Say Yes Before You're Ready: How Fear is the Gateway to Growth

Raquel Quinet Episode 366

You ever feel the flinch? That tightness in your chest… the nervous energy when you’re on the edge of doing something big? I’ve felt it too—and in this episode, I’m pulling back the curtain on what it really looks like to say yes before you're ready.

This isn't just another motivational chat. It's a truth bomb-filled conversation for the real estate agent, the entrepreneur, or the high-achiever who's tired of waiting for the "perfect" moment. Spoiler: it doesn’t exist.

In this episode, I get real about the fear I’ve faced (and still face), the risky yeses I’ve made—from scaling with zero blueprint, to investing in AI, to speaking in rooms that made me sweat—and why the flinch is actually proof that you’re growing.

🎯 Here’s What I Cover:

  • Why clarity comes after the leap, not before
  • 5 bold business moves that will stretch (and grow) you
  • How to stop waiting for confidence and start acting with courage
  • Tactical tips you can apply this week
  • Journal prompts that might just spark your next breakthrough

If you've been feeling stuck or scared, this is your sign. Let’s stop waiting and start moving. The next version of you? She’s already on the other side of fear.

Here's the truth: the flinch is proof that you're growing

That nervousness, the butterflies that you feel, that's expansion in disguise. Fear isn't the problem, avoidance is. You wanna grow; you keep asking yourself, one day I wanna grow, I wanna scale my real estate business, and you wanna stop feeling stuck, then stop waiting until you feel ready or until you have all the pieces because clarity doesn't come before the lead. Believe it or not, it comes after.

Welcome back to The Raquel Show. This show is for entrepreneurs who want to play bigger in business and in life. And this is a space where we just don't talk about real estate and business. We talk about playing bigger, about stepping into the version that's already on the other side of fear.

And today we are getting real about what it looks like to say yes, even before you feel ready. This is for the entrepreneur, the real estate agent, the high achiever who keeps getting that nudge that pull forward into something greater, but then let's fear hold them back. And I want to talk about it in today's episode.

So let me start by saying this; I've said yes to a lot of things this year that scared the crap out of me. I've said yes to speaking in a room full of loan officers just recently. And it scared me because I had never had a full room of loan officers. It's always been real estate agents or both. I've said yes to a partnership that's helping scale something much bigger than me. And I've said yes to investing into a tech company that's leveraging AI because I believe in the person and I believe in the vision.

And every time right after I say yes, I had the moment, you know that one moment where you think about and say, "Why did I say yes? What if this was a mistake? What if it doesn't work out? Maybe I should back out or am I even qualified?"

That's when you want to flinch, to pull back, to play it safe. But here's the truth. The flinch is proof that you're growing. That nervousness, the butterflies that you feel, that's expansion in disguise. Fear isn't the problem, avoidance is. You wanna grow, you keep asking yourself, one day I wanna grow, I wanna scale my real estate business, and you wanna stop feeling stuck, then stop waiting until you feel ready or until you have all the pieces because clarity doesn't come before the lead. Believe it or not, it comes after and the agents I coach who have grown the fastest, they're not the ones with the best CRMs. They're not the ones with the best marketing. They're not the ones with the best team.

They're actually the ones who have decided before they were ready and they said, yes, they act, they execute really, really quick into their future self, not their current fear. They operate and make decisions based on the future, not currently where they're at.

So let me walk you through five bold moves that may scare the hell out of you, but could radically shift your business starting this week.

Number one is going in on all social media or video. It's the fastest path to trust to building brand, to visibility, and you can scale video, you can scale social media and impact at a large scale. And yet, I hear it every day. What if I look awkward or I sound funny? What if people judge me? What if no one likes my video? Well, let me tell you, they're already judging you. So let them judge you while you grow. And here's my tactical tip for you; is start with one client questions that you get, write them, jot them down in your notes section. Every time you get a question from a client, start a running list of all the client questions you get asked and answer it on camera. Post it and keep on going.

Number two is calling your leads, all of them. I know that scares a lot of people. This one still blows my mind. So many agents are afraid to call the very people who are asking for help. If you can't get over this, you don't have a marketing problem, you have a mindset problem. And your tactical tip is I want you to block one hour a day. Start with one hour a day for just lead calls. Use a simple script. The confidence comes from taking action. The confidence comes from consistency.

And number three is reaching out to potential collaborators. A few months ago, and I said it on this podcast, I picked the phone and called several people I admire. I wanted to explore a partnership. Was I nervous? Absolutely. But that one yes has led to a whole entire stream of opportunities. Right now I am actually reaching out to real estate agents who align with the new kind of real estate group I am putting together. It's uncomfortable and yes, it's scary. So my tip for you is either DM or voice note three people this week. I want you to be specific, be bold and just go for the ask. You know you've been thinking about it, so just go do it.

Number four is investing in yourself. I know it scares you. I know your commission or your incomes may be up and down or the market may be slow, but you gotta bet on yourself. The coach that you've been eyeing, the system that I know will save you hours and hours of tedious stuff, the event you keep thinking about going to, the hesitation is not logic, it's just fear dressed up practically. So here's my tip for you is ask yourself, "what's the cost of where I'm staying at right now? And if the cost and you realize what the cost of you staying who you are", then I want you to commit to an action that creates an ROI.

And number five is saying yes to what stretches you. Maybe it's a leadership role, maybe it's leading a team, maybe it's a speaking gig, maybe it's going into a new market or upping your price point, maybe it's launching a brand, maybe it's even hiring your first VA, whatever it is, you're waiting to feel confident before you commit, but confidence doesn't lead the way, courage does, action does. So here's my tip for you, is journal this today, what am I avoiding because it scares me? But I know it could change everything. And if you couldn't fail, what would you do next?

So I wanna pull back the curtain, I said yes to scaling projects that I had zero blueprint for. I invested in platforms and people I believed in before and I had spreadsheets to back it up.

I made bold moves not because I'm fearless, but because I've trained myself to move with fear.

FEAR stands for face everything and rise, start running towards fear. And most recently, I said yes to building a completely different kind of team and culture inside of Arizona. And let me tell you, the yes came with so much resistance, especially when I had so much free time and I was in stillness out in Southern California in Huntington Beach. But the moment you stop waiting to feel ready is the moment you collapse time.

If this is landing with you, I wanna give you three journal prompts because breakthroughs start with self honesty. And sometimes you just need to bring them.

  • What decision am I avoiding because it feels scary?
  • Number two, is if I trusted myself fully, what would I say yes to?
  • And number three, is what's one bold move I could make this week that aligns with who I am becoming?

Pause this episode if you need to, come back to it, but don't skip this. These questions, believe it or not, are your mirror.

And I want you to remember something. The life and the business you want, it won't come from staying safe. It comes from saying yes before you're ready. Because ready is a myth. Perfect timing is such an illusion. And fear, that's the price that we pay for expansion.

The next time your heart beats a little bit faster when you're presented with an opportunity, I want you to lean in. That's not fear warning you, that's growth inviting you. And if this episode hit home for you today, DM me or share it on social and tag me at @itsraquelq
