Charles McConnell prepared to light the candle now for the varsity match. 6 44 p.m. This is going to be uh doozy. The clear springs lady charges will be set up on the right side of your radio dial. We'll be dressed in all bright blue uniforms, tops and panaloons with white numbers lettering and trim. Liberos, Aubrey Swoboda will be dressed in a white top, bright blue numbers lettering and trim. Over on the uh opposite side of the net, the Barbers Hill Lady Eagles will be dressed in identical coloration. Blue tops, white numbers lettering and trim. Same gradient of striping. However, they will be wearing black pantolings. And we're going to be set to get underway right here, right now on CMC Radio. I'm Charles McCullough. The Lady Chargers enjoyed victory in a complete sweep both on the freshman and JV levels. Freshman team coached by Kendall Howard defeated Barbers Hill 25-10-25-23, two out of three. And uh the JV under coach Lindsay Clark defeated Barbers Hill 25-19-25-22. Again, best two of three. Actually, it will be the Libero to serve for Barbers Hill, Mira Ludwig, and we're set to get underway right now. That serve is a floater. It's coming over. It's going to be uh uh Swoboda set up and down bringing it down on two. It's gonna be Kaylee. Bumped up far side, it's gonna be Lacey set up front, but back to Lacey, blocked left side Gavin. Bumped up on the far side, it's gonna be Ludwig over the net on one. Bump is gonna be Carmen on one, sending it back on down. It's gonna be Cayley with a kill. And Kayleigh Young with her first kill. That will not be her last friend. Come back on over left side. It will be uh Miss Cayley to serve far angle on the left side of your radio down. That's gonna be a float serve, pumped up near side, it's gonna be Childress over. Lackey, Franco sending it up, it's gonna be blocked near side. Reagan back on over the net. It's gonna be blocked right side. Lacy is gonna be sent back over near side. That's gonna be Karmer sending it back on over. It's gonna be blocked by Gavin. Now that one is going to be tip drilled into the net. Go back over to the right side, it is one to one, and that serve will be the um Barbers Hill Lady Eagles. Number one at Serb will be uh Casen Georgia. Caseon Georgia wearing number one in our angle right side. That's gonna be uh Swoboda set Carmen blocking it down. It's gonna be President Reagan. Wow, I'm talking about President Reagan Pinkston. Reagan Pinkson, number five. It's two to one, Clear Springs. Let's come back under the left side, and it will be Aubrey Swoboda, the little bear wearing the pink shoes, and number one on her uh Libero jersey. Toma Oxer bumped up. That's gonna be Childress set Izquierdo, spike it down, Lacey bumped up Cayley set. That's gonna be Reagan Pinkston once again with her second kill in a row. It's gonna be two, three to one now. Claire Springs come back over left side on a one-and-o run. And now is uh Sydney. Make that uh Abre Swoboda jump serve, bumped up far side. That's gonna be uh Keller set Burkland. He's getting those spiking it down, bumped up near side. Soboda Carmen spiking it down left side. That's gonna be Olivia Barnett. Man, that was a crusher. Oh Lord have mercy. But uh they're going to declare it, I think. Let me see now. Got a uh possible contest at the net. Cayley coming over to express uh the objections of Coach McClellan, and I think they have not uh afforded that whether it was out of bounds or perhaps a net violation for either team. It is uh point for the Clear Spring Cletty Chargers. That was in as far as I could tell. I think the question was whether there was a net violation, but Olivia uh was a clean shot, found square of five, and it is four to one, and Swoboda serve, bumped up far side. That's gonna be uh uh Keller set. He's catalogo, spike it down. Lacey bumped up, that's gonna be Carmen on two, Reagan down on one, bumped up far side, Franco, Lacey, Thompson on the kill. That was a good one. These kids can bring it, go back over right side for the Barbers Hill Lady Eagles and at the serve, indeed. Will be number seven, JC Lackey. JC Lackey, they call her Lacey for short. I could get confused on that one. Popped up, Cayley set Carmen spike it, Reagan, bumped up on the far side. That's gonna be Barklem, Seti's carto, Frank over the net on a high loop on three. Popped up's gonna be uh Sloboda set Carmen spike it down, Olivia Barnett, all load mercy, forget about it. Woo, man. Four to two, come back over left side, and that served will be uh number nine, Maddie Powell, whom I had the honor of interviewing before our match tonight. I hope you enjoyed that conversation. Thompson. That's going to be spiking it down as she sent it right back over to the near side. It's going to be number nine. Reese Childress killing that down. Six to three. That'll be her first kill. We go back on over. It's going to be number 12. Bailey. Wilsati sets her far angle on the right side. For the Barbers Hill Lady Eagles. Six to three. Springs by three. Tomahawk. Popped up. Swoboda set. Carmen. Spike it down. 23. That's going to be Taylor Cole. It's going to go up to Thompson. Ludwig Gonzalez. Hits the net, I believe. Oh, wait a minute. They're calling a net violation against Spring. You cannot touch the net, even if they hit the net with the ball. You touch the net. It's retained at a serve this time by Bailey of Gonzalez. We're still ahead, six to four. Set more. Popped up near side. That's gonna be Manny. Take it over Olivia, spiking it down to Tinatown. That's gonna be Olivia Barnett's third kill. She's got three now of the seven-point score for Clear Springs. Got back on over the left side and uh Olivia Barn. I think our bench press has gone from 135 to about 150. Uh, about now. All right, it's Miss Peyton Oliver at serve. Jump serve. Bumped up. That's going to be Ludwig said. Gonzalez spagging it down on that near side. It's gonna be number 19 right there. Madison Ladd. Boy, she laid into that one. Madison Ladd, number 19. So seven to five. Back over near angle on the right side of your radio dial. And it uh will be Miss Isabella Isquierdo. Isquierdo at serve. Jobser. Bopped up does come. That's a service ace for that young lady. So it's seven to six now. But uh Springs is still up at by one. All right, Ali Izquierdo at serve. Okay. It is seven to six clear springs. Set one bopped up. That's gonna be Swoboda set. Maddie Cayley on the spike. Lackey set up Bronco. Lackey again. That's going way out of bound. That's gonna be eight to six, clear spring. Come back over to the left side. And now coming in is gonna be Miss Gavin. Gavin in the middle, Taylor Cole heading out. Oh, you got Gavin coming in. You're bringing in the heavy artillery now. Look out. Miss Jenna Lynn twist at serve, near angle left side. She's got that floater coming up at you. It's gonna be Ludwig. Over comes out of the sentencing back on over. It's gonna be Lackey on the spot. Dug up, Manny. Send it back on over. It's gonna be Cayley on two. Bompped up's gonna be Izquierdo. Franco sent it down. Lackey. Bump up. Gets uh going to be a kill for Lackey. That's uh JC Lackey. She never lacks for kills. She usually leads uh with about 13 kills per match for Barbara Sill. So it's another eight to seven, springs by one, back over right side, meter Ludwig, number 11, the Libero once again at serve. Top serve. Bumped up Swoboda goes over the net on one. Swoboda on the dig. Sends it over the net as a campfire, and it winds up as a kill. A fluttering ash. Sometimes it works like that. It's nine to seven, two-point lead for Springs. Come back over to the left side, and at the serve will be the mighty Quinn. Miss Carmen O'Quinn. Carmen O'Quinn. She's going to North Texas State to play volleyball. Tomhawk bumped up far side. It's gonna be Franco Lackey. Childress on the spike. Dug up. Carmen. That's gonna be an effective kill over there. She'd sent it up toward the net tip drill, just a little bit out. Good effort over there for uh Sloboda. But it is now nine to eight springs by one, and retaining serve or siding out with the serve will be uh Messen. Tabby Keller, Tomog, bopped up. Peyton set, Carmen, Spike, Cayley. Uh bumped up far side's gonna be Franco, but he's kidding, though, sending it back on that cutter block on the left side. It's gonna be Gavin, somehow saved on the near side. It's going to be a tremendous block for Gavin in the middle. You can't stop Gavin's Kramer. Her dad, John, Gavin's dad, John, good friend of mine. He'll be joining me on some of my home broadcast for the Lady Charters coming up. All right, it's a Cayley at serve. Bumped up near side. That's gonna be Berkeley setup, Thompson, lackey on the kill. It's gonna be out of bounds. It is now for the Clear Springs Lady Chargers 11 to 8. And uh Queen Cayley at serve, going to Texas Tech, far angle left side. Straight a student at uh Springs High School. That's gonna hit the net. We go back over to the right side of your radio dial. It is 11 to 9. And side out and serve, go back over to Barbara's Hill. That serve will once again be number one. It's gonna be Kayson George. Near angle right side. It's gonna be a jump serve. Boped up, that's gonna be a service ace for that young lady. Case and George, and it's 11 to 10. Springs has been hanging in there with a one-point lead, uh, no less than that, throughout the entire first set. Uh and they still have it now. We're still up to 11 to 10. Set one. Jump serve. It's gonna come. That's a service ace. Now they're tight. It's one of those uh serves that hits the top of the net and then falls over rock like a rock and hits uh straight down into square one. Usually it's almost impossible to defend. So that's two aces in a row for this young lady. 1111 were tied up, bumped up, Cayley set Carmen, spike it, Olivia, Bump Barsa. That's gonna be Sketter over front to Lackey on the spike. Beautiful dig Cayley set Carmen Olivia on that spike. Stop it, but the block on that left side. That's gonna be number nine on the block over there for Reese Chilbras. That's her second block kill. And it's now 12 and 11. And for the first time in the set, Barberville takes a lead. Go back over right side, Libera Mira Ludwig at sir. That's uh going out of bounds. Come back over left side of the tied up once again. It's gonna be 12 and 12. All right, oh, this is a good one. I knew I said I knew that it would be. Okay, it will be number one, Aberris Soboda, our only better, and it is a jump serve. That's gonna be popped up for side, it's gonna be Ludwig set, Rocco Lackey, popped over near side. It's gonna be Swoboda setup, Kerman spike it down. It's gotta be Maddie. Up just goes out of bounds right side. 12 to 13, 13, 12, Barbers Hill. One point lead, but back over right side at Serb will be uh JC Lackey. JC Lackey. They call her kind of a Lacey. I'm gonna call it a Jaycey. Coming over is gonna be uh Carmen set right up near side, swinging that down to Chinatown. Taylor Cole, boy, she swung the hammer on that one. Oh man, that came down like uh the the big uh sledgehammer swung by the movie uh the the well Thor T H O R the Norse uh mythical uh divinity, or the mythical guy. That came down like the the force of that. Up the parside man surface gonna be children set up like inspected down. It's gonna be Ludwig. And Ludwig gets a spike there. Lanson square five just inside the line. Go back over to the right side. It's gonna be 14 to 13. Uh we're just trading digits here. Barbers Hill with a one-point lead now, and after serve will be number 12, Bailey Gonçalves. 14-13. Well, Taylor Cole, I can't believe she. I can believe it. But she's turning into a heavy hitter. Boped up Soboda. That's a service ace uh for uh number 12 uh Bailey Gonzalez. Oh man. 15-13, two-point lead for Barbara's Hill. It's gonna be a five-set match, possibly. You play three out of five. Boped up Sloboda set. Carmen sent it back on down. That's gonna be Olivia. Bop far side, Fracco set, children. Lackey gets the net, come back over left side. It's now uh 15 for Barbara's Hill, 14 for Claire Springs, and it will be Miss Peyton Oliver at the serve a uh far angle on the left side. She's the queen of the Buzzasaur serve. Popped up far side. That's gonna be Ludwig, set, Franco, Lackey, block left side, it's a double block for Cayley and number 23, Taylor Cole, 22 and 23. Forget about it. Caught up 15-15 back over left side, and that serve will be Peyton once again for the Clear Springs Lady Chargers. We've got us a jump serve again. Bumped up far side Ludwig, set Francois can it though. That goes out to bounds, come back on to the left side, and it's gonna be 16-15 springs by a singleton. Peyton Oliver on a 3-0 run. Now she's going to Northeastern University. Dump serve. Oh, that is an eas for Peyton Oliver. Oh, my load. 17-15. Peyton Oliver as serve. For the baby Chargers. Take a two-point lead, 17-15. Every digit that you can get a lead over a team like Barbers Hill is a precious one. Jump serve for our side's going to be Ludwig. Set. Blackie. Oh, on the spike that time. That's the kid I was watching in the warm-ups, number 10. Bly Thompson. And that's her first kill, but she averages 11 per match. Go back on over fire angle to the right side of your radio dial. And uh at serve is going to be uh number five, Ali Izquierdo. Ali is quieter. She's got talented as well with a capital T for BH. Toma. That's gonna be an ace, comes right over and grazes the top of the net, falls like a rock. Man, it's a potential fault because if it falls on their side, we go to get the point in the side out. But that's the second time now. One is dropped like a rock here, impossible to defend. Bumped up near side. That's gonna be uh set back under the net on the dig. That's gonna be Swoboda, and she does it again. Aubrey Swoboda. Well, wait a minute, they're calling a net violation on that left side. Got uh Miss Sidney Pankson right up there at the net. Okay, come back over to the right side. Sydney and Reagan both on the front line. Now that's a good deal. Jumped up near side. It's gonna be uh Swoboda set Carmen spike it down. Sydney with a kill! Sydney Pankson doing some heavy hitting there. Hey, she's showing her sister Reagan, older than uh she by one minute. Hey, I can uh hit from outside up here, too. Okay, it's gonna be Jenna. Narango left side. We're all tied up. 18-18. Tom Ock served. Boped up's gonna be Lackey. Set up Gonzalez Lackey on the spike. Oh, that's Lackey's second kill. She's good. All right, 19-18. That's the year World War I ended, but we've got a world war happening here, believe me, y'all. And it will be the uh Libero for the Barbara's Hill Lady Eagles serve, Mira Ludovig. Near angle right side. 19-18, Barbers Hill. This is set one. That's gonna be a jump serve. Bumped up Peyton. Set Maddie. Oh, Gavin, you can't stop that, but is this going out of bounds? Oh, she hit that so hard, but it just went out of bounds. Just went out 2018. Ooh, load Ed Murphy. Jump serve Ludwig. That's uh going out of bounds. 20 to 19. Senior leadership in the back, Hayden Oliver and uh General Lindquist both ducked down knowing it was heading out. It did, and that serve will be the mighty Quinn. Carmen O'Quinn always feel real good about Kirk Springs' chances to get on a good old run with Carmen and serve. That's a jump serve. That's uh bumped up far side. Lackey set Thompson on the spike on two, set back on over Lindquist on one, back on over Lackey, spike it down. Cayley, this is one-one one-one coming back over the net. That's gonna be Lackey again. Setup's gonna be Carmen, spike it down, that's gonna be number nine. Five, it's gonna be Reagan. That's her fourth kill from square three. And uh President, if you will, Ray President Reagan packs it. Brawl tat up 20-20, set one. Miss Carmen at serve, near angle left side, jump serve, up on the far side, it's gonna be Mozari. Set Franco Lackey on the spike as she goes again. That's her fourth kill. 21-20. JC Lackey, number seven. She's right there in the middle, along with some other heavy hitters, including number 17, Madeline Stone, and uh number 10, Bla Thompson. Barongo Rice's gonna be number seven, JC again. JC Lackey at the servo. 21-20, Barbers Hill by one. Jump serve. That's gonna be Jenna saved. Carmen set back over Reagan. Popped up Franco set back, Lacey, Thompson spike. There she goes. Head coach, by the way, for the uh Barbers Hill Lady Eagles is uh coach Amanda Tackard. Um we've got a timeout called by my friend coach Shannon McClellan. I want to tell you that coming into this match, the uh Clear Springs Letty Chargers are undefeated in district. The uh Clear Springs Letty Chargers. Uh this is the last game in the first half of district. And uh the Clear Springs Lady Chargers coming through to tonight are 6-0, the only undefeated team in district. The Barbers here Lady Eagles are four and two. They have been defeated by Dickinson, three sets to two. And they have been defeated by the Clear Lake Lady Falcons just this last Tuesday, three sets to two. Uh Clear Springs swept the Clear Lake Lady Falcons at home Friday night, three sets to none. So it's as uh Coach Lindsay Clark, JV coach, told me uh oh a week or two ago, it's like every varsity match. Uh it's like a playoff game every time. In 1868, toughest district in the state. And these two combatants tonight are certainly demonstrative of that. Fact. Here's the serve coming up's gonna be dug up. Kaylee set Carmen, Olivia spiking it down. Oh, Olivia again. Loud Elmer's that's her fifth kick. Uh coming. Back in from that right side. Okay, we got Reagan coming back in, Gavin in the middle, and Kaylee at serve. Chop serve. Popped up on the far side. Ludwig set. Fracco. That's gonna be Thompson. He's gonna kill it from that left side of Thompson. That is her third kill. It's 23-21. Barbersill leading by two. Set point would be 25. Springs always capable of coming back strong. And that's serve. And left side. Number one. Case in Georgia. Jump serve. Bopped up. That's gonna be Jenna. Set Carmen. Gavin spikes it. Block left side. That's gonna be Thompson. Set up Carmen sending it back up down. It's gonna be Olivia. Popped up far side. It's gonna be Jason spiking it down. It's gonna be Gavin. Gavin with our third two. 23-22 springs down by one. And that served now will be Aubrey Swoboda. One of the Houston area serving leaders, averaging five aces uh per match. Okay, Miss Aubrey. With a job, sir. Coming over, that's gonna be Ludwig. Sent up Fracco. Lackey over the net. Popped up. That's gonna be Swoboda. Set uh spaghetti down on two. That's gonna be Reagan. Popped up first. The Barbers Hill Ladies Eagles have one set-won in this match for him. 25 to 22 over the baby charges. Reagan Stone has uh one kill. Blood Thompson has three kills. JC Lackey has got four kills. Uh two service aces for Case and George, all for the Barbers Hill Lady Eagles for the Clear Springs Lady Chargers. We've got uh Gavin Kramer with three kills, one block. We've got uh Miss uh Kayleang with three kills. We've got uh Miss Peyton Oliver with A service A. And uh looking at Reagan uh Pangston with a total of five kills. And let's get this uh party started, shall we, for set number two. It's the best three of five minutes. Carmen float serve coming over. It's gonna be Lackey set Iskierdo, and Thompson spiking it down up on that far side, and it's one to nothing. Barbara's hill come back on over the left side, side at in serve for Barbara Hill. Barbas Hill is a 5A program essentially from last year. They've uh just uh uh entered the 6A rankings, and that's why the district is now 18-6A. Pass serve is gonna be JC Lackey, jump serve, bopped up. That's gonna be Svoboda set uh just knocking it down to Chinatown from that right side. It's gonna be Gavin, but it's gonna go just out of bounds. Gavin is hitting that ball harder than anybody I've seen, probably in two lifetimes, but it's just going out of bounds just this time. 2-0, 2-0 right now. So far, it's gonna be Raversville set too. Tom Oxer, it's gonna be Sydney, set Aubrey, spike it down, Cayley, safe far side, and gonna hit the basketball goal and come down. You gotta keep it in play, though. They haven't seen a Tomahawk strike that uh hit like a Tomawk missile, I should say. As hard as that in a long time. That serve is Queen Cayley. Jump serve. Bopped up, Ludwig, set Blackout, Lackey at serve's gonna be, or rather kill, it's gonna be blocked by Gavin. Dug up there, so that's gonna be Lacky, so children's back. It's gonna be Ludwig. Popped up far side, Carmen sending it back on down to two, and it's gonna be Cayley. Cayley, and Cayley gets her fourth kill. It's gonna be five to two. Ooh, man. Pretty strong ball to ball action. Kids are hitting the ball so hard that uh when a young lady digs it up for either team, wide practically goes to the ceiling. Uh Queen Cayley at serve, near angle right side. One of those digs almost scored a bucket in the basketball goal. Buck up near side's gonna be Ludwig. Set Blacko, mystery kill, sent back over Lackey, bumped up Carmen, spike it down near side. In my personal experience, having broadcasted, man, I'm telling you, 500 volleyball matches in my time. I mean that. Seriously. Uh usually by the time you get to set three and you've had a tighter than a Sunday pair of leather shoes set one or two, you know, with just a couple of points uh gradient differential. By the time you get to set three and you've got a slip down by one of the teams to, say, an 11-point deficit, it's fatigue starting to fit in. I'm just saying. Okay? But this Barbers Hill team is so tough that they could come back and be extremely competitive in set four. I have no doubt they will be. You can't take them for granted for that reason. And I know for a quantum fact, my friend Coach Shannon McClellan is not taking them for granted. Well, alright. Uh we got set four coming up round. I've never seen if I've said I've never seen a spike drilled so hard in my life, two or three times already in this match for different girls for the Cruise Springs Lady Chair. Let me say that I really want to underscore that this time with Cayley's kill. Peyton Oliver coming over to the uh job served. It's gonna be Ludwig set there. It's gonna be on that right side.
