In this episode, I talk honestly about the challenges many teachers from Colombia and the Global South face when trying to enter the international school world.

From visa restrictions and paperwork to accent bias, aesthetics, passport privilege, and unspoken hiring preferences, the path to becoming an “international teacher” is not the same for everyone.

For years, I believed that experience and passion would be enough. But navigating international education made me realize that many systems were not designed with teachers like us in mind.

This episode is not about bitterness. It’s about visibility, reflection, and starting conversations that international education often avoids.

If you are a teacher who has ever felt overlooked, underestimated, or made to feel “less international” because of where you come from, this conversation is for you.

Because talent exists everywhere. Opportunity does not.
