The #1 Mistake Agents Make When They Feel Burnt Out

Raquel Quinet Episode 379

Have you ever told yourself you’re “burnt out,” but deep down, you’re not sure if that’s the real issue? In this episode of The Raquel Show, I open up about one of the biggest traps entrepreneurs, agents, and leaders fall into: mistaking being uninspired for actual burnout.

I’ve been there—hitting the goals, closing the deals, and yet still feeling flat and wondering, is this it? And what I’ve learned is this: when we confuse uninspired with burnout, we start making the wrong moves. We step away from opportunities, think something is “wrong” with us, or even consider burning our business to the ground… when really, what we need is a spark.

🔥 In this episode, I cover:

  • The key differences between burnout and being uninspired
  • Why this confusion keeps so many entrepreneurs stuck
  • The signs you’re uninspired (not actually burnt out)
  • My personal story of shifting from uninspired to reignited
  • 5 powerful ways to spark fresh inspiration and play bigger in business and life

If you’ve ever caught yourself saying, “I’m so burnt out,” this conversation may be exactly what you need to hear to get clarity, energy, and momentum back.

When you mistake uninspired for burnout, you start making the wrong changes. You start stepping away from opportunities that you could have leaned into and you think something's wrong with you when in reality, your business and your vision just need a spark.

If it's a lack of inspiration, don't walk away from your business. Reignite your vision, surround yourself with the right people and give yourself permission to Play Bigger.

Hey friends, Welcome back to The Raquel Show. This show is for entrepreneurs who want to play bigger in business and in life. And today, I want to talk to you about something that so many of us, whether you're a real estate agent, an entrepreneur or a leader, we sometimes say these words, I'm burnt out. But here's the truth. Most of the times you're actually not burnt out. You might just be uninspired.

And today I want to unpack this because when you mistake uninspired for burnout, you start making the wrong changes. You start stepping away from opportunities that you could have leaned into and you think something's wrong with you when in reality, your business and your vision just need a spark. And in today's episode, I'm going to break down the difference between burnout and being uninspired. I want you to explore why this confusion keeps so many agents stuck.

And I want to talk about practical ways to reignite your inspiration without blowing up your business. Trust me, we've all been there. I want to burn this to the ground. And by the end, you'll have a clear path to tell the difference in your own life and know exactly what you need to do to feel that debt. So let's start out with what is burnout Raquel? What is it? You see burnout is real. It's physical, it's emotional, it's mentally exhausting.

You've been running on empty for so long that your body and your brain are literally depleted. It looks like chronic fatigue and a complete inability to perform even the basics. Sometimes there are days you just don't even want to get out of bed. But here's where most people get it wrong. If you're still showing up, you're still closing deals, you're still pushing forward, chances are you might not be burnt out.

You might just feel tired, sure, but you're functioning. So what's really happening? You might be uninspired. I often hear burnout when people slow down, the results don't show up and they're not closing deals, they're not getting commission checks. And believe it or not, when you are uninspired, the work feels heavier and you almost think to yourself, gosh, Raquel, nothing is working. The same activities that used to give you energy now feel like chores.

You start asking yourself, what's the point? That's not burnout. That's just a lack of vision. And let me give you an example of my own journey. There was a season in my real estate career where I was closing deals left and right. I was hitting every goal on paper, but I remember thinking, is this it? Is this what I have been working so hard for? And at first I thought I was burnt out. I told myself I needed a break.

But what I realized is I wasn't tired from the work, because I still love talking to clients and I still love leading the team. I was just tired of doing the same work without a new challenge or a deeper purpose behind it. And what I really needed was inspiration, a bigger vision, a new goal that scared me, a way to bring more creativity and meaning back into what I was actually doing day to day. And I put myself in rooms that stretch me.

And these are times where I actually started investing in coaches and mastermind when I would feel uninspired. This shift is exactly what led me to expand, build teams, start coaching companies, and even create PlayBigger. So if you are listening right now and you're thinking, gosh, Raquel, I feel so burnt out. I want to ask you to ask yourself, are you truly exhausted or are you just uninspired?

Here are some of the ways to know if you're uninspired instead of burnout. So here's some of the signs of burnout. You feel physically drained no matter how much you rest. You're irritable, you're detached most of the time. Even the small tasks feel almost impossible. Here's signs of being uninspired. You start producing results, but it feels flat. You procrastinate on things that used to excite you. You avoid visibility or content because it feels boring. You start avoiding people. You start comparing yourself to others and questioning your path. If you're uninspired, you don't need to quit. You don't need a six month break. You just need a spark.

So why does this happen?

  • Number one is you've outgrown your current goal or the goal is no longer in alignment for what you truly want. The vision that once stretched you might be too small or it just might not be that important.
  • Number two is your business feels transactional. Whether it's closing clients, contracts, follow up, it just feels like a grind. All of it.
  • And number three is you're just not challenging yourself, especially creatively. Humans thrive on solving problems. They thrive on sometimes even pressure innovating and creating.
  • And number four is you're doing it all alone. You think you are the answer to everything without community, without collaboration, without inspiration from others. It's so easy in this business to lose momentum.

So now that you know the difference of how you got uninspired or key things to look for when you're uninspired, let's talk about the practical side.

Here are five ways that you could reignite your inspiration

  • Number one is reconnect to your big Y. Remember why you started? For me, it wasn't just selling your houses. It was creating freedom for my family and building wealth that lasts.
  • And number two is I'd set a new challenge. Maybe that's a production goal. Maybe it's a revenue goal. Maybe it's buying an investment, but it could also be something creative like building your personal brand, starting a podcast or expanding into different types of investments like flips or creative financing.
  • And number three is I want you to shift your environment. Sometimes you just need to change the room you're working in or go to a coffee shop or upgrade your office or even spend time in a new city. Your environment influences your energy. It's probably why I travel at least once a month or at least I used to is because it just would shift my environment and I would go out and meet people after I spoke.
  • And number four is I want you to surround yourself with growth minded people. This is why I have created communities like Play Bigger. When you're around people who are inspired, guess what? It's contagious. And there is nothing that excites me more than when I see my Play Bigger community collaborate together and we build relationships. And I now know that there's collaboration, partnerships, investments, referrals. That's because we all want to see each other win.
  • And last but not least is create before you consume. Instead of scrolling on social media, produce something on your own, share a story, film a video, write a post. Creating puts you back in motion.

So when you reignite inspiration, everything changes. You wake up with more energy, your clients feel your excitement and opportunities start showing up because the energy is magnetic. Inspired agents don't close more deals. They attract more business. So the next time you're feeling yourself saying I'm burnt out, I want you to pause and ask, am I burnt out or am I just uninspired? And if it's burnout, take care of yourself, rest, recharge, heal.

But if it's a lack of inspiration, don't walk away from your business. Reignite your vision, surround yourself with the right people and give yourself permission to play bigger.

And if you need help doing that, that's exactly why we've created Play Bigger Coaching and the Agent CEO Accelerator. We help agents find clarity. We help them find structure and inspiration so that they can scale without the overwhelm. So DM me the word AgentCEO at @itsraquelq on IG for more information.
