I hit on the hotel receptionist , I asked for a number and she said it was zero . You know like stuff like that , like really , or like he said , I saw a wino eating grapes and he just said you have to wait Like things like that .

Speaker 1Thank you so much super excited to have you in the studio today and talk about your journey here in northwest arkansas and also through comedy and stand-up comedy , and you're also a dj yes , ma'am and what else do you do ?
Speaker 4I do everything . Construction , uh , I do it all . Man , I always , I always say yes to life . I , you know . My motto is say yes , and if you don't know , let's figure it out . How to you know , expand your knowledge depends on what it is . I don't know , it's just I . I look at it . If it's meant for me and I have time , I'm gonna say yes , I just that's how I've been rolling and it's been turning out really good , that's really awesome .
Speaker 1Well , tell us a little bit . We always like to ask our listeners , kind of our first question we like to ask are not our listeners our guests ? We first like to ask what brought you to Northwest Arkansas ? Did you grow up here or did you move here ?
Speaker 4So I'm originally from Los Angeles , california , okay , and JB Hunt brought me out here . Okay , because JB Hunt wanted everybody to work from home or from the main office .
Speaker 1Okay .
Speaker 4And when they brought me out here , I didn't know what to expect .
Speaker 1Yeah , like I didn't .
Speaker 4Even I didn't know what a Razorback was .
Speaker 2I knew what it was . You're in good company . I didn't either . I didn't either .
Speaker 4And they told me North Swiss Arkansas , and on the way here you don't see anything for miles . No , and I was like where am I going Exactly ? And when I finally got here , once you go past that tunnel and you start seeing the lights and everything , you're like , okay , just hit it . Know , we don't find it . And when I came here and I don't know , it was the all four , all four seasons .
Speaker 3I was I don't know I loved it .
Speaker 4I thought it was cool and I got stuck in traffic and in la , when you get stuck in traffic you're gonna be there a while , you're gonna be there all day .
Speaker 2So when , 20 minutes past table and just play a card game with the net car , yeah , it's like it's over , like turn the car off , you're staying the night you know , and here .
Speaker 4I got stuck for 20 minutes and I called my boss and was like , hey , man , I'm probably gonna be an hour later . So I was like , why ? So what's wrong , are you okay ? He's like yeah , I'm just stuck in traffic and he put me on speaker , say that , again stuck in traffic . And he I hear him , just the la kid is stuck in traffic . I just hear everybody laughing . And like 20 minutes later he's like dude , traffic's not like la bro , come here . And I was crying and I was like I'm sorry , give me a hug . That's that's how I got here and uh , I've always wanted to do comedy and I started it here all right , very cool .
Speaker 1What you first , really quick , before we get into that what ? What year did you move here ? When did you come to northwest ? 2020 okay , newbie , all right , you really didn't get to see it when it was nothing I didn't either , yeah I was driving around , tell my kids we're driving on 49 .
Speaker 1We're driving past where the amp is and where all the promenade and all that stuff . And I told my daughter I was like I remember when this was just fields and then pop , a hotel went up and she was like what ? And I was like , yeah , it was nothing out here .
Speaker 4So yeah , Back in the day like 2005 . So my sister and my mom had moved to missouri okay so I would go back and forth all the time okay , so I'll either go to school here and I would drop one semester and go back , like it was just back and forth between la and missouri .
Speaker 1Okay , and what ?
Speaker 4got me stuck in la was what's my job , yeah I was like I told mom . I was like I'm not , I'm probably not coming back anymore . And fair enough , jb . I was like coming back you're coming to northwest arkansas you're living here now and , yeah , that's how I got here .
Speaker 1So yeah , and so you started . You started to do comedy here in northwest arkansas . So what kind of launched you into that ? Where , where did that begin ?
Speaker 4I've always wanted to do it , like when I was little . I just I saw , I saw george lopez do it for the first time and as a kid you know like it's just . I saw him entertaining people and making them laugh . And when I do it , that's something that comes easy to me and I'm able to , like you know , get the flow going , find out what you like and then just dig at it yeah , like make people feel comfortable , and it seems like this guy was doing it with a thousand people .
Speaker 1Yeah .
Speaker 4And in my mind I was like that's since I was little it's been on my , on the back of my head , but like if your kid tells you I want to play soccer , you know where to take them Right .
Speaker 4If your kid wants to play basketball . You know , I got a family reunion . You can be funny there , you know . So it was to me it seemed
Moving from LA to Northwest Arkansas
Speaker 4impossible . It always seemed like something that was not in the cards . Not even in the cards , like I just imagine telling somebody hey , to get a comedian right now , even right now there's nowhere to enroll them in where they can like start practicing or be in front of people . So it's just kind of one of those things that . And then being in the city people , so it's just kind of one of those things that . And then being in the city in LA , like it was just kind of like like either play sports or you're . The options weren't there for me . So when I came here and I saw that they had like an open mic , I was like I'm going and fair enough , like I went .
Speaker 1Where was this first open mic that you ?
Speaker 4went to . It was in kansas city okay , okay in kansas city .
Speaker 4I was out there with my cousin just always . He always says like man you should be , you should really try to be in front of a mic . It's like dude you like . When you talk it's just kind of like a flip switches in you and people listen . We go to this open mic and right away the guy tells us all right , man , there's not that many people here tonight , but you know you're gonna get 10 minutes longer than five . And I was like okay . And right away I started thinking of like all right , what am I going to do ? It's like , if you're funny , we'll let you cook , we'll let you keep going , we'll let you until you're done , right . So I was like all right , cool , cool , cool , I'm going to flash you a 10 . That means wrap it up . All right , cool . He's like well , your cousin's been hyping you up , so everybody's expecting big things out of you .
Speaker 3I'm like all right , cool cool .
Speaker 4So I get up there and I'll tell you it was the longest 10 minutes of my life .
Speaker 4I was sweating . I was like , just well , you know , I'm going on and he finally gives me the light . And I was like man , I'm so thirsty right now , minutes , bro . And I was like what ? And I was like you were up there for 30 minutes and people came up to me and was like yo , where are you from , like , where can we find you ? Where can we follow you ? And I was all like this is my first time , bro , and and that's something that I have , like when I go to comedy shows you can ask my boy here . He's like what are you going to talk about tonight ? I was like I don't know , like it , just , it just comes out .
Speaker 2It just comes out . You don't like write it before .
Speaker 4Yeah , like I write it , like I think of like something funny , that like , for instance , if something happens , something funny that I one right and I write it down , stuff .
Speaker 4Like that's how I write it down , I just write a little thing and I then I make a story out of it or I let my mind go crazy . But people always I ran into a problem when they're like , hey , man , we need to know what you're gonna say so we're able to book you I was like okay . So I went to a tryout and I wrote the whole thing down , what I was gonna say , word for word , and I bombed so bad . So because to me it didn't feel like like you're getting the full me , like me , and this experience is like in the moment , like you're gonna have a good time , like that's just how my aura is , or that's how when I , when I get the mic to flip , like I just I feel it . When I get the mic , the moment I grab it and I start talking , I feel the switch and I just take off yeah so like I , I just it's hard for me to practice something and like not actually be performing ?
Speaker 4yeah , it's just , I think , just being in the moment , like just being live , and it's just something different , because I told myself I'm never gonna practice again , ever yeah , I was kidding no , but you know what I'm saying .
Speaker 4Like I go over my sets , I'll go over stuff , I'm gonna talk like I try to put something together so I can just grab as I go and go . But as for me , writing it down and like watching , I went to a little writing session and everyone's writing books and this and that , and I'm over here like hey , I wrote stuff too , bro . But I'm just going to say it . I have an empty book and I'm just like uh-huh , yeah , it's funny .
Speaker 1I'll write that down .
Speaker 4That's just kind of like a process that I do .
Speaker 1That's cool . I think it's neat because everyone has a different process . We've tried writing things down word for word and it did not go well with us , for us either . So I mean , there's sometimes that it goes well if we have some things that are , you know , scripted or just prepared . Yeah , I am a little bit better at improvising as well , so as long as I'm paying more attention to the words I'm saying like my ums and my absolutelys and all the little you know .
Speaker 2Yeah , the ums , the um Is your comedy clean , yes , I do clean comedy At first .
Speaker 4When I first started , I was raw . I was just kind of like so excited that I didn't know the rules or I didn't know . Like I mean , it's just like anything , you know , you're gonna go try it and see what fails or see what , you know what happens . And I was just going off the bat like I was just I was so excited , I felt like a golden retriever , just like excited , you know . But then I I started meeting people and it was like bro , you're , you're really good , but no one's gonna book you if you can't clean it up .
Speaker 4I was like okay cool cool , cool . I started cleaning it up and it's just it wasn't . It was never like nothing , like like rude or something , it was just the excitement of being in the party yeah , you know what I'm saying so , I had to learn to pump the brakes a little bit and know what you know how to get in the door so I can see more opportunities yeah so that's what I cleaned up , all my style , and now I'm doing corporate shows .
Speaker 2I'm doing oh , yeah , yeah no , like .
Speaker 4This is no longer . Uh , um , hey , I'm a comedian .
Speaker 2It's like no , I'm , I'm yeah , I would think that would be harder to do corporate comedy , because my husband works for a company and they'll bring in like jim gaffigan or someone and sometimes they just like he'll say they'll try to make fun of like people in the company and sometimes I don't know if it always lands like this .
Speaker 1She just is like my husband works for a company that brought in jim gaffigan . What company does your husband work for ?
Speaker 2I've seen jim gaffigan live , but I don't know if it's just like a nervous , I don't know . It seems to me like it'd be harder to write instead of just for you , but for like a company , I don't know . Do you know ?
Speaker 4yeah , I have that I have . They always ask me like , hey , can , can you ? Like that was my first year of comedy , was breaking . That was breaking that habit or not breaking . Like breaking people's habits of like thinking like because everywhere I had to go I had a whole year I had to do free shows because I had , because literally everywhere I went they're like oh man , we've seen comedy , man , and we don't know we want that for our business . We don't know we want to promote , you know vulgar and all that stuff .
Speaker 4And I was like I don't do that you know , I was like , just give me a chance , let me . Let me show you what we got . You know , because the comedy , the comedy apparently , is just like really raw . I didn't grow up with with raw and , like you know , like the stuff that makes you cringe , those comedians , I didn't see those comedians yeah like I grew up storytellers .
Speaker 4You know people that are like paint you a picture and like punch lines . That's the type of comedy . So when others , when I hear people like talking rude and saying all these cringy things , I'm like where is this coming from ? Right like , what like , and I feel like that's .
Speaker 3Yeah , that's what they say .
Speaker 4It's trauma , or you know , like this is my therapy and I get mad . I'm like this is not therapy , it's comedy , bro .
Speaker 1You're here to entertain us .
Speaker 4It's affordable I'm mexican , I know , but you know what I'm saying . Like it's just kind of like it's , it's affordable . I'm mexican , I know , but you know what I'm saying . Like it's just kind of like it's . It's . When I see comedy like that , it just kind of throws me off because I'm like man , like what , where is this coming from ? Or like what , what makes it okay for you to talk about these things ? And I'm like , dude , if you could talk about these things , back it up and make sure that they laugh .
Speaker 4Because when I started it , like that's , the point of view that everybody had of me is like , oh , this guy's gonna be crazy , this guy's gonna you know , you know say some things that we don't like . Or you know , it's a family restaurant and I always had a whole year I had to do free shows and it sucked . But I knew where I was going with it , because everybody after the show would come up to me and be like , hey , man , that's something like I see on Netflix , bro , like , dude , you're good . And I was like . And I was like , all right , I got something . Now , like I got something I'm able to cook , and fair enough , just kept going , kept going , kept going and just finally it started coming , I was like , hey , man , we're gonna pay you this much . And I was like , wait , pay me .
Speaker 4And after that I started meeting the right people , like now that I broke that . I broke the because I did a show at the ? U of a and that's when I knew that I separated from everybody , because when you're at a bar you go to a comedy show , it's usually beer , you know . There's like you're able to move around and stuff like that . So they hired us for a show at the U of A and everybody was just bombing and I was like what's going on out ? There's like other people not laughing , you know , not , not in the zone . And my buddy's like , well , there's no beer here and there's no way to exit .
Speaker 4Like people are sitting down like at a movie theater , like it's there's no , it's a show show and these guys are used to like , you know , the beer loosens everybody up , whatever . And the guy comes up to say hey , bro , I need , I need Frisco , like I need , I don't need Frank , I don't need anybody else , I need , I need Frisco like what do you want me to do ?
Speaker 2like just just just save the show . I was like all right , but no pressure , yeah , no , pressure at all .
Speaker 4No , I went out there and I did my thing like I , I killed it , I slaughtered because , right away , like , even when I go , like when I go to I go to memphis , when I go to all these places , they I get the feedback , the same feedback every time . Like , bro , when you're on the mic , you have a presence like you , you , you demand attention because I , when I do sets , when I really take like I'll do my set , I'll start out and then I'll I'll give like a five second coin drop . And what a five second coin drop is . I hear , and if I hear the dishes and if I hear like the like just hearing different things , and I don't hear people , that's how I know I got them and that's when I take off .
Speaker 4So , like , I hear the like , that's how you , because the people , they do a silence and you hear people talking , you see like , hey , you know like people being on their phones yeah but when I'm on stage and I give that five second coin drop and now that I told you if you ever come to my show you'll hear it you're gonna be like yeah , I never thought about that yeah , well , that's what I . I pay attention like to me is like , because there's stories that you have to be there and if you're not there .
Speaker 4You're not going to get the punch line right , yeah , so I I always make sure I pause for five seconds ,
The Journey to Stand
Speaker 4drink water and I listen , and if I don't hear anybody talking except for the dishes , it's go time . Like it's time to step on the gas and let's go so that's just something that I pay attention , you know , because I feel like the human experience , like excitement . That's just what I thrive on is getting people excited to be like yo , you know , and when I see people's faces light up or their eyes is like in the zone .

Speaker 1Yeah , so how'd you hamster those U of A students or U of A audience .
Speaker 4What did you do ?
Speaker 2Gen Z comedy .
Speaker 1I know Everything comedy , I know everything . Well , that's the thing he did say bet earlier and I was like , oh man , I feel so old I got a nephew all right , he's probably like in his 20s I got a nephew .
Speaker 4He said bet , I stuck my hand out . He's like what are you doing ? I was like you said bet . I was like no , the moment he said that my knees buckled . I was like my back started hurting . I was like , oh my god , what just happened ?
Speaker 1you just kind of like include , like the rizzler and skibbity ohio , like I haven't I love we have kids the same age , 12 and 9 and they'll put like , put on this song .
Speaker 2It's funny and it's like like it's supposed to be a chain smoker song and instead it's like I like we're never mewing , we're never getting old , old , we're never like so tired of me . And I'm like what does this even mean ?
Speaker 4Like I don't , this does not make sense for me , but anyway , oh my God , I felt old , I was doing that little .
Speaker 1What was ? What's that little like thing that you like ? No , not mewing that for with my face . What's that scraping thing called ?
Speaker 2What's it called ? I can't think of it . I don't even know . It's like Gua .
Speaker 1Sha , yeah , gua Sha . I do the Gua Sha and my daughter goes Mommy , are you trying to make your Mew better ? And I was like what ? I don't even know what you're talking about .
Speaker 2So then I was like now .
Speaker 1I make a joke . And I'm like okay whatever you come cuddle with me and tell me what's so crazy .
Speaker 2My daughter told me today that I look like I was dancing from like 2020 and I was like that's pretty new yeah five years ago . Is that bad apparently ?
Speaker 1no , I feel ella is a tough crowd , though . I mean we need to bring Ella and see how let's see if the Frisco kids can get Ella to laugh no , I feel I feel old , like like I was .
Speaker 4I was helping my , I was helping my nephew . He's like we need to , we need to come up with a school dance and we need to , we need to rehearse together . So I was like alright , so I'm choreograp , everything's going good , people high five kids are high-fiving me and everything . And then something happens . Something happens that just threw my back out , that my knees popped , like I felt like you sound like me ? No , we're dancing , we're doing the choreograph and I do this thing where , like I , I tuck in my shoulder or my elbow and I dip my head you ?
Speaker 2is that a dab ? Hold on , okay , I tell them .
Speaker 4I was all like all right guys now move over to the right and honey dip . And the kids look so confused . They're like I was like a honey dip . And this little girl just comes up to me and says it's called a dab and my knees buckled . I was like , oh , I called her mom right away . A phone went straight to her mom Come get your towel . I was like come get your child . I was so mad . And on the way home I was like damn .
Speaker 2This has been had Something almost worse this morning . Today I said we better skedaddle . And I remember my daughter showing me a video of a middle school teacher being like here's insults . Middle schoolers say me , and one of them was like you look like someone that would say let's great , now it's gonna be stuck in my mind like I'm gonna be going home , going .
Speaker 4Hey , bro , let's bring skedaddle back . Oh my god , let's just plant it every so I said that in la and my cousins were like what do you say ?
Speaker 1it's time to skedaddle boys like what is he ?

Speaker 4every time , yes , so there's one that I say is , when I moved here from LA , I got excited , you know , because they are like , hey , because Arkansas be lying , they don't , they don't identify themselves as Arkansas .
Speaker 4You know , when they told me I was like , hey , you're moving . They didn't say you're moving to Arkansas , you're moving to Northwest Arkansas . They don't tell you that . They didn't say you're moving to Arkansas , you're moving to Northwest Arkansas . They don't tell you that Someone like me . They're like hey , bro , you're moving to NWA . I was like NWA , straight out of Compton . Yeah , let's go . I'm locked in . I am ready to go , sign me up . I'm bringing my cousins . It's going to be a good time . We're going to NWA . Nwa , I'm on the way . You know , they don't tell you until you land . And I was like nwa started calling like whoa , whoa , easy , there , bud , there's a nice white area and I was like it is very white here when I tell that one here , everyone loses it all right , guys , I'm good I'm here , that I'll be here all week that's so funny .

Speaker 4No , I mean , it's just , it's like no , that's what , like that's what comedy does for me . Yeah , no , because like in , in a lot of ways it's like breaking , breaking just walls . Because I did a show close to harrison and I was the only latino on there and when I went on there , like I felt the tension , like I wasn't supposed to be there . You know what I'm saying . I just felt like , because I was , they told me like you're going where I would be careful , and I was like it's okay bro , I drive a ford , a ford ranger .
Speaker 4I'm good , you know , that's the joke that I tell people . I was like man , well , not , because I like I've never seen people so excited about a ford ranger , you know . You know , we're driving with my , with my new friends that I hear in arkansas , and every time nothing excites them like I'll be like , oh look , let's go there , and they'll just keep driving . But , god forbid , there's a ford ranger boy . Hey , did you see that ? That's a ford ranger right there , boy , I tell you , I was like that has a . Well , that ain't no pavement princess . I was like what is he saying ?
Speaker 2right now . Oh my god , that's what my husband drove when I met him in college bam , let's go .
Speaker 1That's how she got her , he from oklahoma , because it didn't have working anything .
Speaker 4She got in the car , saw all the mistakes like this is it ?
Speaker 2Because it had no AC . He would just say keep the windows up so you get hot and sweat , and then when you roll it down , then you'll feel like she was so happy , bro .
Speaker 4She was like oh my God , how many of you live with your parents . It's over . I told you , bro , I know where she went , oh my gosh , I love this .
Speaker 1Elliot's getting a little bit roasted right now . Oh , he's come a long way . This one was funny . Oh , of course he's come a long way , but that's what I'm saying . I like to call him bougie Elliot , because he's like super . You know he's just a cool guy . Now he drives a Silverado , oh for sure , like he is definitely upgraded upgraded .

I told I said this joke in dallas friday night and everyone it was like what , where are you ? And I was like nwa , no . But like back to my thing .
Speaker 4Man , like the thing that I liked about the comedy that I'm doing and the things that I'm doing , I went to a place like that that was hostile and I said a bunch . I said I did my set and at the end of the show I'm in there , you know , chopping it up , with people getting my information out , and this big guy , just huge , starts walking my way and they're like all right , he's probably going to tell me . You know like he's probably going to . You know what I hear about ? Harrison is really racist . So I'm thinking he's going to come tell me like hey , get out of here . You know I'm expecting the worst . And comes up to me and he's all like . You know , I don't , I don't really like a lot of mexicans , but you're good whoa and I was all like thank you .
Speaker 4You're like I don't know how to take that no , and like I mean I hear that I get that a lot , like a lot of places . Yeah , like I'm not even surprised anymore . I'm all like , hey , man , like you know , like we're all people and we all live here , and like the one thing you can't deny is that we all came here to laugh . I don't care what color you are , like we are here on the same mission and you're here . So you came here to laugh and guess who gave it to you ?

Comedy in Smaller Communities
Speaker 4or Saturday night and they , you know , they're like hey , man , we don't know who you are , but people know who you are .
Speaker 4I was like what do you mean ? He's like people are coming here to see you and they're like the performers are , they're bringing their A game and fair enough . I got there and they just started throwing down . They started I was enough . I got there and they just started throwing down . They started I was like what the level of talent ? And I was like , no , bro , it's because you're here . And I was like bet , so I gave them a little something of my own at the end . It's like that's how you do it .
Speaker 4And they all came up to me like it's one thing for you to , for you to go to a comic and tell them like hey , good job , or you know like , but for you to stay after the show and mango and like everybody's , can I get a picture , can I get a picture ? And I was like , yeah , like it feels . It was just kind of like because that was not my environment , and it was kind of like everyone's always asking like dude , why do you keep going to these places ? You're doing shows for , like banville , like all the high-end people , why you keep going to these spots ? And I was like well , that's because , because I'm , because of my comedy , I can do it there , because you can't do like . If you have a certain style , you can't go to like . You can go to different places , but you're not going to get the same outcome .
Speaker 4You know , like the like the U of A show , the stuff that they did wasn't matching well yeah you know , and I saw a guy that does really good go to a different state and didn't land nothing . And me , in the other hand , I was like yo , let's , let's go . Well , like this is , I'm not here from , like I'm here for them , and that's something that , like you got to adjust when you're doing your sets and stuff like that . It's just kind of hard to explain , but like that's what I people tell me . It's like you know a lot of people here and that's why you settle out here all the time and I'm all like maybe how about they get a good experience ?

Speaker 4When I went to LA I had seven shows and I went out there and my cousin's like , like my third show , when you buy tickets out there it gives you like a little slot where it says , hey , who you here to see ? So the first day I threw down and people were like all right , this guy's all right , because I went out there to go see if I could hang with the big dogs . Like what better place than to LA where , like yeah , it's spread out ? And my guy told me like hey , man , I got some hitters on here and I was like good , I want to see him , like I want to see you know if this is for real . So I went out there .
Speaker 4First day everybody's like , oh , okay , arkansas's in the house , I bet . Second day they're like all right , let's see if he does it again cake ate the whole night , let's go . The guys like , okay , I started meeting more people . Third day I get out there , starting to get more full and people are excited . Fourth day I get out there and he's like , hey , man , because I was going up . Second , you know .
Speaker 4First , second , you know I don't know I'm new out there well , basically new with my comedy . So it's like you got to pay your dues out there . Fourth day comes on and the owner of the place comes up to me like hey , man , you're headlining tonight . I was like what ? I was like what do you mean ? Like you're headlining tonight ? It's like people tickets 80% came to see you and I was like for real , it's like . Yeah , it's like . And he showed me like yeah , dude , look at that , frisco Frisco , frisco Frisco . I was like and I got like what it's awesome , right ? Yeah , my boy comes up to me and he says he's like that's where everything changed , that you .
Speaker 4But they don't know what you look like . I was like what do you mean ? He's like your headshot . Like we went on your instagram . There's no pictures , videos of you on your instagram . There's nowhere to find your face . Like they know who you are , but no one knows what who you are . And I was like , okay , I gotta , I gotta start doing it . And my cousin he's instagram famous out there told me the same thing . He's like hey , man , like you're , you're , you're you . You have to like . People have to see your face .
Speaker 4You constantly have to be posting , like you have to be out there for people to know you , like they want to get to know you at an intimate level . They want to . So I was like okay , and I went out with him and literally everywhere we went , they gave him everything for free . They got , they got the vip section . They just threw everything at him and they told him like hey , just check in on facebook and tag us and I was like and he looked at me .

It came from my nephew because he was at school and he was doing a school project and he had to go out and sell tickets and he's like I'm probably not gonna sell anything . And my sister told me , like let me get two tickets . So I bought two tickets and he got excited , like you sold two , like I sold two . It's like who bought them ? It's like it's like first call and he just went out and he sold all of them and I was like no , like that little stuff of motivation , it didn't take nothing . And I was like all right , motivational mondays , I'm gonna do some motivation to get people , because it's one thing for you to see motivational like joe rogan , see all these people but it's something different when it's someone you know that's close to home . That's like for them to tell you get up and let's go . Let's go do something . It just hits different . You're like all right , you know he's .

Speaker 4see that one person that's like yeah , oh , and I get a lot of that everybody when I go to the gym , like bro , like because when I don't post , when , like when I'm on , when I'm doing stuff , and I don't post like hey , bro , where's the video ? I was like bro , chill , and then the scripture came from is just god speaking through me ? Because I was like I like I wouldn't be where I was at it wasn't for him , you know , and it's just something . That's like it took me a while to get it , you know , it took me a little like man , I really want , because I want to do it . For the longest time I was like how can , how can I just do it , should I just do it ? And fair enough .
Speaker 4I invited one of my friends to church and he was broken , like he was bummed out , just sad , and I was like man , just come to church with me , bro . Like , let's just . You know we have to send the front , we could send the bag , just anything you're comfortable with , just just come in . He left church crying . He's like man . The pastor spoke to me , bro , and I needed this and I want to fix my family and I'm gonna , and I'm gonna do better . And it's been on my mind . I was like I want to do scripture , how can I do it ? How can I do it ?
Speaker 4And two months later I saw him again , a whole different person , whole different person , his family's in the truck and he's just happy to see me . He's like hey , man , I see you making motivational videos . Just can you wear my hat ? Can you put my hat on on the dashboard ? Man , dude , like I'm so happy , bro , like now that I get problems I don't get upset . I'm like and that's not supposed , this is not for me , like the holy spirit's working through me and I feel it , bro , and I'm so happy and I just want to thank you , bro , because , like I , I I smile and it's okay for me to smile and I want to thank you and I just I was like that was my sign .
Speaker 4The next day I started doing the scriptures on . I started doing scriptures and it , just , it , just , I love it , I love doing it .

I mean , I got a platform now and it's just helping people like that's just what I do , and I feel good yeah , it's like I don't .

Speaker 4So , my cousin , I got bullied in school a lot because of my name .

Speaker 4Yeah , in LA when they take roll , it only gives you six slots . So when you roll call it cut my name off , say Francis , so everybody's like Francis , francis , and I'd be like , oh , I mean I couldn't do anything , but you know , like . I was there , you know what I mean , and I would always get mad . And one day we went to the arcade , we got the high score and my cousin's name is Junior , so he just put JR .
Speaker 4And he's like all right bro , put your name up there . I was like that was the end of that nice and then my stage name , the Frisco Kid . So growing up , all my uncles , I grew up with them like they took care of me , they raised me , so anytime they'd be on a phone call and they'd refer to me . They'd be like I'm with the kid . So like , yeah , like we're going here , I got the kid with me , that's that's you know , my , my state , like cause I love them , you know .
Speaker 4So I was like they raised me and they gave me my morals and they gave me how I was supposed to act as a man , and it meant a lot to me . So I put two and two together Frisco kid and that's that so . I love that , yeah Cause people always telling me it's like how come you just don't use Francisco Valencia ? I was like cause Francisco Valencia goes to work . Frisco entertains .

Speaker 4So I usually do a lot of . I did a lot of restaurants , but now I got my own spot .

And you know , worked , worked out a deal and that's where I'm at now .
Speaker 4That's my spot very cool so I'm bringing , like everywhere I go , I'm like I'm bringing people out here . It started out as a just my team , my crew , because I got a , I got a team team that . I work with , because I need these shows to go good and I scouted for a whole year looking for these people , so now that they're together , it's like building a huge robot , like it's , you're getting a show .

You know all my team and it's like we need something that people can like catch , something that's like easy and like easy to remember so it's like so we thought about it one day . I don't know what I was like need something catchy that can like something that people like that's easy but not too complicated and the guy said jokes on me tonight and it just stuck in my head and I was like jokes on me come on jokes on us jokes
Speaker 4on us like we'll take care of the jokes pull up , and that was that and jokes on entertainment . That's where I'm born and my shows . Now I bring people out but I rotate my guys in and our shows are so different . Like when I bring other people , it's cool , it's awesome , don't get me wrong . But when I have my team , it's so much fun and it's like so , like everybody's , like I gotta get jokes on us out here . That's how people are when they pronounce like it's one that I want to get the frisco kid out here , but when it's jokes on us , it's just like it's a different type of my God , because it's so much fun we feed on each other .

And then sometimes like man , like I seen you before , I just don't know and it's like , oh can you sit , can you give us a little some ?
Speaker 1and I was like , oh man , it's hot , sauna's on and sweating . Of course it's hot . You don't gotta roll out a window . We don't gotta roll down any windows for a ranger .
Speaker 4Baby , I do a set . There's like five guys and like and another guy off to the to the right . Yeah , I'm doing a set in the sauna and I'm going in like like I was like we started talking about the dj thing and I was like you know what , let's go . So I started doing a set and I started doing my thing and they're having to be like I'm tearing it up , like I felt like I was on stage like it was a good time .
Speaker 4Everyone's laughing but there's this one guy that's not laughing . He's off to the right , he's not laughing and I'm like he's probably his headphones in or , you know , doesn't really care . Like people there to work out . I'm not trying to invade their space . I tell my joke this and that and I start to hey , there's my instagram , follow me , come to the next show . Like we'll be there . Whatever I walk out , the guy that was sitting down chases me down and I was like hey , man , what's your instagram handle ? Like what we're like how much time can you do ? I was like what I don't know . Like you do a solid 45 , you know ? Like what depends what you was , how much time I got . It was like well , I work for the Grove and I want to book you . And I was like and he didn't laugh .
Speaker 4Oh , I'm pretty sure he was studying . You know he was . Well , you know , because I do the same thing . When I go out there I tell people like if you don't see me laugh , it's not because I'm not funny , because I'm processing where you can be on the lineup Like man , I'm gonna send some dates towards you and let me know where she can come into the grove . And I was like nice , I'll be there bro , and yeah oh yeah , you never know yeah , yeah .

Speaker 4I think the best thing about arkansas is just the excitement that everybody has . Everybody like because there's so many new things coming up and it's just exciting . It's like you're never erst growing . So it's not like I say that's already established or something new comes up . You have to like , promote it . You have to . You know you have to get the word out because you're competing with whatever's out there . But here everything's getting established . It's like brand new .
Speaker 4So it's like just the excitement and just the people here . When I came here , I was really expecting to deal with a lot of racism , to be honest . I was expecting that and I felt bad because I had to apologize to some people , you know , because I was like man , I was really expecting you to be a jerk and you're one of the nicest people I ever met , that's awesome .
Speaker 4And here for me to start my comedy career here and the people that I've met and led to , because every time I had a suspicion that people always wanted something from me , so being these people are just gonna like , use me or something like that like to get here to get there .

So it's like I'm so grateful that the people that I've met here and like the roots I'm from la all day , but my roots is arkansas now . Like that's , that's my foundation .
