Making Time for What Matters: The Real Reason You're Always Too Busy
If you constantly feel behind, stretched thin, or like there’s never enough time in the day, this episode is for you. We’re getting honest about what’s really behind your overwhelm—and why making time for what matters has less to do with your calendar and more to do with your clarity and alignment.
As real estate entrepreneurs, business owners, and digital CEOs, it’s easy to get caught in the grind of doing all the things. But busy doesn’t always mean productive. And it certainly doesn’t mean profitable. Making time for what matters requires intention, discipline, and the willingness to let go of what’s no longer serving you.
In this episode, I walk you through the mindset and systems that have helped me and my clients get out of the chaos and into true CEO-level focus. You’ll learn how to lead with purpose, work on what drives results, and finally create space for what actually moves the needle.
Inside this episode, I cover:
- The truth about why you always feel like there’s never enough time
- How making time for what matters creates space for faster, focused growth
- Why real estate entrepreneurship demands that you lead with priorities, not pressure
- How multiple streams of income become possible when you manage your energy well
- What business coaching tips you need to filter out noise and stay aligned
- How to apply wealth building strategies without overworking yourself into burnout
- The role of an entrepreneurial mindset in redefining your relationship with time
Here’s the reality: success isn’t about doing more—it’s about doing what matters most. Making time for what matters helps you lead your day, your business, and your future from a place of strategy, not survival.
So ask yourself: Are you filling your calendar or fulfilling your calling? Are you running your business—or is your business running you?
If you’re ready to take control of your schedule, eliminate distractions, and align your time with your vision, this episode will give you the tools and perspective to make powerful shifts today.
Hit play now and learn how to start making time for what matters—starting now.

Just remember that saying no doesn't make you selfish, it makes you intentional. You are creating space for what matters. And if that means setting boundaries, rescheduling or cutting back, do it. You deserve to prioritize your best life. Welcome back to the Raquel Show, where we talk about real growth, smart strategies, and making moves that matter. I'm your host, Raquel, and today we're diving into one of the biggest challenges so many of us face. Making time for what matters most. I started thinking about this as I traveled last week for a speaking opportunity and I have said no to a few things these last couple of days, including a couple other speaking opportunities. Every day I've been spending time with my mother after work or during a lunch break, and it's interesting because a few months ago. I never had time like this. I was on back to back coaching calls. Yet today I'm able to spend time with my mother. Why? Because we make time for what matters most, and I know my time with her is limited. We live in a world that moves fast between work, between family, personal goals and everything in between, and it's easy to feel stretched thin almost every day. However, when you're forced to make time, guess what? You make it happen no matter what. But here's the thing, if you're not intentionally making time for what matters most life will fill the space for you with distractions, with busy work, with obligations that really don't move the needle. And let's be honest, I can get caught up all day in emails, in Slack, messages, in dms, text messages, and like really in front of my computer and feel like I have done nothing to actually move the business forward. So in today's episode, we're breaking down how do I identify those priorities, how to reclaim your time and how to stay focused on what truly matters. So let's dive right into it. But before we can make time for what matters. I believe that you have to define what your priorities are. I know it sounds simple, but many of us don't take the time to really identify our priorities or what season we're in, so start asking yourself. What are my non-negotiables in life? What are the things that if I neglected them, would leave me completely unfulfilled? For some it's family, for some it's relationship. For others, it might be your health, personal growth, or building something meaningful. In this business, the problem is when you don't clearly define your priorities. Everything feels urgent and everything feels important, and that's how we end up overwhelmed and burnt out. Take a moment right now to write down some of your priorities. Probably pick three, The things that genuinely matter most to you, because once you have clarity, you can start building your schedule around those things instead of cramming them in wherever you can. By the way. I think it's important to know that we live in seasons or in chapters, whatever you wanna call it. There was a season in this past year where I focused on Bryce, his recruiting season, and I traveled with him every single week from spring, all the way till school started, and now I'm playing the Loving Daughter as my mom needs me more than ever, and it isn't easy as there's so much that comes with that yet. I don't see myself doing it any other way. Once you know what truly matters, it's time to protect that space. And one of the most powerful tools that you could do for that is time blocking. Here's how that works. Instead of making a long to-do list that never seems to end, You can dedicate blocks of time for your most important tasks and priorities. Here's how that works. Instead of making a long to-do list that never seems to end, you schedule dedicated blocks of time for your most important task and priorities. I was telling a coaching client that. I had broken out my days into three big time blocks, and I got this from my mentor, ed Millet. He said, you can get so much more done. If you can fit three days into one. And so I said, okay, I wanna take on that challenge.
So day one starts at 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM for me.
Day two starts from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM and day three starts from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM So I try to work in those blocks and. Consider them as a brand new day, If a family is a priority, I want you to block out your evenings for dinner, quality time, or even date nights. And if business growth is a focus for you, why don't you set time aside for uninterrupted hours of deep work each week? A mentor of mine told me that you should treat sleep also as an important meeting with an investor because The key is to treat these time blocks like appointments. You cannot cancel the same way. You wouldn't miss a listing appointment or a meeting with a client or a doctor's appointment. You don't really skip those priority blocks. And here's the trick. Plan your week ahead of time. On Sundays, sit down and map out your priority blocks. When your calendar reflects your real priorities, you stop feeling guilty about saying no to the things that don't align. And here's the truth, bomb. Every time you say yes to something unimportant, you're saying no to something that truly matters. And the more I keep saying no, I'm finding more minutes in my life. Trust me. Learning to say no is a skill, and if you are a people pleaser or someone who thrives on productivity, it is not always easy, but I get it. I hate saying no. I remember I would say yes and think being Super Woman was an answer, and yet I found myself months later, weeks later, just drained or eventually burnt out. But here's the thing, when you protect your time, you can give it your best to the things that really matter. So I want you to try something Before you agree to something new or even a new meeting, new opportunity, ask yourself, does this align with my top priorities? And if it doesn't, I would consider passing it off or delegating it, or just absolutely saying no. Just remember that saying no doesn't make you selfish. It makes you intentional. You are creating space for what matters. And if. That means setting boundaries, rescheduling or cutting back, do it. You deserve to prioritize your best life. And the last piece of the puzzle is streamlining your life. When you look at your day, there are probably tasks you do out of habit, out of obligation, or simply because you haven't questioned them. And it's time to automate, delegate and eliminate. Automate using some of the tools to handle repetitive tasks. Things like bill payments, scheduling, or even meal planning can be simplified today through automation. I want you to delegate. If it doesn't require your unique skills or attention, find a way to delegate it. Get it off your plate. This could mean outsourcing, hiring help or even sharing responsibilities at home. Trust me, I have my kids do certain things that can give me some minutes back. And last but not least is eliminate. This one is tough but necessary. Let go of tasks habits or commitments. that No longer serve your priorities. The goal here is to free up your time, get some minutes back and energy so you can pour into things that matter to you. Alright, so just a quick recap. Number one is clarify your priorities. Identify what matters most so that you can focus your time and energy where it counts. Two is use time blocking schedule, dedicated time for your top priorities and treat those blocks as non-negotiables. Three is learn to say no. Protect your time by saying yes to things that align with your goals. And four is automate, delegate and eliminate. Simplify your life to create more space for what matters. Remember, time is one of those things you will never get back, So it's worth being intentional about where yours goes. Take 30 minutes today to write down your three top priorities. I would challenge you to do this and then block out dedicated time for each priority over the next week. Be intentional. Schedule it like a meeting you can't miss, and if something doesn't fit with your priorities, practicing no. Share your experience with me on social media or drop me a message at it's Raquel q.
