of the Alabama former teammates to mvp talked quarterbacks, both offensively Driven, and we thought it was going to be a really good game. There were moments where it was, but doffins, I feel like are just were too banged up. I know the eagles had some, but not near as much as the Doffins had. I mean they were out. Waddle was going in and out. He was trying to be there but he wasn't 100 percent. Um, he was battling stuff. We had two defenders who were already like a depleted defense and we've already questioned the doffins defense because the offense, I think, has been bailing them out for so long this season. But defense running into each other, both collided. One went into concussion protocol, the other one and did eventually come back into the game but I think he was rattled and wasn't the same when he came back in. So it was. It was unfortunate. I mean they didn't have xavier howard you know they're still out jay ramsey, so they just they're missing a lot of key components. So I have to give them credit that they were even in this game when they were depleted.

Speaker 1:

I would I always wish that teams could play each other, especially big matchups, when they were at full health. It's not possible in the nfl just because of how big of a contact sport this is. But it was definitely lopsided on the health From the eagles to the doffins and the doffins. It showed that they were spread thin, they were injury prone and they could not get things going. I mean, tua had 23 for 32 216 yards, one touchdown, one interception. Most dirt was non-existent. They're definitely missing a chan and his penalty Igniting the run game because he's an explosive running back.

Speaker 1:

Most start just really hasn't been that for them. This year he only had nine carries for 45 yards. Tyree kill still I think he's the Frontrunner for MVP as a non quarterback. I just that guy. He's just fun to watch. You know when he gets the ball and I know he's the cheetah, but that guy I mean he can just slip in and out, he turns on the jets when he needs to and one time it caught up to him they should have had a touchdown and he was running before he secured the ball and it bounced off his leg and Ultimately ended in a field goal. He had 11 receptions, 88 yards and one touchdown and, like I said, waddle came in and did some, but he wasn't a factor. So all they had to do was shut down Tyree kill, which is a hard task to do, but they were able to contain him for the most part. It just as a cowboy's fan, this is the one game that I wanted.

Speaker 1:

I really wanted the Eagles to drop this and us come in with being able to tie their record with them before we face them in two weeks. But but the Eagles show that they bounce back after a Disappointing lost last week and they took on a team that is a Super Bowl contender and they controlled this game. I mean 31 17. It was tied at 1.17 17 and you know Eagles didn't have a demanding like.

Speaker 1:

Jalen Hertz Didn't do anything. He was 23 for 31 279. I shouldn't say he didn't do anything, but he had one interception that was crucial. Right after that. Tyree kill Drop in the end zone where they only got the field goal. He was able to they. He threw the interception, which was a pick six which kind of brought the dolphins back to life and let them stay in this game.

Speaker 1:

But Deandre swift 15 Carries for 62 yards, no touchdowns. Aj Brown did a good job. He had 10 receptions for 137 yards and one touchdown. I mean that guy, he is fun to watch. I I will say adding him to that roster Really changed their level of play, so that was an amazing pickup. Julio Jones first night I know they were just kind of getting him acclimated with a team he only had one reception for three yards, but We'll see if he becomes a factor in the coming days.

Speaker 1:

But they're rolling. I mean now, with the Lions dropping and the 49ers dropping, I mean now they're the best record in the NFL, or tied with the Kansas City Chief. So Eagles need a falter. The Cowboys will play them in two weeks. I do think we're a better matchup with them than, say, the Cowboys were with the 49ers, just because we play them so much. So we know each other. We usually still at least one I'm hoping we still both but Eagles are clicking.

Speaker 1:

I Do wish, though, stephen A Smith and I if you're following the podcast, I'm sure you guys know Stephen A Smith. He's a big time commentator for the NFL and he's very outspoken on how much he hates the Cowboys, although I will say he loves to talk about the Cowboys. I don't think he would have a show if it wasn't for the Cowboys. People love to hate him and I think that's what he likes to see. But Come on, dude, Like you guys need to start with Brock Purdy and Jalen Hertz.

Speaker 1:

They're throwing interceptions. I mean, I know Brock Purdy usually takes care of the ball, but he's had, you know, two interceptions this past week and an interception the week before, and Jalen Hertz, I think, is leading with the most interceptions. He's averaging one to two a game. We need to start putting them on blast. I know Dak Prescott needs to man up and do a lot of things better, but they should be getting as much scrutiny as Dak Prescott. And it's like when I watch the shows in the morning, you guys are very somber talking about the. Oh, they'll figure it out, they're okay. Like, put them on blast, like you do my quarterback, dak Prescott. I Just don't understand that. Like, be fair, put it all around. So, stephen A, if you're listening, you need to be more fair and talk about all quarterbacks, especially the ones that have worse stats than Dak Prescott, and start giving him credit when he does have a good game. But let's listen in to Jalen Hertz on his thoughts for the win over the Dauphins.

Speaker 5:

I feel fine, I'm happy and how we responded, especially coming off of last week. There's a great opportunity, a great team out there, a lot of respect for them as a team and you know, I think we played, um, I think we play really good. Compliment, complimentary. Football has some Negative plays. Obviously, with the fumble by me can have that and I must be living bad with the other one, the tip ball. But um, them's just happy how we play together, happy how we preserve here and we are, we find ways to respond and Really did a good job in the fourth.

Speaker 1:

So there you go, a humbled Jalen Hertz staying focused, which is good. He's not looking ahead. He's proud of his team winning, but he knows there's still a lot of work to be done. So we'll see if this is the Super Bowl Matchup this year. Hopefully not. Hopefully it is other teams. I don't want to see the Eagles back in it. Well, we'll see if this matchup is a little bit different, if they get to play each other again now.

Speaker 1:

Another surprising upset is comes from the game on Sunday lions and Ravens. I have been raving. That's funny I say they raving but I have been really promoting the lions as not being talked about enough. They were tied with the best record in the NFL. People weren't giving them enough recognition. What they were doing was special. I really thought at one point the NFC might have to go through. You know all routes lead to Detroit getting the home field advantage. But maybe I should use this to my advantage. Every time I talk really good about a team, they tend to mess up Fall in the following week. So maybe I can use that to my advantage and maybe start promoting some teams that I really need to lose for the next week. But Not, I'm just saying it's just funny because lions have been. They were my best last week. I really thought I was calling people out for not giving them enough credit, but, man, were they a mess on Sunday.

Speaker 1:

Not to take anything from the Ravens, lamar Jackson is a problem for a lot of Defenses, not only before. He only had his legs and he was running a lot and his accuracy with his throw was not very good. But the boy has learned how to throw. I mean it's still not the perfect accuracy that you see with other quarterbacks, but he is becoming a double threat and he is running and throwing and he was 21 for 27 357 yards in the air. Like that's impressive. I mean he's definitely earning the money that they paid him and showing why it was a good move to make sure that he did not leave Baltimore. His stats have been very, very impressive. If they play like they did on Sunday, the Ravens could be a real threat to a lot of teams and maybe unstoppable. But that's the thing with football, right, you never know. They've dropped like they lost to the Colts. They've looked spotty at times, but everything was clicking.

Speaker 1:

Maybe not Odell Beckham. I think we had a lot of high hopes for him and he's yet to really get going. He's already had a couple of injuries. So I'm not sure if that was the right move, if they had, like a better receiver. But Zay flowers, I mean, who is this guy? He's killing it. In fantasy points. He's becoming Lamar Jackson's favorite receiver. He is doing amazing things in Baltimore right now.

Speaker 1:

But Edwards also. He had 14 carries, 64 yards in a touchdown and also a receiving catch that he had for 80 yards. I mean Edwards is doing great things and, like I said, zay flowers for receptions and 75 yards. They are the real deal. I mean, ravens are trending in the right direction. They're proving that they are back. People aren't talking about them. So, like I said, we'll see, because now I'm talking about them and giving them all their credit, so we'll see if that hurts them next week. If so, then I really am going to start promoting teams that I need to lose the next week. But Ravens are killing it.

Speaker 1:

Lamar Jackson learning how to throw and you know what I mean by that like not saying he didn't know how to throw before, but his accuracy was way off and he always went to run, even though he's unstoppable in the run too. But they were more worried about covering the run and he was never looking to throw. Now he's doing both, which creates a huge, huge problem for the defenses, for sure. I mean, how do you defend a guy like that? I don't know. But they went in. They're like Lions who golf was held to 33 for 53, 284 yards one interception St Brown, was their only other one you could talk about for 13 receptions, 102 yards. They're hurting without Montgomery. I will give them that. I mean Montgomery was their kind of spark to get them going on the run game, which opened up a lot of things for them. So they'll be happy to get him back as soon as possible.

Speaker 1:

But this was never a game. I mean, it's one of those where you don't even like want to watch anymore because it's boring. I mean the Ravens except for the Ravens, they were having a blast, and taking your quarterback out because you have a big lead is always a good day for that team. But Lions, man, did they falter? I just think they're gonna hurt until Montgomery comes back or they can get somebody that steps up like a Montgomery that can open up their run game again, because right now they just don't have it and you're asking golf to do too much right now. But aren't you guys shocked? I mean that was insane. I did not think I wasn't saying the Lions were gonna, but they had. I mean, they beat the Chiefs. They've been rocking and rolling. I was not expecting it to be a complete blow-up. They didn't even get a touchdown. They did not get a touchdown. Two field goals is all the Ravens allowed the Lions to score on Sunday. This is another one that I feel like. Vegas might've not lost as much as the Patriots and Bills, but they probably lost on this one too, with the point spread, because no one would have predicted the points to be as far out as they were. But Jackson's the real deal. He's rocking and rolling and he gave Lions another loss and he let them know that they are not the best team in the NFL and that the Ravens are coming for you. So it'll be interesting to see if the Lions can bounce back and if the Ravens can keep rolling.

Speaker 1:

Now the last game I wanna talk about and I know I've talked about a lot of games, but so much happened in week seven. It's crazy, with all the upsets and the shocking wins and the shocking losses, like it was a lot, guys. It was a lot to digest and I wanted to make sure I covered at least all the games, but there was so many. But can't rule it out. Monday night football 49ers and the Vikings. Now I am shocked with this as well. I thought it was gonna be a lot closer. You know you got Kirk Cousins playing for his life.

Speaker 1:

A lot of doubters are saying that he's done. In Minnesota, for sure they were without Justin Jefferson, which is a big key to their component, and the 49ers were really banged up Last week. They lost Debo, who's gonna be out for a couple of weeks. They lost Trent Williams, which is a really big front I mean future Hall of Famer there. And they had Christian McCaffrey who was a game time decision and we didn't even know if he was gonna be put out there just as a decoy to make them think that he was gonna get a lot.

Speaker 1:

I was shocked when I saw now he looked okay but still battling that. I was shocked that they gave him the same amount of workload that he gets in the past because they give him a lot. So I thought at least he would be maybe on a snap count or limited carries, but I guess because they had dug themselves a hall and it became a lot closer game. They had to keep him involved in every aspect of it. I think he was out there for the entire offensive snaps, like every single time. But he did well. He had 15 carries for 45 yards, one touchdown and one receiving touchdown. So he definitely still had his tiller game. I mean it's crazy. I think he's had consecutive touchdowns and it's either 14 or last 16 games. I don't remember how many, but it's a lot. So to have him out there was definitely a benefit for the 49ers and kind of probably a sigh of relief that it wasn't anything major. It didn't matter, it did not help them.

Speaker 1:

Mr Relevant showed that he was human. Yet another game this week. He threw for two interceptions. He was 21 for 30, 272 yards, had one touchdown but two interceptions. He felt pressure all night. All night. You could tell he was rattled. He wasn't his normal composed self and this is just showing you again that he's not handling that pressure when he doesn't have all his weapons around him. I think for the first four weeks, if not five, he was not touched as a quarterback. He just sat back there and was able to wait for either Debo, iu Christian McCaffrey to get open and he had all the time in the world. So, yeah, any quarterback could do that, but he's showing that it is just not. I mean, he hadn't lost any regular season games and now he's lost two in a row.

Speaker 1:

Do I think that they're not gonna bounce back Again? No, they gotta get healthy. It shows that when they went all in with this group and I do think that this is kind of like the year of this whole unit staying together because they're not gonna be able to pay everybody next year, especially if they're gonna have to pay Perdy, if he's their future quarterback, so this is kind of like an all or nothing thing. So if they can get everybody back, like you know, kittle stays healthy, iuk is healthy, trent Williams comes back, then you have Perdy and Debo then I definitely think that they can go on a run, because then they become unstoppable again because they have, you know, everything firing from each cylinder. But if they're injured then they're exposed and that has shown I mean Kirk Cousins to go back, not taking anything away from him, he played a heck of a game. His, in a way, his job is on the line and he knew this was a big win. I think this was a turning point for them because they're going into the bye week now with like a little bit less of a tougher schedule once they come out of that. But this was a must win because they were digging a huge, huge hole and they were without their star player, justin Jefferson. I will say there was some crazy plays, like that last one before halftime when he just threw the ball up because he was coming pressure and it was between I think it was Ward and Addison and they were both juggling and Addison just won that and was able to rip it while Ward was going to the ground and they scored that touchdown which was huge momentum shift. I mean that changed the game and they really never bounced back from there. But Perdy he just it wasn't Perdy, it really really wasn't. He looks a little rattled now, which is the first time we're seeing this, and how he can contain it.

Speaker 1:

Not having Debo is big. They had the pressure coming from the Vikings defense and that's where Debo shines. If you look at the Cowboys, we applied a lot of pressure but we didn't cover the secondary and Debo was wide open in the middle of the field and that's how they moved the ball on us over and over again. Well, they didn't have that guy this week and when the pressure came he couldn't get the ball to their deep ball threats or it wasn't open or he didn't have enough time to do that. He needed this quick slot or slant pass. So Debo, I think, was a huge factor and Trent Williams obviously eliminates a lot of that pressure for Brock Perdy, and not having those two guys was crucial, crucial last night.

Speaker 1:

But the 49ers fall. I mean, there are now two losses under their belt and we'll kind of see. I know they're coming up on a bye week soon, which is good for them, so they can try to get everybody healthy before they come out of that bye week. But I think they have oh, they have the bingles, I believe, this weekend, which Joe Burrow is playing like Joe Burrow again. So that's not gonna be an easy task. Especially, I think Debo was at least two weeks, so I don't see him returning and Trent Williams haven't got a clear update on him. But he was in a boot and I know he's getting of age 35 so he doesn't recover as fast. So this could be another struggle for the 49ers. We'll wait and see what happens with them, but the key to them is going to be the 49er or the players being healthy. If they're gonna make the Super Bowl run this year before they can't pay all their weapons next year.

Speaker 1:

But again, not to take anything away from the Vikings, kurt Cousins came out, played a great game. Madison came in. He only had eight carries, but they were explosive carries when he did get the ball and were big first downs when they needed it. Addison, though man seven receptions, 123 yards, two touchdowns, just killing it. I mean he's an up and comers really coming into his role and I think he's gonna come if they get Jefferson back. And now Addison is playing the way he's playing.

Speaker 1:

You can't count the Vikings out On top of a Hawkinson who Kurt Cousins loves to throw to. I mean he had 11 receptions, 86 yards and he got major first downs, so things were clicking for them. But he's also a little banged up. Addison came out for a little bit. I think the guy fell on his ankle. So it's all about the injuries. Now, right, like we're entering into halfway point. There is a lot of injuries, a lot of fatigue, a lot of wear and tear that are gonna come factors to a lot of these teams moving forward and it's just gonna be who, the ones that can outlast and find ways to win when their teams are injured. So it'll be very interesting to see.

Speaker 1:

But Monday night football man Viking or Vikings win against the 49ers, drops them to five and two. Now Minnesota's trying to get back into the 500s they're three and four. But, like I said, their schedule's about to get a lot easier and they have the bye week to get healthy and hopefully Justin Jefferson will come. But, shocker, I cannot believe that the 49ers dropped that. I really thought they were gonna bounce back. But you have to say it's injuries and also Moody. He needs to get out of whatever mood he's in because these missed field goals are not gonna cut it or you're not gonna have a job when you come back from your bye week.

Speaker 1:

Field goals win. They don't win games if you're doing it, but they can be the deciding factor at the end of the game and you gotta have faith in your kicker and I don't think the 49ers have a lot of faith right now just because of his consecutive two misses. And those are big points. I mean three points when your game was decided by five points is a difference of you having to get a touchdown or a field goal. So crazy game. What a way to end this crazy week of NFL football. But I don't know. I think the biggest shocker was for sure the Lions for me, I think, the Patriots too beating the Bills. I was really hoping the Eagles that was the one I thought could go either way, and I was hoping for the Eagles loss, but they showed the way and then ending with the 49ers dropping to the Vikings. Any given Sunday, guys, or Monday for the 49ers thing, but crazy week of football.

Speaker 1:

I mean so much to talk about. I appreciate you guys tuning in with me and listening to me break down. Let me know your thoughts or anything else you'd like for me to talk about. I'm always open to improving the show or things that you guys want to hear more of. I'm always about it. I'm here to talk about my passion, football, and I would talk about anything with you guys. So I just appreciate you guys continuing to follow me, and I cannot wait to see what week eight holds and talk about it with you guys again. So, before I leave, though, you know I always do my best and worst of the week.

Speaker 1:

So let's start with the worst. Ah, what a. There's so many worst, right? I mean, the 49ers dropping was terrible, but they were injured, so I can't really give it to them. The Patri or the Bills that was a crazy game. I felt like they looked horrible at times. But I think I'm gonna have to give the worst which is hilarious, cause they were my best last week to the Lions. The Lions just really crap. The bed couldn't even get a touchdown on the board. Everything that was working for them stopped working. It looked like a hot mess on the field. The Ravens were just doing whatever they wanted on the run in the air. Just total control of this game. It was never close. They're missing Mount Gummery, for sure, but they gotta figure out a way until they can get him back or they're gonna continue to drop. But do I think the Lions are out? No, they still are in there running and they're still doing well, but they definitely had the worst of week seven, for sure.

Speaker 1:

And on the flip side of that, who is my best God? There was a lot of good games too. I mean you could give it to the Eagles because they beat a Dolphins, but Dolphins were really bad injured, so I don't wanna give them like the full credit. Patriots, I think it was just a survival game. I don't think they did anything that warrants them the best, even though they beat a really good team. But I think I'm gonna have to stick with the same game and do the flip side of the Baltimore Ravens. They were unstoppable. Like I said, lamar Jackson learned how to throw and he can run and he can throw. And they have Zay Flowers, who is unbelievable. If Odell Beckham can ever get going, this Edwards is running the ball extremely well. Defense is like feeling like the old Ravens defense Of the time. They put everything together in this past week and it all worked. There was no struggles whatsoever with this team against a team that was tied for the best overall record in the NFL, and they came delivered, dominated, and that's why they get my best of Week 7.

Speaker 1:

After seven weeks of NFL football, my top five Super Bowl contenders which is fluid, it changes all the time, but after week seven, these are the ones I think are deserving of the top five best chances to get to the Super Bowl. At number five, I have the Jacksonville Jaguars. Yes, I said it, I did, but they came in on Thursday night beat the Saints. Trevor Lawrence is playing like the old Trevor Lawrence. They got Calvin Ridley getting involved. Things are firing in all the all cylinders. They're digging themselves out of the hole and I really think that they are going to make a big push and they're figuring things out. So Jaguars, for me, are gonna take the top five.

Speaker 1:

Number four 49ers they dropped yet another spot for me because now they've lost two in a row. Injuries are a big factor for them. They're struggling, they're becoming exposed. Will they be able to bounce back? Yes, that's why they're still in my top five. But we gotta keep a close watch on these injuries. How Purdy responds if he can play at a higher level when the team is depleted in injuries and where this goes they play bingles this week. So if they lose a third consecutive game, could they fall out of my top five? We shall see Three gotta go to the Eagles.

Speaker 1:

I mean they came in once again. They played a dominant offensive dolphins who are hurting. So I will say I gotta give a little bit. I mean you gotta take what it is right and say that the dolphins are struggling with a lot of injuries. I think if the dolphins would have been fully healthy, it would have been a different outcome of a game. I truly think so. But the Eagles found a way to win on Sunday night and they only have one loss on the season. They're continuing to win, so they're gonna stay at my number three.

Speaker 1:

Two, they have now entered in and not just entered but jumped up to my two-spot, and that's the Baltimore Ravens. I told you why they were my best. But Lamar Jackson, as long as he is throwing accurately and running the same way he always does, they're gonna be a force to be reckoned with and I think they're gonna make a huge run to the Super Bowl. And if they can play like they did on Sunday, ain't nobody stopping them. Number one gotta go with Kansas City Chiefs. They're still only have one loss, and that came in week one to open up the NFL season.

Speaker 1:

And you know Patrick Mahomes still the goat Kelsey. Not only is Kelsey, but now he's Kelsey, taylor Swift's boyfriend, who has made him elevate his game even more, and they are just dominating and they don't even. It's really the Kelsey and Patrick Mahomes show. There's really no one else doing too much. I'm not taken away from Pacheco and other things, but these two are singly-handily winning games by themselves. So if they can get like McColl Hardman coming back in, if the defense can create some turnovers, this team's gonna be back in the Super Bowl again and possibly could win it all for a second year in a row. So that is why they top out at my number one. That's Lacey's top five. It's your favorite part of the episode. It is now Skyler's predictions. Take it away, skyler.

Speaker 6:

This is up. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to Lacey's lineup. It's your boy man, skyler Sheena Sajide, here to give you week eight predictions. Hey, first game of Halloween, week First, thursday night football Bills versus Bucks. I'm going with the Bills by 10. Next Sunday's matchups First, rams versus Cowboys. Cowboys are my team, so I have to go to Cowboys by 12. And now, next matchup Patriots Dolphins Dolphins sadly lost to the Eagles last week, but I'm gonna have to go with them by 14. And next up, chiefs Broncos rivalry, chiefs easily taking this one by 15. And now, second to last game of week eight Sunday night football Bears Chargers. It's weird how Bears are still getting primetime games, but I have to go with the Chargers by 10. And now Monday night football, but technically the Halloween game of week eight Raiders Lions and I have to go with the Lions by four. And that is week eight predictions for you. I will be back next week for week nine predictions Skyler out.
