Play Bigger in Real Estate with Raquel Q.

You Can’t Scale With Excuses

Raquel Quinet Episode 367

What would your life look like if you stopped defending your limitations and started designing your future? In this episode of The Raquel Show, I’m getting real about the subtle, sneaky ways excuses keep us stuck—and how to break free from them for good.

I’m sharing the mindset framework I’ve used with top entrepreneurs, real estate agents, and leaders to shift from “I’m not ready” to “I’m already there”. Because here’s the truth—your results will never outperform your identity, and every excuse you’re holding onto is just a brick in the wall between you and your next level.

Things I Cover in This Episode:

  • Why your brain works overtime to prove your beliefs true (and how to change it)
  • The “Identity Stack” questions that can completely transform your outcomes
  • My 3 go-to tactics to stop the excuse cycle for good
  • How to take one small action that will change your energy and results this week
  • The truth about why vision boards alone won’t get you there

By the end of this episode, you’ll know exactly how to show up like the version of yourself who’s already made it—and you’ll have a challenge that could shift your momentum in just 7 days.

If you’re ready to stop negotiating with your excuses and start creating the future you’ve been dreaming about, hit follow so you never miss an episode. And if you want to go deeper, check out my playbooks at letsplaybigger.com.

Where are you defending limitations instead of designing your future? What would shift if you stopped negotiating with your excuses and started showing up as the version of you who has already made it? So the question is how do entrepreneurs, thought leaders and experts scale to create a massive business all while having fun and impacting lives?

Welcome to the Raquel Show. I'm your host, Raquel Quinet, business coach, real estate entrepreneur, investor, wife, and sports mom. This podcast will give you real quick tips, strategies, tools, and inspire you to help you play bigger in business and in life. Are you ready? Let's grow to the next level.

Welcome back to another episode of The Raquel Show. If you are new here, I'm Raquel Quinet, business coach, investor, and your go-to for real estate conversations around scaling strategy and stepping into your next level. Let me ask you something. Have you ever caught yourself saying things like, I just don't have time right now. I'm too busy with clients, kids, or life, or I just can't afford to invest in that yet. Or I'm not ready or I'll invest in coaching Raquel after I close my next deal. It's faster if I just do it myself. Let's be real. These are justifications we use to delay action.

But what if I told you these aren't reasons, they're excuses that are keeping you stuck. And today's episode might sting a little, but it's coming from love and from experience because this one mindset trap is silently costing entrepreneurs and real estate agents the success they say they want. Here's what we're diving into. I'm going to walk you through a mindset shifting framework to help you break free from all your excuses and step into the identity of the person who already has what you want because it's not willpower. Sometimes we're not always motivated. It's about how you choose to show up even when no one's watching. So let's unpack it all. And at the end of this episode, I might just might give you a challenge that could shift your energy for the entire week.

So the truth about excuses is that excuses are seductive. They give us permission to stay in our comfort zone. But here's the kicker. Your brain will always work to prove your beliefs are true. And if you believe that you're too busy, you will always find a way to feel overwhelmed. And if you believe you're not good at sales, you'll prove that through every single sales conversation. What you are doing is defending a version of yourself that no longer fits with where you're heading. You can't create a next level with a current level mindset and the excuses, hey, those are bricks in the wall between you and that next level. So I want to go deeper. Your reality, your results reflect your identity.

If you see yourself as someone who tries things out first or someone that executes like a CEO, your behaviors will match. This is where I've learned you can't outperform your identity. Just like in fitness, you can't outperform a bad diet. So if you want to shift your outcomes, start with an identity stack. And here are the questions.

Who am I today? Want you to be extremely honest. Who do I need to become? This is your future identity and what beliefs does that version of me hold and what does that version of me do every single day? And last is how can I start practicing that version now before I feel ready? This is why vision boards alone don't work. You just can't see it. You have to embody it.

So let's get tactical. I want you to do a quick audit, pause this if you have to, I want you to write down three top goals right now. And next to each goal, write the main reason why you have not achieved it yet. Now ask yourself, is that a reason or is it an excuse? Cause most of the time I'll tell you it's an excuse that feels like facts.

I don't have time. You do, but it's just not scheduled. I don't know how that's why we have Google, ChatGPT, mentors and podcasts like this. That's what they're for. Or I'm not ready. I'm not confident enough. Well, confidence is built by taking action. Now I want you to flip the script. What would a committed person do instead? How would your future self actually handle this?

And here are my three go-to tactics to stop the excuse cycle. One is I want you to install a 20 minute rule. Pick the one thing that you've been putting off, set a timer, do it for 20 minutes because momentum kills resistance. Number two is build a no excuse environment. Who you surround yourself with matters and are your conversations filled with solutions or sympathy. Number three is I want you to pre-decide your identity, write your statements out because it trains your brain such as I'm a massively successful entrepreneur, right? We don't make decisions from our current circumstances. We make them from our committed futures. I'm going to say it again. We don't make decisions from our current circumstances. We make them from our committed future. That shift alone changes everything.

So my friends this week, I want to challenge you to do one thing. Start with, Hey, Raquel, I just want to remind you that and speak as if you have already achieved the next level. Talk to yourself like a boss, lead like a leader, lead with making decisions that align your future self. Then I want you to listen to that memo every single morning for seven days. Watch what changes, watch your mindset, watch the decisions that you make when you're fully committed and watch your energy. You have too much vision, way too much potential and too much purpose to keep letting excuses hold the mic in your life and keep rewriting that story.

So today I want you to get radically honest, brutally honest with yourself. Where are you defending limitations instead of designing your future? I'm going to ask you that again. Where are you defending limitations instead of designing your future? What would shift if you stop negotiating with your excuses and started showing up as the version of you who has already made it. And if you are ready to go deeper and you want to install the systems, the mindset shifts, the identity that can create long-term growth for you.
