When Growth Feels Heavy: What It Means and What to Do

Raquel Quinet Episode 351

Ever hit a goal and still feel empty? Or grow your business only to feel more drained, overwhelmed, and misaligned? I’ve been there. On today’s episode, I get real about what happens when growth doesn’t feel good — and how to shift that.

Inside this no-fluff episode, I walk you through the 4-part framework I use with my private coaching clients to help them realign, redesign, and grow with clarity, ease, and power:

  • Recognize the resistance
  • Evaluate your season
  • Audit your business model
  • Nurture what fuels you

If you’re building something big but your energy and peace are taking the hit, this episode is your permission to pause, pivot, and grow differently. Growth doesn’t have to cost your sanity. You can scale sustainably — without sacrificing yourself in the process.

We often hear people say more money, more transactions, bigger goals, more success, more growth as if growth always feels exciting, motivating and inspiring. But just what if, what if growth feels heavy or growth feels overwhelming or growth feels misaligned?

If that's you, I want you to know that you are not alone and you are not broken. So today's episode is for the agent or the entrepreneur who's growing, but feels like it's costing them their energy, their freedom, and even their joy or peace. So I want to impact why this happens and what you can do to realign your growth with ease, clarity, and power.

Welcome back to the Raquel show. This is a place where our real estate entrepreneurs come to play bigger in business and in life. And I want to thank you all for being a part of our community. I am so grateful. We have thousands of downloads and we still continue to grow. And I still to this day cannot believe that we have listeners from all over the world. So thank you. And if you are new here, I'm Raquel Quinet. And today we're diving into something that doesn't get talked about enough in our industry and that is when growth feels heavy.

You see, a few years ago, I found myself in a season where revenue was higher than ever, but I felt like I couldn't breathe. had said yes to everything that what I thought looked like growth on the outside. Lots of events that serve so many different types of people, lots of masterminds. For God's sake, I even hired multiple coaches. I think at one point I had six, six coaches in a year.

Of course there was more revenue, there was more offers and there was even more opportunity which came with more collaboration. My calendar was stacked with coaching clients, team calls, partnership calls, you name it. Most people wanting more access to me and on the outside it looked like I was winning. But inside I was asking myself, why does this feel so hard? That season taught me this truth that not all growth

is a line growth. Sometimes, you know, we grow in a direction that we never actually wanted. We outgrow a business model or we reach a milestone and realized that we left our piece behind. I mean, how many of you guys have ever reached a goal thinking that it was like this big hairy audacious goal to only find out when you finally reached it? It wasn't all cracked up to be the way you really thought it.

So at that moment I had to pause, I had to realign and I had to redefine what success looked like for me. And if you've ever been to any of our Play Bigger events, we say that a lot is what does success look like for you? What does playing bigger look like for you? You see, I see thousands of real estate agents that I have met, they chase what they think success looks like or what our industry deems success looks like only to wake up one day going, I'm making less than when I was producing on my own or I have more issues which is costing me my piece. And what I've discovered because I've helped a wide variety of agents grow and scale, whether they're a solo agent, a small team, a massive team, or even brokerage, I've seen it all.

Lately, everyone's been asking me not about the messy middle Raquel, but where is the secret middle ground where my business model makes a lot of money and I get to have fun and freedom to fulfill that legacy that I truly want. So I want to walk you through a four part framework because you know, I love tactics that I use with our coaching clients when growth feels heavy before they choose their million dollar model. Number one, I want you to recognize the resistant is the heaviness coming from misaligned goals. Is it coming from broken systems? Is it coming from lack of boundaries or are you trying to force somebody else's blueprint into yours?

You see growth starts to feel like a grind when we ignore the resistance. I don't want you to push through it. I know some of you high achievers will do that, but I want you to listen to it. And two is I want you to evaluate your season. There are seasons for speed. There are seasons for structure. There are seasons for everything. And if you're building while also navigating through some family dynamics, maybe changes, health issues, or burnout, you might be trying to run into a season that is meant for restoration or foundation. So I want you to ask yourself, what season am I really in right now? Not what Instagram says, not what your coach says, sorry coaches, but what you know is in your gut.

And number three, I want you to audit your business model. Most heaviness comes from poor design, which leads to burnout or being unmotivated or wanting to shut everything down and start over. Have you been there? Trust me, I have many of times. And if your current model requires you to be in 1500 places, it's not sustainable. Or if it depends on you grinding 24 seven or answering your phone 24 seven, it's not scalable. I want you to audit your business, your team that supports you and your systems. Where are the leaks? Where does it need to be simplified? And number four, I want you to nurture what actually fuels you today. You can't build with burned out energy. What fuels you? Is it clients? Is it the sales? You still love showing houses. You still love getting that listing contract. Is it the content? Is it marketing? Is it structure? Revamping what your team should look like. Is it building the business? Is it just simplicity? I want you to give yourself permission to redesign your growth strategy around energy and not just income. You see, success isn't about doing more. It's about doing less better and your goals are allowed to evolve.

You know, I was listening to a podcast with Ed Milet and the other day he said, goals are temporary. Life is temporary. You're in seasons. And it's okay to adjust. The best businesses are built with clarity and alignment and not constant hustle. I got to thank my coach, Sharran, who many of you guys know, I coached with him before he even took on a president role at my current brokerage real. And we were building out our coaching offers. We were getting into the space.

And he always asked me, I mean, a guy that has had multiple exit that has sold multiple companies, that has been a consultant behind some of the biggest brands out there. Ask me, okay, what do you hate and what do you love? Let's go build that because you can scale anything. And it's so true. High ticket success doesn't require high stress systems and people. Your dream life and your dream business should not be competing.

So I want you to ask yourself, where does my business feel heavy right now? What am I doing because I should or what people tell me I should versus what actually lights me up. This is a big one for most of us. And what would I build if no one was watching? And where am I sacrificing peace for performance or to even look good on social? If this episode is hitting home or you're craving higher level of coaching strategy and community without the burnout, without the overwhelm. I have been working on something that is going to be a game changer because I know it's been a game changer for a lot of our high performing agents that I coach inside. We coach agents who want to scale with clarity, with leverage and alignment. And it's a mix of mindset systems and strategy with some in-person retreats and real-time business audits. I'm finally bringing it to the market because I believe this industry has been missing this for a long time. I haven't opened the doors yet. The first round will be invite only, and I'm so excited. And honestly, people are already DMing me, I need this Raquel, how do I get in? And it's not your average coaching program.

There's a reason why our clients scale to 500 or even over a million dollars and even, you know, multiple millions of dollars without building something that breaks them. And if you're ready to build the right business model for you, I want you to DM me the word circle and my team will send you all the details because expansion doesn't have to feel exhausting and you don't need to burn it all down to build something better, but you do have to be willing to pause and pivot because growth gets to feel powerful.

Growth gets to feel peaceful. And when it does, it becomes sustainable. I want to thank you, my friends, for listening to another quick no fluff episode. And if this episode spoke to you, send it to a friend, it might be the reminder they needed to hear. And I want you to tag me at it's Raquel Q so I can celebrate your growth with you. Until next time, stop playing small, build a line and always, until next time, stop building small, go take action and always, always play bigger.
