Foundation | Luke 6:46-49

Why does there seem to be a disconnect between what we say we believe and

how we actually live? We say that Jesus has changed our lives, and yet, our

day-to-day doesn’t seem all that different. Why is this the case? Jesus shows us

in Luke 6:46-49 where He gives a parable of two houses and the foundation

upon which they are built. Jesus desires for our lives to be built upon Him and He

lays out for us what this entails in this necessary passage of Scripture.

 Three reasons why we don’t do what Jesus tells us to do…

  1) We think it’s unrealistic.

  2) We don’t want to.

  3) We don’t know how to.

If my life is built on Jesus…

  1) I come to Jesus (v47).

  2) I hear and do what Jesus says (v47).

  3) I have dug deep with Jesus (v48).

  4) I stand firm in Jesus (v48).

If my life is not built on Jesus…

  1) I hear and do not do what Jesus says (v49).

  2) I have not dug deep with Jesus (v49).

  3) The fall will be great (v49).
