WE ARE PILGRIMS: 7TH SUNDAY OF EASTER 2026

On this Sunday we celebrate what we are here on earth - pilgrims. This Sunday the readings remind us that our true home is not in this life - a reminder that this life is a journey - a pilgrimage to our final destination- our homeland in Heaven.
In the 1st reading the Apostles after witnessing the Ascension of Jesus, made the journey from the mountain to Jerusalem.
In the 2nd reading we are reminded that this pilgrimage to heaven is not an easy one but one full of spiritual dangers and suffering.
And in the gospel Jesus assures us that we are not alone in this journey- Not only does He provide food for this journey - the Holy Eucharist He is says He is praying for us. He will also send us the Holy Spirit to guide and strengthen us along the way. On the week before Pentecost, let us pray for the grace to be docile to the Holy Spirit so that we can hurry the way to our true home in heaven.
